Have MacBook Pro - Where do I fix problem with Mail Inbox posting duplicate messages?
Messages appearing in my inbox are coming in duplicates, and when I delete one it deletes both. Looked in Preferences but can't see anything to fix this. Thanks for any help
I don't know what the solution is, but I've seen this posted before. Just search the forums for "email with 1969 date" and you might find a solution.

My apple macbook pro retina 15'' ME664 has problems with sound.Either there will be no sound at all or at startup there il be very scary and broken sound and afterwards still there would be no sound.Secondly , it does not start in one shot.atleast 2 to 3 times pressing power button for longer time starts it up and afterwards still there will be no sound. Please help
This morning i was not able to hear sound on my recently purchased macbookpro retina 15 inch model.My attempts to resolve this issue by going to system preferences and removing the mute box that was ticked as active. i had downloaded much earlier a mac version of logmein app and noticed that in the sound box noted above that there was a bar indicating that the default was now to logmein. i had never used this app. Why it started today, i have no idea. I moved the logmein application to trash and deleted the app , however it did not remove the default option which still blocked the sound.
Going to a macforum gave the tha anser that to remove the logmein app, it first had to be reinstalled a nd them use the uninstaller option ftrom the dropdown menu. for now that has resolved the failure to allow sound oputput. -
o.k. So, I've been tinkering with several "self help" fixes for several days now with no positive results. I'll explain my initial problems and then end with my most current situation. In hopes that someone out there will have a good suggestion or possibly remedy for the issues i'm facing
First, my problem started after my wife played a game on my macbook pro and the computer froze. She went into a panic and decided to shut down via power button. When computer restarted she got the blinking file/grey screen and that problem continued for a couple of days before I began using steps from various support topics from apple concerning the grey screen/blinking file folder.
Ultimately, yesterday I decided to erase my Macintosh HD file as one tip suggested. Following the brief online and on screen (via the process) tips that were there. Once that was completed I attempted to reinstall snow leopard (my most current version on hand) into the pc.
At first, I thought this would work. It looked promising. But, after several hours the installation screen returned with failure. I attempted to repeat. And, even repair drives during this try and re-try process.
Now, today, one of the drives.. "hitachi..." states that it's failing and is in red letters with no ability to repair via the disc utility screen. The Macintosh HD drive shows that it's o.k. But, this drive is listed under the HItachi drive so I think that's where a problem might lay.
So, I guess my question really revolves around.. What if anything can I do to get the hitachi drive back up? (short of taking it to a repair facility and replacing.)
And, how on earth can i get my OSX back up to I have a laptop again.
Operating on a macbook pro here. It's my lifeline. Otherwise, I am using a Windows desktop that i'm not that fond of. lol

Any help would be appreciated.Well, running on a 2006 model. I did not have a startup disc. Initially, it booted up on original software in 2006. Since then, I've upgraded to 10.6 via a box set. And, since then I think I popped it up to lion.
All I have on a disc is snow leopard. And, I can't get farther than the setup screen due to hard drive. I'm taking to a apple authorized repair store right now. We'll see what they tell me . I'm just going to weigh the cost of repair vs. buying new.
Another bad, stupid thing is I had no means of backing up my stuff. So, I might have lost things like music, vids, etc. we'll see if they can recover. If the cost is too much for repair I might just forget it and start over with a new system. Just not sure at this point. -
MacBook Pro losing WiFi connection. Problem with AirPort Card
My MacBook Pro keeps losing Wifi connection. Sometimes it says no AirPort Card is installed. It has also been freezing, and the only solution is to hold the power button to turn it off. Then I have to restart the computer, but everything I was working on is lost.
Any ideas what is wrong or how to fix?Sounds like your WiFi chip is going bad. Have you gotten it checked by an Apple Store rep ?
Have you deleted the contents of /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration, rebooted and tried ? -
Trying to set up email on MacBook Pro running Lion (10.7.4), I can send messages, but receive only messages sent to my cloud address. Two other email accounts do not receive messages at all. Passwords, etc are correct. Anyone else have this problem?
I am assuming you are using the mail app. You may have turned off recieving mail function. Open up mail. HIt Command comma to open preferences. Go into general and set it like this.

MacBook Pro display....problem with coloured pixels appearing
I wonder if anyone can help - I have recently noticed on the left hand side of my display on my MacBook Pro that there is a large number of coloured pixels appearing more and more by the day. I have had the MacBook since Christmas, and it has been treated very well, i have never dropped it or damaged it in any way etc. At the moment the pixels aren't causing too much of a problem but i don't want it to get any worse. Has anyone had similar problems, and if so any suggestions?
Many thanks in advanceI haven't had any luck what so ever - only thing left for me to try is to completely wipe the system and re-install everything from scratch, if that doesn't work then i think i'll be contacting Apple..... which i should have done already to be honest, would have saved a lot of time and hassle! Only difference between mine and what your describing on your Mac is that the pixels are visible at all times on mine, no matter what apps i'm running etc, it is definately a problem with the screen.....i'll keep you updated with any developments

Problem with Mail not showing new messages
Since 2 weeks, my Mail does not show any of my 'hotmail' messages receive. The connection diagnosis said there are no problem with the account and server. It seems to download incoming mail (which also show in hotmail) but Mail does not show any new messages.
Back up all data.
Select the problem mailbox in the mailbox list, then select
Mailbox ▹ Rebuild
from the menu bar. -
I am a new Mac owner, and I'm currently stationed in Kuwait. My MacBook gets super hot on the bottom and it's performance starts to degrade. The weather here is in the mid 80's now, I can only imagine this problem will get much worse once the temps go above 100 in the near future.

Hi There, the battery in my laptop has already been replaced once because it had swollen and didn't allow me to click on the trackpad and recently after 96 charges and 5.2 months of use the health is 84.5% it has gone from a original capasity of 5770 to 4875 is this normal or should i take to to apple, OS X tell be the battery condition is normal and i dont know what to do?
Apple says that Unibody Macs batteries are designed to have 80% of their capacity after 1000 charges. Your battery has got 84.5% of its capacity after 96 charges, so it's clearly damaged, although OS X says that it's normal.
Personally, I would take the computer to an Apple Store or reseller again now to get your battery replaced again for free. That's because OS X may say that your battery is failing when the warranty has expired, and in this case, you will have to pay for this battery -
I am traveling and cannot connect my bluetooth keyboard to my MacBook Pro where I am. It was working fine when I left home. What can I do to fix the problem?
If you can get them paired again try making them "favorites" from the Bluetooth system preferences.
Try smc and pram reset too. May gave to do this before you can get them paired. -
HI i have macbook pro with OSX 10.8. I am facing typical problem with Wi- Fi , in school wi-fi it does'nt connects to http sites and connects only https as no security/proxy settings done but in home wi-fi it connects to all http and https sites. How to fix this problem as I am new this operating system. Please any one help me in this as I have installed Delicious Library which is not working in school becoz it searches amzon http site.
I would imagine that at school, you're required to connect through an HTTP proxy.
From the menu bar, select
▹ System Preferences ▹ Network
If the preference pane is locked, click the lock icon in the lower left corner and enter your password to unlock it. Then click the Advanced button and select the Proxies tab. Enter the proxy settings given to you by the network administrator. Click OK and then Apply.
You may wish to create separate network locations for home and school. See the built-in help for instructions. -
i have macbook pro 15 inch that i upgraded recently. i have been so frustrated because my internet keeps dropping out constantly. when will apple fix this? and if they don't what will happen to other people that are having wifi problems?

I have a problem with Mail on my Macbook Pro. It is configurated with a gmail account, and now I can't access the mail. Is it possible to reboot the account or..? Please help:)
The question mark means the computer cannot find a bootable volumes so can;t do anything, That, combined with annoying sounds, strongly suggests a failed hard drive.
You can ask a "genius" at an Apple Rtail Store to test it but I'm pretty sure the drive is kaput. I'm hoping you had your data backed up. -
i have macbook pro i got it from craiglist, when i was updating the oprating sestem its asking me for sestem unlocking pin? where can i get it from?
I would recommend wiping the system and reinstalling the OS for any used system. OS X does not have any "unlocking pin" of sorts so this may be from some third-party software on the system. The system does have a "firmware password" option that can be set to prevent booting to alternative boot environments (ie, external hard drives, safe mode, etc), but this will not prevent system updating.
