    I have a need to supply a guest network, ideally without introducing additional APs. I have APs that can have additional SSIDs with their own VLANs. I have a router that is not VLAN-aware, but has two physical ports, one of which is for the corp network and the other for the guest (the router ports are isolated). Everything connects through a switch that is VLAN-aware.
    What I'd like to be able to do, is connect both ports from the router to the switch, and configure so that VLAN2 can only communicate to the guest port on the router. And the default VLAN (VLAN1) can only communicate to the default VLAN ports on the switch.A picture is worth a lot more:DLink switch is a DGS-1210-24.I'm getting confused between VID, PVID, 'tagged', 'untagged', and 'not a member', and asymmetrical/symmetrical VLANs.

    @ Onepamopa - thank you for voicing out. I really thought I was one unlucky customer and one of a few to experience such inconvenience and distress over a product and design that Lenovo took pride in. I too have spent 1 month trying to solve the problems with a brand new Lenovo Yoga Pro 3. I am now using laptop number four of the same model in 1 month, a proof of my blind faith in this product and increasing disillusionment....and deludedness... I was already advised by friends and colleagues, after laptop 1 that I should perhaps change brands... Objectively speaking, the after sales service i.e. technical and service support were very helpful, however, when purchasing a brand new product you wouldn't think you'd have problems already from hour 1. Front line and customer service attitude were less than professional and frankly quite rude. I was lucky that I'd purchased through a retailer...otherwise my brand new laptop would be out of the shop and sent straight to repair. @ Limpaar - also thank you for sharing your point. I thought it was great when this assessment came out (though also somewhat ironic)... that there was a channel where I could communicate with Lenovo...where customers' views would be valued and heard... I then was filtered out on the second page and that was the end of that... Is there a Lenovo representative online? I'm not one to cry online without first assessing and taking alternative steps to solve the problem...I have been co-operating and I'd say pretty patient...  Lenovo.... where are you?... Those that do...

  • ADF Faces: oracle.adf.view.faces.CHANGE_PERSISTENCE

    Does anyone have any information about oracle.adf.view.faces.CHANGE_PERSISTENCE. This appears to be un-documented.

    This may help explain the situatin. I originally had JDeveloper 10.1.3.2 installed when I started this tutorial. I then installed JDeveloper 11 version 4 and tried to work the WebCenter Protlet tutorial. When I did it tried to migrage my settings. However, when I attempted to do the tutorial I noticed that it did not have the same options for the WebCenter new applications that would create a Portlet folder. So, I went back to 10.1.3.2 to work the tutorial. No error was flagged at this point but that is when the problems started occuring. I browsed my working directory (C:\Oracle\jdevinstance) where I had my applications stored (C:\Oracle\jdevinstance\mywork) and I noticed that I had what appared to be possible conflicting system files. I had the following system files listed under the working directory: system, system11.1.1.0.17.45.24, system11.1.1.0.22.47.96, and system11.1.1.0.22.49.49. I don't know if this is the issue or not and any feedback about these extra files would be apprecaited?
    In addition, I create a new application (using 10.1.3.2) with a different applicaiton directory (C:\Oracle\jdevinstance\MyWork_10.1.3.2) and started the tutorial over. This time I had no issues with the JSP page and all of my web.xml files are the same version (2.4).

  • Clustering using Oracle ADF - CHECK_STATE_SERIALIZATION=all

    We are using Oracle ADF 11.1.1.6. We have started testing our Oracle ADF application for the cluster compatibility and used following document. We have coded all recommendations given in the document including enabling all applicable java classes to serialization and also setup adf_config.xml <adfc:adf-scope-ha-support>true</adfc:adf-scope-ha-support> and <adf:adf-scope-ha-support>true</adf:adf-scope-ha-support> exactly as per given in the document.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E12839_01/core.1111/e10106/adf.htm
    Now, to check High Availability on a standalone web logic server for debugging purpose we configured Java Option "-Dorg.apache.myfaces.trinidad.CHECK_STATE_SERIALIZATION=all" as per the recommendation.
    After setting this flag system started throwing bunch of errors similar to the error given below.
    [2012-07-26T14:17:43.602-04:00] [OPERA_ADF1] [ERROR] [] [org.apache.myfaces.trinidadinternal.config.CheckSerializationConfigurator$MutatedBeanChecker] [tid: [ACTIVE].ExecuteThread: '17' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)'] [userId: edozer] [ecid: 64915ee7c1860d85:40a983d1:138bf4550b2:-7ffd-0000000000005fcb,0] [APP: OperaApplications_o90_smoke#V9.0.0] Failover error: Serialization of Session attribute:data has changed from oracle.adf.model.servlet.HttpBindingContext@365f8709 to oracle.adf.model.servlet.HttpBindingContext@36b6565b without the attribute being dirtied
    The question is what are we missing here?
    Please note that our application is still missing ControllerContext.getInstance().markScopeDirty(pageFlowScope); but when I tried to create a sample application and deliberately left the "markScopeDirty" using below code the above mentioned error was not reproduceable.
    public class myBackingBean
         public void changeValueButton( ActionEvent ae )
         Map<String, Object> pageFlowScope = AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getPageFlowScope();
              pageFlowTestBean obj = ( pageFlowTestBean )pageFlowScope.get( "pageFlowTestBean" );
              System.out.println( "Old Value " + obj.getYVar() );
              obj.setYVar( "New Value" );
              /* ControllerContext.getInstance().markScopeDirty(pageFlowScope); */
    Can anyone shade more light on it?
    Also, I would like to know that can someone guide me what is the best practice to perform ControllerContext.getInstance().markScopeDirty(pageFlowScope);. Because developers can easily miss this statement and I didn't find any easyway to search the code that is missing this statement (I have already tried Jdeveloper's Audit feature and it works for very few cases).

    We checked the ADF source (pasted below). It reads that markScopeDirty is getting skipped if ADF_SCOPE_HA_SUPPORT is not configured but when we debug our application the serialization fires after every pageScope/viewScope variable gets changed regardless of markScopeDirty() is being called or not. That signifies that markScopeDirty() call is not needed. Do we really need markScopeDirty() everywhere in our application or this is just a public helper method to manually trigger replication for some exceptional case? Can anyone from team Oracle explain this behavior?
    @Override
    public void markScopeDirty(Map<String, Object> scopeMap)
    Boolean handleDirtyScopes =
    (Boolean)ControllerConfig.getProperty(ControllerProperty.ADF_SCOPE_HA_SUPPORT); //checks for adf-scope-ha-support
    if (handleDirtyScopes.booleanValue())
    if (!(scopeMap instanceof SessionBasedScopeMap))
    String msg = AdfcExceptionsArb.get(AdfcExceptionsArb.NOT_AN_ADF_SCOPE);
    throw new IllegalArgumentException(msg);
    ((SessionBasedScopeMap)scopeMap).markDirty();
    }

  • Getting error message while trying to Develop Applications using Oracle ADF

    I have just started learning Oracle ADF. I have installed Oracle ADF 11g (with Oracle 11g database) in my PC. I am an experienced Oracle Forms Developer. While trying to run the application after development in
    Oracle ADF I get the following error message :
    This Project has no default run target. Please choose the file you want to run. Default Run Target:
    and then it gives you a browse option to select default run target file.
    This message always come in any type of application I want to write in Oracle ADF. Can you please tell me what is the possible fix to this issue.
    Installation of Oracle ADF did not show any error message. Oracle Middleware and webserver 11g has been installed before the installation of Oracle ADF 11g.
    I will appreciate any feedback for this. Thank you.

    Let me add some missing information.
    Right clicking a page or java class and selecting run or debug is ONE way to start the application with the page selected or the class selected (if the class can be started).
    Sometimes it's more desirable to always start the application using the same way (e.g. start page in a unbounded task flow) regardless where you are currently working on. So you don't need to find the page in the application navigator.
    For this you can use the 'Run configurations'. These (as you can have more then one) can be used to tell the framework which page or class to start if you hit the run or debug toolbar button. You can edit or create run configurations by using the menu 'run->choose active configuration->manage run configuration' or you open the project properties of the viewcontroller project and select 'run/debug/profile'. Then you get the dialog to edit or create a run configuration.
    Select default (this won is created for you by the framework) and click 'edit'. Then you see the launch settings. If you are using adf task flows you can e.g. select the adfc-config.xml file as 'default run target'. This allows you to select the page to start in the 'ADF Task FLow' sub node. If you now uncheck the 'attempt to run active file...' the framework always start the page you selected from the unbounded task flow.

  • Oracle ADF Business Service Layer Technologies

    Hello,
    We are building an online shopping mall/site that is expected to receive order volume of 50-60 thousand orders per week. So obviously, data traffic generated by the site will be pretty heavy. The technology set we are supposed to use is Jdeveloper 10g with ADF. Currently ADF business service layer offers following set of technologies. The question is which of following technologies meets these four criterias the BEST? (1) Security, 2)24x7 Reliability and Maintenace overheads (3)Speed /Performance of the server response to client requests (4) integration with Oracle database.
    Please advise. Any technet/metalink oracle document that compares these various business layer technology would be great indeed.
    Business service technologies that I am talking about is mentioned below
    Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) Session Beans
    Since most J2EE applications require transactional services, EJB session beans are a logical choice because they offer declarative transaction control. Behind the EJB session bean facade for your business service, you use plain old Java objects (POJOs) or EJB entity beans to represent your business domain objects. JDeveloper offers integrated support for creating EJB session beans, generating initial session facade implementations, and creating either Java classes or entity beans. You can also use Oracle TopLink in JDeveloper to configure the object/relational mapping of these classes.
    JavaBeans
    You can easily work with any Java-based service classes as well, including the ability to leverage Oracle TopLink mapping if needed.
    Web Services
    When the services your application requires expose standard web services interfaces, just supply Oracle ADF with the URL to the relevant Web Services Description Language (WSDL) for the service endpoints and begin building user interfaces that interact with them and present their results.
    XML
    If your application needs to interact with XML or comma-separated values (CSV) data that is not exposed as a web service, this is easy to accomplish, too. Just supply the provider URL and optional parameters and you can begin to work with the data.
    ADF Business Components.
    These service classes are a feature of the ADF Business Components module, and expose an updateable dataset of SQL query results with automatic business rules enforcement.
    Thanks
    Ruchir

    So the quote says "technologies Oracle recommends to J2EE developers" which is correct - if you are an experience Java EE developer the TopLink/JPA/EJB stack should be your choice however if you are coming from a 4GL/Enterprise developer background then the recommendation is here:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/B25947_01/intro002.htm#sthref21
    For enterprise 4GL developers building new web applications, Oracle recommends using JavaServer Faces for the view and controller layers, and ADF Business Components for the business service implementation. This combination offers you the same productive J2EE technology stack that over 4000 of Oracle's own enterprise 4GL developers use every day to build the Oracle E-Business Suite. Since its initial release in 1999, several thousand external customers and partners have built and deployed successful Oracle ADF-based applications as well. Both now and in the future, Oracle and others are betting their business on Oracle ADF with ADF Business Components.
    And yes ADF BC can be exposed as EJB - but this is usually only used for remote deployment of ADF BC when they are on another server than the UI code - for example when using Swing.

  • Crud-operations-in-oracle-adf

    hi, I am using 11g 1.2 and ADF BC
    I followed the sample "http://andrejusb.blogspot.com/2010/05/crud-operations-in-oracle-adf-11g-table.html" and built a same thing in my bound task-flow.
    the 'Edit' , 'Insert' , 'Save' and 'Undo' button worked perfectly, but the 'Delete' button is not. let say I have three lines in the table, If I click a row and click the 'Delete' button, then all three lines are disapear, May I know why? Thanks for your guide!
    Rgds!

    But I do have the af:form in the page level. My table is inside the region which is in the page.
    I have added a af:Subform around my af:PanelCollection, but the result is worse, even when I click 'INSERT' button, the all three lines are disapear!!!
    May this sample and code can not work properly inside the region?
    Edited by: xsyang on Jul 19, 2011 4:42 AM
    finally I understand that the solution in the sample is for bindings in the page, but my af:table component in the page fragment. may not directly coding like sample. am i worng? can anybody guide me how to refer to binding in the fragment. Thanks!

  • Oracle ADF Technology Choices

    Hi,
         I am new to Oracle ADF.
    There are several technologies to choose from to build business services in the data model: ADF BC, EJBs, JPA entities etc.
    I would like to know if there is any advantage of using one over the other to build you application? For example using ADF BC vs (EJB and JPA..). Is it purely a matter of choice for the developer or does each technology suit certain application development?

    Hi Howie,
    To throw my two pence into the hat...
    As Shay indicates, you get a lot of stuff for "free" when using ADF Business Components that you would normally have to develop yourself or integrate from another framework.The integration with the other parts of ADF (the binding layer in particular) is more robust and easier to use than the same integration for JPA/EJB. If you are looking purely for the choice that gives you the most out-of-the-box functionality with no other consideration, I'd certainly lean towards ADF BC. This choice is also a natural fit, as Shay indicates, if you have a bunch of Oracle Forms (or other 4GL developers).
    On the other hand, if you have an experienced group of Java developers with no ADF BC experience - you will almost certainly experience a rebellion - it may be mild or it may be severe, but in my experience, this is the one part of the stack that the hard-core Java addicts don't like - simply (in my opinion) because they are used to using JPA/EJB/Hibernate/put-your-other-orm-technology-here. If you are in this scenario - it would depend upon how hard the Java guys and gals dug in to decide whether to push them to evaluate BC seriously. If you had a large staff with lots of experience, it would make sense to look at JPA/EJB simply because of the effort in training.
    To summarize, there is no "right" nor a "best" technology - if there were, Oracle would simply implement the "best" one and ignore the second-best ones. The choice as to which one you use in all likelyhood will boil down to what you may or may not already have experience and training in. Even though ADF is "easy to learn," in reality, any framework and new technology takes a substantial amount of time to properly learn and master. I will say from experience that if you have a team with little or no Java/J2EE experience, it can be relatively quick for that team, with a good leader/mentor to start being productive writing apps using the full ADF stack (ADF BC/ADF Faces).
    Sorry for the rambling post - if you want the answer in two words: "it depends."
    Best,
    John
