Having a problem saving word documents...any ideas?
I'm hoping someone can help me out with this..
Lately when I've been writing a word document a message will pop up from the Auto Recovery Save. It says, "Word cannot save or create this file. The disk may be full or write-protected. Try one of more of the following: free more memory, make sure that the disk you want to save the file on is not full, write-protected, or damaged."
I'm using Word 2004 (version 11.3.5) on Mac OS X 10.4.11
I've tried deleting some word files to free up some space but I'm still getting this message. I haven't had any other problems using my macbook. I write a lot of word documents (I'm a student) but this is the first time I've ever had this message pop up.
Any ideas what the problem is or what I can do to fix it?

How much free space is on your hard drive?
Have you emptied the trash?
Disk space is not 'freed' for re-use by deleting files until the trash is emptied.
Have you tried using Disk Utility to check the disk for errors and to verify/repair disk permissions?
Have you tried saving your documents to a flash drive plugged into the USB port?
An empty 4Gb or 8Gb Flash drive has plenty of space to store lots of documents as an inexpensive and a temporary solution if you're almost out of hard disk space.
Even with a flash drive, you might get the same error message, because the temporary files are probably defaulting to being stored on your hard disk. There's likely a place somewhere in Word preferences to view and change where the temporary files are stored. (Sorry, I haven't used OS X 10.4 or Word 2004 in about 4 years, and I don't have either one immediately available to check.)
It's also possible that your hard drive is beginning to fail. If Disk Utility cannot verify the hard disk, I would recommend making a backup of important files immediately to CD or DVD. (I use Time Machine, but that didn't become available until OS X 10.5)

I'm having trouble opening a word document on my new Macbook Pro. I opened it with no problems on my iPhone5. I tried using TextEdit and OpenOffice. Thanks!
I open Word documents on my Mac using Pages and textedit without any problems.
I also have a copy of OpenOffice and it can also open Word documents without any problems.
Could you please provide more details on exactly what you mean when you say you having troubles opening Word documents? What kind of troubles?

Problems printing word documents

My friend as a powerbook and a HP printer, and is having problems printing word documents, nothing shows up in preview when you press print just a blank page pops out. You can print pictures fine from iPhoto, any ideas?
Popping over tomorrow to see if I can get it working. My friend emailed a document and I had no trouble printing it.

Can't test at the moment, but, if after clicking the print
button, in the option tab, can you select "as laid out on screen",
then click Print?

Having a problem saving the graphics on a canvas.
I'm having a problem saving graphics on a canvas. It draws on the canvas but when another window comes up the graphics disappear. I put in a method to take the graphics on the canvas and repaint it with the graphics. But this comes up blank. So I don't know why this is happening. It is probably the paint method but I don't know why. If anyone has any ideas could you please respond because I have had this problem for ages now and it's driving me mad and I have to get this finished or I'm going to be a lot of trouble. I'll show you the code for the class I am concerned with. It is long but most of it can be disregarded. I am having a problem opening pdf document. I get error message: "Adobe Reader has stopped working" then I get Windows is looking on line for a solution, but then my document closes. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe Reader XI, rebooted my computer but this did not help. I get the same message. What to do?
Can you open Reader by itself? If so, check if disabling Protected Mode improves the situation [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].

When I print a photo to my epson printer, it comes out larger than the original photo - so the photo prints beyond the borders. Tried readjusting all sorts of things but nothing helps. I had this same problem with my Canon. any ideas?

Ive changed my apple id. in my iPad and iPhone under iTunes it's showing the new id but under iCloud still shows old I'd. I have been told to delete account and add in new one but worried in case lose all my stuff that's already saved in iCloud. any idea?
If all you did was rename your ID, you can go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted, then sign back in with your renamed ID. Deleting the account only deletes the account and any data you are syncing with iCloud from your phone, not from iCloud. Provided you are signing back into the same account and not changing accounts, your data will be synced back to your phone when you sign back in.
If, however, you are changing to a new account with a new ID, choose Keep on My iPhone when prompted. Then choose Merge when you sign into the new account and turn your iCloud syncing back on to upload your data to the new account.
Before deleting the account, save you photo stream photos to your camera roll (tap Edit, tap all the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll). -
My computer sees the auto duplexer on my Epson Stylus PX720WD but iworks says it is not installed. I have contacted Epson and I have the impression that they don't know how to solve this problem. Anyone got any ideas?
If you print to PDF first, and then print it from Preview does it work?

Could anyone advise how to save word/microsoft document on icloud? I can't find the icon of icloud when saving word document.
Microsoft have not updated their applications for iCloud compatibility, so you can't do it direct from Word.
Apple's "Pages" application for Mac will allow you to save Word .doc files to iCloud. -
I just made the update with "Mountain Lion" on my MAC. Now I´m not able to open all my (old) Word-Documents any more. What can I do?
Office 2004 Applications Won't Work in Lion
You must have Office 2004 which is a PPC-only suite and will not work in Lion. You need to upgrade to Office 2011 - Mactopia - or you can try the freeware suite, Libre Office, that is functionally similar to Office 2007 for Windows except it works on Lion.

After saving, word documents have been disappearing from my macbook air. Have checked outlook temp files, temporary files don't show them, can't find them anywhere. Includes coursework files that I have lost because I don't back up regularly. Even the finder cannot find them, word recent documents doesn't show them. 100% positive I saved htem. Hi there. If you have save file selected in word you should be able to find it. Then type in private/var/folders then enter.

Am I able to use my USB and read saved word documents
I am wanting to know if I am able to plug in a standard USB storage device and access saved word documents or PDF's. Can this be done via a connector of some sort.
