Having problems deleting songs from my iPhone5s

I am trying to Sync my Purchased playlist to my iPhone, and then manually delete only certain songs that I no long listen to from the said iPhone. I ahve tried multiple ways but can not seem to figure it out.

In order to sync only checked songs, you have to indicate that in your iPod preferences when the iPod is docked to your computer. If you wish to remove iPod content directly when the iPod is listed in the itunes source pane, you must be on manual sync. The iPod contents being "greyed out" indicate you are on auto sync.

  • Help, I am having problems syncing songs from itunes to my ipod.

I am having great difficulty in trying to sync purchased songs from itunes music store to my ipod.
I have just registered my ipod to my home computer after having it originally registered on a friends computer. Now on my own computer I have purchased 14 songs and have tried to sync them onto my ipod. However it keeps coming up with a message that my computer is not authorized to play them. Therefore its not copying onto my ipod.
Any solutions/help would be greatly recieved, thanks.

I'll wager that you have a second account that you forgot about. Fire up iTunes but do not log on to your account. Try to play one of the problem songs. A popup window will appear asking you to authorize your computer for that account.

    HELP! !

    hiya!
hmmmm. some other connection issues have been known to cause the -69, although under those circumstances people more typically get the "disk cannot be read from or written to" error message.
working on that theory, let's see if anything in this document helps:
"Disk cannot be read from or written to" when syncing iPod or "Firmware update failure" error when updating or restoring iPod

  • I am having problems transferring songs from my computer to my iPhone.

I got a new laptop and installed all my music onto it, I also installed iTunes.  When I connect my phone it brings up iTunes etc. but if I try to drag music from my "library" to my phone, it will not let me.  Am I missing something?  I know when I hooked my phone up to the laptop the first time it just recoginized it at a mobile phone, and a storage device, it did not try to dl iTunes automatically, I had to go the the dl site and get it manually.

The way I've always done it and someone may have a better way and if so, I'd be open to how it's done actually the correct way.  Since this way has worked for me 100% in the past, why try and fix something that isn't really broken.  Try my way and hopefully all will be good in the iPhone/iTunes world for you:
Find the directory (folder) on your computer that is named something close to this after first connecting your iPhone to your computer and then verifying (very important) you can see it in the folder list on the left side of the iTunes application window:
    C:\Users\<USERNAME>\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Automatically Add to iTunes\
After locating this directory (folder) path,(it may or may not be on the C: drive depending on where you installed iTunes of course) simply copy all of your media (music, videos, etc.) to this folder and allow the copy to complete.  Now, sit back and relax as iTunes "grabs" music from this folder one file at a time and more or less "checks" it to see if it's iPhone worthy of sorts.
When the copying and grabbing of files from this folder is complete, this folder will be empty.  Yes, empty as all of the files that have been either added or not added depending on the quality (I guess) of each of the media files and have now been "added to iTunes".  If the files were not added to the iTunes library, it's because they was some type of issue with the file quality or content or something.... not exactly sure how media files are "judged" by this process.
Now that this process is complete, right click on your "iPhone" which you should still see on the left side of the iTunes application window and then click "Backup iPhone" or something close to that. NOTE:  I'm assuming you have already done this right click and performed a "transfer purchases" prior to doing this "Backup" process.  After the backup process completes, right click the iPhone icon again and then click on "sync".  The sync process will start and finish and when completed, you should now have all your music as well as everything else on your iPhone as well as your iTunes library.
Hope this helps and if not, I'm sorry I couldn't help after all.  Have a good day!

  • Problem deleting songs---HELP!!!

I'm having problem deleting songs, when i select the ipod icon in the screen of ituns i can't select NOTHING FROM THE LIST,and in the lower right hand a "lock" is locked,(is next to the GB numbers. Can anyone help me to unlocked that thing?
Oh i almost forget, i'm sure that the hold button isn' he reason for this, coz i checked that it wasn't locked.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Try unchecking the songs you want deleted in your iTunes library. Then connect the iPod and go to edit-->preferences. Hit the iPod tab. Check "Only update checked songs". Click OK.
    Here are some other options...

Finally, you cannot select anything under the iPod because you are automatically updating. That is normal behavior.

  • Deleting Songs from Nano 7 - Problems!

What should be a simple matter is made so complex by Apple that it is pure torture.
Why is it so complicated to delete songs from Nano 7?
I've tried the "uncheck the boxes" and re-sync nonsense.  Yes, it got rid of some songs -- but it ADDED songs I NEVER checked!
And after multiple re-syncs, without those songs checked, these ghost songs keep appearing.
Frustrating with a capital F -- and a reason this is my last Apple product.  Ever.

Are you loading songs using automatic syncing?  It sounds like it, but I'm not sure.  Using the checkboxes next to songs is not the appropriate way to remove songs.
Select the iPod in iTunes.  There is a row of buttons going across, near the top, starting with Summary.  Click on Music next to Summary.  This is iPod's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music, if it's not already checked.  Since you want to select what does and does not go on the iPod, you can choose to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  Below that, select the playlists, artists, albums, and/or genres you want on the iPod.
If you want to make this simple, you can try this approach for setting this up.  Create a new playlist in your iTunes library.  You can call it "iPod Songs" (or whatever you want).  To this playlist, add ALL of the songs you want on the iPod.
Back on the iPod's Music screen, select "iPod Songs" under Playlists; you can select other things if desired.  When you click Apply, all of the songs in your selection, including the "iPod Songs" playlist, sync to the iPod.  Going forward, when you want to remove songs from the iPod or add songs to the iPod, just update that playlist in iTunes.  The next time you connect the iPod (or click the Sync button), the same changes are automatically synced to the iPod.
That should solve your problem with deleting songs.  Just maintain the playlist in iTunes, and iTunes maintains the iPod automatically.  You can, of course, maintain more than one playlist in iTunes, and sync them all to the iPod (up to the capacity limit of the iPod).  Be sure to checkmark all of those songs you unchecked in your iTunes music library.
Note that there are other buttons next to Summary and Music.  Those are for setting up automatic syncing for those other types of iTunes content.
If you are using the manual method (dragging songs to the iPod in iTunes to load), and not automatic syncing, please post back.

  • Is there a way to delete songs from an ipod without having to connect to iTunes?

is there a way to delete songs from an ipod without having to connect to iTunes?

Does delete (from the iPhone) really delete the songs from the iPhone, or just hide the songs?
I normally list "By artist".  I can delete an album (by swiping on the album sidways and then pressing delete), and the album (and all the songs) don't appear in the music player on the iPhone; But when I look at music in iTunes for the iPhone, the songs are still there.
    I'm confused.

  • Delete songs from iTunes library from "recently added" playlist

can you please add a function that removes songs from both the entire library and the recently added playlist by simply right clicking a song while in the "Recently Added" playlist that has the "Delete" function. this is very simple and would make iTunes that much more user friendly.
    thanks!
i have no idea where else to submit suggestions like this, apple people aren't user-friendly enough.

can you please add a function that removes songs from both the entire library and the recently added playlist by simply right clicking a song while in the "Recently Added" playlist that has the "Delete" function
We are only other users, such as yourself.
You can send suggestions to Apple here -> http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html
Press *Shift Delete* to delete songs from a playlist and also from the library.
    (from your signature block)
    pc, duh
Not really "duh". I have a pc and it is a Macintosh.
The idea is to put correct info in your signature to help with problems you may be having As an example, if you had problems with your iTunes library disappearing and your signature showed "Sony Vaio", immediately we would know the Sony media software is the problem.
    why do you care
So we don't have to ask when you post a question.

  • Delete Dialogue not appearing... can't delete songs from hard-drive

After downloading ver 7.0.2 I can't delete songs from my hard-drive by deleting them in iTunes.
There's supposed to be a dialogue(sp?) box that shows up when you delete a song in the main library (not in playlists), that asks you if you want to permanantly delete a file (song, movie, etc), or if you only want to delete it from the iTunes list.
It's not showing up for me, so I have to seek out the folder and delete the song manually in Windows.
I'd get this problem occasionaly in the older versions, but usually a restart of the program, or in worse cases, rebooting the computer would solve the problem, but not this time.
I've tried re-installing the program, but no luck.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

I tried the following fix, and it didn't work..
Is anyone else having this problem after upgrading to 7.0.2?
I'm sure I didn't check the box in the delete dialog that says "do not show this again"
I've also tried hitting the shift key when deleting.. still no luck.
    HELP!!
    Resetting the iTunes Preference Files:
    -- Quit iTunes
    -- Delete C:\Documents and Settings\<your username>\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes.pref
    -- Delete C:\Documents and Settings\<your username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Apple Computer Inc\iTunes.pref
You may need to enable 'Show Hidden Files/Folders' in Windows Explorer==>Tools menu==>Folder Options==>’View’ tab before you can see the Application Data & Local Settings folders.
This will force iTunes to run the setup assistance the next time you open it. You'll have to go back and re-set any preferences you want changed from the iTunes default. When you restart iTunes, it will perform its initial startup process. Do not let iTunes search for your music files. The old library is still there and iTunes will see it after it gets past the initial dialog screens.

  • Deleting songs from iCloud seems to not be working for me?

    Hello,
I'm having a huge problem currently. I have read the faqs on "How to delete songs from iCloud?" and understand it perfectly. But tonight I'm trying to delete this album out off my computer and it was deleted because I seen the album go straight to the trash. I emptied the trash can and for some reason when I go to click "Update iTunes Match". The album I deleted pops back up via iCloud. Now I then deleted that hoping the songs would delete from the iCloud also. Well loe and behold the songs came back again via iCloud. These aren't purchases made via iTunes. These are songs I've uploaded using a purchased music CD from Best Buy. And they seem to not be able to leave iCloud for some reason. No matter how many times I have to delete them.
Is there any way around this?
I have iTunes Match and I'm using a MacBook Pro (OS Mavericks).

    Hello Kitkat1017,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post it appears that you are both logged in to the same Apple ID in your Messages settings, which would cause you to get the same messages on both devices.  If you select "Send & Recieve" in your Messages settings, you will likely see the same Apple ID logged in on both devices.

I am having trouble removing songs from my iPhone.  i have unchecked songs in the library on my mac, but they still show up on phone after syncing.  how do I remove them?

    Hi asims01,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The information below may be able to answer your questions about how to delete songs from your iPhone:
Deleting songs downloaded to your device
    Tap the Music app.
Tap More > Songs at the bottom.
Scroll or search for the song you would like to delete from your device.
Swipe right to left on the song, and then tap Delete.
Note: You must be in Artists, Songs, or Albums view to delete songs from your device. Deleting from a playlist won't remove a song from your iOS device.
Also, this information can be found on page 64 of the iPhone User Guide for iOS 7
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1565/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf
Remove a song from iPhone. Tap Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.
If you have iOS 7, this will delete the song from local storage, but the song will still appear with a cloud symbol in the Music app, as you've noticed. To hide the iTunes in the Cloud purchases, navigate to Settings > iTunes & App Store, and disable "Show All: Music”
There may be a few orphaned songs on your iPhone that were partially downloaded or corrupted in some way. If that is the case, you can erase all of the music from your phone.  Follow the instructions below and select the Music app under Usage:
iPhone, iPad, and iPod: Understanding capacity

I hope this information helps ....

  • Deleting Songs From iTunes Library...and Keeping Them On Your iPod

Will this process allow me to delete songs from my iTunes library, but keep them on my iPod?
    1. When iPod is plugged in, check "Only Sync Checked Items" in iTunes
    2. Delete items from iTunes library.
    3. Add new items to iTunes library.
    4. Sync iPod.
It should keep the songs I deleted from iTunes on my iPod, right?
If you need me to be any clearer, please ask.
EDIT: If this will not work, is there another way to do this? The songs I have are taking up a lot of room on my computer.

Any auto sync method you use will delete the songs from the iPod if you delete them from iTunes.
You can delete songs from your iTunes/computer hard drive after transferring them to the iPod, and for this you need to set your iPod to manage the songs manually.
However, this is an extremely risky option because when (and not if) there comes a time to restore your iPod, which is a very common fix for iPod problems, then all the music would be erased. If you no longer have the music in iTunes (or any other back up), then all that music would be lost.

  • Change of functionality in deleting songs from iCloud/iTunes Match with the 11.0.2 version of iTunes?

I updated to iTunes 11.0.2 and this version brought a change of wording regarding deleting songs from iCloud/iTunes Match, and I'd like to know if there are any changes in functionality to match the change in wording:
With version 11.0.2, when I try to delete any song (uploaded, matched or purchased) I'm presented with a pop-up dialog box that asks me if I'm sure and also gives me a "Also hide this song from iCloud?" option.
In prior iTunes versions the pop-up dialog box would ask instead "Also delete this song from iCloud?".
Has the functionality changed? If so, what's the difference in functionality between 11.0.2 and previous versions? If the functionality of deleting songs has changed, how do I delete an uploaded song from both my local library and iCloud/iTunes Match?

I am having the same issue- pelase could anyone help? Mods?
