I'll be having a rest for a little while, I mean I won't be popping into Discussions except now and then, from now till Christmas, or the New Year - so here's a ..rather early!.. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, and Very Happy New Year (..and all other assorted holidays and festivities ..Hogmanay, etc..) and all the best to everyone for 2006.
May your movies all be great ones, and may your camcorder always be recognised (..bit of a tall order, I know; but I'll be keeping my fingers crossed..)!

Thanks for the replies. It took a while not hearing anything so thought I was alone. I have done many of the suggestions already. The key here is that it occurs on both phones with apps, and phones still packaged in a box.
A Genius Bar supervisor also checked his Verizon data usage log and found the same 6 hour incremental use. Suprisingly, he did not express much intrigue over that. Maybe he did, but did not show it.
I think the 6 hour incremental usage is the main issue here. I spoke with Verizon (again) and they confirmed that all they do is log exactly when the phone connected to the tower and used data. The time it records is when the usage started. I also found out that the time recorded is GMT.
What is using data, unsolicited, every 6 hours?
Why does it change?
Why does it only happen on the iPhone 5 series and not the 4?
Since no one from Apple seems to be chiming in on this, and I have not received the promised calls from Apple tech support that the Genius Bar staff said I was suppose to receive, it is starting to feel like something is being swept under the rug.
I woke up the other day with another thought ... What application would use such large amounts of data? Well ... music, video, sound and pictures of course. Well ... what would someone set automatically that is of any use to them? hmmm ... video, pictures, sound. Is the iPhone 5 succeptible to snooping? Can an app be buried in the IOS that automatically turns on video and sound recording, and send it somewhere ... every 6 hours? Chilling. I noted that the smallest data usage is during the night when nothing is going on, then it peaks during the day. The Genius Bar tech and I looked at each other when I drew this sine wave graph on the log print outs during an appointment ...

- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.

closed - that's
what forces the container to re-contain all of the stuff

Having a little trouble with the "export" dialog box

Hi all,
When I get to the export dialog box, I'm not able to type directly in the "Custom Name" space. I have to click around and fiddle with some of the drop-down menus (and then get back to the "name format" that I like) and only then can I triple-click or backspace on the former name and input a new name in the "Custom Name" blank.
Also, the "Export Versions" tab is highlighted, but hitting the "return" key doesn't make the export happen. I have to mouse up to that button and click it that way.
Is anyone else having any trouble with inputting information on the export page? And ideas?

Yes, the name format is Custom Name with Index. But when I click in the field, I can't edit it.

For me, this preset is working well. Have you checked, if the preset for "Custom Name with Index" correct? You can verify it, by setting the "File Naming" format to "Edit". The preset should look like this:
I'd try to edit the preset, save it, and edit it back, to create a new preset file.
If that does not help, remove the user Aperture User Preferences, as described in this document: Aperture 3: Troubleshooting Basics
And as I said, hitting "return" doesn't start the export.
That also your "Export" button is not responding to return, even if it is highlighted in blue, is a sign, that your preferences file might have a problem.

I have updated my iPone 5s to the 8.1.3 and I am now having issues with texting and iMessage. I won't send for a long time and when it does finally send, I cannot receive any messages until I do a soft reset 2 times.

If you are having an issue with being unable to send text messages using your iPhone at intermittent intervals, requiring resetting the iPhone, I would suggest that you look into the next step which would be to back up any data on the iPhone and then erase it and set it up as a new device. Sharepoint WebParts 2007 / UCM 10g - Having one little problem

So I have everything installed and configured, I've done this several times following the documentation, and I'm having a hard time getting the webparts to display in my sharepoint site.
When I open my UCM site in Sharepoing the IPM Web Express page opens up and asks me for my Oracle Web Portal login. I am using sysadmin and it seems to accept my login BUT - the url looks like this - IBPMExpress/Login.aspx?closeOnLogin=1 . The page is closing (as expected closeOnLogin=1) but it goes back to my sharepoing site and is refreshing the page after UCM authentication and it is going back to the IBPM Express login page. It's stuck in a constant loop doing this and never ends.
I have stopped the IBPM Express login page and changed the parameter to closeOnLogin=0 and it tells me "Welcome sysadmin!" meaning I believe it to be authenticating to my UCM box.
Anyone have any ideas? I've tried setting up an entire sharepoint UCM site... I've just adding a webpart to an existing sharepoing site.. and they all do the same thing.

I am having the same problem as you and was wondering if you have found a solution yet.
I have installed sharepoint and UCM on the same server because it is a test system and I don't have a domain which I thought might be the problem. When I try to log in to UCM via sharepoint the Oracle portal login screen appears and it does not matter what I put in, it never authenticates. I have tried sysadmin, other UCM users that I have created, the sharepoint administrator user (after I added it into sharepoint), users in ucm that I have entered with domain\username (where domain was just the server hostname). Because this is a standalone test environment I do not have any LDAP server that I can link to UCM for authentication.
Any info you have would be greatly appreciated as I have been working on this for a few days now and have never goten past this point.

The iPhone is in Recovery Mode, generally the iPhone will have to be restored to get it out of recovery mode.

Having a little trouble with GridBagLayout.

OK. What i basically need to do is have JPanel (GridBagLayout) with a JTextField covering cells from 0-3, then have a JButton in cell 4. This is all on one line.
Because i am only adding two components to the JPanel, and asking it to act as though it had 5, i guess it doesn't like it. I think it should work like that but what can i do :) ...

GridBagLayout doesn't size the components in it based on the number of cells the component occupies (except relative to other rows/columns which you don't have). It sizes on the preferred size of the component along with the fill and weight of the GridBagConstraints for each component.
I usually set preferred size of the textfield to 4 times the button, set the weightx of both components to 1.0 and then set the fill for both components to HORIZONTAL.
You could also set the preferred sizes the same, the weightx of the textfield to 4.0, the weightx of the button to 1.0 and the fill for both to HORIZONTAL.

None of these values are being "stored". These three values are local variables, which exist only while the method (actually block) in which they are declared is executing... after that they are "forgotten". To a programmer the word "store" implies that the values are being persisted in a file, or database... that is the values are being stored in any fashion for reuse by a subsequent execution of this program, or indeed another program. I think it's just that you don't know the lingo yet, but I just wanted to be sure that you know that these values will be forgotten as soon as the main method is finished.

Help with TX

I had to recently pay Palm to synchronize my computer and palm. I downloaded some software from the palm website that was on my palm and was not connected to my computer only my wireless internet via palm. The website is http://mobile.palm.com/us/mypalm/ Well ever since I have downloaded this I get an error of (Sys 0505) (0,841) I do not know how to remove this program in my applications either. I need my palm pilot for Nursing school and would like to get this fixed.............if anyone could please help me I would appreciate it. Soft Reset: Poke the hole in the back of the TX
Warm/System Reset: Push and hold down the 5WayNavigator (D pad) UP button and perform a Soft Reset, wait till you see the second (grey) Palm logo and the release the UP button. After doing whatever you needed to do, a Soft reset must be performed to get back Bluetooth and other system function.
Hard Reset:
Warning all data will be lost, do a backup first!!
Push and hold down the Power Button and perform a Soft Reset, wait till you see the second (grey) Palm logo and the release the Power Button. When asked if you wish to erase all data select Yes by pushing the 5WayNavigator (D pad) UP button.
If "MyPalm account" is still in the Palm folder of your Desktop Computer it will just be copied back to your TX when you Sync, you can try this:
Delete MyPalm from your TX as descibed above, Soft Reset your TX.
Note: If you have problems deleting the MyPalm software from your TX then try doing a Warm/System reset, Delete the MyPalm software then do a Soft Reset.
Delete the "MyPalm account" from your Desktop Computer folder, Reset your Desktop Computer.
Note: If you have problems deleting the "MyPalm account" from your Desktop Computer folder try Ctrl Alt Delete to see if the MyPalm software conduit is stuck running and stop it.
Sync your TX.

Having trouble with sharedObject

Hi, Im having a little trouble saving some data. What I am trying to do is have the user select an image from list, this loads up the image full size and adds a text box to the stage. The user must then input what they see (I.E. a picture of a tree is on display and in the text box they would write "TREE" and it will be correct) What I need to do is save this info so that if the tree image is selected again they cannot write "TREE" in again.
All these images are loaded in through an XML file.

Having a major problem with LabVIEW programming

I have been a faithful supporter of National Instruments hardware and software since 1997. During that time I have worked in academic laboratories using NIDAQ boards and LabVIEW for basic and applied biomedical research. To date, all my work has revolved around using the amazing analytical capabilities of LabVIEW for on- and off-line processing of analog input signals. I have not been involved in the programming of multifunction input/output vis.
Now I am at a point where I am ready to construct and design experiments that require what I suspect are some very basic multi-function DAQ capabilities.
But I am having very little success after several weeks of concerted efforts. Each attempt is partially successful, but fails to address the exact components I need.
For example, my most urgent need is to read an analog input channel set, and stream it to disk. I would like one channel to trigger a single TTL-like pulse based on a known, period signal. But, I absolutely need an accurate, user adjustable (not necessarily on the fly) delay from when the trigger is received to when the pulse is delivered. What I have so far is a combination AI-CO vi that outputs a perfect CO-driven pulse. It is phase-locked to the periodic signal, but I cannot adjust the delay; the 'inital delay' input to the CO channel does not reset when the trigger is set to 'retriggerable.'
I would like to stay with hardware timing, but I'm not sure I need to. If I go the software timing route, I don't think I have the skill/ability to make a stable vi.
I have extensively searched, used, modified, and tried almost all of the DAQmx example vis, and extensively searched the NI website and discussion forum. This has been very successful, and I have learned from these, and incorporated them into my vis.
Specifics of my set-up are: PCI 6023E, Labview 7.0 express (Full), Nidaq 7.3.
My question is this: is there an enthusiast, or NI guru that would be interested in corresponding with me to help me solve some of these problems? I am a resident physician with only a limited amount of time to construct a successful project. I absolutely know LabVIEW can do what I want, but clearly I can't make happen without some help. For an expert what has taken me several weeks can probably be optimized in a very short while.

Thank you again for contacting National Instruments.
You are correct to notice the initial delay will not reset. It is not meant for that purpose. So I've been working on a workaround for you.
I believe you'll need to implement a new counter. This counter will be triggered by your current trigger, counts down for a certain amount of time, and when it reaches the terminal count, outputs a pulse you can use to trigger the other counter.
There are a few difficulties in making this work. The count down must be reset every time you trigger. Also, the count down must only occur for a finite amount of time, otherwise multiple triggers will be fired when the count reaches the terminal count. Therefore, creating a pause trigger to activate the
first counter is the way to go.
Using a pause trigger, the count down will occur whenever the trigger is high, and will cease to execute when the trigger goes low. If we put this count down mechanism in a continuous while loop so that it is reset every time the pause trigger executes, you will be able to specify an exact delay (due to specifying how long to count down).
Then, we just use the counter internal output - that is set high whenever the terminal count is reached - as our second trigger to execute what you already have.
I've included an example. In this example, it shows the idea behind what we're trying to do, but it isn't right yet. There is a conflict in routing I still have find a workaround for. I think if we route one of the counter outputs externally, and then back in, it may work. Anyone having problems tethering there camera and aperture 3 after upgrading to OS Lion?

After installing OSX Lion I have not been able to capture via tether with my Canon 5d and Aperture 3. I can see the camera and tranfer images but I am not able to tether.

Hi, I guess everyone is having a little bit different tethering issues. Mine was I couldn't get my files transferred into library. I would able to connect the camera, and even fire the shutter from computer, but nothing transferred through. I would just see a message says proccessing, then nothing, and shot counter stays at 0.
Later on I found the solution for THAT problem. Turned out Aperture was taking pictures, but they stored all my photos in a root folder inside the library, and I was not able to see any previews in the aperture interface, which totally defeated the purpose of tethering. The work around for me after many trail and error was, I had to leave the "Version Name" block to Master File Name when I start a new tethering session. I can not use Custom rename feature, or nothing would get transferred...
Hope this was your problem, and that's the way to solve it. I know some other people having disc permission issue and USB related issue...
