Having issues with IP Phones and the RV042 Router

We have recently purchased Ring Central IP Phones and are having audio issues. We have a RV042 router with two WAN connections. We called Ring Central Tech support and were told that IP Phones will not work with the RV042 while loading balancing is enabled. Has anyone ever successfully setup IP Phones with a RV042 router while having loading balancing enabled? I configured the port range that the IP Phone use to be bound to WAN 1 but still having problems. Thanks in advance.

The "solution" is probably to increase your knowledge. You've done good things. Perhaps this article will educate you a bit more about location services.
Basically, they can be very useful, but can cause a lot of iPhone use. A major example is "Remind me to ... when I leave home."

Yes it is NOT your internet service. It is Apples OSX. It seems to be happening to older computers trying to run the newer OSX ( Mavericks and newer). I have a 2009 iMac I bought with Leopard installed, I upgraded to Snow leopard 10.6.8 and my computer was running flawlessly. I upgraded to Mountain Lion and I noticed my computer running slower... kind of annoying having to wait longer for everything (start up, browsers opening up, apps opening up, mail opening up and so on) Mavericks came out for free and I was excited to get out of this issue. Well, everything went from bad to terrible! Fast user switching had a glitch with desktop picture resetting to the wave, mail rules didn't work properly and I kept getting kicked off the internet (Absolutely NOTHING wrong with my internet). No one could figure out what was going on or how to fix it, even senior Apple tech's! After 3-4 months of searching, troubleshooting and waiting for a fix, I looked at my Mac Pro running Tiger 10.4.11 with no issues what so ever... that is when I made an executive decision. GO BACK TO SNOW LEOPARD! Since May 2014 I have been running 10.6.8 on my 2009 iMac and it has been smoking fast with NO issues what so ever, especially since I maxed out my memory for Mavericks. So to sum it up: some people might get lucky with old machines running new operating systems, but for the most part, it seems older processors can't keep up with the new sophisticated operating systems. Your iBookG4 is still a pretty awesome Mac. Like already said, it has the power to run Leopard, but it depends if you have an internal DVD drive.
Then I suppose you have to add up the cost of the OS, perhaps another 512MB RAM, iLife 08 and replacements for any favourite apps that you currently use (Leopard breaks a lot of stuff, but Intel breaks even more). Compare it to the cost of a new MacBook, which wil have all of that included and be 3-4x faster too.
It also depends on what you want to achieve with your iBook. My PMG4 still cuts it today, I still use it in preference to my new Mac Pro, It's about the same age as your iBook, and I'll only stop using it when it becomes "painfully" slow. My 1 year old son currently uses the Mac Pro (parts for a Mac Pro are easier to replace than those for a PMG4).
I think your choice is simple, if you can a cheap copy of Tiger, use that, it'll get your iPod Touch up and running. It came in DVD and 4 CD version (by request).
Leopard will work for you too but a lot of the best eye-candy requires quite a meaty graphics card and you may need a RAM upgrade and replacement software - OS9 Classic is not supported in Leopard.

I mean that I sent an email to a contact of mine yesterday. His reply contained a stream of very old emails I had received in 2009 from a totally different contact all together !! The reply email was in my inbox as being from the original person I sent the email to. This is starting to happen more regularly now , so is a problem !

Having issues with MacBook Pro and Verizon Mobile Hotspot

Hey everyone,
I bought a MacBook Pro with the Lion OS. I recently switched to Verizon and got an HTC Thunderbolt so I could use it as a hotspot at home and when I travel.
The problem I am having is when I turn the Mobile Hotspot on is, it will connect and stay connected for anywhere from 2 to 10 minutes and then it will work intermittently after that until I turn it off. I've talked to Verizon Tech Support probably 30 times in the last 3 months about the issue. They sent me another SIM card and a new Thunderbolt at first. The issue did not go away, so they offered me a Samsung Charge. Got it and it did the same thing. So I told them to send me back a Thunderbolt, because its a better phone and the Charge was too glitchy.
I've been to the Apple Store twice now and they dont know why its happening either. The only thing that has remained constant throughout this whole troubleshooting process has been my MacBook Pro. My questions are: Is anyone else experiencing this type of behavior? and What could possibly be causing this issue?
Im a new Mac user, so Im not sure how to troubleshoot issues like this, or if there are compatibility issues Im not aware of.

Did this ever get resolved for you? I have the exact same problem except I'm running Snow Leopard on a MacBook and my phone is a Droid Incredible 2. When I use the hopstpot from a ThinkPad running Windows 7 or a System76 netbook running Linux Mint it works perfectly. But when I try to use my MacBook it connects for, like you said, anywhere between 3-10 minutes and then connection is intermittent and super slow. I haven't gone through the motions of contacting Verizon yet...

Having issues with PC gaming and my Linksys AC1900 router! (What settings should I be using?)

Well I recently purchased a linksys AC1900 for a better/faster connection with my internet. Sadly, I have been having issues with online gaming. I am attempting to play a blizzard game (Diablo 3) but its not letting my connect. I did a direct wired connection and it worked just perfect. However, I dont want to play in my garage...lol. Does anyone have any ideas what settings I should be using? It lets me connect to battlenet but when my character loads into the world I get disconnected. I tried opening ports, shutting off uPnP, and various other things. Is the the router or is it me? Someone please help!

I got confused with your response. If you are still having the same challenge, make sure you have enough speed to play any online game. You may also try to reboot your PC and the router. If the result is the same, check if the firmware is up to date. You may try to manually update it on the Linksys Smart WiFi page. Here's how. Once accomplished, reset, reboot, and reconfigure the router. I hope this helps!

I Pad Air, I OS 8, just download several days. having issues with; screen reerts to a previous screen without input. 2 On Google Earth cannot get street view in "some instances", Okay on regular computer. 3. Unable to clear off screen, which causes problems trying to get to diferent website.

Whenever I say I "Rebooted" I always did a shut down/start up. Not a restart.
What you said works as a temporary fix, but I don't want to keep doing it because:
1) The drive makes a noise when the computer is shut down indicating the drive was disconnected improperly.
2) I don't want to shut my computer off after every use, nor do I only want to back up my computer once every few days.

Anyone having trouble with this phone and their in car bluetooth? Calls dropping not recognizing the device. Had the car bluetooth reset at dealer. They said it is a common problem with the iPhone?

Bluetooth in car is not recognizing my device and when it does it will only stay connected about 5 minutes. Blue tooth has been reset at the dealer. They said it is very common with the iPhone? The car is a 2014 Toyota Highlander. This is very very frustrating as I have a 45 minute commute to work and do not want to have to hold my phone.... Thank you for any help.

Wow you would think the newer car is just an updated version of what your husbands has.
I wonder if your husbands car was updated to the same connect system if his would not connect?

Anyone having issues with InDesign (CS5) and Suitcase Fusion 3 (Mac)?

I've run into a problem that I think might be caused by Suitcase Fusion 3 [Version 14.2.0 (319)], but I'm wondering if anyone here is having any issues with InDesign and Suitcase Fusion like I am?
Just about every time I launch an InDesign document or an Illustrator document (don't seem to have the issue in Photoshop, strangely enough) it pretty much crashes to the point where it's a force quit. Before anyone asks the question, this is what I've done - I've reformatted my hard disk (even writing 0s!), done a clean install of Lion (10.7.3), clean install of Creative Suite 5 (and updates), clean install of Suitcase (and updates)...you get the idea. I'm still ending up with crashing just about every time I open a document in these two apps.
As an experiment I downloaded a (fully functioning) trial version of FontAgent Pro (which I didn't like, btw) and didn't encounter any crashing at all in either application.
I've opened a ticket with Adobe to see if they have any details as to whether this is a known conflict or whatever (though I don't hold much hope for getting help from them since it's looking more like a Suitcase issue than a Creative Suite one).
Does anybody have any suggestions as to what I can do to try and resolve this?
I'm in the middle of producing two magazines and I really really don't need this! Lol

Thanks for the info. As you said, if this is happening when you have only manually activated fonts, then the auto-activation isn't coming into play which does lead me to think it is related to the plug-in generally and maybe the sleep issue, which you say you definitely have. So I've added you to the sleep issue tracking.
If you find yourself coming back from putting the computer to sleep and the apps with Suitcase plugins have hung, do this:
1)      Go to your spotlight and type in "activity"
2)      Launch "Activity Monitor"
3)      Highlight the name of the adobe/quark application that is hanging by clicking it.
4)      Click the "Sample Process" button at the top of the screen.
5)      Click the "Save" button.
6)      Click the "Save" button again and save the file to your desktop.
7)      This will generate a file such as " Sample of Adobe Illustrator CS5.txt"
8)      Repeat this process with any other application that is hanging.
9)      Highlight the "FMCore" process by clicking it.
10) Click the "Sample Process" button at the top of the screen.
11) Click the "Save" button.
12) Click the "Save" button again and save the file to your desktop.
13) This will generate a file named " Sample of FMCore.txt"
14) Place these files along with the ".Plugins.txt" files created earlier into a new folder called "Plugins"
15) Right click (control+click) to compress into a .zip file.
Please attach this zip in reply to this mail.
When we are sure of a fix, we'll get back to you. In the meantime here are some workarounds:
Option 1:
1)      Back up your font sets by dragging them to the desktop
2)      Remove SF3 v14.2 by following the instructions here:

3)      Download and re-install Suitcase Fusion 3 (version 14.0.6) from:

4)      Are there fonts and font sets in your old font vault you would like to recover?
If NO :
a)      Open SF3
b)      Simply drag and drop your original fonts into the SF3 "Font Library". This will copy the fonts into a new font vault.
If YES : Restore your old fontvault from the backup the removal tool created
a)      If you choose "Y" to KEEP your font vault earlier when you ran the removal script, on your desktop you will find a folder called "Extensis-Backup-today's date" that contains a backup of your previous suitcase fusion 3 fontvault.
b)      Move your old font vault from the "Extensis-Backup-today's date" folder on your desktop into this folder:
/Users/[your username]/Library/Extensis/Suitcase Fusion/Suitcase Fusion.fontvault
c)       Launch SF3 from your dock. you should now see all your old fonts and font sets.
Option 2:
Remove our auto-activation plugins and activate your fonts manually in SF3 and/or add your adobe/quark apps to the SF3 > Preferences > General > Global Auto-Activation Options list. here's how:
1)      In SF3: choose Suitcase Fusion 3 > Manage Plugins
2)      Uncheck the boxes for adobe/quark apps; this will remove our auto-activation plugins
3)      Choose SF3 > Preferences > General
4)      Under "Global Auto-Activation Options", press the "+" button to add your adobe/quark apps
Please note that "global auto-activation" is less accurate than our plugin-based auto-activation. Double check your font usage in your design app to confirm the correct font was loaded after opening a document.

Having issue with Airport Express and Itunes - Please Help

Ok, I am having a very odd issue with my wireless music network all of a sudden, and it's driving me nuts. I have searched the forum and I don't get the sense that anyone else is having this issue.
My house consists of multiple machines, but I have my music on two computers - my G5 desktop and a Mac Mini. I am in the process of encoding all of my CDs to Apple Lossless for storage on the G5, and access of this library provided to all machines on the network (6 total including the G5).
I have 2 airport express units in the house, each connected to a stereo. I have been using this setup for about a year or so, with no problems.
Suddenly now, when playing music wirelessly, the music (and I know this is going to sound weird) has intermittent popping, will skip alot (like a CD player skips), and seems to almost speed up during the skipping. It is SO weird, and I have no clue how to fix it.
I am mainly confused as to where the issue could be coming from. Is it the airport network? Is something wrong with Itunes? Something wrong with the machines? Interference in the home? B/c I have not had this issue before, I am not sure how to even troubleshoot it. I do know that until about a month ago, I had none of these issues.
Within the last 30 days, the only changes that I made were that 1) I have been encoding files to Apple Lossless (but I had some of these before with no streaming issues), 2) I purchased a Mac Mini (not sure what impact this would have), and I upgraded to the latest Itunes.
Any thoughts you can provide for me are very appreciated. ***** to finally be setting up this music server and now start having wireless music issues. Thank you in advance for your help.

I'm also suffering from skipping/sped up music, only when streaming certain internet radio stations to my Express (for example, friskyRadio in the electronica section). Mine's setup not to distribute IP addresses, if that's relevant.
Other than installing iTunes version 7 (now at 7.0.1) nothing has changed on my network, or on my computer.

LPX issues with LR, BFD, and the GUI looks like Garageband now...

I downloaded LPX a few days ago. Everything worked fine except BFD Eco, which is what I use almost exclusively for drum samples (primarily demo work at this stage).
I also bought an iPad Air per rave reviews of the LR app. Got that setup, and it worked, but as with other users on the forum here, it started to crash on me within moments of turning it on and pairing it with LPX. So I searched the forums and found someone who was advised to delete the .plist files under ~/Library/Preferences, then restart the machine. They were also advised to delete any old .plist files from a previous version of Logic, which I also did.
[Back story: I bought the AC7 Core app a couple years ago to try and perform transport functions from my iPhone. This app "tricks" logic into thinking it's a Mackie interface, so I figure that somewhere during the install, Logic got really confused about my using a Mackie controller which is interfering with my use of the iPad LR app. Other people are having the same issue... seems like a solid bet, right?]
So I deleted the following files:
com.apple.logic10.plist
com.apple.logic.pro.cs
com.apple.logic.pro.plist
And now LPX looks like Garageband. Check it out:
It has those crappy wood panel bars on the left and right, I don't have access to the mix window, I can only see channel strip plugins by using the inspector... this is weird! Which file did I delete that could have caused this? Or am I missing something else?
Additionally, LPX prompted me to download additional Drummer kits AFTER I went through the whole "download additional content" process, telling it to DL anything I didn't already have.
This was all a wild goose chase to reduce latency from my iPad Air to LPX. It can automate faders and sends fine, but playing drum pads and keyboard lines has a noticeable delay (about 50-100ms). So if anyone is willing to help fix the GUI, it would also be super nice if you could give me some pointers on reducing latency & improving stability with the LR.
In case anyone's interested, BFD Eco is still not functioning properly. Bought it in 2011 and apparently I need the 64-bit version. Purchased from fxpansion and now my machine can't find the install script file to actually upgrade my license. eesh.

Sorry, Swanarva, It didn't work as it was supposed to. I downloaded, saved file, clicked the download to open, clicked 'run' then got an error message that it couldn't find the file(!) . No idea what happened or why. Should I have uninstalled Firefox first, then downloaded Firefox 8 using another browser or downloaded, uninstalled Firefox 09 beta then tried installing Firefox 8?
At this rate, IE is looking good, despite its shortcomings.

Having issues with Snow Leopard and wireless

I've read the many threads and articles on issues with SL and dropping wireless, but still can't resolve the issue. Can anyone point me to some new articles on the issue?
I'm able to get online no problem with no drops with my iphone, I have the following:
linksys cisco wrt54G2 wireless router
Mackbook white intel
The issue is that I'm dropping the ISP/Internet/Server in Network Diagnostics every 5-10 minutes and have to sign on again. I've tried a few things to no avail.

I just received my first Macbook yesterday and have been having the exact same problem as you with internet connection. This morning I browsed Apple´s support website and found an article that addresses wireless connection and I really think it may help. I haven´t tried it yet because I don´t have my MBP here with me but it´s so simple I believe you should give it a try!

Joining the network of some third-party wireless access points requires a little special treatment when the network is protected by Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP), an older wireless security protocol.
Products Affected
AirPort Express Base Station
Resolution
First be sure that the third-party access point is not restricting clients based on MAC addresses (sometimes called an access control list), and be sure that the base station has the latest version of firmware that's available from the manufacturer's website.
Next, beware that WEP passwords can take either a plain language or hexadecimal form, as described in joining an encrypted wireless network. You might be able to avoid password issues entirely by changing the password of the WEP-protected network to a better format.
Using that information, you should try connecting an AirPort-enabled computer to the WEP network to verify what will be required. If you have to enter a hexadecimal value to get the computer on the network, the same will be true for AirPort Express.
Confirm that you are running Mac OS X 10.4 or later or you have the AirPort 4.0.1 update installed. Open AirPort Utility, and go through the steps to set up AirPort Express to join your existing network. When you get to the page where you select the wireless network the AirPort Express is to join, you will see two password entry fields. If a hexadecimal password was required to get your AirPort-enabled computer on the network, use the same hex code here, but add a "$" in front of it.
So if your hex value is "6170706c65", you would enter "$6170706c65".
Finish the steps in the Assistant. Once the AirPort Express has had a minute or so to restart, it should join the network and once it finishes rebooting (allow up to a minute) it should join the existing wireless network, as indicated by its status light.
