Have used firefox for 3 years, have a new computer now and every time I go into my normal places I get a warning about encrypted page and third party viewing, please help!
I have used Mozilla Firefox for 3 years with no issues. I have now purchased a new laptop (Samsung) and cannot access my regular sites (like Windows Live or my banking, most everything) without getting a Yellow waring arrow stating that I am going into an encrypted page and third parties are able to see what I am doing. I am very concerned if others are having access. My bank says it has nothing to do with them...it is an https secure site. I still have major concerns, please help!
For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
That all works.
It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now. They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.
Thanks for listening,
Melissa

I have used Firefox for years and it has been great until a few days ago. Now when I try to open it, the homepage from a few days ago opens, but the green bar on the lower right fills in about 95%. On the lower left it says "transferring data from l1.yimg.com but it freezes there. If I click on anything, it says (not responding) on the upper left. I have uninstalled Firefox twice and redownloaded it and the exact same thing happens. Please help me. Thank you, Dave Schumer

The support page is ridiculous, it assumes you already have Firefox and that the install went fine. I am having trouble with an update to Version 4. I have an ibook G4 running OS X. I have used Firefox for years. When I downloaded the update, the Firefox logo thing that you are supposed to drag to the Applications folder has a white circle with a line through it. I have rebooted many times and have updated all other software.
Hello,
I wouldn't trust any Firefox "update" from a non-Mozilla website. Sometimes, unofficial builds contain adware or malware. If you want to use Firefox for AOL do so at your own risk. -
Have used Appleworks for years. Not a computer wiz. How easy to use is 'pages'
I'm not a computer wiz, just an ex secretary. I've used Appleworks for years. Now need to update.
How easy is 'pages' to change to?P73,
I'm guessing that if you were not a "power user" of Appleworks, you will find Pages to be quite easy. More so if you take just a few hours to read the User Guide before you begin, and if you consult the User Guide as you encounter things you don't understand immediately.
There are many users here who can help you get started.

If some of the features on the tutorial are not new, I didn't know about them and have never used them. The video moved along very quickly. I found it difficult to keep up. I couldn't find the "Firefox button" referred to in the instructions. It seems there a lot of great features available that I would like to use. I don't like Safari or IE. I much prefer Firefox, but I need clearer guidance. Thank you for any help you might offer.
You have no Firefox Menu button on a Mac.<br />
The Firefox button is only available on Windows and Linux and shows when the Menu bar is hidden.<br />
On Mac the menu bar is maintained by the Mac OS and not by Firefox and the Menu bar is always visible and can't be hidden, so there is no need for such a menu button.<br /> -
I never have problems with Firefox before. I usually don't put my Mac on sleep mode but I did do that last night. I don't know if that caused the problem or not. I tried to restart my computer thinking that might help but it didn't.
Try:

You can also try to move (delete) the Firefox plist file.<br />
See [http://www.macfixit.com/article.php?story=20060606082246983 How .plist files become corrupt and troubleshooting the results]<br />
Go to "Library > Preferences" and remove the plist file for Firefox (org.mozilla.firefox.plist). -
I'm not sure if this is the appropriate forum but couldn't find anywhere else to ask the question. Seriously, open source is about resisting the demands that society makes on us to conform and you want to make somebody like that your CEO? I will go elsewhere.
I'm sorry, bland assurances don't cut it. His appointment is deeply distressing. The open source community is supposed to be about openness freedom - the fact that you are prepared to overlook his views in this respect says much about the fact that we have much further left to go. I still won't be using Firefox

I don't remember my old username and password, as computer automatically logged-in.
Are there still JSON backups in the bookmarkbackups folder?

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder -
But I am trying to open the document, not save it - I no longer seem to have the option to do that. Any ideas?
Does this only affect particular types of files?
I would first check whether you have "Save File" set for that document type instead of "Always Ask" in the following dialog:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Applications
This take a few seconds to populate, then you can scroll down or use the search box there to filter the list to find the type of document that's having a problem.
If Firefox is no longer responsive to the settings in that dialog, it could indicate that the settings file which stores your download preferences has become corrupted. To reset download preferences back to defaults, try this:
Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using
Help > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button
Switch back to Firefox and Exit
Pause while Firefox finishes its cleanup, then rename '''mimeTypes.rdf''' to something like mimeTypes.old.
Restart Firefox. Hopefully now you will get the customary Open/Save/Cancel dialog when expected.
(If you had set a custom email handler, such as Windows Live Mail, unfortunately, you will need to set that up again. We can help with such things.)
Any luck? -
I have tried two versions of firefox, 4 and 5, but none work.
Thank you.Missing:

Does it work in Firefox Safe Mode (see below)
Also check [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Problematic_extensions Problematic Extensions]
Restart Firefox in Safe Mode with Help ("Alt+H") > "Restart with Add-ons disabled" to restart immediately (one-time) in safe mode. Do not check-mark any of the items (they are certainly not safe as they make those changes permanent). -
what do I have to do to remedy this. I have Windows xp.
hello adeseilie, this seems to be caused by this Speedbit Video Accelerator software that you've recently installed (a quick search on google brings up quite a few reports with similar issues). please remove the software in the windows control panel/programs section...

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

Windows Task Manager shows CPU usage spiking periodically from 1-2% to 100% and the PF Usage is up too.
I can comment that the only routine I had to block in the latest version, was plugin-container.exe.
It seem to isolate other plugins, but its connected to the internet and makes a backdoor that my firewall didnt understand.
the isolation must be ment to protect the browser from crashing plugins like Adobe Flash, Apple Quicktime and more, but in fact I never experienced a crash in them.
Sålunda, I made a small program that blocks plugin-container.exe from starting.
The backdoor once started a heavy activity, 80% of my total cpu-power (wich is very much for a quadruple of potential cpu) and I noticed it exactly that way -typing got slower.
Who wants such backdoors?
Suddenly Microsoft crawels in to it :) -
I've used Firefox for years, and now can's open it--why?
I have used Firefox for years. Now suddenly I am being blocked from getting onto it. I downloaded the new Firefox 4, but still am blocked! It's as if I'm not authorized to get onto Firefox.
Many users have struggled with this. Could I point you to this thread for several different approaches: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/935062 How do I get rid of 'start.search.us.com' always making itself my 'Home Page' on Firefox? And no, the obvious actions will not work.]
