Have PSE 9 and wish to merge duplicated categories, sub-categories and keywords etc?

Have PSE 9 and over the years have found have duplicated categories and subcategories and wish to know the best way to Merge and organise them. Also have a huge list of 'Imported Keywords' and not sure how they are formed and how to mege them with the existing categories, sub-categories etc?

The 'imported keywords' category is created when you import picture files which already have been keyworded in PSE (or LR or PS...). When you import you are prompted to keep the keywords. If they don't belong to a category of your present catalog, the keywords will be added there.
Merging categories, sub-categories and keywords:
This is not difficult, but can be time consuming.
- Select a keyword in the 'imported category'
- Right click and select 'edit'
- in the dialog, replace the category or sub-category by the correct one
In that way, you can 'move' a keyword to the correct parent.
If you have duplicates or near duplicates, such as a correct and an incorrect spelling, you have to:
- select all items with the wrong keyword
- assign all selected items the right keyword
- select the now luseless keyword in the keyword panel and delete it.

I Have PSE 12 and when installing it on a newer PC I noticed the color option that is at the bottom of the tool list was missin

You have pse 12 maximized to fit the whole screen?
Could you post a screenshot?
The only thing that seems to be missing are the actual labels in the toolbox.

PSE 6 and keyword tagging

I've been trying to use keyword tags to identify my images (I have four categories of tags one of which has subcategories numbering 40+ the others have far fewer) and I'm experiencing problems with Elements crashing, hanging and images disappearing from my hard drive. I am a fairly inexperienced user but I'm very careful and methodical in my processes and I just can't figure out the problem. I'd really appreciate any ideas/theories anyone might have.

Adding tags shouldn't cause images to disappear from your hard drive. Are you 100% sure that adding tags is the reason?

I use v20.0.2, and restart using same windows and tabs is NOT working. I have deleted profile and restarted, etc., but nothing seems to work. What now?

In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes":

Note that clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords.
You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox profile folder that store session data.
Delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox profile folder.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost and you will have to recreate them (make a note or bookmark them).

If you use cleanup software like CCleaner then check the settings for the Firefox application.

PSE 7 and LR2

I have PSE 7 and online photo back up on photoshop.com. I just recently purchased Lightroom 2 (LR2) to edit my RAW files and am not certain where to start.
I do not want to store pictures in the seperate locations already established by me on my computer and that which is the "default" storage location for LR2. More spcifically, I keep my PSE pics in an Adobe file on my C drive and LR defaults to the My Pictures file in my documents.
If I copy all of the files/folders from Adobe to a new file in the My Pictures folder for LR how will PSE know where to sync my online album from?
Help please with my work flow.

Can I do this with PSE 7? I read somewhere that later versions of PSE cannot be imported into LR2 using the import tool (I know I can do it manually). I agree about two organizers. My overconfident, overinflated opinion of my understanding of said caused me to delete all of my pictures from their current storage location recently. Thank goodness for Photoshop.com.

PSE 13 and Nikon NEF files

Considering upgrading to PSE 13 and was wondering if PSE 13 supports Nikon NEF files for a Nikon D5300 without an additional plugin. The D5300 is shown as supported for version 8.6 converter and I currently have PSE 10 and have to use the DNG converter on all NEF files which is not only a pain but time consuming.

The D5300 is supported by camera raw 8.3 and later.
PSE 13 includes camera raw 8.6 so should be able to read your files.

Templates and keywords

I made a template in CS4 and omitted to make the head tags an
editable region. I now have lots of pages made from the template
that I cannot apply keywords etc, to individually.
What is the best way to edit the template to resolve this for
future pages?
Is it possible to edit the template to make the head tags an
editable region so that I can apply it to pages already made from
the existing pages?

Do you possibly mean the contacts have been merged?
If so, where are each of you syncing contacts? A supported application on the computer? iCloud or another cloud service? An Exchange server?
WIthout details, it's difficult to offer specific resolutions.

Create a new Apple ID for the second phone. If you are setting the phones up as new phone enter the ID you want to use on each phone.
If both phones are already signed in to one Apple ID then use the settings app to change Apple IDs on one phone.
Settings > iTunes and App Store > tap on the Apple ID > sign out > sign in with alternate Apple ID.
Note that if you have downloaded apps with the original Apple ID on the phone with the new Apple ID, those apps will still be associated with the old Apple ID and will require the old ID and password in order to update them.
