Having a problem with wireless connection. On my Windows XP 32 bit system and a 6510 printer, initi

On my Dell Latitude D620, Windows XP 32 bit system and my 6510 printer wireless connection (Linksys EA4500) , everything works fine after the computer is booted.  After a period of time (usually overnight), I lose connection to the printer (the scanner icon with a red x is shown on my Windows task bar and I can't print.  Ran Windows Fix and the HP fix programs.  The only thing that solves it is to reboot the computer.  A second symptom is that my IE8 stops connecting to the internet at the same time (gives a 'waiting for' response that never changes).  Firefox still connects OK when this is happening.  So I suspect the problem isn't with the printer, but with my Windows set up.  It is a fresh XP SP3 install (hard drive crashed, but it happened before also).  I reset IE, checked my proxy, no malware, happens with or without firewalls and security programs.
Hoping that someone else has run into this problem.  Been all over Google, and the IE doesn't work / Firefox works is fairly common, but none of the fixes helps.

If you want you can reload Firefox 4.0 or the last "old" version is 3.6.16 and is available here:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
Just reinstall your choice of FF. The bookmarks are in a different directory and are NOT overwritten. Some of the Add-ons that worked in 3.6 DO NOT work with 4.0, pay attention and head any warnings when you start 4.0.
I had to disable extensions: Flashblock and WOT
Firefox SafeMode? - A troubleshooting mode.
1.You can open the Firefox 4.0 SafeMode by holding the Shft key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut to open it again.

My daughter's older Ipod Touch is having a problem with images becoming pixilated when taken from an e-mail and placed into her camera roll. ( She wants to put on Instagram ) Any help?

I think that may be a consequence of the email provider she is using. Some services (AOL is one example) inspect and modify email attachments, particularly photos, resulting in reduced resolution compared to the email that was sent.
The iPod does not do this. The resolution of the picture in the email she receives will be identical to what is imported.

  • New problem with wireless connection since 27th No...

Main desktop computer (windows xp) is connected directly to the internet via ethernet cable to BTHub3. No problem exists with this  connection.
We have previously had no problem connecting Tablet, laptop, and internet radio via wireless connection to our Hub. Problems now exist with wireless connection to all of these devices:-
    - When attempting to use any of the devices wirelessly, we are unable to obtain a connection to our Network (shown on the list of those available) - indicates -  "out of range" or "obtaining IP address" or "authenticating" or "network disabled - poor connection"
    - On occasions, the devices DO show that they are connected wirelessly but are unable to access the internet or use any programmes requiring an internet connection. Messages indicate - "no internet connection" or "connection timed out - retry" or "cannot access this webpage", even when we are in the same room as, and only a few feet away from the Hub.
    - One anomaly has occurred in that the internet radio did connect and function normally on 2 occasions recently , for a duration of a couple of hours, before loosing the connection. However, during this time, the other devices still refused to connect.
Measures we have undertaken to try to resolve the problem are :-
    - We have visited the "Wireless troubleshooting" part of the BT Helpdesk on several occasions, but had already tried the measures suggested here, including changing channels and hub reset.
    - We have spoken at length to the BT tech. helpline who have been unable to resolve the problem.
    - We have emailed BT Help and received a reply from India suggesting all the things that we have already tried (ie. a "stock answer").
    - We are not confident enough to access the Hub Manager as we feel feel this is beyond our capability.
We would be most grateful if someone could help us.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Wingman2, the first thing I would do is uninstall BTDesktop Help if you have it installed. It can cause more problems than it solves.
I would also suggest that the first thing to try is a factory reset of the homehub by pressing a pin into the recess button on the rear for about 20 seconds.
After you have done a reset if you still have problems, download, install and run inSSider. It will show you the wireless channels and which one your Homehub is on. You want to find the channel with the least congestion, ie. least number of users. Once you have that you need to change your homehub onto that channel.
See link for insider. Use the free version.
    http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider/
See link how to change channel on homehub
    http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/14094
After that if you are still having problems you could try setting the home hub to b/g only instead of b/g/n. If one of your devices is not "n" capable it could help.

  • Having problem with wireless connection

    Hello Everyone,
Ok, just like what the title says.. I had a roomate before that had the acct. and moved out with his account. I used to share Internet service with him using a WRT54G router and everything was fine. Since he moved out I had to get my own one on my name and started using the same router, but this time I decided to put a security on it, I lost my CD, so I decided to go to linksysfix and download the program. I installed it on my lap top and everything is working good, except for the desk top that my brother has. His also connected to the router that I have but cannot connect on the wireless, the desk top used to work before I downloaded from linksysfix. We can see the network name and the signal is high but won't connect and cannot go online. It's kinda weird, wireless used to work before the reset and installing from linksysfix. My lap top is working great, no problem with it, just the desk top. Desk top works using wire, but the wireless function is not working. Called tech support for linksys and dynex for wireless card and did not do the job. Last night I was trying still and was able to connect wireless on some network called STREAM, not sure where it is, but they're homepage shows up. anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks
    Ricky

Go to: Start Menu>>Control Panel>>Network and Internet Connections>>Network Connections. In this window look for your wireless connection icon and right click on it, then click on properties. Here you will find the wireless tab to set up your wireless card.
    1.security = either WPA or WPA2
    2.Encryption = TKIP or AES
3Security Key = whatever you decide to choose =Wwd3Rtt29PlsM =example
***Also you should plug in you wireless computer with the wired Ethernet cable while you are doing this, then dissconnect.
    Good Luck,

  • I am having problem with trying to install the printer with wireless connection.i have windows 7

the blue light on top of the printer blinks very fast and intermitenly.  i cannot install the printer with wireless.  I tried with the CD that came with the printer but the green install bar just stops and freezes.  I have a 4 month old Dell laptop.  Printer just purchased from HP is Laser Jet Professional P1102w.

Are there any third party firewalls installed (e.g. Kaspersky, Norton, BitDefender, etc.)?  It sounds like something is blocking the software and third party firewalls have been known to block communication with the printer.
How far in the installation process do you get (what options are you able to get to)?
Is the USB cable connected at the start of the installation?
Do you receive any errors at all?  If so, what are they?
Have you tried using Smart Install?  Smart Install works by connecting the USB cable to the computer.  By default, you should get a prompt to run a file.  Running this file starts the Smart Install process.
This video is a good guide to Smart Install.

  • Not the average problem with wireless connection. Please help me..

I've been having wireless connection problems ever since I upgraded to Verizon FiOS from Verizon Wireless. Before upgrading to Verizon FiOS in the fall of 2012, my brother's laptop connected just fine with the connection. After upgrading to Verizon FiOS, my brother's laptop could not connect to the internet. It showed the wireless connection signal as Excellent, but I could not access the internet. Either it would be extremely slow or there would be no connection at all. Also, the router would sometimes restart itself randomly, and it was extremely annoying for me since I am hardwired with my desktop.
This was weird because my iPod Touch connected perfectly fine to the wifi. So I thought it must be the laptop. But I brought the laptop over to my cousin's house, who also happens to have Verizon FiOS, and the laptop connected perfectly fine. I called Verizon and none of the technicians knew what the problem was. We tried disabling and enabling the router, changing the channels, and anything that was on the list. They couldn't help me and I was extremely disappointed because not only am I not accessing the internet with my brother's laptop, but I am also paying for the service too. The last technician I called in 2012 decided to send me a new router. I hoped this would work, but it did not. This router, too, would completely reset itself numerous times before settling down and letting me use the internet.
I gave up after that. But in the spring of 2013, I got really fed up with the service I was receiving and I decided to call Verizon again. Again, Verizon tried to help me fix the laptop with their tools and solution guides. But nothing good came out of it, so I decided to ask for a technician to come to my apartment to fix it. We scheduled a day and I was pretty excited since I was almost positive that the connection for the laptop would be fine by then.
I was wrong. The technician came and only stayed for about 20 minutes. He said it must be the laptop or it must be that the walls are too thick in my apartment. But that can't be it since, in my cousin's house, the router is on the second floor and my brother was using his laptop on the first floor. So it couldn't be the laptop nor the house. So we came to no conclusion. He just attached a mini router to the laptop and hardwired it. I wasn't so content but I was glad my brother could finally use the internet now.
About three months pass by and I decide to get myself a new laptop. I get it and I am hoping the wireless connection works. It did, so I was almost positive that it was my brother's laptop that was the problem, not the wireless signal. I go on vacation for a few days and I connect perfectly fine at my friend's house. When I return home and try to connect to my wireless connection, it didn't work!
At this point, I am extremely frustrated. I decided to call Verizon again to replace my router because it was being extremely annoying. It kept resetting itself and I was tired of it. I replaced the router, and this is the router I currently have, but I STILL have the same problem. It resets itself on its own time and I hate it because I'm always in the middle of something. Wow, just wow. There is nothing they could do to help me fix this. I call up a technician, for the millionth time, and he tells me he can't access my router. This occurred with the previous technician who sent me the new router. He tells me his tools are not working and tells me he'll call me back the next day.
It was the next day and I did not receive any phone call. I am extremely disappointed in Verizon FiOS' service and it's customer service. I leave it alone and I just hardwire my laptop to the router. Of course this works, but what's the point of having a laptop when I have to keep it hardwired on my desk? After a day or two, I decide to check if the wireless connection works, and it did. I was surprised. But every now and then, it would shift on and off. Most of the time, the wireless connection is either EXREMELY SLOW or I get none at all, nonetheless, it still says the connection is Excellent.
Please, if there is anyone who could help or try to help me, I would most appreciate it. If there is more information that you need, ask me and I will try my best to provide it to you.

Admittedly, that IS a strange case. Unfortunately, it sounds like all possible troubleshooting has been done by the tech support agents. you mentioned that you were dissatisfied with your other service, did it have a similar problem? theres a possibility of dirty fiber or a bad ONT port, but the random rebooting of the router would almost exclusively be a bad router. question: is the router in the same location as before?

  • Problems with Wireless connection AFTER 10.4.2 update

I have read several topics on wireless problems AFTER the 10.4.2 update and wondering if anyone (or Apple) has found a fix to this problem. I cant get to my network or the internet via airport. I have tried zapping the pram, resetting the permissions, rebooting, checking for more update on a wired connection, reinstalling both 10.4.2 combo and 4.2 update and still nothing. This happened RIGHT after the reboot upon completion of the update. Im stuck and wondering if anyone has a solution or has any one SUCCESSFULLY contacted Apple and have they got a solution to fix the problem??

I'm having the same problems with accessing my airport base station (first generation snow at 4.0.9) after loading the airport admin 4.2 patch. I loaded the 4.2 patch on my g5 and G4 running 10.3.9. The response/across of the wifi connection is very poor. I can't use chicken of the VNC to manage the G4 from the G5 anymore at all due to the slow response and accessing the internet via either the G4 or the G5 is like a dial up connection. The broadband speed test results are 192mb to 274mb up and similar down.
I have a 12"powerbook (DVI 1gig version) with 10.3.9 that I have not loaded the 4.2 patch on and I am not having any issues with wifi access to the base station or the internet. broadband logs in right at 2.8mb via DSL. I also have a Dell laptop that I access the internet through the airport base station and I have no issues with speed and the same 2.8mb broadband speed test results.
Conclusion something in the airport 4.2 patch has changed the airport cards ability to see the base station.
With all that said, my question is - How do I back out of the 4.2 airport admin patch provided by apple or how do I resolve the slow response times between the airport cards in the G4 and G5 and the base station?
    Any help?

  • HP Photosmart C4780 problem with wireless connection & firewall

    Hi
I am trying to connect my HP Photosmart C4780 to my wireless network at home.
Each time I try to configure my printer to my wireless network I keep getting the following HP Network Diagnostics Error Message:
Problems may exist with network functions of the printer.  Please try to fix the issue then click Retry or click Next to continue.  See details below.
Your printer is unable to communicate with your printer at 192.168.1.69.  This may be caused by firewall software.  If you are using firewall software verify that UDP port 427 is unblocked for both inbound and outbound traffic.
Your PC cannot communicate with your printer at address 192.168.1.69.  Check all cable connections.  Check that the printer, PC and router are powered and connected to the network.
MY QUERY - I have AVG 2011 security software installed on my laptop which I presume contains firewalls.  But I do not know how to "verify that UDP port 427 is unblocked for both inbound and outbound traffic".  How do I do this?
i am not a tech expert so would appreciate as much help as possile with this as right now I cannot use my printer as it keps showing as Offline.
    Many thanks
    This question was solved.

  • Problems with wireless connection to laptop.

Last night I just bought a Wireless-G Broadband Router with Speedbooster with a Toshiba Satellite A105-S2101 laptop. My plan was to take the internet connection from our cable modem hooked up to our desktop, and create wireless internet for the laptop to use.
Everything was hooked up just fine and on the laptop it even says that the signal strength is excellent and that the wireless connection is working, but the "Local Area Connection" seems to be disconnected or not working. I have no idea what that problem is but everything seems to be working just fine besides that. That's what I believe is holding me back from using the internet on my laptop. If you can help me out with this problem I'll be VERY happy, because frankly this is making me mad.
I'll answer any questions you may have.

The problem there is that the router is not yet properly configured for the internet connection that's why it's not working.
Connect your laptop directly to the modem and if you're onlien go toi www.linksys.com/connect and download easy link connect on your computer and run it with the same connection and it will automatically configure the router for your wired and wireless internet connection.

  • Problems with wireless connection between new macbook and older imac

I have just bought a 2.0 ghz macbook core2duo and am unable to connect to my wireless internet network at home. My wireless connection is set up through the airport card in my 17" flat panel imac (i.e. I am using the imac as the internet base station). I had an old clam shell macbook (which just died hence the new macbook) and still have a 400 mhz graphite SE iMac which both connec(ed) to the network perfectly for years. But the new macbook will not connect. It will connect when connected via ethernet. The imac uses Tiger.
I have tried resetting the name of the network, using encryption and not using encryption, but nothing helps. The macbook appears to see the network (although no bars register in the airport connection icon) but I always get an error message when trying to connect.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks

I am not actually using a router as I am using the airport card (non express i believe) in my iMac to send the wireless signal. My modem is Motorola but not sure which model. I have Comcast cable internet service

  • Problem with bluetooth connection between iPhone 5s iOS 8.1.2 and MacBook Pro (Mid 2012) Yosemite 10.10.1

After the upgrade to iOS 8.1.2 in iPhone 5s and OS X 10.1.1 Yosemite (MacBook Pro Mid 2012) can not connect my iPhone 5s to the MacBook, the iPhone tells me: "The MacBook is incompatible" or the message "Connection Error, Make sure the Mac is turned on and is within range" even the iPhone being close to the Mac. Otherwise with the updated iPad 2 (iOS 8.1.2) is connected via bluetooth to the MacBook without any problems, Even the iPad 2 does not detect the iPhone bluetooth.
    Help me please

An iPhone will not pair via Bluetooth to a computer (Mac or Windows) except for personal hotspot and then only if your cellular plan supports it. https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-7722
If you are attempting to use Handoff/Continuity, that does involve Bluetooth but the devices are NOT paired; Bluetooth just needs to be on and the devices in range of each other. The following may help with Handoff/Continuity issues: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5458

  • W510 problems with Nvidia driver recovery under Windows 7 (64 bit)?

Lenovo W510, Nvidia Qudardo FX 880M video, FHD:
What I'm seeing on occasion is a Windows 7 (64-bit) recovery, screen blanks out, goes 2-3 seconds, then recovers, things go back to normal, but a message displays saying that an error was detected in the video driver, and it has recovered. The new Firefox (4.0.1) seems to be one of the things that may be a contribution, hard to tell.  Per System Update at least, I'm current on the Lenovo downloads. SIW shows the driver level as 8.17.12.5738 (2010-06-27). Nvidia web-site shows their current driver level on the wen-site as 270.61 (2011-04-18), which is a considerably newer date at least. So two questions:
Has anyone else seen Driver/Recovery issues on Win 7 (64)
Has anyone directly run the Nvidia video drivers and had them run OK?
Seems like it would be nice for Lenovo to update their drivers, if indeed this is a driver issue, they appear back-level.

I used to have this problem with my W510 running Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit, especially Firefox 4 crashing the Nvidia display driver almost constantly. I googled and found that this is a known problem between older Nvidia driver and Firefox 4. Later on I downloaded the latest version of Nvidia driver from Lenovo website (it was not posted on the System Update server yet but was available on the regular download site). I clean-installed it (i.e., removing all files and settings created by the old driver) and I haven't experienced the problem since then.
