Having difficulties with JMF

Hi everyone,
I am trying to transmit audio/video data using JMF, but when I do, I get the next error:
Failed to create Data Source for vfw://0
Exception.
Error instantiating class: com.sun.media.protocol.vwf.DataSource:
java.io.IOException: Could not connect to capture deviceThe same error occurs when I try to send video using the JMStudio.
Can anyone help me out?

Your web cam is either (1) not connected (2) not working (3) being used by something else (4) not a VFW device, or you don't have JMF installed correctly, are trying to use JMF on a 64-bit OS, or something else >crazy like that.Ok, so it's probably not 1-4... still leaves any of those other suggestions...
So no one can help you with the amount of information you've presented. Still the case.

I am having difficulties with iPhoto slideshow. The slide show stops in the middle of a presentation and the system crashes. I must power off to exit the app and restart my MacBook pro.

To be completely honest, FCPX is a RAM hog. It just is. But, RAM is relatively cheap, and the pay-off is good.
4GB is right on the edge, IMHO. 16G is ideal.

Is anyone having difficulties with the new yahoo mail and mac 10.8.5?

I am using an older intel based imac desktop...it is updated to 10.8.5 I use Safari to browse. I use Yahoo for my email. I know...don't say it. Please. LOL
Anyway, it seems that Yahoo has changed their email system (again) and I am having all types of difficulties. For starters it keeps asking to I want to expand or collapse all. The icon or whatever it is called these days stays right there on my inbox and blocks me from getting to the email that is beneath it. When I try to forward and delete the sender's name, it deletes the entire email. Is anyone else having these difficulties?

As a general rule of thumb, I never install updates until I read its info and I am having problems with my current software. I hide the updates until I need them. Usually this happens when I update or upgrade my os. I don't fix what ain't broken is my golden rule.
It is possible that you need to update or upgrade Quark in order for your newer printer driver to work. First I would try the following....
Disconnect all peripherals from your computer.
Boot from your install disc & run Repair Disk from the utility menu. To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc, and restart your computer while holding down the C key as it starts up.
Select your language.
Once on the desktop, select Utility in the menu bar.
Select Disk Utility.
Select the disk or volume in the list of disks and volumes, and then click First Aid.
Click Repair Disk.
Restart your computer when done.
Repair permissions after you reach the desktop-http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2963 and restart your computer.
If your printer does not work afterwards, update or upgrade Quark. If that does not work, contact the printer manufacturer.

Tried to restore iPod and am now having difficulties with formatting

I had been having problems with my iPod Classic recently and I tried to restore it to factory settings. I believe the restore worked but I had walked away from my computer while it was going. Now, each time that i try to plug in my computer a folder pops up saying that I need to reformat the disk, but it won't let me. I'm not sure what to do. When I unplug my iPod from my computer and am looking through it, in my settings it says that I have 0GB free, yet, I have no music or anything on the iPod. Everything is listed as Other. Any ideas anyone has would be greatly appreciated! By the way, I've already gone through the recommended restore and reinstall steps.

Hi I am having difficulties with numerous duplicates in my itunes library.

I am having trouble with duplicates songs in my itunes library. It seems the songs keep being aded when I plug in my iphone or ipod. I need to know how to get rif of multiple songs in the library and possibly how to prevent this?
If you go to top you can pull down the duplicate songs menu and many songs sppear but if I try to delete them all will it erase them all or leave one copy? does anyone have experience with this?

Having Difficulties with the Paste Board Server (PBS)

I have having difficulty with the paste board server with extensive use of QuicKeys v3.1.1. I have a repetitive process that draws data from FileMaker Pro 8.0v3 to populate variables in QucKeys via the clipboard. The data is then used by QuicKeys to control automated processes in a FileMaker Pro 6.0v3 solution. After about 8,000 copies, pastes, assign variable, and use variable processes, the pbs dies and is no longer usable in any application. I cannot copy, cut, or past after that. A log out or restart is required to get the clipboard working again.
I found an old reference to this (dating back to December of 2004) on the Mac OS X HInts website. It reads as follows:
I may be an unusual case, but I have a repetitive problem with Apple's Paste Board Server (pbs) dying on a semi-regular basis. The main symptom is the inability to copy and paste between applications. Logging out or rebooting will fix the problem every time, but a less disruptive solution is to spawn a new copy of /System -> Library -> CoreServices -> pbs. Some apps will connect to the new server automatically, though many (notably Firefox and TextEdit) need to be quit and restarted before they start working normally again.
How can you tell if pbs is dead? Open a Terminal window and run:
ps x | grep pbs
If pbs is dead, you'll see something like:
350 ?? Z 0:00.00 (pbs)
22200 std R+ 0:00.01 grep pbs
If pbs is alive, you'd see:
350 p4 S 0:00.29 /System/Library/CoreServices/pbs
22200 std R+ 0:00.01 grep pbs
If you see (pbs) in parentheses, it's dead! Zombied to be technical. If you see the full path to pbs listed out, then pbs is running fine. If you see both, then chances are you've already restarted pbs manually at some point since you last logged out or rebooted.
If your pbs is dead, you can starte a new one. Just open a Terminal window and type:
nohup /System/Library/CoreServices/pbs &
I have tried the above to no avail. When I check the pbs using the terminal command as stated above, I get the ??, but I also get the full path and no (pbs). Starting a new pbs does not seem to work. This info, of course, being 2 years old may no longer be relevant.
My sense is that the constant use of the automated processes eventually reaches some limitation of the pbs and it needs to be reset. I'd love to be able to do this from time to time in the form of an AppleScript or Terminal command during the process.
Any help on this would be much appreciated

Having difficulties with XML Files and Final Cut Pro

Hi help community!
I am having a problem transfering / viewing / importing XML files from a hard drive onto Final Cut Pro.
I have tried importing and it says:
please choose a translation document file
followed by
ERROR:
No translation templates matching the selected XML were found. Unable to import this file.
I have also tried to convert using 'log and transfer' but in this instance I can see the XML file but its shaded & I am unable to click on it or drag it into the viewing window.
Any suggestions will be hugely appreciated! Thanks

Where did this XML come from? FCP only recognizes XML in the format it works with. It most likely willn not work with FCP in its current form.

Having difficulties with my M-Audio EX-P pedal.

Hey, I use Mainstage 2 for my live shows, and eerything works perfectly. I have multiple sounds across two different keyboards (M-Audio Keystation 49, Keystation 88). I use a sustain pedal which I have been able to assign to both keyboards or one induvidually just by having it plugged into the Keystation 88. I just received my EX-P pedal, and all I can get it to do is adjust volume on the Keystation 88 (as a whole, not any specific sounds). I was curious as to what all I could (or should be able to) do with this pedal. My plan was to be able to use it with my Keystation 49 to affect modulation and other effects I would add within the channel strip (such as Wah). Does anybody have experience with this pedal?

I will try that, thank you. Could I use the pedal through the volume or sustain input and then map the effect, or would I have to have a controller with an expression input?

Having difficulties with transferring iTunes. HELP!

I had to transfer my iTunes Library to my external hdd because I didn't have enough room on my laptop for it. It worked fine after I had transferred it and was using that library on my desktop. I never transferred or copied it to my desktop, I just used it via the hdd. But yesterday, when I went to get into my library, there weren't any songs in it. Then I went looking through my hdd to locate my library, I found a couple back up libraries but not my most recent library. When I opened the backups, they all had the exact same songs with the exact same date added. It wouldn't be so bad to just have these backup libraries if it hadn't been that I have added about 3,000 songs since that date added. Now they're all just on my iTouch and I'm trying to figure out how to get them into my Library without syncing and resetting my iTouch. My question is, how do I get all my songs and movies from my iTouch into my Library without resetting my iTouch to factory settings??
Any and all advice/help is greatly appreciated!!!!

For instance, the size of the ITunes folder is different, and inside the folder some files are not there, and all the music is not there either (in the external HD copied location).
Then the first thing to do would be to consolidate your new iTunes library as well: Open your new iTunes Library in iTunes and
Open iTunes Preferences:
Mac: Choose iTunes > Preferences.
Click Advanced.
Make sure the option to "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library" is selected.
Click OK.
Choose File > Library > Organize Library.
Then check if now your music is included in your new Library.
To see where iTunes stores a song, select the song in the iTunes Browser and control-click (or right-click) it and from the pop up menu select "Show in Finder".
If you see that the songs are inside the new Library, you can delete them from your old library.
The structure of your Library depends on your iTunes Version, so I can't tell you where to look - please post the version of iTunes you are using and the OS:

Recently bought Apple TV 3gen
Linked it up everything fine its just basically not hooking up with both my devices iPad mini and 4 s
I really want to view home video footage recorded and be able to view all my apps etc i have on both devices ?
AirPlay is on Apple TV have tried doing the double click on the home button twice but nothing
Am I asking to much of these devices please advise

When you did this, did you slide the icons over to reveal the AirPlay icon in the tray? If you want to mirror what's on your iPad screen you need to tap the AirPlay icon, select your ATV, then select the screen mirror option.
If you've done this and still can't get it to work, can you at least get audio to AirPlay from the iPad Music app to your ATV?

Am I the only one having difficulties with aol on my iPod touch? I can't download email attachments *videos n stuff* is this just me?

You need to reopen that case file for your initial problem and get that resolved. That's the first thing.
The second thing (the download times) can easily be checked out while you are at the Apple Store (as a test you do yourself). Find a couple of large apps (like maybe approaching 1 GB) in which you don't have any personal data in them, and delete them from your iPad. Then redownload them and see how long it takes at the Apple Store.
If it's quick and normal at the Apple Store, then you've got so,e problem with the iPad working right with your home WiFi, and you'll have to sort that out. If it's just as slow at the Apple Store, then you can open up case file on that issue while you are still in the Apple Store.

Is anyone else having difficulties with the Appstore not loading, iTunes store being unresponsive, and iTunes radio being down constantly today?

My itunes store is having connectivity issues and my net connection is fine. My appstore is also coming up blank rather frequently as well. Also I have not been able to get my itunes radio to work - saying an internet connection problem - again not the issue. Anyone else having these issues?

It sure is...all three keep acting very wonky. I'll be able to access the store from my macbook and then browse then not be able to connect. Same goes for app store....
As for itunes radio....seems a hot topic for everyone.

Having difficulties with installing Flash Player on Mac 10.5.8

I am running Mac 10.5.8 with the most recent version of Firefox and am unable to install Adobe Flash Player. I have tried uninstalling the previous versions of flash and have even used the Adobe Flash Uninstaller tool for mac to make sure everything is removed. I have verified that the new 11.1 Flash version has installed and Safari and Chrome both recognize it as being installed. However, on Firefox I just keep receiving the message " Additional plugins are required to display all the media on this page". Additionally, I have tried multiple versions of Firefox downgrading all the way to 3. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
