Have to keep deleting preferences!

Thank god I actually found some nice advice on a forum that recommended preference manager for slow behaviour...
My mac was soooooo slow... I would jump out of fcpx and into the file manager and then have to wait 2 minutes before I could do something again in fcpx.
I was ******... mainly because I have a brand new i7 with the extra 2 gig on the memory card and 16 gig of memory!
However... once I deleted the preferences everything ran like a dream again!
HOWEVER... I have to do this for every project it seems!

Here's my pet answer for this (very common) question - don't lose heart! It's an awesome application - you just need to see why it's not working well on your system.
FCP X runs very well (not perfectly, by any means) on my 2009 MacPro 2 x 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon with 16 GB RAM and ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024 MB
First, check the spec of your iMac against the system requirements:

Particularly your graphics card. If it's listed here, it's not suitable:

If you are getting crashes, there is some conflict on the OS. Create a new (admin) user account on your system and use FCP X from there - if it runs a lot better, there's a conflict and a clean install would be recommended.
Other ways to improve performance:
Create optimised media.
Hide Waveforms at all times when you don't need them (both in Browser and Storyline / Timeline). They take up a lot of processor power.
Create folders in the Project library and put any projects you are not working on currently, in there. (Twirl it closed to hide them).
Move your Projects and Events to an external HD (make sure it's formatted OS Extended - with journaled on or off) and run from there.
The biggest single improvement I saw in performance was when I upgraded the RAM from 8 GB to 16.

Ok, i guess 2 months ago, nobody answered my question. I get very frustrated.
Here we go again........I have to keep deleting my cache in order to use facebook and I noticed with hotmail as well. so please don't tell me to clear my cache, I already did that. I use igoogle for my start page. I noticed everything on google doesn't load. So I clear my cache. The it happens again, it happens several times during the day. If you need to delete the cache that often then it appears that you have either an extension or external (cleanup) software causing problems with the cache. If shouldn't be necessary to clear the cache under normal conditions.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Buying storage on iCloud get you additional space on the iCloud server for email, contacts, calendars, iWork Documents etc.
It does not buy you extra storage/memory on your iPad. That consists of physical memory chips inside the iPad and it is not possible to upgrade it. You will either have to continue deleting as necessary to make more space, or buy a new iPad with more memory.

I keep deleting the empty recovered photo files but it just keeps asking me every time I go to open iPhoto! I'd love to just get rid of the "found" photos (I can't open them anyway!)

Open your iPhoto Library package with the Finder.
Click to view full size
look for a folder titled Import or Importing and move it to the Desktop. Launch iPhoto to see if the message goes away. If there is no message check the contents of the Import folder to see if you want to keep any of those image files (usually they have not been imported into iPhoto). If you want to keep them then drag the folder into the open iPhoto window to import.

I keep gettin updates from my app store but yet when I go in and update all it starts the update and then pops up and tells me that the application cannot be downloaded at this time. I have had to delete a few apps bc this isn't working.

First check that your device is not full, maybe you may have to delete some photos or apps to make space to do updates. if its not full then you will have to try pluging it into your pc/mac running itunes then doing a backup and restore. Then you should be able to do your updates.
Sorry but i cant think of any other way if its showing as installed already but is not there.

Hi Go to Settings Email Accounts Delete Accounts Then add them back again. If that doesn't work Do a Factory Restore. Cheers Brian

I thought this my be my charger but the charger works fine on another phone. it will not allow texts to come through properly and sometimes will not not let me ring people it just freezes and i have to turn it off and on a couple of times in order for it to work. it will not let me update apps and the silent button is not silent it still go's of on ringer.The keyboard will freeze up not allowing me to type anything. It wants me to pay £126.44 for it to be repaire when i have nothing to do with why its not working!

I guess he/she open Notes in Gmail settings. This archives (one way sync) notes in gmail account under notes label that is invisible if you are using the standard gmail setup on your iPhone. You can see it on desktop browser, Safari or gmail app in iDevice. Am I wrong?

However you dont want to set your MBP to never go to sleep...
Adjust reasonable sleep settings...
And the download an APP called caffiene...
When you click it you can have your MBP never go to sleep with a single click of your menu bar... and with another click it can go to sleep normally to maintain the laptop...
Simply click the cup... To toggle never sleep/sleep

I do not have a startup disk. I did try fsck (based on what I learned from your reply-thank you). This failed (fsck); here is the message:

Check Settings > General > Usage to display what's taking all your space.

If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the file cookies.sqlite that stores the cookies is corrupted. 
You can rename (or delete) cookies.sqlitecookies.sqlite-journal and cookies.txt, if they exist, in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder] in case cookies.sqlite got corrupted.
