Having an ITunes nightmare!!

Please someone help... I had ITunes and QuickTime Pro running on Vista Home Premium - no significant problems. Then 2 days ago, I decided to upgrade to Windows 7 Professional 32-bit and needed to re-install both programs. For a day or so, I couldn't get ITunes to even open. I tried opening it in Compatibility Mode, as an administrator, tried to restore it to an earlier version, opened it from all different areas (Desktop, Start Menu, Program Files, etc.) - but no dice. Reinstalled it 2 more times. Nothing. Then, yestreday online I found a tweak where you "show all files and folders" and then go into (C:>Program Data:>AppleComputer:>ITunes:>SCInfo) and delete files SCInfo.sidb, and SCInfo.sibb (I believe). Anyhow, that fixed it!! Suddenly, I was able to open ITunes! Woo-hoo!!... That is, except with one slight problem - now, none of the videos I have purchased (or TV shows) will play in either ITunes or in QuickTime. In QT, the video seems to play, as the timer shows it ticking by, but there is no video - just a gray screen and there is no sound. In ITunes, after hitting play, there's absolutely no sign of life (no video, or sound) and the timer just stays at 0:00, and doesn't move. PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME: What happened? Oh, and by the way, I did reinstall both QT and ITunes again. Still no go. I also updated all my codecs.

What is purpose of having an iTunes Library when I already have purchased apps?

I am new to the Apple ecosystem, so please pardon my ignorance here. I am using iTunes on Windows desktop, but I have the same problem on my Mac laptop.
I have some apps purchases that show up when I am in iTunes and select Purchased or Apps.
But when I select the option of My iPhone Apps at the middle top of the screen, or select My iPad Apps, the list of apps is empty. Yet, I clearly have purchasesd some, because they show up under "Purchased."
And when I run the Apps app in my iPhone, it shows the purchased items that are NOT on my iPhone but are ready for downloading to my iPhone.
So, this is making me wonder: What is the purpose of having an iTunes Library for storage or syncing, when I could use the Purchased list?
Am I misunderstanding the reason for having the Library?

So, it sounds like I should move them to the iTunes Library for both my iPhone and my iPad. I found that if I click the app, it appears in the library. Among the apps that I have purchased, there are some apps that I don't want anymore. So I assume that I should NOT click (i.e. move) those to the Library, right?

Why are there so many more choices on the USA iTunes Store? Surely having an iTunes account should let you access all itunes availability the world over? Also how do you request films/tv series to the UK itunes?

Also how do you request films/tv series to the UK itunes? There's tv series I'd like but they're incomplete like The Batman & Xena Warrior Princess. And films theta aren't available for download but you can purchase in a store like HMV? Apple isn't doing itself any favours by secluding countries by their store. They'd make billions if you could just select the iTunes Store you want to search & purchase from just by signing in! If anything what they're doing is putting themselves into a corner, other companies like Samsung & HTC are already on too of them for innovation & ease of use. The people they're attracting are predominantly existing Apple users not new customers. What do you guys think?

It's not Apple's choice, they can only sell a particular item where the content provider/rights-holder has granted them a license to sell them. Content is licensed by the rights-holders to Apple on a country-by-country basis, each country therefore has to have its own store, and you have to be in a country to use its store - they want control over where their content is available.
You can try requesting that an item be added to the UK store via this page, but unless the rights-holder agrees to then Apple won't be able to sell it here : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

Help! Having an email nightmare

I'm having a complete nightmare today since finally updating my software on my Macbook Pro, iphone6 and iPad (original) Now the email (hotmail.com) won't work on any of them!
Please can you help?
The problem seems to be different on each device. Firstly hotmail has never worked for me via safari. If I sign in via the internet safari button I get to an empty inbox. I've no idea why. I have not switched on 2 stage security if that's relevant?
At the moment I can't send emails from this laptop even if I use the mail button. This is new, ever since I updated the software. I get an error message "Cannot send message via the server SMTP.live"
On my iPhone I can access my mail except my inbox is empty.
I've never been able to access email on my iPad, no matter how much I have altered the settings.
Please can someone help? I need to access emails on my phone for work.

After struggling with this for several hours I think I've found a solution. I reset network settings on the iPhone and iPad, prevented any of the outgoing servers from being the only server and did something (can't remember what!) with iCloud.
I wonder if part of the problem is that when you reset a password on hotmail it takes a while for the server to update your information? I had a blizzard of wrong password error messages on all 3 devices for a couple of hours after changing my password but now they finally work.

Importing spoken word into iTune nightmare

seems the folks at apple need to continually change the format for iTunes.. and now installing spoken word CDs have become a nightmare.
I fiddle around so much I never really know what words.. anyone have a nifty solution.. like how to?

Why is it now a nightmare?
Importing audiobook CDs works exactly the same as it has for years in previous versions of iTunes.

Having purchase iTunes Match, it will not finish syncing; won't complete process. SOS

I bought iTunes Match and haven't been able to complete the syncing process over several days. It will go thru the steps 1, then 2 and stalls on 3 (uploading art work and remaining songs.) I have had several serious problems over the past couple of years, twice having lost my musical Playlists. I've had to reconfigure them & neither time are they the exact same -- this means, from my conbination of internet buys & manual downloads, there are years of different kinds of files. Any help offered will be appreciated.

This thread is about devices not syncing properly. If your iPod Touch isn't behaving normally it's more likely that there's an issue with the device itself.

Having one iTunes music library for multiple computers via TimeCapsule

Hi there,
I'm just wondering how to best set-up my iTunes library. I want the library on my TimeCapsule wireless hard drive, and to be able to set this as the library for multiple computers at home. It's a waste of space to have duplicate libraries on both computers.I had this working with an earlier version of iTunes, but its not working now.
I also want to know how I can get the wireless device to fire up simply by pressing the iTunes icon. If I do this without, iTunes says it can't find the library.

Frank, yes. Only one library of the songs and content if it's stuff from the Music Store.
If the music is your own CD rips, then you can put all the music on a central server and have all the computers connect in on your home network.
You do NOT set your iTunes to share their libraries, or look for shared libraries, you manually do the drag-and-drop with your networked music folder into the iTunes library window and each copy of iTunes behaves as if the network volume is it's own.
The only shortcoming to this is if you add music with one machine, the others will NOT have the new songs added to their own library lists unless you drag and drop the songs into the iTunes library manually for each computer.
I have enough music that I have broken down the library list into five folders, A-E, F-J, K-O, P-T, and U-Z. When I add new songs, the folders they're in will be added at the root Music Library folder level, so I can refresh the libraries with the new music THEN manually file it into one of those five correct folders.
This is what my network library looks like:

The G4 frankenbeast computer in our living room, is the media server for the house and has the stereo system rigged through it and is used to rip vinyl and watch the video. I still have to refresh the libraries in my husband's laptop, and on my main internet computer, so those albums haven't been filed yet.
Of course the caveat here is that I haven't a single item that's purchased through the Music Store and thusly locked down, since I rip my own LP's and CD's, so everything is much more flexible in how I can handle it.

Syncing to itunes from a new computer without having original itunes library

Hi there i am stuck in a tricky situation and would appreciate all the help i can get, first things first i know this is quite a frequently asked question as i have done a bit of searching on the net about it however could not not find anything that totaly matches my problem, i have recently purchased a brand new laptop which runs windows 7 compared to my old desktop which ran XP, i have tried syncing all of my iphone 4s contents onto my new laptop's itunes library including everything not just music or videos and i got the infamous pop up "The iphone is synced with another Itunes library. Do you want to erase this iphone and sync with this Itunes library" the problem is that my original itunes library does not exist no more as my desktop was completly wiped and had XP redownloaded onto it again because it had a virus, which also wiped all of my hard drive so i cant even get everything i backed up off of my phone from it, i have managed to sign in to the itunes store and allowed my laptop to work with itunes, i have also transferred my purchases from my phone to my new itunes library but this only includes my apps and obviously not my contacts and photos and everything, i still get the pop up if i go to sync my apps from my library anyway, is there any way i can delete my original itunes library without it even existing anymore so that i can just start afresh and sync everything i have on my phone now directly to my new itunes library? or do i need to purchase this iphone rip/backup/store software that everyone goes on about or something? to be honest its really annoying my now as i just want to be able to sync everything like how i used to, someone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me i would be so greatfull for any good sollutions to this problem, thankyou

How to copy from iPod to iTunes without having old iTunes version?

I have a first generation iPod nano. The songs on this were loaded from an old windows based desktop which has long since passed on. I want to copy the songs from this iPod into itunes on a brand new apple MacBook. Can I do this? All the forums I seem to refer to require iTunes working on the old computer, which I do not have.

If you didn't make a back-up of your purchases to restore from then I'm sorry to say that the policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage." iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. Itunes nightmare

Hi was wondering if someone could help ?
I have a iphone 3gs and all of a sudden i have a few problems and starting to get a bit frustrated with the customer supporrt from apple ans 02 !
Since syncing my itunes library the episodes of tv shows ae showing album artwork instead of tv show pic,and not just 1 album artwork but four album covers ! !
No one seems to be able help ! i also cant arrange photos into folders so just have one big folder on iphone ?
Any help would be great as any more of this and think i will go back to different phone !
Is itunes always this hard to use ?

Do you not have a home computer you can use for your iTunes purchases? You might think about getting an external hard drive to back up.

Having two itunes accounts in two different countriesntries

Hopefully this hasn't been answered before - I couldn't find it using a search.
I spend my time living between Australia and Canada. I currently use the Australian itunes store with an Australian credit card (with an Australian billing address). However, as I am spending more time in Canada lately I would also like to be able to have a Canadian account so I can download content from the CA store. If I have a Canadian credit card with a Canadian billing address can I do this?
I don't mind the fact that I will need two apple account or the fact that I won't be able to sync devices to multiple accounts - just wondering if it will be against the itunes t&c if I am physically in Australia but using a Canadian itunes store and vice versa if I have two legitimate accounts.

Reinstalling itunes nightmare

i updated itunes and it all went wrong so i have removed it
whenever it gets to the "registering itunes automation server" part it just seems to stop doing anything and i get the error message
"itunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. please reinstall itunes"
i have turned off the firewall and also the spyware jobby but nothing

HI I had a problem with syncing and got error -48 which ipod support couldn't find in windows directory. What I did to solved the problem was uninstall itunes then delete all update files in your directory and any files that pertains to apple or itunes.Don't touch your ipod files. After that reinstall the latest version of itunes. My music was in a separate file. itunes converted then all back into the library. I did have a backup of my itunes,in case it didn't load my music. Good luck. I also went to an ipod store and setup an appointment with there genius bar.

TS3683 iTunes nightmare!!!

When backing up my iPhone and iPad to my iTunes it won't download a large number of albums bought from iTunes. The error message says that the originals can't be found, however the are still available in the purchased section of iTunes.

If you are trying to sync them to the iPhone and/or iPad then that message usually means that the actual music files for those albums are no longer on your computer e.g. if you click on them in the Music part of your library and try to play them on your computer's iTunes do you get a 'could not be found' error message ? If you do, and they show in the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page (with 'downloaded' against them), then try deleting them from your library and they should then get the cloud symbol against them on that Purchased screen for re-downloading.
