Having issues receiving mail from exchange account

I have 3 iPhone customers that are having issues with recieiving mail from their exchange accounts. The only time their emails come to their phones is when they actually has Outlook open on their computers. If Outlook is NOT open on the computers none of them not recieve emails on their phones. I have checked the settings on each of their phones and everything looks to be configured correctly. Any ideas, suggestion? Could this be a exchange server side issue?
Thanks

Different from a Blackberry, the iPhone's Mail app communicates direct with the incoming mail server and outgoing mail server for an email account - no different from accessing an email account with an email client on your computer.
Most, if not all internet service providers block the use of SMTP servers that are outside of their network or that isn't provided by the ISP being used for your internet connection at the time. Your iPhone's carrier is no exception when connected to the internet with your carrier's network.
Do you know if the account's SMTP server is authenticated with a user name and password just as the incoming mail server for the account is authenticated?

  • Ipad 2 not auto receiving mail from IMAP account

    Hi, I have an iPad 1 & 2 and an iPhone 3Gs.
I have may email accounts with different servers, Apple, Yahoo, Google & 1&1.
All auto receive mail via push, except for the 1&1 acc on the iPad2.
Checked & double checked settings are same as on iPhone & iPad 1 which both receive mail from that account without issues.
The only way I can get to see new mail from the 1&1 acc on it is to open the mail app and sit back for it to come in!
What could I possibly be doing wrong? Is anyone else having the same issue?

I am. I have a G5 and an iPad. I can get my mail from the G5, or by logging onto the server via Internet, but my mail app tells me it can't connect to the server. I've tried all the fixes on the other, similar threads... Set both fetch to manual, hard restart, reconfigure, etc. I can get it to work once after hard reboot.

  • I frequently receive a notice from Mail that it "can't connect" to my yahoo mail account, despite the fact that I can receive mail from that account. The banner appears with my coded password highlighted and asks me to choose 'cancel' or 'ok'.

I frequently receive a notice from Mail that it 'can't connect' to my Yahoo account despite the fact that I am able to receive mail from that account. It appears with the name of my Yahoo account, my password (coded), and the choice to 'cancel' or 'ok'. If I click either, the banner goes away but comes back soon. I can open Mail and see that all accounts are online. I get the banner SEVERAL time during a session - very annoying!
I have several accounts, but this only happens with Yahoo and sometimes Hotmail. Can anyone tell me how to resolve this Mail issue?
    Thanks.

I have 5 IMAP and 1 POP (Hotmail).
    The Yahoo is IMAP.

  • Problems receiving mail from exchange after upgrading to Mavericks

After upgrading to Mavericks I am having issues receiving e-mail. Activity doctor says I am connected to Exchange server but Mail.app won't donwload e-mail. I have heard this is an issue on OS X Mavericks. Any idea on how to solve this?

I solved the problem by disabling all Internet Accounts in the System Preference and re-enabling them one by one.  I found that a few settings crashed the Mail app., mainly for those Microsoft Exchange accounts.  I deleted them and set them up again then it works fine now.  No more crash when I open the Mail app.  Hope this procedure helps those with similar problems, too.

  • Cannot receive mail from .Mac account on port 143

I use my laptop at work. I used to have a 12" Powerbook G4 running OS X 10.4.3. I had no problem receiving mail from my .Mac account. Now, and all of a sudden, I can no longer receive my .Mac mail using the Mail app. The error I get is:
The server "mail.mac.com" refused to allow a connection on port 143.
I called AppleCare about this issue last night and they told me to perform the following steps:
    1. Choose .Mac in System Preferences and delete my username and password from the Account tab.
    2. Move com.apple.mail.plist and the Mail folder from my ~/Library folder to the desktop.
    3. Restart the Mail app and re-import the Mail folder from the desktop. I was told not to directly copy the Mail folder from the desktop into the ~/Library folder.
    4. Go back into .Mac in System Preferences and re-enter my account information.
According to AppleCare, things should now work. But there's a little problem with this "solution." I spoke with my network admin and he told me that incoming traffic on port 143 is blocked. That being the case, I fail to see how any of the above steps will solve my problem. It seems nothing more than an issue of trying to get my network admin to open port 143 and he seems reluctant to do that.
    Any feedback would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Richard

I've solved this problem. Well, actually, I didn't do anything other than:
    1) Rebooting my computer, then...
    2) Following the instructions at the top of the following thread to re-create my email accounts (I had two):
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=1598309#1598309
Not sure what this fixed, and how I got into this issue in the first place.
I had four or five days worth of email to come in... it took...
    ...a...
    ...long...
    ...time...
But its looking like its working.
A few things I tried, and although they didn't have an immediate effect to fix the connection refused problem, they might have kicked something to start something working again:
    1) Created a new 'test' user on the system, restarted, logged in as that user, and started Mail.app setting it up with .Mac settings (it was after this everything worked)
    2) Changed SSL ports in the accounts settings (no difference)
    3) Turned firewall on and off (no difference)
    4) Attempted to use Thunderbird to read .Mac email as IMAP mailbox (didn't work)
Hope this rather obvious help helps anyone else

  • Send and receive mail from different accounts.

I'm new to everything and I just posted this in the iPod forum, but I'm now thinking it belongs here.
How do I receive mail from my Gmail account and send from another account?
I have the incoming server as an IMAP and it works fine. The outgoing mail server is the problem. It's set up as a different username and everything, and it STILL sends it through my GMail account. I deleted the outgoing smtp gmail server with no success. What should I do?
    Thanks!

    Ernie,
You beat me to the punch... I was just about to reply with a follow-up asking if there was a way to do just that. Looks like I may need to use the separate accounts option in order to allow my to have Full Name information that is more helpful. For now, it won't be a problem because I only need 2 different addresses. If that changes in the future, however, I can see how it would be a problem.
It would be simple if I could add a comma-separated list of Full Names in the Full Name field (in the same order as the list of addresses) and have them match up.
Hmmm... might have to try that, just to see if it would work!
    Thanks again.

  • Can no longer send mail from exchange account

My send mail icon is now greyed out and I can no longer send mail. The only thing that I have done that I never do is I selected the "synchronize" option on the mailbox name after right clicking on it last night.
As far as Mail goes, I attempted to set up a MediaCom email box several days ago that never worked correctly, but I changed no settings on the exchange account and it was working great 24 hours ago. I've deleted the MediaCom email box.
Tried the usual quitting, rebooting but nothing is working, any ideas why this started and how to fix.

It is possible the Evil Starbucks empire has blocked SMTP sending as an antispam measure. You would need to log in to your email server using the smtpauth protocol. For example, Earthlink has an smtpauth.earthlink.net server for secure sending, which I was able to use sending from any public AP. Possibly T-Mobile has a similar authorized server.
But nowadays I just use Gmail, they make it easy and reliable to send from anywhere because they use a custom smtp port. Yeah, Gmail solved a multitude of problems with mobile sending.

  • Trouble Sending & Receiving Mail Through Exchange Account from Lion Mail

    Mid-2011 MacBook Air, 1.7 GHz Intel Core i5, OS X 10.7.2.
I'm having trouble sending and recieving mail through my Exchange Server Mail account under Lion 10.7.2 on my MacBook Air.  The MBA is new with a factory install of Lion.  On my MBP the server settings were as follows:
    Internal & External Server:  red001.mail.microsoftonline.com
When I allow Mail to configure the server settings based on my company eMail ID & Password it sets it up as follows:
    Internal Server:  10.32.16.62
    External Server:  autodiscover-red001.mail.microsoftonline.com
Part of the time this seems to work ok but frequently Mail cannot seem to connect to the Exchange Server to send/recieve.  The internet connection is fine and I can send/recieve from my iCloud mail account with no problems.
I recently "upgraded" from mobileMe to iCloud, I do not seem to have any of these issues on my iPad2 or iPhone4, both of which are running iOS5.
    Anyone have any ideas?

This started happening with me a week ago.   Don't know if it's connected to the latest update or not.  I'm running 10.6.7.  I can get Exchange mail (sometimes) on my iPhone 3GS, but it's stopped on my MBP and iPad2.  Neither can I log onto the company's web mail site from home ("can't reach server" error message). Weird and very frustrating.  IT guy at work says there is nothing wrong at his end.

  • Mail from Exchange account not deleting

I have Exchange 2010, SP1 using iPhone to connect to the Exchange Server everything works fine.  Except that when I'm on the workstation and delete the message from my inbox, it will never delete off the iPhone.
I get mail fine, the push is working as expected.  It just will never delete messages after they've been deleted off the workstation.  Help is appreciated.

    James R, GoDaddyGuy,
I REALLY appreciate your help as none of the online articles I found on your website had those settings.
I made the changes, but unfortunately that did not help.  Also, I was on the phone last night with GoDaddy technical support for a long time to no avail.  The tech suggested I submitted a support ticket.  I did and received back a list of articles.  I went through all of the relevant articles but they were also of no help (everything suggested was already set up correctly or had been tried already).
I'm really at my wits end on this.  With my mailbox growing on three devices, it is a bit of a nightmare for me.  I would need to delete each email on the server and on all three devices to keep from getting out of control.  Any help you can provide would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Mac Mail receiving mail from another account

I have 2 completely different e-mail accounts active in Mac Mail. Although mail is being sent to the "non" Mac mail account, the Mac Mail account receives the mail. When I move the mail to the other account, it reappears in Mac Mail.

Okay, I have had the problem of not being able to send email although I was recieving email.  After reading prior posts on this topic, I turned OFF all three of my email accounts and then turned them back on and that worked!!!!!!!
Finally!  I have spent a lot of time on this issue trying to resolve it so I hope this post will help someone who has the same issues.
I didn't have a problem with this with my original iphone, but then I dropped that phone in my coffee one morning and when I recieved the replacement, for some reason I had to manually set up each account and it wasn't as intuitive as it was the first time I set them up.  Good luck.

  • TS3276 having issues with Mail and yahoo accounts?

Mail keeps asking for my password and i go to safari enter my email and password exactly as i do in Mail and still does not work.  does anyone has any idea if I'm doing something wrong or is it Yahoo?

Wow! Oh my goodness Patrick, thank you so much man. That's a ton of informatiion to take the time to write out step by step and share with strangers.  I really, really am grateful to you.  I've been dealing with this for a month, half the month I kept changing my passwords and kept assuming I was making some mistake.  It used to work fine.  About a week ago I started looking for a solution and couldn't find one that worked.
You have changed that sir!  I'm good to go, stress level will lower when I am on my Mac, and I'm so glad to not have all these messages popping back up that I was done with!
Muchos Gracias Amigo!  Owe you one...

  • How to recover mail from deleted account?

Had some problems receiving mail from an account and the service provider suggested I recreate it and try again... In doing so I deleted the old account and have lost all of the messages in the old inbox and sent mail box. I cannot find anywhere where these might have been put and expect that they have disappeared but does anyone have any tips for finding and restoring them?
    G5 Mac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   Mail 2.1

It all depends on the type of account and how it was configured. For IMAP-type accounts, mail is stored on the server, and setting up the account again is all that’s needed to regain access to your mail.
If you deleted a POP account, however, then all your mail stored locally in that account’s mailboxes has certainly been wiped out, not just moved somewhere, and you were warned that this would happen by the following alert:
    Remove Account
Are you sure you want to remove the <AccountType> account "<AccountName>"?
This will permanently delete the account setup information, mailboxes, and messages from your computer. Messages stored on the mail server will not be affected.
If the POP account was configured to leave mail on the server for some time instead of removing it right away when downloaded, incoming mail that’s still on the server can be re-downloaded by setting up the account again, just like for IMAP accounts, but keep in mind that this would only work for received (i.e. not sent) mail that has not yet been removed from the server.
If the messages are not on the server, and you don’t have a backup, your only option in the case of Mail 2.x is to try to salvage as many deleted *.emlx files as possible with a data recovery tool such as Data Rescue II, TechTool Pro, or FileSalvage (the files to be recovered would be different in the case of Mail 1.x). Of these, the only one I know for sure that can recover deleted *.emlx files is FileSalvage. Stop using your computer right now if you want to try that, as anything you do with the computer may cause the deleted files to be overwritten.

  • Mac Mail not receiving mail from certain sender

I'm having trouble receiving mail from a certain sender. I verified that they have my correct email address and I don't think it's getting filtered as junk because my junk mail folder is empty. Is there anything else that could be causing this? Any help would be appreciated.

  • Can you recover mail from deleted account?

Using Mail 2.0.5, I kept getting a message that port 25 was blocked, and couldn't receive mail from that account. I didn't think to check .mac for solution, but created a new mail account under a different name, with the same settings. When it worked, I deleted the original account...but didn't realize I'd lose all the mail associated with it in my mail program. Thought it would be stored someplace, but I can't find it anywhere. Is there any way to recover mail from a deleted Mail account?

Never did find a solution to this. However because we are using IMAP accounts most of the mail was cached on the client Macs. So I offlined them, loaded Mail, copied all the mail into local mailboxes, recreated the users, went online and copied the mail back into the new hierarchy.
Still can't believe I did such a daft thing!
