Having an imported image show in Illustrator as it shows in photoshop ?

Hello,
I'm having problems with the appearance of imported images in Illustrator:
I first created an image in Photoshop that I planned on using as a background for an illustration,
and then import it in Illustrator.
Once imported in Illustrator, it doesn't look the same at all…
I'm running on Mac os 10.8.5 and Illustrator and Photoshop cc.
Here is a sample of how different it looks.…
Left, illustrator, right, photoshop.
Both files in Photoshop and Illustrator are RVB (also tried with both in CMYK).
I tried importing jpg, tifs, psd… same problem.
I tried importing the imported image in a new Illustrator file. Same problem.
No effect is applied to the image, it is just imported and that's all.
Any ideas on what is happening?
Thanks in advance for your answers!
Keth.

In Illustrator look in preferences for the option "Smooth Bitmap images in Preview" (or the like, I'm not sure about the wording) and select it.

  • Importing Image Trace from Illustrator CC to InDesign CC

I am using InDesign CC trying to import image traced objects from Illustrator. I did this once successfully, but now when I try to paste the object into indesign, it says: "This command would create a large number of page items and would severely degrade performance. Data will be placed as embedded EPS. Then the image becomes very low res and I cannot work with it. How can I bring in the image with outlines to be able to manipulate the image? Thanks.

You would need to simplify the paths, or paste them in small groups.

Recently, I have been having problems importing images into the livecycle forms. I put in the image field and link the image but it would just show a broken link symbol. i usually edit the image in photoshop and save as a jpeg. I can't figure out why Livecycle takes some images but not others.
    Please help anyone

Never mind, I figured it out, have to save files in RGB format, not CMYK

    Hi jeff.silverman,
There is no Linx(Ubuntu) Add-in for Connect 9 or any 9.x release.
the one you have mentioned adobe_connect_addin_lin64_r81.deb is for Connect 8.x.
But to you can attend the Meeting?semianr in Ubuntu in chrome, as you ave already checked that you are using FP 11.8 ( the one Coming bundled with chrome)
As i am able to attend the meeting on chrome with Fp 11.8 and on Ubuntu 12.04.
Yes as Jorma mentione dyou can't used the Features that require Add-in like screen share, pptx sahre.etc.
if you are not able to attend the meeting with appending ?launcher=false in chrome.
could you please share the error you are getting.

  • Lost imported images...

    Hello all,
I imported over 300 photos from my camera into my i-Photo library. I clicked to open the "last import" folder and it opened with all the imported images showing. Then I clicked on the first image to enlarge and the program froze up. I had to force quit the program as well as my i-Tunes because that happened to freeze up as well. I decided to restart the computer because it hadnt been restarted in some time and when I went back into my i-Photos, the recently added items were gone. I dont know where they could have gone but they were deleted off the camera so my only way to recover them is via the computer. They were all successfully imported because I did see them... they are just missing now. BTW, they are the only images that are missing.
Please advise as to a remedy for recovering these items.
    Thanks so much,
    JC

Try the following: launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the first three options. If that doesn't recover your photos the rebuilding with iPhoto Library may do it:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be untouched for further attempts at fixing or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory .
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • I have just purchased a Nikon D7000 and iPhoto downloads jpgs but does not show them. It shows an empty frame. If you double click the frame it will show the image. I have tried importing images from the Nikon provided software and the same thing happens.

I just purchased a Nikon D7000. However, iPhoto does not display JPEG images. I seems to download ok, but displays only an empty box. Double clicking on the box opens the image in a single display window. It does the same thing when importing from Nikon's supplied software. Forget about handling RAW files. Now, I'm having difficulty importing JPGs from Photoshop files for slide shows or use in iMovie.

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • How do I import an image to a message I'm composing in messages for mac without having to use image capture?

When I try to do this, I right-click in the compose area and click on "import image" and all I get is the image capture window which doesn't show anything.  How do I do it from iphoto or another location such as the pictures folder?

I think that command is for getting a picture directly from a scanner or camera.
Just drag the photo you want from iPhoto onto the messages window.

  • After importing images from my card using LR 5.4, the GPS data does not show in the metadata panel. However, when I look at the imported images using Bridge, the GPS data is visible. Anybody know why LR is not seeing the GPS data? Camera is Canon 6D.

After importing images from my card using LR 5.4, the GPS data does not show in the metadata panel. However, when I look at the imported images using Bridge, the GPS data is visible. Anybody know why LR is not seeing the GPS data? Camera is Canon 6D.

Ok, the issue seem to be solved. The problem was this:
The many hundred files (raw and xmp per image) have been downloaded by ftp in no specific order. Means - a couple of files in the download queue - both raw and xmps. Most of the time, the small xmp files have been finished loading first and hence the "last change date" of these xmp files was OLDER than the "last change date" of the raw file - Lightroom then seem to ignore the existence of the xmp file and does not read it during import.(a minute is enough to run into the problem)
By simply using the ftp client in a way that all large raw files get downloaded first followed by the xmp files, we achieved that all "last changed dates" of the xmp files are NEWER than the related raw files. (at least not older)
And then LR is reading them and all metadata information has been set / read correctly.
    So this is solved.

  • Import images grid does not show file extension

I use Aperture in a "referenced" mode. At times, I have jpeg files in the same folder as my nef files (which had already been imported into Aperture). The import images list does not have (or I cannot find out how to display) the file name that shows the file extension too. Of the data available, i can scroll to the right and see a lot of different metadata in the list, but not the file extension.
Does anyone know how to have the file extension displayed in the list that is shown when trying to import?
    thanks

Aperture can display just about anything you would like to display. The key is putting the correct field into the metadata set for that is being used for the browser or viewer that is active (you can have two ready to go and switch between them or none with a shortcut key)
This should tell you everything you ever didn't want to know

  • Imported images not showing in catalog

I have imported images from my Canon 5D markIII and somewhere along the way, I've made an error in the settings.  The images are on my computer but not showing up in a folder in the LR4 catalog...how do I get them into the catalog?  When I try to find them, they are all greyed out and I can't move them - a message says that it seems that duplicates are already on the computer (or something like that).  Can anyone guide me through this?

uncheck "don´t import possible duplicates" in the import dialog.
this is a screenshot from the german version but you should be able to find that checkbox:

when you are sure they are in a folder on your harddisk you have imported into LR already, but they don´t show in the LR catalog, then rightclick on the folder in lightroom and choose "syncronize folder".
a windows will come up with different options you can choose.
you can search for new files in the folder and import them into lightrooms database.
or delete files from the database when they are not in the folder anymore.

  • Lightroom 5 is not showing previous sucessfuly imported images and images are not identified as missing, there are no images shown in the library, how do  I reconnect missing images?

lightroom 5 is not showing previous successfully imported images and images are not identified as missing, there are no images shown in the library, how do  I reconnect missing images?

If the images are not identified as missing ... then you can't reconnect them
But I'm not really sure what is happening, as I don't understand your description of the problem, could you show us a screen capture? Or describe what appears on your screen in much more detail...

    Hi
I am a keen photographer and I have just bought you SD card reader for ipad. This works well but was winding if there is an app that I can view the images on the SD card full screen without having to import them to the iPad or is there a way to do this on the iPad
The reason for buy this was for when I was out and about to get a better view off my images.
    I have a iPad 2 16gb
    Hope you can help!
    Thanks

A couple of weeks ago, (after reading a review in TUAW) I bought a wireless hub/ SD card reader called RAVPower.  its app comes with a built in viewer, so you can load it up, and see the pics full screen.

  • Opened up LR and none of my images show in import, library, collections, filmstrip or develop modules. All other data is there.

I opened up LR 5 today and found that NONE of my images show up as thumbnails, filmstrip, in develop module, import or anywhere else. In develop module, all develop settings are there. The only thing missing is the image itself. I cannot see ANY of my images even though they are physically there on the HD. If I select an image (or image placeholder) and select "edit in PS", then PS opens and I see the full image for editing. I just don't see any of my images while in LR. I've rebooted my comp, did a "repair" on the LR installation and even a re-install of LR5. NOTHING works. I need help!!!
