Having a printing issue.

A student gave me an image today that doesn't want to print well. My system has been printing well and is recently profiled. (for the record: win 7/ps6/canon 9500 pro/xrite i1 profiler) This particular image looks ok on screen but prints with a magenta/green crossover ( Magenta shadows/green highlights).  I've checked settings and reprinted - no help.  I thought somehow there might be a profile mismatch, but that didn't do it either.  For some reason I decided to check the base layer - they gave me an 8bit layered PSD with significant combing in the histogram.  The original layer prints as it appears on screen.  I'm stumped.  The combing comes in at a particular curves layer.  But that would not make it print different than it looks on screen.  I've not run in to this before, and as said, the other images come out fine.  Any Ideas?  Thanks, Doug

Just tried that - didn't change anything.  The printer is a standard inkjet - canon 9500 pro - so rgb input.  To add to the intrigue, after I left the student gave us another copy/version of the image.  It prints fine.  So, from a practical standpoint, the student has a good print.  I still don't understand what was going on though.  Thanks for the help.

  • How do i reinstall my system 10.8-Having Epson Printer Issues

I am having a massive problem with an Epson Stylus C88+ printer that used to work with my new iMac Late 2012 computer using System 10.8.4
Recently there was an update V2.5 for this printer. Once I installed the update the printer stopped working.
I now get a Epson Filter Failed error message and have tried everything to resolve it I could find on the internet.
Something in that upgrade killed the printer for me and the only thing I could find that I didn't do was to reinstall my system 10.8.
Does anyone know and easy way to do this which won't cause me too much pain?  Or is there another fix for this issue?
    The printing error message is:
Stopped - 'Filter' failed, 1 page
I tried to rename the computer in the Sharing pref, then went to the Printer and Scan preferences to make sure this is the name I used as well and nothing works.

Open the Sharing pane in System Preferences. If the Computer Name is not set, enter a name. You may first have to click the lock icon in the lower left corner and authenticate to unlock the settings. According to one report, the name must be set to "machd" (without the quotes) in order to get the printer working. After that, you may be able to change the name.
The bug that causes the crash seems to be fixed in the latest version of the Epson printing software.

  • I am using Aperture 3 to edit RAW and JPEG photo images on my Macbook.  I am having color printing issues with my Canon MP640 Pixma color printer.  The image I see on my macbook is not reciprocated in printing from my printer?

My issue is that I am not getting print quality compared to the image I see on my screen.  Just recently it has been very wishie washie.  My printer is supposed to be excellent for producing color prints
I have contacted Canon support but they told me that the signals that are sent to the printer originate from an Apple product, therefore, it is an Apple mac problem not there's.  I am wondering if my on screen proofing and/or printing profiles are correctly set.  I notice that in 'print profiles' there are nine different options for printing from my particular printer.  How confusing is that?
I have also found that when I choose a high standard print option my photo print comes out very red.
Can some kind person please help me?  I don't seem to be getting any help from anyone else!  Thanks in anticipation.

You didn't mention any color calibration being done on your monitor.  This is an essential part of any color-correct workflow.  What are you using to calibrate your monitor (and your printer)?
Print profiles (for soft-proofing as well as printing) are for specific combinations of paper & printer.  The nine you have are each, most likely, for a common paper (perhaps mfr'd by Canon) to be used with your printer.
I don't know what you mean when you say "I choose a high standard print option".

  • Having Wifi printing issues to iMac 10.5.3

I've done nothing other than apple updates since I got my iMac aluminum 20". (pretty much when it first came out). it's running 10.5.3.
I've got a Macbook Pro 15", last winter, upgraded it to leopard and now have done all the updates since aswell. The original issues were wireless printing to the airport usb printer stopped working properly after the 10.5.2 updates.
NOW, CUPS version on my Macbook shows v1.3.x.
CUPS on my iMac shows v1.1.x
Macbook Pro now prints perfectly fine and instantely when printing, although I must restart the Airport from the utility frequently to make sure my Samsung CLP-300 is in-fact in the list.
iMac does not print wirelessly. I need to update my iMac's CUPS to the latest version because I think that will solve the issue. How do I do this with as little administrative effort as possible?
I really appreciate all the help, or suggestions. Apple updates do not fix this issue, nor do repairing permissions, and I don't feel completely comfortable yet installing/building cups from the documentation. (just going through apple certification training now)
    Thanks again!

What system software version on the iMac? CUPS isn't considered updatable by itself, because the Print & Fax/Printer Setup utility versions are tied to the config and pref file formats of the CUPS version they came with. People who try to update CUPS find they can no longer Add printers via the Print & Fax prefs, for example.
Try reset Printing System on the iMac.

  • When I try to print from Firefox everything is shrunk on the paper and it is only Firefox that I am having this printing issue

Whenever I attempt to print something from Firefox it comes out tiny on the piece of paper. I have tried changing the printer settings, I have double checked the print preview, but whenever it comes from Firefox everything is shrunk. I do not have this issue within any other program, just Firefox.

No change. I reset value of the stand alone printer.print line and printed a few emails and got the same kind of error.
Did note that when I printed plain text emails the only part that is unreadable is the message header (body of the email is fine). If I print a message with anything beyond plain text it is all unreadable (some of the included pictures/graphics do print ok though).
There were a number of other printer.print lines with the Brother printer identification followed by header, footer etc. that appeared to be like a page setup type of thing. Would it be worth removing these printer/lines altogether and starting over with it?

  • Printing issues in production

    Hello, I
We are having some printing issues with the term contract (ME21N) in production although everything is working fine in all other systems. I created a new term contract in production and when saved it stayed in my spool and failed to print immediately. I then printed a different FI document in production (that launches the print daemon) and it printed fine to the local printer, without closing the print daemon window I tried printing the term contract and it printed fine this time. So it appears that somehow in production the print daemon window is not able to launch when a term contract is created/saved.
    Any idea or any suggestion?

Thanks a lot for the reply.... I further looked into the issue and when I looked at the SPOOL using SP01, I found that the spool request was there but the status was "ERROR" , when I looked at the events of that particular request, one of the even has this message->"Consistency error: Invalid program status"
Although I looked at the the output of the purchase order I see the following:
    Status -> Green
    Output-> NEU
and Dispatch time -> 4 i.e. Print Immediately when saved
According to me everything looks ok... can you please let me know if I am assuming a anything wrong here.
    Thanks,

  • Envelope printing issues

I was trying to print an envelope with my new HP printer using Microsoft Word 2008 for Mac. When I press on print, the entire envelope is printed in black ink, covering the entire face of the envelope.
I checked the settings for the size envelope (#10). I also uninstalled the printer software and downloaded and re-installed the printer software, but the problem still exist.
Is there an compatibility issue with Yosemite 10.10.3?
    What could be the problem?

Hello @Blackjack2359, and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you're having envelope print issues.   I'd like to assist!
I would suggest deleting the printer from your print system, using this document: Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once you have deleted it, I would suggest verifying and repairing the disk permissions: About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature.
I would also suggest running your Apple updates:  OS X: Updating OS X and Mac App Store apps
After the updates, I would recommend reinstalling the HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and drivers.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Epson R2400: Printing Issue: Dark printing after 10.7?

This question goes out to all of the Epson R2400 printer owners whom, if you're like me and have had one for a while, seem to have printing issues after every little change in the OS:
In Brief: Printing to the Epson R2400 via USB direct from iMac was printing well; outputing from InDesign, PhotoShop, and Acrobat Pro (all are CS5). I am not 100% sure because this is not a printer that I use daily, but I believe that I am having these printing issues after upgrading to 10.7.2 from 10.7.1.
The issue is that an output is very dark overall, or (after tweaking settings) will have a dramatic color shift to heavy magenta/black. In general, my traditional printer settings no longer produce correct outputs.
Anyone that has any suggestions or similar issues, I would like to hear about it.
    Notes:
    1. Yes, I completed all of the tradional voodoo magic: I cleared the printer caches, removed the printer, setup a new printer, updated the drivers via Apple software update, then once that didn't work, updated the drivers from Epson - even reverting to the older v6.5 drivers. I'm now back to the v8 drivers from the Apple software update.
    2. My printing tests are being conducted using a standard color test file that I've used to calibrate color on this Epson R2400 for years. I generally know that when this file doesn't print correctly something is afoot.
    3. My first attempt at correction was simply checking head alignment and completing a general cleaning of the heads. Didn't help.
    4. General question: Does anyone know of a compatible printer manufacturer of similar quality of output that actually cares about Mac users? Epson just never seems to really care about keeping their Apple drivers up to date or making sure that they work properly. Humble opinion.

Ok. I believe that it all comes down to the use of a third-party ink.
I didn't realize that there was a switch to a "refill" ink (to save money it appears) on the light-light-black and magenta. Switching back to Epson ink cleared the matter up.
I guess sometimes it's the simple things that elude us...

  • New MacBook Pro has real printing issues.  Is it just me??????

    Hi
I love my MacBook Pro but I am having horrible printing issues.
When I move my MacBook Pro from work to home I have to reboot everytime to make printing work otherwise I get error messages printing from Safari. Microsoft Office docs will print BUT only if I press the print button, if I go via the print menu I cannot press the print button.
This is causing me all sorts of pain.
Printers are an HP PSC2500 at home and an HP PSC2700 at work.
Machine was all 'transferred' from a Powerbook 1.67Ghz that was working perfectly.
Does anyone else have this problem or any idea what the fix could be??????
    Cheers.
    Robin

Try Reset Printing System, a manu choice in the Printer Setup Utility.

  • Printing issue for documents more than 10 pages.

My boss is having a printing issue with larger documents.  They start printing correctly, but then sometimes the font will change to something I don't recognize and can not read.  The computer is running Windows XP Professional.  She was using Adobe Reader 8 something, so I uninstalled it and downloaded Adobe Reader X.  This did not cure the problem.  I next tried uninstalling and reinstalling her printer and that did not fix the problem.  The printer was an HP laserjet 1320.  I replaced this printer with an OKI B411d.  This helped the problem, but did not cure it.  I've attached an example of the script.  Please does anyone have any idea how to fix this problem?

    HI,
its in the same screen where you'he changed the number of pages. In this screen there are 3 sub-screens:
    1: Display mode
    2: Display area
3: Save settings, here tick the option you need.
    best regards, Christian

  • I am having some serious issues with firefox, i can't print anything because it is stuck on fax and I can't use any of the drop down menus on any site

I am having some serious issues with firefox to the point of choosing another search engine. I can't print anything because it is stuck on fax and won't let me change it to my printer when i do try to select my printer it jumps right back to fax. The drop down menus do not work on any of the sites I go to. For example when purchasing clothes and you have to choose a size from a drop down menu I can't do it when I click on the drop down menu it doesn't work at all. I don't have a virus I ran my virus protector and no viruses are present. I don't have any suspicious issues going on with my computer so there has to be something in Firefox that is causing my issues. I tried internet explorer and I don't have any issues there. I hope you can help me because I love Firefox and would really like to continue to use it.

Lots of issues there, main one getting fcpx going again, try deleting the preferences using the utility deveoped by these guys.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus printing issues

I have been having two new issues suddenly (within the past 2 weeks) with my HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus. I am trying to print from my iMac 27 inch running OS.X 10.8.4 Both the mac and the printer are connected to a wireless network via an Xfinity Wireless Gateway. I have just replaced the ink cartridges in the printer but am unable to print black & white. In fact everything is comming out kinda pink. I have posted on HP's support site and was told to
    Download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
    Restart your Mac.
    Reset the printing system:
    - Go to System Preferences > Print & Scan
    - Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
    - Select the plus sign to re-add a printer. Select the Defualt tab on the top of the window. Look for the printer, select it and then next to the "Use" pulldown, select the printer model (not AirPrint). Wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
Having done that initially my problem was solved. But now I'm having the problem again. I went through the above steps again, but still not able to print. Are there any suggestions for a fix. Is anyone else seen this issue? Is there a particular printer manufacturer that works well with Apple. Because at this point I have a large paperweight that is of no use to me!

The fact that it was solved and then came back points to some (unknown) issue with your Mac's software.
Try these generic fixes first (and then do the reset printing system and re-add again):
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1417
(one of the three methods - I like Disk Utility best - you can also repair disk permissions while there.)

  • I am having trouble printing to an Epson XP600.  It is a new printer and it has been replaced because we thought it was the printer.  Basically, when I print from Excel, only color will print.

I am having trouble printing to an Epson XP600.  We have replaced the printer and we are still having the same problem.  When I try to print from Excel, only the color prints.  Any suggestions?

Has anyone else had issues not being able to print black (such as a document)?  My photos print great, but when I try to print a simple black-ink document, it won't work. Any suggestions?

  • HP ENVY 100 D410 Printing issues...

I have an HP ENVY 100 that has recently started having printing issues.  We recently upgraded to Mountain Lion and had no problems in the upgrade nor have we had any other software that we've changed.  The problem seems to be somewhat random and the results are always the same.  When commanded to print the printer acts as if it is running out of ink and then distorts the fonts creating vertical lines on the page and skipping rows creating what almost looks like a bar code. It's most peculiar and the only way I can find to solve the issue is to completely restart both my system and the printer.  Thinking that I had a driver issue on my Mac I used the utility on the printer to update drivers and none were found.  To insure that the problems wasn't isolated to just my machine I tried our laptop as well and it seems to have the same problem.  Has anyone had a similar problem?

    Hi Talon,
That more liekly related to the software indeed, I would suggest trying the following steps:
Reset the printing system as listed below:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c01371980
Open the Applications folder, then Hewlett-Packard and then open the Device Utilities folder, launch the HP Setup Asisistant and follow the steps to reconfigure the device.
If there is no Hewlett-Packard folder simply re-add the printer by clicking the plus button under Print & Scan.
Now try printing and follow for any difference.
If the same persists uninstall any HP Software by following the HP Uninstaller under the Hewlett-Packard folder.
If there is no Hewlett-Packard folder follow the steps listed under Mac OS X 10.6, 10.7, and 10.8 > I used Apple Software Updates to install the product software below:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02440673&tmp_task=useCatego ry&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&lc=en&product=5157536#N1305
Download and isntall the latest Lion Software below:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-97934-2 &cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=219&product=4073738&sw_lang=
Once completing the installation click the Apple icon and install any available Software Update.

  • Need help diagnosing cause of printing issue w/ image distortion

Hello, I'm looking for some expert advice for my print issue with image distortion (see above) on my files once setup and proofed by my printer.
I have a large PSD background file out of photoshop (CMYK, 170mb psd) that is being placed into an InDesign document. No preflight errors, all correct SWOP cmyk settings, and I keep having issues where images distort on my printers proofs - they seem unable to explain the issue and can't offer any other suggestions beyond ("just try resaving/uploading again" which of course has an added fee with each upload...).
The files are all fine on our end: on-screen, on our cmyk proofs, and our saved PDFs/packaged files. But everytime our printer opens these they seem to have these distorted image problems - scrambled images (almost as if there was a ghosted transparent image in the distorted area), strange lines (see above, and color distortion (usually greens and pinks, see above).
Is this an issue with my settings/file formats? Maybe the issue lies on our printers end? I'll keep checking this throughout the day and provide quick answers to anyone who can help me get to the bottom of this.
Adobe forums have been a huge help in years past so I decided this was by best bet for a resolution from those who know more than myself (or my printer), thanks for taking the time to help!
