Have to Reboot Router Frequently

Ever since I upgraded to Quantum 50/25, I've been experiencing outages with my service.  Everything will be fine for a while, then after a day or two my internet starts crapping out.  I'll start getting "unable to connect" messages from webpages, and have to refresh to connect.  Sometimes this doesn't even work and it won't be able to connect to anything.  If I reboot the router everything seems to fix itself for a while, and then the cycle restarts.  Any ideas?

Ok, If it's happening on wired, then you may want to reset your service terminal, follow these instructions "How do I reboot the ONT?"
after that, reboot your router again, and then watch and see if the problem comes back. If it does then you might have a problem with either the service terminal itself or the cabling going to the router.  I don't think it's the router anymore because you have already replaced it.

  • Have to reboot router at least once a day otherwise it slows down

Over the last few days my internet speeds drop to a crawl at least once a day until I reboot the router. It slows down to 100kb or so. One I reboot the router it hits back to 50mb.
Is there setting in the router to fix this or do I just have a bad router?

Hard to say with certainty but if it resolves itself for the time being after every time you reset it then yeah, you should contact support and ask that they send you a replacement router.
Do be prepared to do some basic troubleshooting with them over the phone though.

  • URGENT!! Have to reboot Router once a day

We are an ISP that we have DSL users connect over a DS3 ATM ciruit. The problem is after about 12 hours, when users try to do PPPoE they get an Error 772. The only we we have found to fix this is to reboot the router. PLEASE HELP.

    Hi,
The next time you reboot the router, before you reboot it capture the "show tech-support" output and log a case with Cisco TAC if you have priv to do so else you can post it here.

  • Photosmart D110 losing network connection - I have to reboot my router every time I print

Every time I have to print the printer cannot be found by any device (desktop (mac and windows), laptop, iphone, or ipad).
The printer says it is connected to the wireless network, but no device can see it and the desktops show it as offline.
The only way to remedy the situation is to reboot the wireless router.  I am not sure if this just happens over time or every time the D110 goes to sleep.  Either way it renders the wireless feature of this device useless and frankly why have it if I have to reboot the entire network any time anyone in the house wants to print something.  This is quite frustrating.

Try update the firmware of router.

  • HT1695 I have the 1st generation iPad.  All of a sudden it will not connect to my wi-fi.  It finds my wi-fi, but will not totally connect.  I have done everything...reset network, rebooted router etc and it still will not connect.  Any suggestions?

I have the 1st generation iPad.  All of a sudden it will not connect to my wi-fi.  It finds my wi-fi, but will not totally connect.  I have done everything...reset network, rebooted router etc and it still will not connect.  My other divices are connected....iPhone and 3 Macs.  Any suggestions?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Try turning WiFi off on the iPad, then reset it again, turn WiFi on again and join your network again if necessary. Or go to Settings>WiFi>Your network name>Forget this network. Reset your iPad and then join your network again. Or - settings>General>Reset>Reset network settings. Reset the iPad, then try to join your network again.

  • Everytime I turn on Outlook, it kills my internet connection and I have to reboot the router

As the title says, each time I turn on Outlook with Office 365, it kills my internet connection and I have to reboot the router. I can still login to the router admin and do a soft reboot. This kills the internet for all the computers on my network as well.
The weird exception to this is when I'm connected to my work VPN, then everything is fine.  Also, should be noted, it never did this at first...then started doing it randomly and stopped after a while...now a few months later, it started doing it agian.
Is there some sort of weird port forwarding I should be using?
I'm running through an Exchange server.
    Windows 7 Pro
    Router is a D-Link 857 - HD Media Router 3000..running latest firmware.
Everything is setup standard. No firewalls except the standard Windows firewall and the router is a really basic config.
Please any insight would be great!

    Hello AyaTheBookWorm,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
I can definitely understand how this is frustrating, I would feel the same way.  To troubleshoot this issue please see the steps below, as well as checking out the Wireless Diagnostics.
Symptom: The network connection drops unexpectedly
Your Mac may not not stay connected to your Wi-Fi network reliably.
Your Mac may stop accessing the Internet during use.
    Solution
Use these steps if your computer disconnects from its Wi-Fi network unexpectedly.
Check your range to the Wi-Fi router and reduce the effect of interference.
If your computer is too far from your Wi-Fi router or your environment has too much Wi-Fi interference, then your computer may not detect the Wi-Fi network properly. The easiest way to check for range limits with your Wi-Fi network is to move your computer or your Wi-Fi router closer together and make sure that there are no obstructions (such as walls, cabinets, and so forth) between the router and your computer.
See Potential sources of wireless interference for more information about interference and solutions.
Try connecting to a different Wi-Fi network. If your computer works fine when connected to a different Wi-Fi network, then the issue may be related to your network router or ISP. In that case, contact the manufacturer of your router or your ISP.

  • WRT54GL disconnects frequently, have to reboot every day. Help?!

    Hi All,
I'm quite tech savvy having been in IT for over 10 years, but my WRT54GL has always given me some trouble, but since updating to the latest firmware I now have to reboot it daily. I have downloads going overnight and by the time the morning comes, none of the computers can connect wirelessly and even the wired connection can't ping the router, so I unplug it and plug it back in and it works for a while, but by the next morning it all happens again. I set the MTU per the solution/instructions here: http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=4031&lid=
(1300, ISP pinged at 1272 and but nit higher) but it doesn't seem to have helped. Any tips?
    Thanks!
    B

Check the firmware version from the status page of the router ...if required upgrade download the latest firmware from http://linksys.com/download ... After upgrade reset & reconfigure the router ..

  • HP Laserjet 100 MFP 175nw, Printer loses connection and have to reboot to print

    This is super annoying.
Had this printer for a few months and it worked great. Changed my wireless password a couple weeks ago and now the dang thing has to be rebooted almost everytime it needs to print.
Today I did a fresh install on my iMac for it and after a couple hours it went right back to being unavailable. Help... before I smash it!
To note: I downloaded the driver install pkg fresh today from HPs site and used that for installation so the firmware can't be out of date.

So you changed the password on your router and when you need to print you have to reboot the router.   What is the status of the printer when this occurs?   Does the printer have a valid IP address at the time?  Does the router see the printers IP address?
Say thanks by clicking the Kudos Thumbs Up to the right in the post.
If my post resolved your problem, please mark it as an Accepted Solution ...

  • Why do I always have to reboot my apple tv 2 to get it to work?

Every time I turn my apple tv back on I have to reboot it. If I don't, the only options I see are Internet Computers and Settings. Once I reboot it I get the full options. This is really annoying and makes no sense. Any thoughts?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Sounds like you are losing connection to the internet to me, this could be your network settings or interference if you use wifi.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel.
