Having issues encoding a project for DVD.

Thanks in advance to anyone who replies. I'm working on a 1 month old Macbook pro retina 15'' Intel Core i7, 2.8 GHz, 16 GB. Premier CC reaches 80% finished when exporting an mpeg2 for dvd, and then gives and error/unexpectedly quits. I've made 5 attempts to create the dvd file which is just under an hour long in runtime. The project was saved on an external drive, I moved it to the macbook internal hard drive and the error still happens at 80%. Is there a way to check and see if a certain clip is corrupted and causing this error?

I found a solution to export an hour long doc that worked with Premier CC,
File > Project Settings > General  > Renderer
The Renderer is set to default as: Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (Open CL)
Change this to: Mercury Playback Engine Software Only
After weeks of exports failing at 80% changing this setting worked and it spit my MPEG2 file out in no time.
Hope this helps

  • I am having issues with tech support for King Games!   Why can't they support their game?

I have been having issues with Bubble Witch saga for over a week! Mather continue to give me the run around.  Finally today, they have admitted that they are too busy with their other games to offer support!  They ask me to continue to be patient ! Lol. Please, see below.     What is one to do when these app companies are not able to support their apps?  Does Apple think this is good?
    Thanks!
    Dear Robin,
    Thank you for contacting us.
Please, you have to understand that there are a lot of games provided by King and therefor we have different support teams for the 'bigger' games. Therefor we don't have the information or tools to help you with your enquiries with Bubble Witch Saga.
    I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
    Kind regards,
    Gustaf
    King customer support.

Thanks!  I just think that Apple would have concern with App companies  who are being offered through Apple!  This may seem as though it isn't Apples issue but, in truth it is, to the extent that it looks bad on Apple. Apple, should expect companies that use their App Store to provide support for their product or not allow these companies to have apps in the Apple store!  Believe it or not..... This is a reflection!
But, don't worry, I am trying to get them to support the game.  At the very least my review will not be good and eventually I will stop playing as others have done!!!

  • Having difficulty sharing a project to DVD

I have a project that isn't burning to the DVD-R, but isn't giving me an error message.   I have burnt 2 successfully, one with menus, one without, so I know the burner is compatible.   It gets through many of the steps but when it starts the actual burning step, it stops at 5% and just keeps churning.  After a couple of hours the spinner goes away (stops churning) but it is still at 5% complete but there is no error message and nothing on the DVD.  It is large project but smaller than one of the other 2 that I was able to burn successfully.  I have over 600GB free, so shouldn't be a space problem.  Not sure what else to try, or tell you to help me understand what my problem is.
    Thank you!

When I do this same process with a project that does not contain menus, it was able to burn to a DVD and also a file.
Is this with the exact same Project, that is now giving you issues?
WMV's are process-intensive to handle, and are designed for streaming delivery, and not editing - especially in any version of Premiere.
Now, it appears that the error is occurring at about 5% (is that 5% of the Encoding, or the physical burn?) of the Encoding process, if I read above correctly. What is the Duration of your Timeline, in hours;minutes;seconds;frames? We can do the math (PrE uses 2-pass Encoding, so that 50% is the end of the first pass in that Encoding.
When one uses Burn to Folder, there is no physical "burning," being doine, only files being written, and then the DVD-Video file/folder structure being created.
The steps in the process are:
Encoding of the Timeline's Assets to a Video-only file, and to an Audio-only file.
Combining/Multiplexing of those two Steams into one MPEG-2 DVD file.
Deleting the separate, individual Stream files.
Encoding Menus (Motion Menus take a moment longer)
Creation of the VOB files, which are containers for the Menus, any navigation, and then spanning the MPEG-2 DVD file, if necessary, though several VOB files.
Writing the IFO and BUP files.
Adding the IFO, BUP and VOB files to the VIDEO_TS folder.
Burning that VIDEO_TS folder and files to disc, or just leaving it, where one chose for the destination location.
What I would do is look at about the 10% point in the Timeline, to determine what is there, and how it might differ from the first part of the Timeline. Assests, such as overly-large Still Image, MP3 Audio files, etc., can cause Encoding issues.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Encoding H.264 for DVD

I'm exporting raw DSLR footage (H.264, MOV files 1920x1080, 29fps), which has been edited as a 5 minute "film" sequence. I'm going to use Encore CS6 to create a DVD. What is the best Mbps setting for this? When I select HD 1080p, 29 fps, it shows the Mbps relatively high (32 to 40), but when I select any of the DVD (standard def) settings, it is below 8 Mbps, and when I select Blu-Ray, it is around 15 Mbps. It's my understanding that DVDs can only handle around 9Mbps, and that Encore will downgrade the sequence(s) because of this. Should I bother wasting time encoding at the higher rates? Some people on the forums have suggested encoding as high as 50 Mbps. I just need some guidance. When I send these projects to Disc Makers for pressing, I want to send the best quality product that I can.

In versions of Premiere Pro/Adobe Media Encoder since CS6, you can use the "scale to fill" crop setting to handle the small black bars that appear if you scale down HD to SD without any cropping.
Export from PR/AME as MPEG2-DVD at the highest bitrate your project allows - under the DVD spec limits. Since you are pressing, not burning, you can afford the highest rates. Only 5 minutes, just use CBR (constant bitrate) rather than variable.

    Hi guys,
I just had this issue after upgrading my iPhone 4s to the iOS 7. The App Store told me that I had to update at least 16 apps, so that's what I did. The main issue now is that every app that was supposed to be updated is not working anymore. The apps are kind of blurry with a waiting... underneath it, instead of the name of the app.
    Thanks!

  • Rendering a FCE project for DVD

    Hello,
I've made a wedding video for my friends, using Final Cut Express.  Could someone please give me instructions on how to render it (best quality possible) for a DVD burn?  The files were imported from an AVCHD Sony Camcorder, and I would prefer it to be a better quality.  Any help would be appreciated!
    Thank you!
    Justin

    >I would prefer it to be a better quality
Keep your expectations realistic; video will never be better quality than what was originally recorded.  And since DVD is standard definition only, if you recorded in HD, it will have to be downconverted to SD so it will play in DVD players.  Add to that the fact that DVD video is highly compressed MPEG-2 and you'll likely see a drop in quality from the original.
To export, go to File->Export->QucikTime Movie (do NOT use QuickTime Conversion).  Use the resulting file in iDVD or Toast to author and burn the DVD.

  • Jython having issue importing weblogic modules for changing passwords

I am trying to import some WLST modules into a Jython script as outline in the documentation at http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs92/config_scripting/config_WLS.html#wp1019971
The strange thing is that it says it is a WLST script, but it appears to be a Jython script. I tried performing this import using WLST interactive mode, but this did not work.
I am passing the passwords as encrypted strings while using the encrypt() function
    Here is the script:
    import sys
    from weblogic.management.security.authentication import UserPasswordEditorMBean
#To be invoked by java -cp /usr/local/bea/wlserver_10.0/common/lib/jython.jar org.python.util.jython
    #usage: wlst.sh ResetWLPassword.py <current_pass> <user> <new_pass> <adminServerURL>

    atnr.changeUserPassword(myUser,myuser,newPass)
    print "Changed password successfully"

You are calling org.python.util.jython again instead of weblogic.WLST like I advised in my first post. Invoke WLST (not jython) and pass your values in cleartext. Like I said in my previous post, I was able to execute your script without issue when calling WLST and passing cleartext values (I did have to modify one line to due a bug in your script -- see my prior posts). This seems to work in terms of getting the code to run, but there is still a problem with passing the arguments to the changeUserPassword() method.
I entered the sequence of commands in the script manually into WLST and it works without issue. It even works without the import, which is strange that Oracle includes it in their documentation.
I am going to post the code here, perhaps there is something wrong syntax-wise with the way I am authenticating, but I can't put my finger on it.

  • I am having issues with a site for work. it loads all the links on the left side of the screen. is there a way to fix this or get an older version of fire fox?

Its my office intraweb and I was told its not compatible with this upgrade

You can try basic steps like these in case of issues with web pages:
Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and the cookies from websites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
    *Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

So I'm having issues opening a project which was saved from my friends computer, while when I tried to open the file with CS6 a message poped up saying it was damaged and can't be opened so I updated my premiere pro to CC but when I tried to open it with this version a message saying that the project was saved in a newer version of Premiere Pro and cannot be opened in this version. What can I do to solve this problem?

Update to the latest version.  (There are several than can be called CC.)

I have just updated to 5.1 and want to export a project for DVD studio Pro 4. With 4.5HD I exported to mpeg2, 2 pass VBR, PAL. However, this option does not appear in 5.1. What is the equivalent please.

Export using Compressor - then choose a suitable preset to give a similar result, or you can customise to get exactly what you want!

  • Any free way to encode 5.1 audio track for DVD?

Besides the limited 3-use SurCode for Dolby Digital that comes with Premiere, is there any free way to encode or convert a 5.1 PCM WAV file to a surround format for DVD?
    Thanks!

I can't find the post, but I saved it...Here it is:
Like most of you, I was annoyed to find out I couldn't create AC3 surround sound files with my CS4 software, and also that we got downgraded from Audition to Soundbooth. We all paid a lot for it! I know many people have ranted about that already, so enough said.
Here is a workflow that gets around that problem without ponying up for the SurCode Plug-in, and/or buying Audition!
To convert your mixed 5.1 audio, or stereo audio, to the DVD standard AC3 file that Encore wants, download the latest version of Audacity here:http://audacity.sourceforge.net/  It is available for Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, GNU/Linux, and other operating systems.  If you don't know already, it's free!
Now, before I start getting flamed, about Audacity, it works great!  The UI is not the most modern, but the quality is top-notch.  I've used it for years and most complaints about it are unjustified.
You'll need to download the latest version: "Beta: 1.3x - for advanced users."  There will soon, I hope, be an Audacity 2.0 stable release. Until then, use the Beta release for this workflow.
Note:  I'll focus on Premiere Pro CS4, because that is where I originally troubleshooted this, but something similar will work for the other Adobe products that use sound.
    Workflow:
Create your mixed 5.1 surround sound audio in Premiere, and output the audio only by going to File > Export > Media, and selecting "Windows Waveform" as the output.  You should only have "Export Audio" checked.  Verify the format in the Summary section. You should see something like: 48000 Hz, 5.1 Surround, 16 bit.  Now under Audio codec, make sure "Uncompressed" is selected.  Click Okay, and Adobe Media Encoder should launch.  Click "Start Queue" and your audio file will be created.  You'll get an interleaved 6 channel wave file.  Not all applications will open it, but Audacity will.
Note:  When you mix your surround sound in the Audio Mixer, you'll place your little "Puck" where you want the sound to come from.  Picture yourself in the middle of the "dish," if it's a puck, isn't it in a rink, as in hockey rink...ah, but I digress.  Anyway, you'll notice that volume meters in the 5.1 (6 channel) Master section are laid out in the following order: L,R,LS,RS,C,LFE.  Also, if you open a 5.1 audio file in the Source panel, you'll see the same order from top to bottom: L,R,LS,RS,C,LFE.   Soundbooth also does it that way.  Ahh....Adobe...nice try.
The actual channel order should be L,R,C,LFE,LS,RS.  That's the order that you'll probably have to assign in the "Audio Output Mapping" section in the properties menu to get your channels to play correctly with your surround sound hardware. L,R,C,LFE,LS,RS is also the order that interleaved files use.  So after you create your 5.1 file, and open it in another audio program that displays them in the "proper" order, like Audacity, you'll see your tracks laid out from top to bottom in that order.  I'm not sure why Adobe does it that way, but oh well.
    Surround sound primer:
The LFE channel is not, despite popular misconception, a subwoofer channel.  Bass from all the channels in a surround sound Amplifier is summed and sent out to the Subwoofer.  The LFE channel is supposed to be used only for very low frequencies, to create extra  ...oomph.  I think that is the technical term.  It is not supposed to be used for bass frequencies from the other tracks.  It is for explosions, dinosaur footsteps, ...etc.
Audacity will open DVD ".vob" files, and even let you select which stream (usually Language) to open.  As an example, open up a movie with some action in it like Ironman (The movie starts at "VTS_03_1.vob") and look at the LFE channel.  It's the 4th track from the top in Audacity.  You'll see it's silent except at parts where there is thumping AC/DC music at the Intro, or explosions.  It's not used as a subwoofer channel!
With that in mind, you may have noticed, unless I'm missing something, that there is no way in the Premiere Mixer to assign an audio track only to the LFE channel.  Sure, you can dial up the "Bass Clef" knob to 0.00 db, and send a mono channel's audio to the LFE channel, but there is no place to put the "Puck" that only outputs to LFE.  There is one for the center channel, but without someplace to put it, your 40 Hz dinosaur footprint "Thump" is going to also be assigned to some of the other channels.  Which channels depends on your "Puck" placement.  This is not correct.  Again, unless I'm missing something, Adobe needs to correct this oversight.  We'll get back to this problem with a solution later, but first let's continue with the AC3 issue.
At this point you should have your wave file.  If you want to apply any global changes to all 6 channels, you can open it in Adobe Soundbooth and trim the beginning or end, and apply effects to the entire file.  You cannot, however, make changes to individual channels.  Audacity will!  We'll get to that later.
    Encode with Audacity:
Install the software and go to Edit > Preferences > Libraries, and click on "Download" for the "FFmpeg Library."  This is the library that Audacity will use to create the .AC3 file.  Once installed, the library version should show up next to "FFmpeg Library Version" While the "Audacity Preferences" window is still open, select "Import/Export" and select "Use Custom Mix", this is used to export a 5.1 channel file.  Now you're ready to open your .wave file from Premiere.  Drag and drop it in the Audacity workspace and you should see 6 mono tracks laid out from top to bottom in the following order: L,R,C,LFE,LS,RS.  Audacity will let you edit the individual tracks, unlike Soundbooth, thanks Adobe.  But for now, we'll keep it simple.  Set your "Project Rate" in audacity in the lower-left corner to what you want the AC3 file to be.  For DVD, chose 48000 (Hz).  If you leave it at 44100 (Hz) Encore won't import it.
Your almost done.  Now let's export the file.  Go to Files > Export... > and select "AC3 Files (FFmpeg)" in the "Save as type:" drop-down.  Click the "Options..." button and set the "Bit Rate:" for your file.  For 5.1 AC3 audio, probably 448.  Now enter a file name and click "Save."  This will open the "Advanced Mixing Options" window.  This allows you to re-map the tracks to a different channel order.  It should be correct, and it should show "Output Channels:" set to 6.  Press "OK" and you're done.
Presto, you have a 5.1 channel AC3 file.  Use that in Encore, or whatever DVD creation program you use, and when you play your DVD you'll have full 5.1 audio coming out your surround sound Amplifier.  That is if you have one.
    Test your file:
If you want to test your file, you can do a couple of things.  Since Soundbooth and Adobe  Bridge won't even open AC3 files, and Encore will open but only play the Left and Right channels in the preview, you'll have to either import the file into Premiere, or use another media player.
If you got Premiere to play your surround properly, then you can drag and drop the file into the "Project" panel and preview it from there. You will hear all 6 channels in the correct speakers, but I did notice that the quality is not very good.  Maybe Premiere doesn't decode AC3 all that well.  I heard some crackle that isn't in the file.  How do I know it isn't just a bad encoding job by Audacity?  Because I played the file with the VLC media player, and Cyberlink PowerDVD on the same computer, and also on a DVD in my home theater system with no artifacts.  Maybe Premiere doesn't decode AC3 files well.
The VLC player, will play almost any file in the known universe, and at least on my computer, it automatically played the AC3 surround file, created by Audacity, with all the channels mapped correctly.  That's right, full surround out my speakers with only default settings.  It's a great player.  Get it for free here: http://www.videolan.org/
    Test with Encore:
So far so good. Now open Encore, drop the AC3 file in an empty project, throw it on a Timeline and build the project without Video,  It will autoplay without a menu this way. If you set the End-Action to the same AC3 file it will repeat continuously.  Either burn this to DVD-RW and test it in your DVD player, or better yet, Build the project to a DVD Image instead, and mount it in a virtual DVD   Drive with a program like "Virtual CloneDrive."
If you don't know what that is, or how to do it, it is very simple.  Go to:http://www.slysoft.com/en/ and download "Virtual Clonedrive."  It is free.  It tricks your operating system into thinking you have another physical DVD drive.  In fact, it can create up to 8 virtual drives.  Now you don't have to waste time burning, and erasing DVD's every time you make a change to a project.  You can build your project as a DVD Image from Encore, save the .iso file to your Desktop and "mount" it (load it) in Virtual Clonedrive.  You're computer will now think you loaded a DVD into a physical drive, and launch whatever DVD player you have installed.  Mine launches "Cyberlink PowerDVD" which plays the AC3 audio-only DVD in full surround sound on my computer.
Building and testing projects this way will save you endless hours.  If you need to make a quick change, just "Unmount" the .iso in Virtual Clonedrive, rebuild your project to the same filename, and "Mount" it again.  Instant testing!
Now, as promised, back to that LFE Channel problem with Premiere that I mentioned:
Audacity will let you modify the individual channels in your interleaved 6-Channel file. So don't put anything in that channel in your Premiere mixer. Leave the "Bass Clef" knobs at full CCW position ( -00 db ).  The bass from the other channels will go to your subwoofer automatically in your Amplifier.
Now if you have some low frequency effects files, open them in Audacity.  You can open multiple instances of Audacity at the same time by going to "File > New."  Then, copy and paste them into the LFE Track at the correct point.
Audacity newbie Hint:  Audacity doesn't yet have a "Mix-Paste" function, so to avoid altering the track length as you paste in your clips, do the following: Select the LFE track by clicking on it's info area.  The info area should say something like "Mono, 48000Hz"  Then press "Delete," That will remove everything from the track.  Now copy and paste your clips into the track by clicking once with the "Selection Tool" where you want the clip to start, and selecting "Edit > Paste."  If you need to fine tune the position of the pasted clip, use the "Time Shift Tool" to move it left or right.  If you work from left to right, then you won't push clips over when you paste new ones in.
There is another way to do this by opening up new tracks, using the "Mix and Render" function, and re-ordering the tracks to maintain the L,R,C,LFE,LS,RS channel order. But that's for advanced users.

  • Video Encoding for DVD

I've been struggling to get more videos on a DVD. Since I'm not an expert on this. Most of my vides are about an hour long and are mostly PowerPoint slides and screen capture of programming demonstrations.
I just keep wondering why DVDs I get to watch TV shows can have 4-6 hours of media when I can barely get two.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    David

    Hi David,
Now we're making some progress, thank you for sharing more info. As a CC user, you are able to download and use Encore CS6. Adobe has stopped further development of Encore so there is no CC version, but you are welcome to use CS6. Here's some instructions - http://www.streamingmedia.com/Producer/Articles/Editorial/Featured-Articles/RIP-Adobe-Enco re%3B-and-How-to-Install-and-Use-Encore-CS6-with-Adobe-Premiere-Pro-CC-93119.aspx
There are some issues with your encoding settings. To begin, the Source resolution is not a standard video resolution, which would be for instance 1920x1080, 1280x720, or 720x480. Nor is it even a computer screen resolution. How did you determine the Sequence setting in Premiere to start the project? Is that the resolution of your stills or screen-recordings? I went through this myself some years ago when tasked with creating a training video, so I understand how confusing it can get! This will affect the final quality if the downscale proportions come out weird. Note that DVD is SD and what looked nice and crisp on the high-resolution computer display will look muddy on DVD, but quality loss can be minimized with good workflow practices.
Next issue, you are encoding to .mp4, when in fact DVD requires MPEG-2 for DVD. So any other format you encode to will just need to be transcoded (re-encoded) in your DVD software again. More quality loss. Also, source is 30fps but Output is 24fps.
In AME, for FORMAT, please choose "MPEG-2 DVD", and then preset "NTSC Widescreen Progressive". That should be the best bet, and using 29.97 frame rate. Looks like the program is 58 minutes, so you ought to be fine with CBR encoding at 7 or 8 setting. Touch nothing else in the encoder besides bitrate. The export should result in an .m2v video clip, and on PC the audio would be .wav, for Mac might be .aac, not sure what they use there. In any case, Encore would convert audio to Dolby. I don't know how iDVD works, sorry.
Looking at the filenames you are using, I would avoid putting periods in the name, as the file extension typically follows the period, such as .jpg, .mov, .m4p etc, this can confuse the software sometimes. Use underscores or spaces instead, such as _.
    Good luck with all this
    Jeff
