Having my Mail account update when I make changes on Gmail

I use mostly my Gmail account by signing in the Gmail web page. I have set up so my Gmail account is synced with my Mail account on my Mac. But when I delete messages when I am on the Gmail page, it doesn't delete the same emails in the same account that is set up with Mail.
So when I do use Mail, I have a ton of unread emails that I have already read and deleted from Gmail.
How do I sync them so my Mail account will update when I delete emails from the Gmail web page?

your gmail is probably set up as POP in Mail. you need to set it up as IMAP if you want constant syncing with the server. delete the gmail account in Mail and set it up again. when you setting it up uncheck the box to set it up automatically. otherwise it will create it as POP again. see this link for instructions on how to set it up as IMAP

You shoulcn't, but download and use the free app My Contacts Backup to back up your contacts before you try. It will back up your contacts as an attachment to an email which you send to yourself. If you somehow lose your contacts by deleting the account you can later open this email on your phone and tap the attachement to re-import your contacts.

In ical why does my wife get an email everytime I update our home calendar but when she makes changes I don't?

I have shared a calendar with my wife aptely called "Home" to which every time I update or rearrange something she gets an email, I understand that this is quite useful for informing her of any changes but when she makes changes I receive no notifications/email. The problem I/she has is that when updating especially on the mac I change alot of things very quickly and she ends up with a flooded inbox informing her of small changes such as I've changed the time by half an hour or maybe a spelling has changed, does anybody out there know how to turn off the emails, we both regulary check the notifications bar on our ios devices and can see whats planned for the day etc so why burden the servers in the sky sending one way emails?? OK, I don't have the exact same problem, but here are a few things you could try.
1. Go to www.icloud.com and login. Select your calendar from the icons and you will then see the cogwheel in the top right corner. Click on it and enter your settings. Under ADVANCED, there is a tick box saying "Send me a copy of event invitations and updates"
2. On the shared calendar on the left hand side of the calendar you are in, it should show a list of your calendars. The shared ones are green whilst the others are just white/transparent - Click on the green one of the calendar that is being shared (The clarify, this needs to be done within your wifes icloud, not yours and she needs to click your "Home" calendar green bit). This opens up the Tick box "Email me when this calendar changes" - deselect this.

For what its worth, here is my problem. I keep getting invitations for all my girlfriends new appointments. They are coming up in the same invitations box that you get notified in when someone invites you to a lunch where you select reject, accept etc. But these just have an OK select button. I can't seem to find anything that rectifys this, and it has only happened since I upgraded to Mountain Lion, but my girlfriend has not.
There is nothing on the web to describe this problem so far and I have gone through every setting trying to rectify it. If anyone can help on this one, that'd be great.

Where is the option for using my account balance when I make purchases?

I have a balance of $15.29 on my itunes account, and when i make purchases the option to spend this account balance is not available. The only options are to use a credit card. When I choose "none" for payment type, I am blocked from making the purchase. No other options. I am being cheated out of my own money!

Why do most of my stacks come ungrouped when I make changes to other files in the same folder?

I have a folder of about 3000 graphics and photos that I use for work. I've meticulously organized them all by using unique file names, keywords, and sorting. However, when I make changes to a set of files (especially using the batch rename tool), a large percentage, even a majority, of the other stacks in the folder come ungrouped.
This has been happening to me for several months, and so far I can't see any type of order or factor that makes certain files come ungrouped. Many times, it's the same files that come ungrouped, but in addition to those, there will be other random stacks that I lose. My stacks are only a few files big (each stack is comprised of the same picture in different file types) and with how many files I have, this has become seriously detrimental to my workflow and efficiency. Anywhere from 20-70 stacks will become ungrouped. I almost always have my files sorted by filename, and when I rename files using batch rename, I give them such similar names that I'd think there would be no reason for the rest of my files to come ungrouped. For example, if there are three files I want to group, I will give them a name like background_001, background_002, and background_003. After I do this, I'll discover that my stacks with names like template_(sequence number) and UI_(sequence number) have come ungrouped. It will do this with pages and pages of stacks at the same time, regardless of how I have the files / stacks sorted. It doesn't happen everytime I rename a batch, either. I just created 10 batches of 3 like-named files each, and after this last batch, about a hundred files came ungrouped.
I understand that doing things like changing the sorting method of files, or renaming a file so that it's thrown in the middle of a stack, will ungroup my stacks. I don't think I'm doing any of these things (I've been trying desperately to make sure I don't change the sorting method of my files or do anything to a file that might have an effect like this). I don't use ratings or color labels in these folders, the only tools I use are batch rename, keywords, and stacks.
Is there any way to preserve my stacks so this stops happening in the future, or I can correct it when it does?

I work with jpg, psd, ai, svg, and pdf files. Most of my stacks are three different file types of the same image, usually jpg, psd/ai, and pdf.
I have not recieved any error messages

It's worth noting that if your Gmail has been hacked, it would likely have nothing to do with your MacBook. Hacking web based email is fairly common and it doesn't require any access to your machine whatsoever. In the same way that you can simply go to the Gmail webpage through any browser, any hacker can use the same method. It doesn't mean your machine has been compromised in any way (and it has likely not been). I have never received an email from Google of this nature. I have received notifications when someone has attempted to create an account with my name in which they basically say that there is no action required if you're the rightful owner.

I have iWeb '08 and just switched from Mobileme to GoDaddy and using Filezilla. Now when I make changes through iWeb it doesn't actually publish to my desktop folder. In fact, it doesn't publish at all but says that it did.

Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
If that fails:
Restore from your back up, repair the Library and try again.

"Contact us" links on web sites open a box that says "This link needs to be opened with an application. Send to:" My only e-mail account is through my Comcast.net account but Comcast is not an option. When I choose Firefox, which is an option, a new blank window opens but I have no idea how to generate an outgoing e-mail message. This is very frustrating because I cannot seem to find any help with this issue and i seem to be precluded from e-mailing numerous organizations because of this. STRANGE PROBLEM with "Create New Mail Account.scpt" when creating POP acct.

I am using "Create New Mail Account.scpt" to create a POP account. It creates the account successfully. It fetches the mails successfully. Now the problem begins. After fetching all the mails once if u click "Get Mail" in mac mail, it fetches all the emails again and has now 1 original and 1 copy of the email set which is on the server. I just need 1 copy of the mail set not multiple. Please give me a solution or direct me to a help.

I can't quite tell what it's doing, but open Keychain Access in Applications>Utilities, click on your Keychain on the left, put .mac in the search bar, once you find it, double click on it and click show password.
If you have no mail in there try this with Mail quit.
Drag this file to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
Start Mail & see if it steps you through it.

I've set up my Mac - Mail with my yahoo, gmail and hotmail accounts and can successfully send and receive mail. However, when I go online to my actual yahoo, gmail and hotmail accounts to delete unwanted emails or to move those emails into subfolders, my Mac - Mail is not updated. How do I do this?

They need to go into their settings>messages and make sure iMessage is on. Also they should click on the send & receive button to make sure their phone number is selected.

All mail accounts offline when disconnecting from HMA pro

Im using Airport Extremes WLAN for internet access.
Every time I disconnect from HMA! VPN Pro , secure internet encryption application, all my mac mail accounts go offline. All available SMTP servers including gmail smtp server which according HMA Helpline is whitelisted , are all off-line. No way to bring them back alive again.Cant send or receive any email. Quitting HMA and reloading mail doesn't work. It drives me nuts. Support from HMA is poor. They say to use gmail smtp servers instead any others because they are "whitelisted". but even gmail is steadily offline. Tried to change ports as suggested in their troubleshooting section- without success.
Only thing that does the trick is to switch to my iPhone's personal hotspot. But switching back to WLAN again sets all accounts offline again.
Another workaround is to restart the complete system 10.8.5 and not log on to HMA which is quiet a nuisance. AS soon as I log in I can't send email again through mac mail program (which according HMA's support section "is normal"-). Logging on to HMA must doe some nasty thing to the WLAN settings in the background which I can't figure out. So far I have not received any solution to this nuisance from HMA.
Anybody out there having similar problems and possible solutions?

Here's what i did, I had the same problem. Go to the finder/go/computer/yourname/library/preferences. move the file com.apple.mail.plist to the trash bin. But before you do this copy all the info on your account for your isp. Such as user name,password , incomming server, and outgoing server info. This worked for me. Good luck
