Having issues with profile manager on 10.9 loosing users/device assignments.
I'm having issues with profile manager on 10.9 loosing users/device assignments. Luckly I only have arround 70 devices added so far. The first time it happened I thought it was just a freak thing, but it has just happened again. What I find weird is nothing on the server was changed, no devices added. So when this happens my users phones lose access to email, because I'm using variables, which rely on the user being assigned to the device. Anyone know how to fix this, and if not. Does anyone know how to backup and restore just profile manager in 10.9. Thanks.
I enabled all users in my AD "Domain Users" group access to "Profile Manager". I had also initially enabled "Profile Manager" access for a few individual users. Those users did not loss the device assignments. I'm not absolutely sure why/if allowing access for a group is causing this issue. Enabling access for each person would be very time consuming.... Maybe adding access to the individual users is importing that user into OD?

Having issues with sending attachments via iMail to PC users
Having issues with sending attachments via iMail to PC users. Either they do not see all the attachments or the attachment comes across blank. Is there any suggested ways to resolve this?
You can also use Dropbox. 2GB free. Put files in the Public folder and you can send them links of the files instead.
You can use my referral link http://db.tt/MXNpy62 to create an account. -
I'm currently having issues with workgroup manager on 10.6 OS X Server
Some of the preferences managed on the server are not getting pushed out to client machines. When dock settings are set and managed as always, only some are being pushed through to 10.6.8 and some 10.7 clients. I have checked the version of workgroup manager on both server and client to make sure that they are the same. Is there a way that workgroup manager can be reinstalled on the server?. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Anyone else having issues with third party routers...
Last week I started having issues with my Asus RT-N66U where certain wireless devices e.g. PS3, Xbox 360, Laptop, etc. have issues connecting to the internet (the PS3 reporting a DNS issue) even after I replaced it with a second rt-n66u.
I then tried using the HH3 I got with BT and have none of these problems.
Back on the Asus I tried a manual DNS (BTs 62.6.40.178 and 62.6.40.162) but these are having issues as well although strangely it will work fine if I use it purely as a wireless access point via the HH3 (With HH3's internal wifi disabled), right now I'm testing it again with Google's DNS but I want to know, is anyone else having any issues? Is your firmware up to date? http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=RT-N66U+%28VER.B1%29&os=8

Back up all data, if you haven't already done so.
Select ▹ Software Update to install the latest Java update (if Java is already installed) or the Flashback malware removal tool (if Java is not installed under Lion), as well as any other available updates. Installing either of those items should clear the infection in most cases. You must update to the latest version of Mac OS X 10.6 or 10.7 before you can install the Java update.
The removal tool runs automatically in the background and is then deleted. Don’t look for something to click. If the malware is removed, you’ll be notified.

I am having issue with iphone 5 bluetooth , not able to connect honda CRV
I am having issue with iphone 5 bluetooth , not able to connect to my honda CRV
Don't know if you could consider this an Apple issue. I know you are probably frustrated, and I am not defending Apple here, just saying that the iPhone does not update to support individual automobiles, the automobile manufactures update to support the Bluetooth profiles. The iPhone has the latest Bluetooth stack and supports a number of things. Problems generally revolve around the manufacturer not supporting the lastest Bluetooth version and have to update their systems. Check with Honda, they are probably aware of this, and if you search the forum, you will find a number of posts regarding the CR-V.

I just picked up my iphone 5 yesterday and I am having issues with wifi.
When I tried wifi for the first time I selected my home network and entered in the password for the network and found out the following issues:
1) if you turn off wifi or turn on airplane mode or off, and then turn on wifi again - the phone does not remember the network's password and I have to re-enter it evey time plus manually select it
2) when wifi is on, not automatically detected nor does it select my network on its own have to manually go in and select a network
Help! Do I need to call Apple? Anyone else getting this?I just managed to figure out the problem here. What you have to do is manually add the network by selecting "Other..." and filling in the information instead of selecting the item from the list of networks.

I purchased a 4th generation click wheel Ipod from one of my friends a few months ago.. it worked fine, up until a few weeks ago. When I try to turn the ipod on, it goes to a screen with a frowning ipod and a link to www.apple.com/support/ipod. I tried restarting my ipod, but the ipod updater doesn't detect it. I've tried everything, but nothing I read on the apple support page has helped. If anyone knows how to fix this, I would greatly appreciate any help.
Hello,
If a sad iPod icon or an exclamation point and folder icon appears on your iPod’s screen, or with sounds of clicking or HD whirring, it is usually the sign of a hard drive problem and you have the power to do something about it now. Your silver bullet of resolving your iPod issue – is to restore your iPod to factory settings.
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60983
If you're having trouble, try these steps at different levels one at a time until the issue is resolved. These steps will often whip your iPod back into shape.
Make sure you do all the following “TRYs”
A. Try to wait 30 minutes while iPod is charging.
B. Try another FireWire or USB through Dock Connector cable.
C. Try another FireWire or USB port on your computer .
D. Try to disconnect all devices from your computer's FireWire and USB ports.
E. Try to download and install the latest version of iPod software and iTunes
http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
F. Try these five steps (known as the five Rs) and it would conquer most iPod issues.
http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/
G. Try to put the iPod into Disk Mode if it fails to appear on the desktop
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651
If none of these steps address the issue, you may need to go to Intermediate level listed below in logical order. Check from the top of the lists to see if that is what keeping iPod from appearing on your computer in order for doing the Restore.
Intermediate Level
A. Try to connect your iPod with another computer with the iPod updater pre-installed.
B. Still can’t see your iPod, put it in Disk Mode and connect with a computer, instead of doing a Restore on iPod Updater. Go and format the iPod instead.
For Mac computer
1. Open the disk utility, hope your iPod appears there (left hand side), highlight it
2. Go to Tab “Partition”, click either “Delete” or “Partition”, if fails, skip this step and go to 3
3. Go to Tab “Erase” , choose Volume Format as “MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and click Erase, again if fails, skip it and go to 4
4. Same as step 3, but open the “Security Options....” and choose “Zero Out Data” before click Erase. It will take 1 to 2 hours to complete.
5. Eject your iPod and do a Reset
6. Open the iPod Updater and click “Restore”
For Window computer
Go to folder “My Computer”
Hope you can see your iPod there and right click on the iPod
Choose “Format”. Ensure the settings are at “Default” and that “Quick Format” is not checked
Now select “Format”
Eject your iPod and do a Reset
Open the iPod Updater and click “Restore”
In case you do not manage to do a “Format” on a window computer, try to use some 3rd party disk utility software, e.g.“Partition Magic”.
C. Windows users having trouble with their iPods should locate a Mac user. In many cases when an iPod won't show up on a PC that it will show up on the Mac. Then it can be restored. When the PC user returns to his computer the iPod will be recognized by the PC, reformatted for the PC, and usable again. By the way, it works in reverse too. A Mac user often can get his iPod back by connecting it to a PC and restoring it.
Tips
a. It does not matter whether the format is completed or not, the key is to erase (or partly) the corrupted firmware files on the Hard Drive of the iPod. After that, when the iPod re-connected with a computer, it will be recognized as an fresh external hard drive, it will show up on the iPod updater.
b. It is not a difficult issue for a Mac user to find a window base computer, for a PC user, if they can’t find any Mac user, they can go to a nearest Apple Shop for a favor.
c. You may need to switch around the PC and Mac, try to do several attempts between “Format” and “Restore”
Advance Level
A. Diagnostic mode solution
If you have tried trouble shooting your iPod to no avail after all the steps above, chances are your iPod has a hardware problem. The iPod's built-in Diagnostic Mode is a quick and easy way to determine if you have a "bad" iPod.
You need to restart your iPod before putting it into Diagnostic Mode. Check that your hold switch is off by sliding the switch away from the headphone jack. Toggle it on and off to be safe.
Press and hold the following combination of buttons simultaneously for approximately 10 seconds to reset the iPod.
iPod 1G to 3G: "Menu" and "Play/Pause"
iPod 4G+ (includes Photo, Nano, Video, and Mini): "Menu" and "Select"
The Apple logo will appear and you should feel the hard drive spinning up. Press and hold the following sequence of buttons:
iPod 1G to 3G: "REW", "FFW" and "Select"
iPod 4G+ (includes Photo, Nano, Video, and Mini): "Back" and "Select"
You will hear an audible chirp sound (3G models and higher) and the Apple logo should appear backwards. You are now in Diagnostic Mode. Navigate the list of tests using "REW" and "FFW". The scroll wheel will not function while in diagnostic mode. For further details on Diagnostic mode can be found at http://www.methodshop.com/mp3/ipodsupport/diagnosticmode/
Try to do the 5in1, HDD R/W and HDD scan tests. Some successful cases have been reported after the running the few tests under the Diagnostic mode. In case it does not work in your case, and the scan tests reports show some errors then it proves your iPod has a hardware problem and it needs a repairing service.
B. Format your iPod with a start disk
I have not tried this solution myself, I heard that there were few successful cases that the users managed to get their iPod (you must put your iPod in disk mode before connecting with a computer) mounted by the computer, which was booted by a system startup disk. For Mac, you can use the Disk Utility (on the Tiger OS system disk), for PC user, you can use the window OS system disk. Try to find a way to reformat your iPod, again it does not matter which format (FAT32, NTFS or HFS+) you choose, the key is to erase the corrupted system files on the iPod. Then eject your iPod and do a Reset to switch out from Disk Mode. Reboot your computer at the normal way, connect your iPod back with it, open the iPod updater, and hopefully your iPod will appear there for the Restore.
If none of these steps address the issue, your iPod may need to be repaired.
Consider setting up a mail-in repair for your iPod http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/
Or visit your local Apple Retail Store http://www.apple.com/retail/
In case your iPod is no longer covered by the warranty and you want to find a second repairing company, you can try iPodResQ at your own risk
http://www.ipodresq.com/index.php
Just in case that you are at the following situation
Your iPod warranty is expired
You don’t want to pay any service charges
You are prepared to buy a new one
You can’t accept the re-sell value of your broken iPod
Rather than leave your iPod as paper-weight or throw it away.
You can try the following, but again, only do it as your last resort and at your own risk.
Warning ! – It may or may not manage to solve your problem, and with a risk that you may further damage your iPod, which end up as an expensive paper weight or you need to pay more higher repairing cost. Therefore, please re-consider again whether you want to try the next level
Last Resort Level
1. . Disconnecting the Hard Drive and battery inside the iPod – Warning !! Your iPod warranty will be waived once you open the iPod.
In Hong Kong there are some electronic shops offering an iPod service for Sad iPod, the first thing they do is to open up the iPod’s case and disconnecting the battery and the Hard Drive from the main board of the iPod. Wait for 5-10 minutes and reconnecting them back. The reason behind which I can think of is to do a fully reset of a processor of the iPod. In case you want do it itself and you believe that you are good on fixing the electronics devices and have experience to deal with small bits of electronic parts, then you can read the following of how to open the iPod case for battery replacement (with pictures)
http://www.kokopellimusic.us/KM_instructions.htm
Have I tried this myself? No, I am afraid to do it myself as I am squeamish about tinkering inside electronic devices, I have few experiences that either I broke the parts (which are normally tiny or fragile) or failed to put the parts back to the main case. Therefore, I agree with suggestion to have it fixed by a Pro.

Having issues with Adobe Flash player hanging the browser
Having issues with Adobe Flash player hanging the browser.
WIN 7 enterprise 32 bit / Firefox 19.0.2 /
Internal company website keeps giving attached screen shot error, and hangs the browser when error pops up.
Steps taken:
Uninstalled Adobe Flash player with the file “uninstall_flash_player.exe”
Deleted provided directory in instructions
"Copy and paste the following and click OK.
C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash
Delete all the files in this folder."
Rebooted PC and reinstalled the flash player directly from “http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html”
Re launched company website and received same error.
Repeated above steps as well as uninstalled Firefox browser. Even went so far as to remove all profile information to start fresh from all profiles on the laptop with the same results.
Note: The web page will work without the flash player plugin, and my page doesn’t hang the browser. Required to open page in FireFox per company policy.I'm sorry you're encountering this. Could you paste a few of the most recent report ID links displayed when you go to "about:crashes" in the Firefox address bar?
As for workarounds, the first thing I'd suggest is trying our 11.7 labs release which you can get here: http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer.html
If that doesn't help, please try the troubleshooting steps outlined in this FAQ:
How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?
In particular, I'd recommend temporarily disabling protected mode (for troubleshooting purposes only) to see if that addresses the issue.
Thanks,

Having issues with my MacBook. Even when the internet is disconnected, apps are still closing and opening on their own. I sometimes do not have control over my cursor.....any suggestions?
There are several possible causes for this issue. Please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried until it's resolved. Some may not be apply in your case.
1. Follow the instructions in this support article, and also this one, if applicable. A damaged or defective AC adapter could be the cause, even if it's the right kind.
2. Open the Bluetooth preference pane in System Preferences and delete all pointing devices other than the trackpad, if applicable. Disconnect any USB pointing devices. By a "pointing device," I mean a peripheral that moves the cursor, such as a trackpad, mouse, trackball, or graphics tablet. A plain keyboard is not a pointing device.
3. Start up in safe mode and test, preferably without launching any third-party applications. If you don't have the problem in safe mode, but it comes back when you restart as usual, stop here and post your results. Do the same if you can't start in safe mode. If there was no difference in safe mode, go on to the next step.
4. Reset the System Management Controller.
5. If you're using a Bluetooth trackpad, investigate potential sources of interference, including USB 3 devices.
6. A swollen battery in a portable computer can impinge on the trackpad from below and cause erratic behavior. If you have trouble clicking the trackpad, this is likely the reason. The battery must be replaced without delay.
7. Press down all four corners of the trackpad at once and release. If there's any effect, it's likely to be temporary, and the unit needs to be serviced or replaced.
8. There's a report that a (possibly defective) Thunderbolt Ethernet adapter can cause the built-in trackpad of a MacBook to behave erratically. If you're using such an adapter, disconnect it and test.
9. There's also a report of erratic cursor movements caused by an external display that was connected but not turned on.
10. If none of the above applies, or if you have another reason to think that your computer is being remotely controlled, remove it from the network by turning off Wi-Fi (or your Wi-Fi access point), disconnecting from a Bluetooth network link, and unplugging the Ethernet cable or USB modem, whichever is applicable. If the cursor movements stop at once, you should suspect an intrusion.
11. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine and/or external trackpad tested. -
Push profile with profile manager to two users on one mac
I have been testing profile manager today. Very interesting setup.
Unfortunately I ran into one problem:
I have a profile for a group setup as a push profile.
Two users of the group use the same mac.
So I logged in as the first user, browsed to .../mydevices and installed the trust profile. Then I clicked enroll to enroll the Mac.
Then I did the same with the second user on the same Mac.
So far so good.
When I log in again as the first user, the Mac isn't enrolled anymore. Strange but I went on.
I made a change to the profile with Profile Manager on the server. I saved the settings and checked Active Tasks to see wether it pushed the settings.
Displayed: Push Settings 1 of 2 in progress; 1 succeeded. first user sending, second user succeeded.
Then I enrolled the mac with the first user again. Then the task completes completely. But when I make a change to the profile again and push the new profile, the same problem occurs: the user last enrolled the mac gets the updated profile. The other user will not get the update.
Hopefully this wil be fixed in a next update.
Anyone got this working the right way / workaround?Do not use a network or local user to "enroll" a device. Create a Enrolment profile in profile manager I have found that the way you are doing this will work fine. However I am having the problem that now that I have a OD with 350+ users with 100+ devices profile manager cannot keep up and cannot push the settings fast enough or just hangs on user profiles but not device profiles......

Using TACACS+ auth from ACS 5.1.0.44 to ACE. Having Issues with Shell (Exec)
So I am trying to get TACACS+ auth to work for my ACE.
The command string that I have on the ACE is as follows:
tacacs-server host 172.16.101.4 key 7 XXXYYYZZZ timeout 15
aaa group server tacacs+ tacacs+
server 172.16.101.4
aaa authentication login default group tacacs+ local
aaa authentication login console local
aaa accounting default group tacacs+ local
But to finish getting this enabled I need to create some sort of shell (exec) string in the ACS that tells the ACE what permission level to allocate.
I do not know how to do this on the ACS 5.1.0.44.
Anyone know?
TAC made a good suggestion but the command path doesn't seem to line up with my version of ACS.
Thanks for your reply. About this question:
shell:<Context>*<Role> <Domain>
What I meant is that you need to check the following couple of things on
your ACS server in order to have AAA Tacacs users to login into the
ACE over the context with superuser ritghts.
Group setup ‑> users ‑> TACACS + Settings ‑> enable Shell(exec)
‑> enable Custom attributes ‑> right below this part you need to
use the following sintax to link the ACE context that this user
has access to.
For example:
shell:<Context>*<Role> <Domain>
shell:Admin*Admin default‑domain
Where this user will have access to the Admin context with the role
admin using the 'default‑domain'Wilfred,
What you will have to do on your version of ACS is modify the shell profile that your admins are hitting for other IOS devices or you can create another shell profile under Policy Elements -> Device Administration ->
Once you get into this shell profile select the Custom Attributes tab and put in the following fields close to the bottom of the screen, from the example you provided type shell:Admin for the attribute field and then default-domain for the value field, and make sure you select this requirement as optional, if you select mandatory and other IOS devices use this same shell profile you will force this av pair to these devices also which will impact the priv levels that then need for authentication.
After you add this attribute, save your changes and then test, also make sure that your Aceess Policy is calling this shell profile under the authorization profile for default device admin.

Issues With Football Manager Live
Over the last few days I have had issues with Football Manager Live for which I have played for a year with no issues. At around 7 pm the game just died, yet I have no trouble playing any other online games that require more bandwidth. I read the FML forums and there are lots of people saying they have the same issues with BT. Can anyone please provide a solution? Many thanks
Hi James,
Thanks for the post and welcome to the forum.
Have you been able to play Football Manager online again? There could be a number of reasons for the game drop out but I think broadband speed would be a good place to start.
Please run a speed test via www.speedtester.bt.com and post your results here, this will give us a clear picture of how your connection is running and if there are any issues. At the very least we can rule out broadband speed being the cause.
Cheers
Sean

Push config files made in Server app with Profile manager
As I understand the manual you can distribuate configuration files with Profile manager.
A bit confused now when I want to use Profile manager to distribuate a configuration file I´ve made in Server app.
I saved a VPN configuration file and want to distribuate it with Profile manager but how do I import or add that file into the settings pane for my devices in profile manager?Hi,
I have the same issue, very frustrating. Using a Win 2003 AD and 10.8.2 server and clients. If i use WGM I can see all users and groups correctly, but Server.app and Profile Manager does not show them correct.
Strange that we see issues like this since Profile Manager has been around for a while, really interested to hear other peoples experiences.
PS I see a similar thing here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4417085?start=0&tstart=0
