Having a slideshow play automatically?

Hello, All,
I tried to do a slideshow in Flash Catalyst like the one at this link:
http://www.esppromo.com/index.asp
It seemed to work out fine, with the buttons working and taking you to a specific slide and the links for each image taking you to a specific URL, but unfortunately I can't get mine to play automatically when the page loads like the above link does. With the one I created you have to click through each slide manually or nothing happens. I'm just wondering if there is something I'm missing here?

What you have now is a DATA disc in BluRay format... which is not really a "movie" disc... which is why it does not play automatically
You need to download the PDF and start reading to learn how to use Encore to AUTHOR a BluRay that will play automatically... also read the tutorials
I don't do BluRay, but I do have some links that give information on what you may give to Encore for authoring

XML Photo Album to play automatically

Hi,
I've come across a great tutorial and source files for the
xml photo album:

How would I implement the slideshow to play automatically and
continuously? Also, adding some spacing in between the thumbnails
would be nice as well.

Are you sending an album or a slideshow? I don't think music can be assigned to an album.
Have you tried asking this question in the iPhoto forum (assuming it's an iPhoto question) or the AppleTV forum (if it's more a question about the AppleTV?).

Animation does not play automatically when published

I am having a problem with swf files that do not play automatically in my project. Actually some do and some do not. I have the properties set to no transition and rest of slide and even tried rest of animation. The slide works when I play it but when I preview the project the animation does not start. Sometimes I can click the play button and it will play but the other objects will have started so the timing is off.
Does anyone have any suggestions to try? Thanks Emily

Welcome to our community, Emily.
Usually things pause because there is a Button, Click Box or Text Entry Box object on the slide and these objects pause the slide waiting for user interaction.
Do the slides where you are seeing animations stopping have any of these objects? If so, you may need to tweak the pause point. (indicated by the double bars ( || ).

Songs playing automatically

Hello every one this is another huge issue which i got now my songs are playing automatically when i swipe right and then move up down my apps suddenly a song starts playing automatically it happens only when i pause the song.

See i tried this one more time and it happened once again. Do as i say i am having latest version of developer preview. Pause a song then go to home swipe right then as fast as you can swipe up down device will lag for a second and then your paused song will start playing automatically this is a serious issue what if someone kept his phone silent busy somewhere there is no music aloud and suddenly out starts playing.

As long as you don't mind doing a little post publish editing of your .js files, it's fairly easy to do. You will find them in this path on your iDisk, using the Go menu in Finder:
Go/iDisk/MyiDisk/Sites/iWeb/Nameofsitefolder/Page_filesFolder/Page.js
Open the .js files for that particular page on your iDisk with any text editor (I like Taco, and it's free) and make the following changes to the script code that controls your movie: (you will find the movie code near the top of the page in the .js file)
Change autoplay="false" to autoplay="true"
Change loop="false" to loop="true"
Changing controller value="true" to controller value="false" will remove the controller from the page entirely. Make these changes in both sets of tags, (object and embed).
Make the changes and just "Save". Clear your browser cache and you should see the changes take effect immediately. Bear in mind you will have to make this modification each time you republish your site. You can also save this modified .js file and replace the republished file with it, as long as no other changes were made to the page in iWeb.

How can I disable .mp4 videos from playing automatically on Yahoo News? (and elsewhere)

I posted a similar question last week about disabling html5 videos and that seems to have worked. But I notice that when I look at the Yahoo News main page, some videos (thumbnails) are playing automatically as I'm scrolling up and down the page. I find that annoying, distracting, and is probably consuming data on my limited plan.
I see other questions posted about .mp4, but those are all how to PLAY rather than NOT play videos.
Any help would be appreciated.

Select the songs, press CTRL+I to Get Info, on the Options tab set Skip when shuffling to Yes.
If you want to the hide the songs from your main music view you could consider changing the media kind to audiobooks or podcasts if you don't mind the side effect of them showing up there instead.

How do I make a project play automatically

I have recorded 4 presentations, all with a power point presentation first slide. When doing one of them I found somewhere a setting so that it starts playing automatically, the other 3 need the user to either click on the start button on the toolbar or use the enter key. I have searched and searched to find how I managed to get the one starting automatically but can not now find it - any help from anyone would be much appreciated as I would like them all to start playing automatically.

Well, it's because you didn't advise up front what version of Captivate you are using. As you seemed to be a new user, it would appear I mistakenly assumed you were using version 4.

As for auto starting, if you are using Captivate 3 or older, it should already be playing automagickally. This would infer you have a Button, Click Box or Text Entry Box object on the first slide. Any of those objects will typically pause the playback until they are dealt with.

How can I make an mp3 play automatically in one Scene (NO buttons)? I have been searching the net for answers for over 10 hours with no answer... My movie will not be for the web, it needs to be portable (CD or flash drive)...

You just need to look in Help for the Sound class and possibly SoundChannel... if you have an MP3 in your library - right click it, and go to properties. Set the sound to export for ActionScript - and give it a class name - mySound will work. Then you can make it play with something as simple as:
var a:SoundChannel = new mySound().play();

you update it by connecting it to a computer running itunes and starting itunes up on the computer clicking on it in devices and clicking on the update button in the content menu
if it say you have the latests then it's because you don't own an iphone 3gs but an iphone 3g where the version 4.2.1 was the last released
in that case you can't ever update it

Why doesn't slideshow play w/ ken burns effect?

I love the way my slideshows play in iphoto - but when I move them to idvd, I lose the motion/effect. I know there's a way to overcome this, as I've done it a few times...but I do them so infrequently, that I can never remember...anyone - please?!

Try Share/Exporting it from iPhoto to Quicktime (full quality). You can double-click this file and make sure it works correctly. If so, drag it into the menu area (not a drop zone) in iDVD, and you're on your way!
