Have you taken your Zen Touch apart ye

Hello,
I am starting to get bored waiting .....so I need something to do.
I am getting curious about what the Touch looks like inside.
Has anyone taken their Touch apart? Any tricks, tips, caveats?
I know it blows the warranty...but I don't really care.
I am curious as to what battery they are using etc.
Does anyone have internal pics?
Also, I put one index card over the touch area, then 2, 3 etc over the touch area and it
seems to "sense" or "read through" the index cards. Does anyone know how the touch pad works?
My goal was to try and make it less sensiti've. It seems to act like a stud finder.
I have been reading about people getting water etc in their touch and I put mine in a waterproof
see through container and the Touch read through the soft plastic just fine. I put a small fm transmitter in there with it and it worked fine....so ok to take on a boat, etc and xmit to the radio and if it falls in water...no problem. They sell these pouches at Cabelas.
Has anyone made a rat pack for the touch? There are not many after market accessories for the Touch like the Ipod. Has anyone found any "cross over" accessories?
I am getting restless....

SSR, thank you for your help in my other questions...
Do you know if there are any advantages/disadvantages to charging via USB? Just curious. Would it charge at a lower voltage? etc It would be easy to make... I just never have.
That is why I want to look at the battery. The charging circuit turns off automatically .( I think you pointed this out to me in another post.)
I have a little battery (flat) for my Pilot that either extends the life of the palm OR charges 2times. I was wanting to come up with something like that for the touch. I really hate to depend on a computer or power supply to charge. I need therapy in that area. Very seldom have I ever really been stranded without power.
I also have a 4AA solar micro charger that works nicely. It does take about 3-4 days to get a good charge on them however. This is about the time the time the Touch lasts if I use it heavily.
Did you forget your link? Or did it go missing? :
PS....
I really like your Rome pictures of the Pizza garden. I had instant salivation.Message Edited by kbarnsda on 08-7-2005 02:0 AM

  • How do you backup your Zen Touch (or any other playe

I have some seen posts that suggest that you backup your MP3 player. This sounds like a sensible idea. I own a Zen Touch, and so far have been using WMP 0 exclusi'vely to sync files to my ZT.
Can someone tell specifically how I might backup my ZT (even though I have all my music on my PC, so I probably do not need to do something explicitly)?
I think others might find this backup information useful.

hot_guitar: Backing up is covered in my Nomad Primer, but as Cat intimates, it's just a case of backing up the data. There's no way just to image the player, for example.
lukeg_uk: Similar to hot_guitar, take a look at my Nomad Primer. I think you'll find you can't copy files with DRM back to the PC. I would guess there are guides about backing up the licenses and the files on the PC itself, at least you would hope (and this is one of the irritations about DRM).

  • If you lose your ipod touch and you have a warranty how much would you have to pay to get a new one?

if you lose your ipod touch and you have a warranty how much would you have to pay to get a new one?

Full price. Warranty covers only manufacturing defects, not you losing the iPod.
Perhaps homeowners insurance of your credit card plan, if you used a credit card to purchase the original iPod, might cover all or part of the cost.
    Regards.

  • I have recently bought a zen touch (20gb) and need help putting music on

I have recently bought a zen touch (20gb) and i can't figure how to get music from Creative media Source to my Zen. I know how to select all tracks (i have 745) but i can't find the transfer button. If someone could help me it would be greatly appreciated.

You can use either the left arrow or the right arrow to transfer, depending on whether you view the content of your MP3 player on the left or on the right. Creative MediaSource is so fliexible that it offers you to view your different music sources in different panels. Apparently, you you may not be aware that you can view the content of your MP3 player in the right panel. Just to to the View Menu and you can select what you want to view in the right panel.

  • How can you get your ipod touch open when you forgot the password and its disabled and not connected to wifi

How can you get your iPod touch open when you forgot the password and its disabled and not connected to the Internet Connection and you don't want to reset it.

    Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

  • Is it normal when you closed your ipod touch and your theme song is gone?

Is it normal when you closed your _ipod touch 2nd generation_ and your theme song is gone? What I mean is that when I listened to this certain song and I closed the ipod and I opened the ipod up again, and go to "music" to listen to the song that I just listen, the "Now Playing" page is not coming up no more. Instead, the whole music's page come up. I'm just wondering if this is normal for the ipod touch? Or there is something wrong with mine? If it not normal for the ipod touch to be this way, anybody know how to fix it? Your help would be really appreciated.

yes, this is normal behaviour - at least for the 1st Gen, and i can't see any logical idea why it wouldn't - (presumably as when you turn your ipod off, it thinks you are finished with it.) BUT if you just put your ipod into sleep mode, it will remember the song (you will have to pause it, otherwise it will continue playing)

  • How do you update your iPod touch to get imessage

Hi how do you update your iPod touch to get imessage

iMessage is part of iOS 5.0.1 that allows messaging to other Apple products without incurring data carrier charges.  If you have iOS 5.0.1 you already have the ability to text message other iDevices.

  • How do you use your iPod Touch?

I'm thinking of buying an ipod touch 5th gen, but I have to convince myself that it would help me significantly before I drop $300 on a device. My question: how do you use your iPod Touch, aka, what things have helped you significantly, excluding games? I've heard a ton about how awesome the new version is, and everything about its camera and retina display, but I want to know that I would actually use one first....
    Thanks.

Surf the web from bed and coffee shops/bookstores.  When in a store that has WiFi I may research a product that looks interesting to buy.
It is a camera that is always with you (assuming you always take it with you), so you can capture that picture that happens once in a life time.  Also the camera is great when shopping for "Big Ticket" items as you can take pictures to remind you of things you were looking at so you can do additional research at home before making your final decision.
Check my mail from bed and coffee shops/bookstores, etc... when WiFi is available.
Use it as an alarm clock, meeting reminder, todo reminder.
Take notes (not school notes, just ideas, stuff I maybe want to buy, useful information I may pick up in a bookstore, books I may want to buy, etc...)
Contains my contacts for friends, family, and businesses (plumber, dentist, doctor, etc...)
Plays music, or in my case, I listen to podcasts
Reading ebooks.  I use it a lot to read ebooks.  It is always with me, so I can read a book anywhere, such as waiting in a doctor/dentist office, at the motor vehicle registry.  And reading in bed is great as when you fall asleep, it remembers what page you were on vs that book that drops onto your face and wakes you back up while at the same time loosing your page
The Maps app is great for finding where something is located, and plotting how to get there (not as good as having an iPhone with GPS, but still useful).  Also the satellite images make it easier to visualize where you are going.
When connected to WiFi it can be used for Facetime when calling a friend or family member that also has an iOS device.  Seeing a loved one when they are not near can be emotionally satisfying.  You can also make skype calls.
I use 1Password to store all my passwords.  It keeps them secure, I always have them with me, and I do not need to use the same password over and over again, or make them too simple to remember.  1Password has a built-in browser so you it can substitute the correct password for the web site you are visting without actually needing to look it up.
1Password related but not passwords.  Because 1Password encrypts all the data it holds, I can also store sensitive information (such as medical conditions, or other information I do not want made public should my device be lost or stolen), yet always have that information with me should I need it.
I can get the weather.  This week, I've been using an app to get high/low Tide infromation, plus sunrise information.  But getting weather info when you wake up so you can plan your day and if you need to shovel the driveway before going to work.  I find it easier to get the weather from my iOS device than it is to use my laptop or turn on the Weather Channel.
Calclator.  2+2 = 4, but there are times you do need to get something right, and calculators are useful. They have all kinds available, including hexidecimal calculators for programmers.
RSS newsfeed reader (I follow about 20+ feeds, including these discussions groups via RSS feeds).
Travel services.  Most airports have WiFi, and you can get updated travel info for your flights via some speciallized travel apps.
If you are into tracking your car mileage, gas usage, maintenance costs, etc..., there are apps for that.
While you can watch video on your iOS device (downloaded movies, YouTube), you can also stream movies from services such as Netflix.  This can be useful when traveling, or if you are stuck in bed with a cold, or if you have lost control of the "Remote" and do not want to watch "Dancing with the Stars"
TV related, there are apps that will give you the TV schedule for your area, so you can browse the shows on this evening.
List.  You can keep lists, including grocery shopping lists, items to pack for a trip lists, things to do for that bathroom remodel, things you need to get before school starts, Christmas lists, etc....  NOTE:  Ideas for Christmas/Birthday/Anniversary gifts may come anytime during the year, but if you do not write them down, you may be scratching your head when the event arrives.  Putting them in a list can help you later on.
You can get a Level app.  You may laugh, but I have actually used my iOS device to check if something was level.  It was there, and a carpenters level was not.  Not perfect, but it did what I needed at the time.
Finding a good resturante (Yelp, Urbanspoon, etc...).  The iOS device can be very helpful in finding a good nearby place to eat when away from home, or even discovering a new play where you live to get out of that eat at the same place rut.
That is some of the things I use my iOS device for.

  • Have you tried your iPhoto 5 DVD backups with iPhoto 6?

    Hi,
Have you tried your iPhoto 5 DVD backups with iPhoto 6?
When I upgraded to iPhoto 5 I had to rebuild all my previous iPhoto 4 backups to the new version. It took hours and I had to re-burn the DVDs in the new format.
    Thanks,
    -meny

    Hi Lori,
I meant a CD or DVD burned from within iPhoto 5.
If you made such CD/DVD in iPhoto 4 and opened it in iPhoto 5, the library had to be rebuilt. This took up to 15 minutes.
If iPhoto 6 can open iPhoto 5 libraries without a need to rebuild, that's great news!

  • If you jailbreak your ipod touch and crack the screen will the warrenty still work? Also, would the warrenty fix the screen?

If you jailbreak your ipod touch and crack the screen will the warrenty still work? Also, would the warrenty fix the screen? Would it cost money? Its a 5th gen.

Once you jail break Apple won't help with the machine. I'm not even sure if they'll honor an 'out of warranty' replacement.
Accidental damage, which is what a broken screen is, starts at $149 US
