Have the sustain pedal signs on the score editor any effect on the midi?

Hi All,
Whilst working on the score editor I realized I wanted to get rid of the sustain pedal markings without of course affecting the midi playback. Perhaps deleting the pedal sings from the score has no effect on the playback but I need confirmation (of course I need the sustains to perform... just dont want to see them at this stage on score.. too messy)
Thanks for reading.

_Global Format_
Here you can find the settings for page margins, spacing between notes, slanting of beams and format settings.
This window can be opened by:
• Layout > Global Format…
• Key command Settings: Global Format
• Double-click on the page margins in Page Edit view
_Default Pedal Position_
This determines the vertical position of pedal symbols which are created and displayed automatically when you use the MIDI sustain pedal during a real time recording. +If this parameter is set to zero, the recorded MIDI sustain pedal controller events will be hidden in the score.+

  • What do I do when I want to change the sound output from my computer to my TV but I do not have the HDMI option under sound output?

I have the first generation of the silver macbook (with the black keyboard- before it went to macbook pro). I have been watching movies from my computer onto my TV via a HDMI cable. For awhile now I have been trying to get the sound from my computer to go onto my TV, but I do not have the option of HDMI on my computer. I was wondering if anyone knew why or what I do when I do not have that option. Thank you!

With the Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody  there is an adapter that uses the Mini DisplayPort and a USB port to combine video and audio to HDMI. It's only 2 channel stereo not 5.1 Dolby Surround.
    http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10428&cs_id=1042802 &p_id=5969&seq=1&format=2
If you connect the MacBook using a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter you will probably need to use external speakers or a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plugs connected to a stereo sound system if your TV doesn't have separate RCA input plugs or a 3.5mm stereo input plug for audio with the HDMI plug. The Mini DisplayPort to HDMI doesn't carry audio unless you have the Mid 2010 model 7,1 and there're no audio plugs on most TVs to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with the HDMI.

  • How can I have two displays mirrored (4 total) on the mid-2013 mac pro?

    Hello.
I have the mid-2013 Mac Pro (last model with PCIe slots). I would like to use 4 monitors; two in the regular extended desktop configuration, with two more that simply mirror the first two. I am sure I need some kind of splitter, or do I need another graphics card?

I am sure I need some kind of splitter
Another alternative is to get enough ports on display cards and use the Mirroring feature in Mac OS X. Any display can be mirrored with any other display by dragging the icon for a display onto the Icon for one you wish to mirror. The resolutions will be reset to one that can accommodate both displays.
This works without adding ANY overhead if the two displays being mirrored are on the SAME display card.

  • Support for sustain pedal?

    hi all,
i've got a keyboard (midi) and to my extreme surprise i realize it does not have a sustain pedal input...weird huh? anyway I was wondering if any ol' keyboard with midi and a sustain pedal will work. I know the midi stuff works, i'm just wondering if i pick up another one i mean does the sustain through the keyboard work, or what, someting special through mac? I think we can all agree it can be pointless in some cases to play without sustain on a piano.

    SUSTAIN PEDAL SOLUTION
I JUST FOUND A WAY TO KEEP THE SUSTAIN WHEN YOU SAVE THE FILE
JUST OPEN THE SEQUENCER AND PLAY
AND THEN JUST GO TO "FILE" EXPORT AND THEN YOU SAVE IT AS A WAV FILE
YOU'LL HAVE A FILE WITH THE SUSTAIN
    HOPE THIS HELP PEOPLE

  • The MID-7604 puts out a lot of noise, where can I get isolated cables for it?

I'm using a MID-7604 stepper motor driver. I'd like to reduce the ground loop noise in the system that I am measuring on my PXI-5152 (through a series of transducers, etc.) by using an optical or transformer isolator for the 68 pin VHDCI cable that connects the motor driver to the computer. Does such a thing exist or are there other methods to mitigate the noise? I'd prefer to have the MID-7604 and the computer connected to the same circuit/I don't really want to buy a gigantic isolation transformer/surge protector just to plug in the MID-7604.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    OlliesCamel,
The devices I'm using are PXI-5152 for signal acquisition, TEGAM 4040B for amplification, MID-7604 to drive stepper motors (which have specifications shown here http://www.sherline.com/stepspec2.pdf) to turn a Sherline rotational stage. The transducers are both Harisonic I30508T 5 MHz 3.5" focus transducers.
I have scanned in a drawing I made up of how everything is physically connected entitled Electrical connections.PDF. Also, the noise I am referring to is the noise that is shown in picture noiseMID7604.jpg. (It is labeled)
For the initial laser noise I'm getting an optically isolated RS232 which should fix that problem. On the MID-7604/7602 stepper power motor drive user guide and specifications it shows on page 13 that a wire should go from the 3 position to the case for grounding. It also shows that it seems to be attached to the shield of the shielded wire. Is this necessary as long as I have the ground connected to the case of the motor or? The way I have it now I just have a separate wire in the bundled/shielded cable that is going to the case but it isn't connected to the shielding itself.
The settings for the amplifier and the PXI are for 1 M ohm impedance.
As you can see, my signals don't have a very large SNR, so any sort of motor noise is problematic, particularly since the noise I've shown doesn't stay in the same place during the test. It tends to move around/be on top of my signals at random times even though it doesn't show that in this particular picture. It is problematic since I'm taking many measurements (20,480 acoustic signals per scan, etc.).
I've tried averaging (256 times) and filtering (10 MHz low pass filter is the lowest I can go), however, the noise still persists a bit since it happens to somewhat fall under the same frequencies, etc. The averaging does help, but I'd like to run the test faster and so eliminating that noise would help me in that regard.

  • Alterations in the Environment window don't do anything to the midi

The midi signals for Yamaha DTXplorer are off from GM. The snare (G0) and bass drum (A0) output notes do not trigger snare (D1) and bass drum (C1). I hear all the other drums. The snare and bass drum do record (but not on channels that make any sound).
I am a novice to both MAC and Logic Pro.
I have the midi out of the drumset going USB right into my MAC.
    I've gotten as far as...
    1. Environment window>clicks and Ports
    2. Verifying the channels that DTX triggers for snare and bass drum.
    3. Changing the output notes to D1 & C1.
    Nothing changes with the sound.
In fact, I can change the output notes for drums that are set up correctly and they don't change either.
None of the alterations I do in the Environment window seem to do anything to the midi signals!
Do I need to activate or save the changes? If so, how (precisely)?
    Thanks in advance.

    1) You don't want to create an external MIDI - that would be for logic to play an external device. You want a software instrument.
    B) It sounds as if you have created a 'mapped instrument' in the environment. Maybe you are using a template that has one built in. I can't help you with that because it crashes Logic for me when I use that.
So I do it like this:
Very straightforward to set up. The thing called "Alesis mapping" is a transformer, which is open. If you click initialize at the bottom you get a 1 to 1 ramp (notice that the 3rd button in the second row is set to "use map"). The numbers in the bottom right correspond to note numbers in this case. 0-127 (C-2 is 0, C#-2 is 1, etc.). I forgot to put it on one where you could see the number differences, but you can see it in the graphic map. In my case I needed to reassign 4 notes. So if the number in the bottom right says 25, the number in the next box says 56. You can see that as the column spike. Now when I grab the choke on the cymbal it sends out note #25, which this transformer turns into note #56. The hardest part of my method is converting note names (D2) into the proper number (0-127) that is what the monitor is there for - confirmation.
Under status where it has an = and then "note" is there so you don't accidentally remapped the hi-hat CC# (probably CC4). My kit sends a note for cymbal choke, but yours may send an aftertouch message, which will pass through unaltered.
    Save this as a template.

  • Font in Score Editor

I made a lead sheet using the Logic the other day, and I have a question about it.
The default typeface for chord symbol extensions is Times. This is fine, except when there are flats or sharps in the extensions (e.g. G7b5 or whatever). Using Times, of course, these extensions are shown as the letter b, sharps as pound signs.
I know Logic uses the AScore font for stuff, but if I use that (or AScoreParts), the extensions get all messed up. Do I have any options for using Logic's internal stuff for this, or do I have to use an external music font? For what it's worth, I know that works, but I'd rather not have to do that if I can avoid it.
    Thanks!

Is there a simple way of changing the value of a note in Score Editor?
Since representation of MIDI nots are is visually quantized in the Score window, the best solution is IMO to have both a score and a piano roll window open at the same time when you edit note lengths in Logic. At least if you want accurate edits.
Alternatively, you could open the integrated HyperEditor in the Score window: you can't edit lengths there, but you can see them, and edit them using the Length parameter in the Inspector. However - if you do this, your edits won't be updated graphically until you release your mouse, and the method isn't very useful for editing notes played at the same time.
If you edit manually played notes using the Nudge commands, you can risk creating overlapping notes, which could create results you don't want (overlapping notes).
I used to use the score window for editing exclusively, but after having gotten used to using the piano roll, which both lets you see the velocity of each note and perform accurate edits of each note length, going back to editing in the Score window feels a little bit like with a fighting in the blind- which is why I use two windows combined.
These Piano Roll and the Score window will never be 100% aligned (bar wise or playhead wise), but who knows, maybe we'll see an integrated solution one which lets you edit note lengths graphically in the score window - in one way or the other. This idea (see image below) wasn't bad at all...

  • Drums In Score Editor

Hi, I read the manual for customizing the score editor to display your drum parts properly. But when I create a new mapped instrument in the environment, and edit the parts in the drum editor, such as creating new groups, and note heads....nothing happens in the the score.
For instance if i take the B0 kick drum and change the note head, then I input that kick drum in the score editor (using a mapped score style with a kick drum voice) the kick drum will show up, but not with the new note head. For some reason no matter what I change in the new mapped instrument's drum editor the score won't reflect those changes.
    Any help very much appreciated!!

  • Any ideas on how to control the amount of sustain pedal data that Logic Pro 9 records? Every time I press the sustain pedal down, it records 4 sustains. Same thing when I release the pedal. Thanks!

This gets confusing, you have two Macs with different issues and two pedals with different issues? First let's sort out what's what. So, do the issues come from the pedals or from the Mac software? To find out, simply switch the pedals and note their behaviour. No change: it's the software, change: it's the pedals (imho the most likely scenario).
Second, what kind of pedals are they? Can you name the type of pedal too? The Yamaha what and the Mgear which?
Third, with the 4 fold data problem, are the doubled events simultaneous, or a few ticks apart, or more?
Also, you have no MIDI keyboard? Are the pedals both "standalone"?
I think you have to sort this problem at its' source, which are the pedals. You could, if push really comes to shove, perhaps create some sort of ingeneous/elaborate transformer setup in the environment to filter the extra messages, although with the 4/4 sustain events that may not even be possible. With the "stepped" events you could set up a filter to just block all events with values 20-110 or so.
But much better would be to configure the pedal(s) correctly.

  • NEED HELP!!!  Sustain pedal screwing up the tuning of midi instruments.

Is there a a way to restore Logic to its original factory default setting. I have messed with a setting somewhere and when I play 2 instruments (2 different channels) at the same time everything goes fine until I press the sustain pedal. I have looked all over for the reason but can't find anything. I have also reset midi settings in Logics preferences. PLEASE HELP!!!

    Forget it. I fixed it

The practical way to do it is hold your foot down on the pedal when you power up the keystation.

  • TS2566 whenever I use the sustain pedal it holds the E note down? Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

I downloaded apple mainstage and am pleased with it. However when i use it on my keyboard the the sustain pedal holds down the E note. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

If you have this problem (facetime dropping calls). Just go to settings, then general, and scroll it down to reset. Once on the reset, tap on reset all settings, it will ask your code. After you do this close out your iphone by pressing the main button on top of your iphone. I tried everything and this procedure works with me. Let me know if it works with you all.

  • Using my sustain pedal as the Bass Drum's kick pedal?

I have found other threads on the same topic, but I really couldn't understand it.
How do I use my sustain pedal as the kick pedal for a bass drum through say "Channel Strip Setting: Drums>Drum Kits>Hip Hop 2"?
Thanks for your help in advance. 8)

You'll need to use the environment to transform (using a transformer object) a sustain pedal MIDI event, into the desired MIDI note event.
Check the manual on the transformer object for info on how to use it.
