Itunes worked after reseting my computer to factory setting however had trouble again after syncing my iPod and iPod shuffle. Is this a coincidence or could it be the cause of the problem?

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

The latest Apple driver support begins with the MP 171.
Here is Ricoh's official driver download page specifically for the Afico MP 161. Note that new drivers for this device were released on Aug 2, and include Lion and Mountain Lion.

So I reset my Apple ID password. Which then stopped my MobileMe account from working. Hang on - these were 2 different accounts a while ago, with different passwords!!!
So I have logged back in to MobileMe with my AppleID, and that's working again. After a short wait I can now create Home Sharing again.
Folks, I think we have just had our Apple IDs merged with our MobileMe accounts!! With no consultation or warning.
My guess is that this is the most seamless way for Apple to do it, as the vast majority of people use only one email address and one password for everything. Only those of us who had the same email adress but different a different passwords for MobileMe and Apple ID will have noticed. Annoying for us few, but a clever strategy on Apple's part, becasue we have been driven to fix the issue ourselves by chaning the password, and in doing so we have realised that our mobileme account is now the same thing as our Apple ID.

Apple's latest update to iTunes failed to install on my computer with Windows 8.1 64 bit. I have reinstalled in many times, removed Itunes via Control Pannel, etc. etc. No luck. Hi everyone, I'm having a really annoying problem in installing iTunes 11.0.3. I use a Dell laptop with windows 8 installed. I tried to download iTunes 11.0.3 for Windows 64 bit on apple.com. The size is actually 85Mb, but my downloads keep downloading the 77.5Mb version. So when I installed it turns out to be iTunes 10.2.1.1, the problem is iTunes 10.2.1.1 can't even recognize my iPad and I can't sync anything to it right now. Please help me because this problem is really getting on my nerves. Thank you

I tried the back-up and restore option tonight and it worked a charm.
Not sure why I had the problem in the first place but that was a relatively quick and easy fix :-)

That usually indicates the installer has gotten damaged during the download.
Try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
