Have problems with successful downloads of FP

I havre tried repetedly to download Flashplayer with no success on my laptop. I have disabled my virus protection too and rebooted. Itsays it's there but it isn't. Any help??

The operating system is Windows 7 64 bit. Browser is IE and "No Success" is it downloads perfectly and tells me it is and even shows up as a loaded program however when I try to view a program that requires Flash player it says"I don't have it, it's required to view this program" and there is no icon I can find anywhere. I've turned off my AVAST as required and even rebooted sever times and nothing. I'd like to resolve this and get on with being able to utilize it. I don't want to download Google Chrome however.

It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.

Select a .zip file in the Finder and Get Info (cmd-i). What is set for it to Open With. It should be Archive Utility.

Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
If that doesn't work...
To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...
Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.

Such a feature is stored in a cookie. Firefox only keeps one set of cookies for all open tabs. So only the last user is remembered.
