Having difficulty installing CS4 on OS X 10.8.3

Hello,
I recently purchased a new iMac and redownloaded CS4 Design Premium onto the new computer. Photoshop, Illustrator, Bridge and Acrobat open perfectly, however InDesign will not and states that files are missing? Does anyone have any recommendations? I would rather not have to purchase CS6 and from what I've read about CC I don't think that option is the best for me as I am a freelancer and use these programs occasionally, not daily. Looking forward to hearing suggestions!

Hi sjhgellman,
Please find the system requirements to install CS4: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/system-requirements-cs4-point-products.html#main_ MacintoshSystemReqs .

  • I am having difficulty installing my IP Printer onto my macbook pro.

I am having difficulty installing my IP Printer onto my macbook pro.
I have gone on system preferences and then on to add printer and put in my wireless IP address - which my printer is on, and the name of the printer but I dont think my mac is finding it.  As when I go to print using that printer there is an exclamation mark in a triange in front of its name and it says the printer is busy when it isnt.
This printer is also installed on my other windows desktops as an ip printer and it works perfectly fine I am just very confused why it wont connect to my laptop and Im not sure what I am doing wrong. I have just been typing the name of the printer in in the format it is on my windows desktops
    e.g. \\MASTER\Brother HL-2130series
         and
FX Document Centre 236 PCL 6
Please help I am so confused!

Generally speaking, for IP printers connected via Ethernet or wirelessly, you go to system preferences > Print & Scan, and click the + (plus) button. Most of the time the printer is found automatically.
If that doesn't work, click the IP pane, select "Line Printer Daemon", supply the printer's IP address, the queue name (usually this is optional), the name you would like to give the printer, its location (optional). For "print using", click "select printer software" and scroll throught until you find the appropriate driver.
When you are done it ought to look something like this:
Mac 101: Printing (OS X Lion)

  • Having problems installing CS4

The error code i get reads as follows....
    Suite Shared Configuration CS4
    Error:
Error 1603. Error 1310. Error writing to file:
    C:\Windows\installer\2c936.msi.      Verify that you have
    access to that directory.
Thats the error I get when trying to install even just photoshop from the CS4 design premium disks. My system is a Dell inspiron 1545 and I have had the program on it previously. But my HDD recently failed any detailed explaination would be greatly appreciated as my skills and vocabulary with software is very limited.

I finally got it to install! I'm not sure exactly how I did it I just followed the below directions and actually did it in the programfile folder tho I couldnt really get my permissions set to to full they were set to special. I checked the advanced and all permisions were set to full. Anyway not sure how I did it but this was the part of the the above document link that worked for me. Thanks again
You would need to perform the steps below on the folder reference in your error message. The ProgramData folder is used in this example.
In Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\.
         Right-click ProgramData and select Properties.
Important: If you are unable to see the ProgramData folder proceed to the section, "To show hidden files and folders" then continue with step 3.
In the ProgramData Properties window, select the Security tab (1). Click Advanced (2).
In the Advanced Security Properties For ProgramData window, select the Owner tab (1). Click Edit (2).
Select the Administrators group (1) under Change Owner To, select Replace Owner On Subcontainers And Objects (2), and click OK (3). If a Windows Security dialog appears, click Yes to continue.
Click OK to close the Advanced Security Properties for ProgramData window.
Click OK to close ProgramData Properties dialog box.
         Right-click ProgramData and select Properties.
In the ProgramData Properties window, select the Security tab. Click Advanced.
In the Advanced Security Properties For ProgramData window, select the Permissions tab (1). Click Edit (2).
Verify that the value of the Permissions column for SYSTEM and Administrators say Full Control. If the value does not indicate Full Control.
Deselect Include Inheritable Permissions From This Object's Parent and click Apply.
Note: You can encounter a few dialogs to confirm that action. Copy the permissions and accept any security warnings.
         Click Edit.
Select Full Control and click OK.
Select Replace All Existing Inheritable Permissions On All Decendents With Inheritable Permissions From This Object (1). Click OK (2).
Click OK to close the Advanced Security Properties for ProgramData window.
Click OK to close ProgramData Properties dialog box.
Install Adobe Creative Suite 4 or Point Product. If you enabled the option for showing hidden files and folders in step 2, proceed to the section, "To hide hidden files and folders."

  • Having trouble installing CS4 trial

I'm trying to install the 30-day trial on Vista Home Premium. Everytime I run Setup.exe, it goes to Checking System Profile, then pops up with "Setup has encountered an error and cannot continue. Contact Atari Customer Support for assistance." I have enabled the jscript.dll and even turned UAC off, and it still won't work.

The answer lies in why in the world would Contact Atari customer Service pop up for when you are installing a Adobe product. Call Atari.
*lol* I guess those old Falcons and STs are hard to kill. Anyway, to the matter at hand... Did you install properly as administrator? Are there any other Adobe products on the system? If so, which ones? what did you try so far? Run the CS4 Clean Script? Uninstalled conventionally? It may also help, if you can provide the install log (C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Installers).

  • Is anyone having difficulty installing Apple TV 5.0 upgrade?

I have Apple TV 2. Since the announcement of the software upgrade, I tried several times to install it. It downloads fine, but then when step 1 of the 2 installation steps begins, after 2 to 3 minutes I get a message that says there was an error. I've rebooted the device and have tried several times but never any success.
Is anyone else having this problem and does anyone know of a fix?
    TIA

If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
    Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Source list, and then click Restore.

  • Having difficulty installing any OS onto iBook.

This blueberry iBook I got quite a while ago came with a broken OS 9 install (it would freeze just after the wallpaper came up). I'm trying to install a new OS. I'm well aware that Tiger doesn't work on it, so I'm trying to install Panther. Since I only have a DVD copy and the optical drive is a CD-ROM, I am forced to use an external DVD drive. Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Panther came on DVD only for select Mac models. The retail Panther came on CDs. If you are using any other copy of Panther than the one shown here*:
    * you have the wrong copy of Panther for your machine.
Also your machine's hard drive needs to boot successfully into Mac OS 9 to apply a firmware update before installing 10.2 or later. See this article for the necessary firmware:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86117
Boot into open firmware to discover the Boot ROM version of your machine, by holding command-optin-o-f at startup, and telling us what Boot ROM version you have.
Your Mac should have come with installer CDs that shipped with it new. If it didn't you may have difficulty getting it to install Mac OS 9. Contact the seller for the original discs.
Two versions of iBook came with Firewire that have colors. The iBook SE Firewire (the February 2000), and the iBook Firewire (the September 2000).
These are the Macs that will boot off Mac OS X on a Firewire external CD or DVD drive. USB is not Mac OS X bootable. According to this article, these Macs some of them can run off the 9.0 retail installer, while others can run only off the 9.1 retail installer if you are missing the bundled iBook 9 disc that came with the Mac. To tell if yours requires the 9.1 retail installer, these release dates are of import:
October 1999 is when 9.0 was released, Macs newer than that require the 9.0.4 retail installer.
April 2000 is when 9.0.4 was released, Macs newer than that require the 9.1 retail installer.
To tell the difference between release dates of the Mac, see this article from Wikipedia:

  • Having difficulty installing arch linux

Okay, so currently I have Windows. Before I put in the CD and restart my computer, I went to the Windows disk manager, and created some partitions so I wouldn't have to do it from the installation (I fear I may mess up and erase all my data). I'm trying to get a dual boot so i created partitions like http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Win … _Dual_Boot suggested. All the new partitions I created were raw, I didn't give them a filesystem. When I start the installer with the Arch Linux Net CD, and get to the Hardware part, I select "Manually configure block devices, filesystems and mountpoints." It shows a list of partitions except they ALL appear to be raw. I think it had the correct number of partitions, but I had no idea which one's were supposed to be my Windows partitions (i.e. Windows and Recovery partition) and which one's were the new one's I created. Not wanting to screw anything up, I decided to restart and ask for help here. Why don't my Windows partitions show up as having an NTFS filesystem?
Also, that article I linked to said the boot partition should be in the first 8.5 GB of the disk. Is it possible to do this in the Window's disk manager?

    Greetings,
Do you remember the order you made the partitions in? If not either Ctrl Alt F2 to open a new TTY and run cfdisk to get your partition info or reboot back into windows and open your partition manager tool and get the information and remember to write down, what is in first partition, what is in second partition, and so on... If using the cfdisk method you hit Ctrl Alt F1 to go back to your installation screen.
    Please note that first partition = SDA1, second = SDA2, third = SDA3, and 4th = SDA6.
You said you already crated a arch /home partition? That is not so until you have mounted and created the file system so no worries there. Just make SDA6 (assuming that is the large arch partition) your root / partition. You don't have to create a /home partition. Which ever is the windows partition, just ignore it/them in this step. The installer itself doesn't recognize NTFS as a file system in this process so it won't show it listed as one, but it is there.
Hope this helps, and good luck to you!
