I have created an apple account, yet everytime I try to download even a free app, it's telling me to 'review my account' - please help! I'm an apple novice so any advice would be good.

Read the steps carefully as the order in which you follow them is critical. Note that you can do this only when creating a new Apple ID. You cannot use an existing ID.
You will of course not be able to get anything other than the free apps without entering in some sort of payment method (credit card, prepaid iTunes card, gift certificate, etc.)

I have to close the transfer or shut off the machine half the time. Worst computer I have EVER owned, crashes non-stop, constantly freezes, and seems like EVERY operation is more complicated with this thing. Literally, my 1997 Compaq was FAR MORE reliable and user friendly.

This is one of the messages I keep getting; The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in -- File Whatever -- can’t be read or written.(Error code -36)

If you do get 3G, you only use cellular when wifi is not available. You pay by the month for a 3/4G plan.

Being asked for billing info even though I have gift card money.

This morning, I tried to buy a song on itunes and I got a message about billing info and a credit card that is about to expire. I thought it was strange because I have gift card money on itunes right now and I don't know why I was being asked to provide that information. So, as of now, I can't buy ANYTHING without that message popping up! HELP!

They verify the account and information using the cc.
It should still take the money out of the gift card, but you will very likely need to enter the information.

I have purchased 5 iPads and 1 iPhone 4S in the UK thinking if I invest in an Apple top of the range I am covered worldwide for usage. Apparently not!
Got the phone as a PAYG and use with vodaphone, but got it direct from Apple.
Any help to buy a microchip from Japan would be much appreciated.

You sound like an Apple support guy who hasn't been able to answer my questions.
To respond to some of the points you made,
- I did not ignore Ocean20's suggestion. If you has read my post, you would have known that I took my phone to the apple service centre where they tried this restore on THEIR machines. I am assuming that Apple guys know how not to block iTunes. So I actually do not understand your point about me trying the hosts file changes on my machine. Do you not believe that apple tested this issue with the correct settings?
- you also give a flawed logic of why the issue is a hardware issue. You mentioned that If I thought that the issue was with the software, i should try a restore and getting it to work. The problem is that my error (23), and many others comes up when the restore fails. And you would be astonished to know that not all errors are hardware errors. Sometimes even software errors prevent restores. Funnily enough Apple itself mention that 'in rare cases, error 23 could be hardware related'.
- all Apple has done so far is replicate the issue. I don not know how anyone can conclude that the issue is a hardware issue.
And by the way, I am not certain that this is a software bug. Again if you read my Posts, you will notice I only want a confirmation,/proof that the issue is hardware related as they mention..

Could you try these steps to alleviate the access issue you're having:
Choose Edit > Preferences (Win) or Adobe Reader > Preferences (Mac)
Click 'Online Services' on the left-hand side
Sign out of our Adobe ID and sign back in.
Try to convert your document again.
If you continue to have trouble, please verify that you can access the service via the web interface. To do this:
Open a browser and navigate to http://exportpdf.acrobat.com/signin.html
Try to log in with your Adobe ID (email address) and password
Once logged in, follow the on-screen prompts to convert a file
Let us know if you're still having trouble and we'll try to help!

Thank you for the help. Every app on my phone was downloaded using my old I-tunes ID. I just hope that they will re-download under my new ID because I still can't change it on my phone. In order to change to the new ID it says I have to sign out from the old ID and change to the new one. My problem is that I don't remember my password to be able to sign out from my old ID. Then the phone says it can change my password through e-mail and I agree but I never get an e-mail at my old address or the new one.

If you update your billing information, the iTunes Store will place an authorization hold on your payment card account, usually in the amount of 1 USD, to verify your account information. It will be credited back to your account later.

Thanks. I do not think that the phone is stolen as I have been able to get it unlocked and surely the phone would be repoted stolen and blocked. What I do not ubderstand is that I thought icoud was just somewhere to back up your data instead of saving it to your computer if that is the case why is it stopping the actual hone from loading the previous owner rest it to factory settings before selling it but refused to get it unlocked. The phone would work with a Vodaphne sim as I understand it althought I did not try before i gave it to a shop to unlock. surely they would have knon before unlocking that there was a problem with icloud and that they woyld not be able to do it. I don't think so.I have my account and there's no credit cards attached to it.
It runs completely on just iTunes credit.

I am in the very early planning stages of creating a Server based network for my business. I have several issues which can be solved using a server. As a photographer I keep beating my HD space and will wind up with a RAID system like a Drobo FS. Another issue is uploading images from a shoot to the server which will require configuring a VPN - some have suggested a server domain name then access storage or other areas from the domain. I've basically been told I will need a static IP address to make this whole system work. I talked with my cable ISP and was told I would have to have a Business Account inorder to have a static IP address. Not only is a business account at least 2x the cost of a residential account but the service (speed) is substantially slower than what I have now. My obvious question is whether I have to have a static IP address to make all this work? I have done considerable reading on the whole server issue and while I've found lots of other answers, I cannot find an absolute answer to this question so I'm going to rely on what I've found to be experts. Many thanks for the guidance.

I have found that with most residential broadband providers (at least with cable) your public IP address stays the same unless you change the hardware that is connected directly to the cable modem. So, if you have the same router connected to the cable modem for a year your public IP address has probably been the same for the last year.
Business class solutions suck in that they cost more and aren't usually as fast (unless of course you want to pay even more money) as residential services but they do get a static IP address and they get all ports unblocked. Since your IP shouldn't change as a residential customer unless you switch hardware the only real gain is the port unblocking.
For me, I wanted to be able to host a mail server and web server on my server and in my house. That is the reason I switched to a business class account. I was able to run AFP, iCal, Address Book, and VPN services over the internet on my residential account (because those ports weren't blocked) but because I wanted to run a mail server and web server - and not violate my provider's TOS by running a server on a residential connection - I upgraded to business class.
