Have used Appleworks for years. Not a computer wiz. How easy to use is 'pages'

I'm not a computer wiz, just an ex secretary. I've used Appleworks for years. Now need to update.
How easy is 'pages' to change to?

I'm guessing that if you were not a "power user" of Appleworks, you will find Pages to be quite easy. More so if you take just a few hours to read the User Guide before you begin, and if you consult the User Guide as you encounter things you don't understand immediately.
There are many users here who can help you get started.

It will install as a fully functional 30 day trial. Entering your serial number will convert it to a permanent version, Standard or Extended, depending on what serial number you purchased.

iTunes is free... there is no membership fee.
Try providing some specifics about what is going on and others might be able to provide a resolution.

Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, you do not see the option to buy a song from the iPod. Are you trying to buy the song in iTunes on Windows or from the iPod? I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

I've tried both. First, I tried on my pc, where iTunes had installed iCloud when it last updated. I have iTunes installed on this computer (and on my iPad and iPhone), but that wasn't the issue.
So I went online, thinking I needed a separate iCloud Apple ID, but it prompted me for my current Apple ID and gave me the message about my ID being "valid" but not an iCloud account," which, lol, was what it had asked me to do in order to create one. I've just upgraded to Lion from Snow Leopard and to my surprise it does not support my 'Appleworks' application software. Ihave used Appleworks for all correspondence for six years and need to refer to the files (letters etc.) from time to time. Is my only option to revert back to Snow Leopard?

The reason appleworks no longer runs is because it is a powerpc based application. Since it's end-of-life in 2007, it was never converted to intel architecture, since it was dropped as a supported product. It continued to run on intel machines via rosetta, but OS X Lion formally discontinues all support for powerpc based programs. Powerpc based applications can only be run on OS X 10.6.8 or earlier releases (ones that still support rosetta).
So, it does sound like your best option is to move to iWorks' Pages now - otherwise you will be stuck with an increasingly more outdated operating system. And if you should buy a new machine, it would not run the older versions of OS X anyway, so at some point you have to leave appleworks behind and move on. Seems best to do it now, before Pages perhaps also moves forward to a point where it too may no longer support ancient file formats.

When I click on the Firefox icon, my homepage opens to about 95% and then it stops reponding. If I click on anything, I get the message that it is "not responding:. I have used Firefox for years with no problems. What can I do?

I have used Firefox for years and it has been great until a few days ago. Now when I try to open it, the homepage from a few days ago opens, but the green bar on the lower right fills in about 95%. On the lower left it says "transferring data from l1.yimg.com but it freezes there. If I click on anything, it says (not responding) on the upper left. I have been using iTunes for years on my PC, using Windows 7. I tried re-installing iTunes but get an error message that says, "iTunes can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer."

Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with iTunes. I suggest removing iTunes and all related components and reinstalling iTunes for the issue you described. The following article has steps to do this(it is important to remove all components in the order listed):

Could not get firefox to start this time, have been using it for years

Check the date and time and time zone in the clock on your computer: (double) click the clock icon on the Windows Taskbar.
Check out why the site is untrusted and click "Technical Details" to expand this section.
If the certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided (sec_error_unknown_issuer) then see if you can install this intermediate certificate from another source.
You can retrieve the certificate and check details like who issued certificates and expiration dates of certificates.
*Click the link at the bottom of the error page: "I Understand the Risks"
Let Firefox retrieve the certificate: "Add Exception" -> "Get Certificate".

You are probably using an old version of iTunes with which the stream link service seems to have stopped working for many users of older iTunes. No, Apple makes no comment about this kind of thing. It may reappear, it may not (it has been dead for over a week now). Your solution is to upgrade the operating system version on your computer from 10.5.8 to 10.6.8 so you can run a newer iTunes, or live without. You can still open streams if you can get the URL, and you can then save them as playlist items.
