Having a hard time getting iMac (Alum) to start up

I had to force restart my imac because it ended up freezing in Front Row. When it restarted it didn't pick up that my Time Maching Hard Drive was connected, so later in the day I restarted again and it will usually pick it up and when I restarted it my iMac wouldn't boot up. The apple symbol came up with the cirle that rotates, but it did nothing past that and I gave it 5 mins becuase it has never taken longer than that. I then tried it again, but it still wouldn't boot. I decided to leave it off and unplugged for the night.
I tried it the next day and still had a hard time. I would unplug everything and hold the power button down (was told by a customer service rep to do this with an earlier problem) and the I plug everything back in and try again, but nothing. I then would hold down the power button until I hear the long tone and then it would restart and I finally got it to boot up, but this doesnt' work every time. Once it rebooted, my dock was back to its original state and my hot spots were turned off. I also wanted to to access my accounts and I had it locked and when I press the unlock icon, not thing happens, which is not usual.
Everytime I restart my computer I get the white screen, so I have to shut it off and try again. Sometimes it takes me 5 or more times of trying different things to get it to boot up. Do you have any suggestions?

I don't think Front Row has anything to do with it. It sounds like a HD going bad, or some other hardware - logic board, etc.
Can you safe boot? Hold down shift key on boot and at login screen select restart. See if system then reboots normally.
Boot into your Leopard DVD and repair HD and permissions.
If you have DiskWarrior, use it.

Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

Having a hard time getting a iPod touch 4g case off

I can not get this case off my Ipod touch 4g: Griffin Outfit Ice Case for iPod touch (4th Gen.) I can get the top part off if I pull extremely hard but the bottom part does not even seem to move. Any ideas how to get the bottom part off. Could cleaning the edges off it help?

I could not get the case off of mine either. I ended up slipping (very carefully) a butter knife under the back to release the seal. Before I put it back on I rubbedva thin film of mineral oil on the inside of the case and haven't had a problem since. I still have to pull hard to get it out but it doesn't stick as it did before. Hope this helps.

Im having a hard time getting AE to run even though I know it should

Hey guys, Ive been starting to try and get into using after effects. I have put lots of stuff together in premiere pro and want to add some effects but i can hardly get it to even playback the file in the preview window, won't even scrub through hardly.
Premiere pro cs6 runs smooth and renders out iin good time.
My system specs are:
I have changed a few settings while playing around as per some pages I found on here about ram allocation and CPU stuff heres thos settings.
Im kind of at a loss with what else to do... Any thought are appreciated, I have a ssd on the way but Im not sure It will make all that much of a difference

I hope you don't expect AE to work like Premiere. It doesn't.
There's nothing wrong with your machine or with your software that's immediately apparent, either.
Premiere does one thing, AE does something else. They don't work the same. You don't use them the same way. AE is a totally different application than Premiere, and just like Premiere, you have to begin at the beginning if you want to learn it. People who try to use AE intuitively end up failing about 90% of the time.
So here's a good place to start.
I STRONGLY recommend you use it and you don't blow it off. If you do, you're only hurting yourself. Seriously.
I don't care how good you think you are, you'll miss some important detail vital to using AE, and your work will come to a grinding halt.

Save your process files outside of the NI progam directory (you should have external backups already right ). THey should not be deleted.
Any customizations to the lookout.ini and lookout.sec file may be lost.

So now I have a LEMP stack which runs fine and I have my root account secured and a new username "adriano". If I SFTP into the server using the username adriano, I am unable to create any files or directories. Trying to do a simple wordpress install doesn't work because I need to be able to create a folder for it, and a wp-config.php file. Both of which, like I mentioned, I do not have permissions to do. Yes, the username "adriano" has been added to the sudoers file via visudo.
I've never been very good at UNIX permissions so I was wondering if maybe someone can help me out?
Also, since I am using nginx it does not seem like I have a www-data group or user and my www folder is /usr/share/nginx/

No, no, you guys misunderstand me. I am not that much of an oblivious person. 95% of the time I understand EXACTLY what the code that I am copying and pasting does. And when I don't, I look into it further before executing said commands. I just tend to not remember commands so I google them, see examples, and then copy and paste them to avoid the busy work of typing out long strings. For example, it took me like 6 months to remember that to untar a .tar.gz file it was -xvfz.
But I digress. drcouzelis, I do have root access. It's my own VPS. However, I have always used shared hosting through different hosting providers and now that I got a VPS and have to do everything myself, I am a little bit lost.
I followed what wonderwoofy said and created a www-data group, added the adriano user to said group, and changed the owner of my http server root to www-data, and I SFTPed into the server again with filezilla and it still works perfectly. However, those "hordes of hackers" drcouzelis warned me about does not sound pleasant so I am really really really hoping one of you guys can tell me the next steps. Root login is disabled in the /etc/ssh/sshd_config file, and I also changed the port to a random port I created. My web files are all served from /usr/share/nginx/ (there are different folders in there that correspond to different domains.) Now what I am wondering is that if user "adriano" is in the sudoers file as ALL=(ALL) ALL, doesn't that pretty make adriano the same as the root user? The reason why I am so worried about this is because I heard/read countless times that working through the root user is BADDDDDDDDDD and will bring evil and shame upon your life (not in those exact words) and that you should never work with it. Also, do I have to worry about anything dealing with groups and/or users and/or permissions when it comes to PHP? I have php-fpm installed.
I am willing to buy anyone who can help me out with this a beer or two and I will be forever in your debt.

You cannot see it because it is hidden.. one of those great things apple does.. if it is hidden in your Mac then it will be hidden in the Time Machine Backup.
You will need to restore the entire folder to a different location.. and unhide it.
