Have to connect twice via Airplay to hear music?

It does this frequently, but regardless of reconnecting, updating, resetting, and reinstalling iTunes, in order to make the Apple TV function through Airplay while powered on, we're required to connect via Airplay, disconnect, and reconnect, in order to hear music.
This also can happen to iOS devices (iPhone 4, iPod Touch 3rd Gen, iPad 1st Gen)
Any thoughts on this?
After doing this, it works just fine for a while and all devices can connect.
One trend I did notice is that my Windows PC sometimes would not see the Apple TV, and that if I connected via my iPod, it would appear once again on Windows. On OS X, it says it has connected, but nothing plays until I do the disconnect/reconnect.

I've had the same problem too, and have now solved it:
I also found that my iPod touch wouldn't automatically join my home metwork, though it would join other known networks. While searching for how to fix this problem (in addition to the problem that we all share on this thead of needing to type your password twice), I came across this suggestion, which fixed both problems at once:
- Go to settings>wifi
- Instead of tapping the network you want, tap "other"
- Enter the name of the network manually
In my case, this seemed to jog my iPod's memory and it has never asked me for a password since.
I guess you have to have the iPod/phone set to join known networks automatically. If you don't have that for whatever reason, I'm not sure this fix would work.

  • HT4437 Issues with connecting PC via Airplay to Aiport Express

I use iTunes 11.0.2.26, Airport Express 7.6.3. and can see the Airplay button and also select my Airport Express Device as a speaker. However, iTunes is unable to connect from my PC. I am using Windows 7 Professional.
On the same WiFi network and with the same Airport Express I am able to stream music from my Macbook Pro and iPhone - so the issues seems to be related to either Windows 7 or my Lenove T400s.
Does anyone have an idea what the solution could be?

Strange. I can't remember changing any network settings for this but I have only tried it on OS X. Maybe this is a firewall issue on your computer?

  • EyeTV software doesn't connect to ATV2 via airplay

I updated EyeTV software on both Mac and iPad, but EyeTV doesn't connect ATV2 via airplay. All other apps do.

I had a similar problem: I could stream my EyeTV recordings (sitting on my MacBook Pro) to my iPhone 4 using the EyeTV app.  (Note: EyeTV has to "prepare" the recordings for iphone/ipad access after recording them.  Usually takes about the same amount of time as the length of the recording).
So I could view the recordings on my iphone 4, but when I tried to airplay the recording the iphone screen would turn to the "this content is playing on your apple tv", but the apple tv display would not change at all.
I rebooted my phone and then it worked, but then later it wouldn't work again.  Seems like the eyetv software is a bit buggy.

  • Spotify is stuttering when using it via airplay-Ipad 3/Iphone4s

I am using AppleTv and connect my Ipad or Iphone4s to it and listen to music via Spotify. It keeps stuttering and it is a verybad experience. When i play films or series from Netflix it works perfect, when i look at a play channel (ex SVT Play in Sweden) thru my ipad and connect it via airplay, it also works perfect. Only thing who dosent work the way i want is Spotify. I use wifi, i have 24/22 mbit/s. I have changed channels. Anyone who has any ideas to solve the problems?

So, I'm not sure what happened between yesterday and today, but it is playing my phone queue from my computer with no issues, but the song being displayed on my phone is not the one playing. I can live with that.

  • New Deskjet 3520 - print has changed to draft quality now I have changed connectivity of printer

    Hi,
Hope that you can help me
I have a new Deskjet3520 printer. It was working well via USB connection and I was happy with the prints that came from it
I have now connected now via wireless connection.
The system did all the hard work and I was very impressed with how easy it was.
However, I now have a problem, I have printed off a sheet of text that is all black text with the email address part in blue. The prints are coming out as if in draft format - pale grey with the blue portion coming out pale pink!
I haven't changed any settings, just trying to print off text.
Just tried it agin and now thgere are just faint markings on the page
I have checked the setup and it is definately set for colour printing and NOT for draft
I only purchased the printer late December and it has HP inks
    Can anyone help me please?

It sounds like the Deskjet 3520 has developed a print quality issue.  It doesn't appear that the printer has begun using a draft mode, but instead has most likely gotten some ink dried up in the ports of the printhead for the unit.
Have you tried running the Clean Printhead utility in the Setup menu of the printer?
Follow these steps to run an automatic utility to clean the printhead.
Load letter or A4, unused, plain white paper into the paper tray.
On the product control panel, press the Down Arrow ( ) to select Settings , and then press OK .
Press the Down Arrow ( ) to select Tools , and then press OK .
Press the Down Arrow ( ) to select Clean Printhead , and then press OK . The product cleans the printhead, and then prints a test page.
I would advise running 3 levels of the clean printhead utility.  Also try performing an ink system reset to this unit.  It may have some ink on the electrical contacts causing the printer to not communicate properly with the cartridges.  For information on how to perform an ink system reset click here.
As well, there are additional steps for a print quality issue found here.  Let me know how it goes.

  • Why is music streamed from my MacBook Pro to Apple TV via AirPlay choppy?

I'm trying to stream music from iTunes on my MacBook Pro to my new Apple TV via AirPlay, but the music is extremely choppy, cutting in and out. It's completely unlistenable. However, I can use AirPlay to stream from my Macbook Pro to my Pioneer VSX 1021 AirPlay enabled receiver with no issues. Additionally, I can stream from my iPhone or iPad to the Apple TV without these issues. Therefore it would appear wifi bandwidth is not the root cause. I'm stumped. Help!

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first.

    About AirPlay and Airplay Mirroring
AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). For non-qualifying Macs you can try using Air Parrot.

  • Can you download movies into iTunes then watch them via airplay without an internet connection?  We want to be able to watch them in our RV that does have an internet connection always.

Can you download movies into iTunes and watch them via airplay without an internet connection?  We want to be able to watch downloaded movies in our RV.

If you want to watch on your iPad screen, you don't even need airplay.
If you want to watch on a television screen, you need an AppleTV.
    In both cases...
If the movies are purchased, there is no need for an Internet connection to the outside world.  If they're rented, you need an Internet connection for the first minute or so that Apple knows that you're watching the movie.  I do not know if a rented movie can be stopped and restarted without an Internet connection.

  • How can I stream music via AirPlay but still have an internet connection?

    Hi guys,
Ive just bought an Airplay speaker but I seem to be missing something here as I can't figure out how to stream my audio on my iPhone to the AirPlay speaker but still use the internet by either WiFi or 3G at the same time. I stream all my music using iTunes Match or Spotify.
There are volume buttons, a power button and wifi button on the AirPlay speaker. The instructions state to press the wifi button for a few seconds then it will appear as a wifi connection on other devices. And so it does. It comes up in my wifi list on my iPhone and on my Mac too. So as it suggests, I connect to the speaker's wifi connection, and if I go to the Control Centre, AirPlay gives me the option to choose the speaker and it connects to it fine. It streams music that's locally on my iPhone, but when I try to connect to Spotify, stream something using iTunes Match or just use the internet on my phone, there's absolutely no connection. Of course it seems to be using the speaker as the primary and only connection to the internet.
If I try to connect back to my home wifi network, I get my internet connection back, but lose connection to the AirPlay speaker! It just disappears altogether. So what am I doing wrong here?
I've tried the same on my Mac but having the exact same problem. Can anyone please advise me where I'm going wrong?
Other notes: I am using a Virgin Media Superhub 2 with dual band 2 and 5 GHz connection options, Technika AirPlay Speaker, iPhone 5S and a MacBook Pro.
    Thank you in advance!

You're not setting things up properly. You need to first connect this speaker to YOUR network, not create a network using the speaker. I suspect there is a setup menu for this speaker to do so. Check the documentation or the maker's web site for instructions.

  • Can iPad3 connect to Apple TV via Airplay, and Bluetooth speaker at the same time?

I'm making a best man speech using Keynote at a wedding tomorrow, for which I need audio as well as video. The Apple TV is connected via HDMi to the projector, and I can control the presentation wirelessly from my iPad. So far so good. There is a Bluetooth-enabled speaker which my iPad can connect to via Bluetooth, but then it loses the Airplay connnection to the Apple TV. Is there a work around? I guess if I had an Airplay-enabled speaker and not a Bluetooth enabled one, I'd be OK, but I don't have time to go buy one now.
It appears my only option if I want to use the speaker (which I do), is to use my MacbookPro instead and connect via HDMI straight into the projector and bypass the Apple TV altogether. Which means I'm stuck standing by the macbook pressing SPACE BAR every time I want to change slides, as opposed to using the iPad wirelessly which lets face it would look far cooler!

Pretty sure you can't route the audio via bluetooth and the headphone jack.

  • Can I use ipod touch 5th to mirror my screen on Apple TV via Airplay with out wifi connection?

Can I use ipod touch 5th to mirror my screen on Apple TV via Airplay with out wifi connection?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Peer-to-peer AirPlay
With peer-to-peer AirPlay, your iOS device and Apple TV don't need to be on the same Wi-Fi network. If you have one of these products, you can use peer-to-peer AirPlay:
    * iPhone 5 or later, iPad (3rd generation or later), iPad mini, or iPod touch (5th generation) using iOS 8 or later.
    * Apple TV (3rd generation rev A, model A1469 or later) with Apple TV software 7.0 or later. Find out which Apple TV model you have.
To use peer-to-peer AirPlay, your iOS device needs to have both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on.
