Have printing problems with HP Officejet 6500A Plus

Ever since I've gotten my MacBook Air I've found that the printer will not print out the whole page. I need to print out PDF patterns for sewing and I can't get the entire diagram on some of the pages. It seems to be cutting off approximately 1/4" off the bottom of each page, including cutting off the page number.

In the Print dialog, there's a preview of the output. Does it show the whole page? If not, please post a screenshot of the dialog. Be careful not to include any private information.

So I cannot scan my pictures, help.  Windows 8.1 with HP Officejet 6500A Plus printer.  Scanner works with other programs in my PC.  Problem is PS12

I bought the Officejet 6500A Plus about one month and have experienced the very same problem. I tried to remedy this problem following suggestions in a number of different posts (static IP, router, firewalls etc), all to no avail. Last week I called support. The support I received by the tech over several hours and different days for a week was very good. However none of his suggestions corrected the connection issue. After today's recommended fix failed, he advised HP is aware of this issue with the 6500 and other affected printers. He claimed HP was working on a firmware upgrade. He did not know when the update would be provided. The tech also claimed HP acknowledged this problem in a written announcement. He agreed to email the announcement to me. I haven't received it. This has been the only problem I've had with the 6500

  • Problem with the Officejet 6500A. WIA driver not recognized

I can't scan from my printer to my computer. I did a diagnostic and it failed on the WIA scan. On the printer it says it doesn't recognize the OCR or it lost a connection but I have it connected with a usb. Can I download a new driver for it or do I have to do a full factory restore? I looked online at forums where other people have the same problem and that was the only solution I found.
I have an HP Pavilion dv7 laptop and an OfficeJet 6500A. I would really appreciate a solution to this.

I have the HP 6500A Plus and a HP WINDOWS 7 laptop, and the scan function stopped working properly after a year, and I had the exact error messages you did. I could not scan to computer. It took me two days to find the solution. The WIA, or windows image acquisition wasn't running. Before you begin, if windows fax and scan is also disabled, go to control panel and click on PROGRAMS, then click TURN WINDOWS features on and off within Programs and Features. If windows fax and scan is working skip this step. Under PRINT & DOCUMENT SERVICES, make sure that two boxes are checked: INTERNET PRINTING CLIENT AND WINDOWS FAX AND SCAN.
Here is the sequence to activate WIA:
Click or press windows icon or start at lower left bottom:
In the search box type SERVICES, THEN ENTER. When the screen appears click on SERVICES (LOCAL) in the left column.. When this opens scroll down to WIA, it should be on AUTOMATIC AND RUNNING, and if possible start it. This is what I could not do, as I kept getting error message 1068. But I learned there are 2 other services that WIA needs to function properly. ALL THREE HAVE TO BE STARTED AND ON AUTOMATIC.
Scroll down to : REMOTE PROCEDURE CALL, THEN SHELL HARDWARE DETECTION, see if they are STARTED or on AUTOMATIC. When I activated the shell hardware detection I went back to WIA and it started, and I no longer got the error message. This last one is the one that solved the enigma, and the Scan to Computer worked immediately, as did windows fax and scan. Take your time as I did, as I am not a computer wizard, and it should solve the dilemma.

  • Installation problem with HP Officejet Pro Plus 8600 with Windows 8.1

My system recently updated to Windows 8.1 and my HP Officejet Pro Plus 8600 will no longer function with my computers (Dell desktop, Hp laptop). It shows up in control panel, but says the driver is unavailable. I have tried to download the compatible updated driver from the HP site numerous times, but the install always fails. The error message says "failed to add port monitor HP Discovery Port Monitor (HP Officejet Pro 8600). The machines were running Windows 8 before the update and the printer/scanner/copy/fax functions worked fine with the computers. The printer is still recognized in my wireless network and prints from my phone and iPad. I've used the HP uninstall wizard, but there is no program listed for HP 8600 to uninstall. Help!

    Hello @yrtxtm ,

  • Printing problems with HP OfficeJet G55

I have a MacBook running OS X 10.5.4 and I'm having problems printing with my HP OfficeJet G55. I have updated to HP Printer Driver 1.1.1, but after updating, I realized my printer type was not in the list. So that did not fix the problem. I connect my printer to my computer by USB and as soon as I hook it up, the computer recognizes the kind of printer.
When I go to System Preferences-->Print & Fax--> Open Print Queue, it says "Printer Ready". Then when I want to print out a page and after I hit Print, it says something like Printing 11%,...,100%, then automatically the status of whatever I wanted to print says "complete", but the page has not even printed yet. My printer did nothing. I have tried rebooting, and had the same problem. I have also tried deleting the printer from system preferences/print & fax and then adding the printer again, and it doesn't work.
There is nothing wrong with my printer because I printed out a test page, and it worked fine. Also when it's connected to a desktop computer we have..Windows XP, the printer also works. And even when I connect the printer to my old ibook (I think it's on OS 9.1), it also works.
Please if anyone knows about this, I need instructions on correcting the problem!
    Thank you!!

A Gutenprint driver for that model is included in OS X:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1370#hpdrivers
I'd guess you have a corrupted file somewhere. Try these generic fixes:
Reset Printing System - In Print & Fax prefs:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/14001.html
Get the downloadable Combination Updater from Apple, use it to re-Update OS X.
Use Disk Utility to repair the HD (see Try Disk Utility):
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1417
(Final step - reinstall OS X using the Archive & Install option in the installer.)

  • Problems printing to HP officejet 6500A plus e-All-in-one printer e710n

    Hi,
I am struggling to print to my " HP officejet 6500A plus e-All-in-one printer e710n". According to the setup network test (Wireless network test report), everything is successful (status "PASS" for all fields).  I also checked that the IP configured is the same as the IP displayed on the printer when i push the wireless button (updated via "Update IP address").
I have a laptops as well as netbooks connected to the wireless network. All these devices could previously print, however now none of them can. When i run the diagnostics (both the standard trouble shooter, as well as the one from microsoft when clicking on the fixit option), no problems are detected. When checking the device manager, i can see no conflicts.
When i open the printer control panel and click on "Customize your printer" and then go to "Ports" and click on  the "configure port" option, i get an error "An error occurred during port configuration. Operation could not be completed (error 0x0000007b).".
    Please assist with any suggestions.

I was able to resolve the problem.
I reinstalled the printer on one of my other laptops (this might have cleared up an error on the printer). I think the true problem is related to the fact that we left the printer on, we've started switching it off when not in use. Even though it goes into sleep mode, it seems to cause problems over time if not switched off on the printer itself.
The basics i did was check the network connection, printed a status of the network connectivity (you can do that from your control panel on the printer). If the network looks good, then try leaving your printer off for an hour or so, if that doesn't work, try reinstalling the printer on your device and start switching it off after use. I know it sounds crazy, but that's what i've been doing and haven't had a problem since.
It was a strange problem, in some cases i wasn't able to see the printer from devices that previously could, when the devices that could see the printer tried to print, it would print okay for a few pages and then start printing garbage, followed by failing completely and cancelling the print. When this happened there would be an error on the device saying it cannot connect to the printer, even though it could at the start of print.

  • How do i print from my ipad to the officejet 6500a plus?

I read there may be something else required. I want to print directly to the Officejet 6500A Plus. Apple says ths is an Air Print printer capable of doing that. I'm not taking this monster out of the box until I know it will do what I want without a lot of trouble. Thanks.
    This question was solved.

Ok, so you were talking about needing the update.  It's hard to say as it all depends upon if it came with the new firmware or not.  It is not really relevent, however, since it will update itself upon enabling Web Services.  This process takes only a few minutes.  There is no computer necessary for the firmware update as long as the printer has internet access (i.e. connected directly to a router via either ethernet or wireless).  Yes, with an ad hoc connection, you will be able to print from the iPad, but you would have to use its 3G connection as opposed to going through your router.  It can only support a single wifi connection also.  Go ahead and set up the printer and keep me posted as to what happens.
BTW - What is the issue with your PC that it cannot access the internet?
If I have solved your issue, please feel free to provide kudos and make sure you mark this thread as solution provided.

  • OfficeJet 6500A Plus Goes Offline and Won't Come Back

I'm having  trouble with my OfficeJet 6500A Plus, keeping it "online" to the wireless network in my home.  I am trying to print from my HP Pavilion laptop which has been loaded with the latest software from the HP Support site.
The printer shows itself to be online to my router.  I've even run the Wireless Setup Wizard over again to reintroduce the printer to the router.  But, no, my laptop considers the printer to be "offline" and, if I try to remove and reinstall the printer, Windows can't find the printer on the network.
By the way, my Pavilion laptop is new, purchased in July and it's running on Windows 8.1.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • I cannot get my HP Officejet 6500A Plus 710N to print in color. I have reinstalled the drivers..

I cannot get my HP Officejet 6500A Plus 710N to print in color. I have reinstalled the drivers.  It used to print in color and just stopped.  I think it may be a settings issue?  I have checked the ink levels and they are all fine. When I print a diagnostic report on print qualify, the black prints well, but there is no color printing.

Okay, I had the same problem. It's most likely your printhead. All you have to due is clean it.
Note: I was sceptical of this approach but can fully attest to it's sound results as it restored my printer back to full functionality. Prior to this the printer only would print Black ink.
The print head is the carriage that holds all of your ink cartridges in the printer. On the 6500A it's super easy to remove. Opent your lid like your changing your ink cartridges. Remove all of your ink cartridges. Once they're out. There is a lever on the left side of the carrier that holdes your ink cartridges. Lift it up and the print head comes right out. Net take your print head to the sink and run it under hot water aiming towards the the four cirles were the ink flows into. Keep running it under the hot water until it is coming out clear. It's okay to run it under the bottom part too infact you'll need to inorder to get it completely rinsed out. Also don't touch the computer metal strips with your hand thought you can run water over them. Once your done rinsing use a blow dryer or a can of compressed air (thats what I did) to dry every thing out. I was able to get everything dry in about 5 minutes or so. Let it sit for a few minutes and check it again for water. I recommend moving it around to get full exposure to insure it is dry. Also if you use a hair dryer try to put it on a cold setting since there ar rubber grommets the surrount the inlet ink ports you wouldn't want to melt them with the hot air etc.. Like I said I used a can of compressed air.  It's important to use a quick method of drying as mentioned otherwise mineral particles could become deposited on the unit. This won't happen with the methods as I've described because the molecules won't be able to bond since your blowint them off. Oh yeah, you'll want to place a clean peice of paper down as your blowing because at first you'll end up with a few black jet marks as your blowing. Also don't wear your favorite white shirt lol.
Okay once it's dry replace the print head carriage back in push the lever down install the ink cartridges. Close the lid then unplug the printer. Wait 5 seconds plug it back in then it will reboot and start its set up procedure kind of like whet you first bought the printer except you won't have to change any of your network or setup setting since they are saved in memory. Also be patient about the set up procedure it seemed very slow for me. Once it finishes you will be prompted to run the printer alignment process. Run the alignment process and you should be all good. If not at least you gave it a shot. If this doesn't work your going to have to pay $60 for a new printer head. Which is not that big of a deal but hey if you can fix it for free why not. If you do decide to buy a new printer head you might find deals online or ebay just make sure it's an Genuine HP print head. And lol use the Genuine HP ink cartridges. Finally make sure you print at least on colored page per month to make sure the ink doesn't clog up in the future.
Remember this suggestion is after you have run the HP clean ink cartridge procedure twice. Sometimes the clean procedure will correct the problem first. Also there is video I watched on YouTube about this just search for "Clean HP 6500 print head. Hope that helps
Once it's all dry just reinstall the printer head carriage

  • HP Officejet 6500A Plus e-All-in-One Printer - E710n wireless print and web app problem

We have an HP Officejet 6500A Plus e-all-in-one Printer - E710n and run Windows 7 on our laptop.
I have run the wirelss setup wizard and have successfully connected the printer to the router, and both the laptop and printer are on the same network and have identical SSID.
However, we can not send any prints the printer wirelessly. We have to hook it up to the USB to do so. We are also unable to access our web apps; pressing the app button on the printer control panel brings up the following:
"Connection error. The printer was unable to connect to the server. Check your internet connection and try again."
I have run through the suggested solutions under "A Network Connected Printer Cannot Access Print Apps, Web Services, or ePrint" in the customer care help centre which didn't work, although when I tried to enter the IP address under IPv4 into the browser address bar it timed out. I tried the HP Print and Scan Doctor, but it returns a result that suggests everything is fine.
I turned off the firewall and tried again with no luck.
I really am at a loss now. Diagnostics say it should work, but it doesn't. Help!

Disable Bitdefender altogeher and try again.

  • Does apple make a printer for iPad if not how dow I get it to work with a HP Officejet 6500A Plus printer?

Does Apple make a printer for the iPad and if not how do I get it to work with a HP Officejet 6500A Plus printer? Thanks

Apple don't make any printers, but there are a number of the printers that are AirPrint-enabled, which you should be able to print to just by the printer and the iPad being on the same wifi network - the models that support AirPrint are listed on this page (the page also includes a bit of troubleshooting at the bottom of it) and it includes :
    HP Officejet 6500A e-All-In-One E710a
    HP Officejet 6500A Plus e-All-In-One E710n
If your's isn't one of those then you could see if HPs own ePrint app works with it, or there are third-party printer apps such as PrintCentral Pro and Print n Share which might work it

  • Wireless configuration for HP OfficeJet 6500A plus All-In-One printer on Ubuntu 10.04

I have bought a HP OfficeJet 6500A plus All-In-One printer CN557A, which I want to use with ubuntu 10.04 64-bit as a wireless network printer.
Before i bought i checked compatibility on www.hplipopensource.org and www.openprinting.org, and all was in order.
The machine is autodetected and fully functional when connected with a usb cable, but i have not managed to get it to work as a wireless printer.
    This is what I did:
I configured the printer on the wireless network (through the printer interface), and it connects. It prints out a "Wireless Network Test Report", and everything works. I can ping to its local ip adress, and access it through the browser. HP eprint also works.
I installed hplip 3.11.10 and dependencies manually. I did this because the default hplip in ubuntu 10.04 did not recognise the device.
I ran 'hp-check', which gave no errors or warnings:

    Done.
I then ran 'sudo hp-setup', chose the device (which was detected), chose my wireless network, entered the wireless security key. On the configuration results dialog I get two messages:
"Your printer has been succesfully configured on the wireless network. You may now unplug the USB cable"
    and
"The Ethernet cable is plugged in which will prevent you from connecting to a wireless network. To connect wirelessly, remove the cable and try again. (VSA000)"
There is no ethernet cable plugged in, so i can't remove it. I unplug the USB cable and click 'finish'. This makes the 'hp-setup'-dialog start over again, and the printer has not been installed.
In the terminal i have the following:
    tjoff@mek-403-jakbo-01:~$ sudo hp-setup

A friendly soul on ubuntuforums pointed out to me, that the wireless configuration is only necessary when the printer is NOT connected to a (W)LAN. So all I really had to do was to configure the printer in the CUPS administation page, and it worked. Problem solved. Silly me.
