Having a problem with iphone 4S. Phone calls are getting dropped and cutting in and out.

I seem to have very little or no service at all recently.
All my calls are cutting in and out or hanging up in the middle of a conversation. I have to stand in the corner or my kitchen to get a clear call or get at least 2 bars.
I called Verizon yesterday and tried a few things they suggested but nothing worked.
I dont have another phone to call them back on since they suggest we call from a different phone until the late evening. Someone was supposed to call my back and never did.
Not sure on what else to do.
I am extremely frustrated and annoyed that I cant even really use my phone.
HELP

If the on/off switch does not work, that is a hardware problem. The other problems may be related to a hardware problem or faulure as well.
Make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby to confirm.

You're not speaking to Apple on in this forum, nor will someone from Apple see this post.   We are just users like you and I.
Have you tried to restore or reset your phone?

Thanks for the swift reply, I have been looking online and a loose plug seems to be somewhat of an issue with many, I hope mine is actually a problem and not what others are experiencing. It's taken me this long to even reach out for the simple fact I HATE being a complainer but this is just horrible.
Do you have an iPad 3 as well? And is yours not experiencing any issues close to mine?
    Thanks again!

I have very strange problem with iphone 3gs. Whenever it gets little hot or exposed to 30 degree or above temperature it losses signals (No service). Whenever it is cooled down the service is back. Whenever I am using Skype or playing game for a while it losses carrier signals and wifi. When it is cooled down afer shutting down the carrier signals and wifi are back. It is for sure problem is with heating, but 30 degree tempeature in Oman is normal and some time it goes upto 50 degrees. I have noticed this has started after I started using substandard charger as I lost my original charger of the phone. Please help!! Thanx.

The specifications define an operating range up to 35 degrees.

  • I am having 2 problems with my Z1 phone

Firstly, everyone who calls me (or whom I call) on my cell complains about getting an annoying echo on their end.  So I'm not being bothered by an echo, but everyone else is.  My husband is threatening to never call me or anwer my calls anymore.  Any clues as to what could be causing this?
Secondly, when checking my newsfeeds on FB (Upworthy is a good example) and some other posts I am unable to play the embedded videos in these posts.  I can get audio of the video clips, but I either get just a black screen with the 'dot circle' that says it's trying to upload the vid or just a still pic of part of the vid.  Very irritating to have bought an expensive phone and not be able to see the videos.  Contrarily, I have no problems going to YouTube and playing vids there.
This is my second Z1 (my first got mangled at work by a cow!) and I never had either of these problems with the first Z1.
    Thanks for any help
    /Tamar

Good call with the FB app!  I tried watching a vid in Chrome and it worked.  Then tried it in Firefox (which I have been using) and it didn't work.  I uninstalled Firefox and tried again to watch the vid from the FB app and this time it worked.  Whee!  Thanks for the help Alexdon.  (Although I'm partial to Firefox over Chrome.  Beggars can't be choosers, I suppose.

  • IPhone 5 voice call quality fade in and out. Noise Cancellation interference?

I've been having this huge problem with the iPhone5. The evidence i've collected seems to indicate this is a problem with all iPhone5's.
On calls in certain places both indoors and outdoors, the callers voices over the iPhone5 fade in and out. Their voices occasionally completely fade completely away, and only come back momentarily. The low volume for 50% of the time forces me to raise the volume, but raising the volume does not help because when the voice does come back, the volume is too loud for my ears.
I went back to the Apple store and they are not able to help me. They suggested a clean restore, which I did. They offered to replace the phone, which I did, but it is the same problem.
    - iPhone 5 vs. iPhone 4S, the fading does not occur. I make the call to the same voice mail system I have, and the sounds from the other side are consistently the same volume for the 4S, but fades in and out for the 5.
    - I connected up a 8mm jack between my iPhone 5 and my mac in an attempt to record this problem. In that instance, the sounds from the voice mail DO NOT fade in and out. I did find out that the dynamic range on the iPhone 5 is MUCH greater than that of the iPhone 4S, for some strange reason.
    - When I hold the phone up to my ear, the fading in and out does occur, but it is less noticeable. But it's still there.
    - When I leave my work area the problem goes away. However, because the iPhone 4S on the same AT&T service does not have this problem, this leads me to believe it's NOT a lack of transmission power from the AT&T cell tower. Rather, it is a reception issue at the iPhone5 side.
    - I turned off LTE, data and then made the calls. Same issue.
I use this phone to make 60 minute calls for conference calls frequently. I cannot use it. Please advise. I am seriously considering returning this phone. Except i've sold my old iPhone 4 already. I'm in a bad place. Please help.
Here's another post of a fellow with the same exact problem.
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1456404
Apple, please look into this. I believe this is a problem with the noise cancellation software.

I've got an update on this problem with fading volume. I've isolated it to the set volume on the phone for voice calls when using headphones. When the headphone volume is set between 1 and 6 (out of 16 squares) the callers volume will consistently fade in and out. The fading which is normal to zero volume at 2-5 Hz is serious enough that normal conversation is impossible.  When the volume is raised above 6/16 then the callers voice stabilize and I can hear all their words again. Unfortunately, at 6/16 volume their voices are too loud for the headphones.
Furthermore, when headphones are plugged in, and I initial a call after the iphone5 was idle for several minutes, the first dial tone has preceded by a very loud pop an the tone, as though there was too much pressure (charge) that was dissipated all at once.
    Other details:
    - I used 3 different earphones, iPhone 4 headphones, altec earphones, an the new iPhone 5 earbuds. Same.
    - I turned on and off lte, data, Bluetooth, wifi. Problem persists unaffected.
    - when switching to iPhones earpiece and mic, the fading is gone.
    - I have 3 out of 5 bars where I teste this, in the city outside and on hwy 5 in central California. Same symptoms in all places I've tested.
    - I have exchanged my phone at the apple store. Same issue with both iPhones an I suspect all ipjone5s.
    - the ipjone4s does NOT have this problem when the volume is set lower. I can tell that the iPhone 5 must have a new audio filter to make the sounds have larger dynamic range. I liked the 4s better, because it is easier on the ears!

  • Hearing problems with Skype credit phone calls

Am using Skype on an iphone4.  When I make Skype credit calls to landlines or mobile phones I can hear the people on the other end well but they often complain that they can hear me just barely or really poorly.  The Skype microphone setting is  on ON.
If it were my wifi connection then I should also have problems hearing the other party but I don't.

I think Skype is sitting in US pretty comfortably. It was the first VoIP company, now there are hundreds of them. So, being unable to keep in pace with normal rivalry the pioneer company continued business nevertheless...

  • IOS8.1 signal problem with iPhone 6?

I never had problems updating my phone until iOS8.1 came out.
Here is the odd thing, my phone constantly fluctuates from having full bars to none at uneven intervals. My wifi will be stable, but my signal is wrecked. I missed calls the night I updated, and didn't realize it until I got a worried text from my boyfriend. Is anyone having similar problems?
I reset my phone twice, once through iCloud and once through iTunes. When the problem persisted, I reset the network settings and nada.
Imagine being stuck in a dire situation and not have a reliable phone. THAT is scary.

As I said in another thread, I have iPhone 6 with iOS 8.1. I commute every day for 40min from home to work and back, and there are two places in the route that I know have very low signal coverage and are a very good test for mobile phones antennas reception.
With my previous iPhone 5s, in these two places during a call it happened to lose some voice samples, but the call was never dropped.
With the iPhone 6 the calls are always dropped in both places.
I don't look at signal bars because they are only a signal indicator, but the dropped calls are a clear fact that the iPhone 6 reception is worse.
Also the iPhone 4s was worse than the 5s but better than 6 because it lost many samples, the voice became metallic, but very seldom did the calls drop completely.
Unfortunately with the 6 dropped calls are a certainty.

  • I am having problem with iphone 4s, I can not make calls or send text message? Please help.

The problem is presistant. I tried to send the text message but it does not leave the phone, it is only delivered after I turn the phone off and then turn it on again. Only then it gets delivered and even that is only for that moment.
Secondly, I can not send or recieve the calls as well.
Thirdly, after I make a call, the calling screen gets stuck and I can not talk to the current caller or dial to another caller.
Note: I have 'Not" dropped my iphone any where uptil now and I keep it in a pouch to protect it. The problem started recently and before that it worked fine. The problem started when I turned off the phone and after an hour or 2, I turned it on again.
The signals of the service provider is coming perfectly. I haven't found any problem with there service yet.

Network unavailable means the phone is detecting and using the SIM, else you would get a NO SIM error.
It means that Sprint does not exist in the Ukraine (obvious), and Sprint does not have any interconnection agreement with a local carrier. Hence, the phone can't talk to anyone, carrier-wise. You need to get a SIM from a local carrier and try again. If it works, you're all set and the phone is indeed unlocked. Else you have been conned and will need to go and complain with whomever sold it to you.

  • TS2755 I am having a problem with getting notified when I receive a call or a text.  My phone will not ring or vibrate.

I am having a problem with getting notified when I receive a call or a text.

    Hi BigBroMAC,
The first thing I would check is Do Not Disturb mode, as this will cause that behavior:
iOS 6: Using Do Not Disturb
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5463
If that isn't the issue, this article has slightly different symptoms but the troubleshooting would be the same:
iPhone: Can't hear through the receiver or speakers
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1630
Before you do step 10, however, I recommend resetting all settings to see if that helps.  To do that, choose Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings.
    I hope this helps!

  • Problems with iPhone phone

I have a problem with using my phone that started several weeks ago and has been steadily getting worse. When I make a call, the person on the other end answers and I can hear them but they can't hear me. This also happens occasionally when someone calls me. I can hear them but they can't hear me. I have good reception, 4 or 5 bars. I haven't accidentally hit the mute button with my cheek. I try turning the mute button on and off with no results. I have shut the phone off for a while and then started it up and there is no improvement. Today I was probably able ot only talk to 60% of the people that I tried dialing. There is one person in particular that I have to call multiple times per day for business and this happens 95% of the time with her. I depend on being able to use the phone; I'm in the life safety business. As far as I can tell, everything else works, other apps work just fine. I can text and email, surf the net, etc. I have an iPhone 4 version 6.0.1 (software?). It doesn't seem to matter if I am on a 3G or E network. The problem persists. Any help would be much appreciated. No, I don't want to update the iOS, the GUI is butt ugly (Steve would be turning over in his grave if he saw this iOS) and everyone that I know that has an iPhone 4 and has done the 'upgrade' has had problems with slow operation and battery suck.
    thanks,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post I understand that you're having issues with the microphone on your iPhone.  To troubleshoot this issue please follow the steps in the article linked to below.
