Having problems previewing

I am a new user to premiere, mostly because every time I try to use it I find it impossible to even see what I am editing. My system runs just fine with After Effects Cs5 (which should logically be the more taxing on your system out of the two) however when I play back I get nothing but lag. I know I can render for a preview but I don't want to wait for 3 hours to get a preview for a 7 minute video (that doesn't even have any effects, just the raw, imported video.) Really, by now I am ready to just edit it in Vegas, which runs just fine (funny, considering it's way cheaper.) Is there a solution to the problem, without buying anything? If there isn't I really expected more from Adobe, maybe I'll just stick to After Effects (Which is doing Premiere's job way better.)

As Jim says, we need more information:
What version of Premiere Pro? Have you installed the recent updates? What operating system? What kind(s) of source footage? Has this ever worked before? What other software are you running? Do you have any third-party effects or codecs installed? Tell us about your computer hardware. Are you using Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration?

    Can you open the Preview program without loading a file, like by itself?
    If it doesn't load then I suspect a corrupt Preview preference file.
    Deleting the System Preference or other .plist file
    Can you open other files with Preview, like jpg's and images?
    How about other PDFs? or is it just that one you have downloaded?

  • Hi everyone. I have just started having problems with iCal.  Events that I thought I had deleted are appearing on Print Preview and on print outs. Likewise Events which I have not deleted have disappeared from my calenders, but appear in print preview.

    Hi everybody. I have recently started having problems with iCal (Version 2.05 (1069). Events that I thought I had deleted appear in Print Preview and Print Outs. Likewise Events that I have not deleted have disappeared from my calender (Month View) but appear in Print Preview and Print Outs. I see that there have been similar problems with Events disappearing especially in Month View. I wondered how print preview seemrd to be picking everything up deleted or not, and what the solution may be?. First time of Posting. I hope I haven't embarassed myself.

    Hmmmm.
    At the very least there must be a "com.apple.ical.plist"...iCal would not function without it.
    Click on the Finder icon in the dock
    Click on Go > Home
    Double-click Library
    Double-click Preferences
    Look for a file called "com.apple.ical.plist" and remove it to the trash.

  • HT2506 Is there anyone else who is having problems printing with Preview since upgrading to Lion OS X?

    Since upgrading to Lion OS X, I have not been able to print any of my documents that were created in Adobe PDF.  All calls to customer support have been a bust.
    When I try to print anything it comes out looking like this:
    Apple PREVIEW team!!!!  PLEASE HELP!!!

    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
    The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
    Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, selectHelp from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
    While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
    Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
    After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
    Note: If you’ve activated FileVault in Mac OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
    The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
    Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
    Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
    Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
    Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
    Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
    The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
    Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
    After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.) Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

    Did all of that yesterday, with the Apple Representative on the phone, and nope, still a problem...it was kind of exciting, really, they kept going up and up the tiers of support until I got disconnected...Fortunately I had the email address of the gentleman who was helping me so that I could email him back and let him know that we got disconnected...as you might imagine, he still has not emailed me back.  They were able to receive a copy of the form that I use for charting and try it in their facility on their computers, so we know:
    1- it is not just my computer.
    2- it occurred only after installing Lion OS X, not sure if they have tried it on Snow Leopard, but that's what I would have done if I was them...assuming that somewhere in Apple someone has not upgraded to Lion.
    3- it is not just my software.
    I think the problem is with the newer iteration of Preview  not communicating well with the Adobe .pdf.  probably some line of coding that needs to be written and insertedinto their program for multiline text.

  • I'm having problems with the hyper-links and footer

    I'm having problems with the hyper-links (they flicker and also highlight other text on the page) and also the footer space goes on forever in preview site mode, even though I have made it small in the master and homepage and subsequent pages.  This only happened after I loaded a MUSE file into the current version of Muse CC as it runs upgrades on the imported Muse file.  Please Help Me Adobe Community.

    I'll do what you mentioned about republishing all files, what Adobe Muse seems to to is run and upgrade when you open an older version .muse file, optimising it.
    Hopefully republishing it rather than syncing with the new version might help.  I'll do this Tuesday evening when I am back from my client meeting.
    I was thinking, is there a way of me rolling back to a previous version of Adobe MUSE CC ?  I'm using build Adobe Muse CC (2014.3) but I wish to roll back to Adobe Muse CC (2014.1), as this was the version the site was working properly with.

    I am having problems opening PDF documents, I have already checked and I do not have my pop up blocker on, Is there an app that I need to get? I just bought my MacBook Pro and love it but need to get it set up and this is on of the things I am having a problem with. Any advice?

    Is this a problem opening pdf documents in a Safari browser window? If so, you'll need to download Adobe Reader. It will install the "Adobe Acrobat NPAPI Plug-in". For opening pdf files off-line, I also recommend Reader - Preview will choke on forms sometimes.

    I'm using the same swear words as you. There are several threads about this problem - no answers.
    I have a LaserJet 8100N and 8150DN, get the 79.01FE error on the 8150 from print outs from Safari, Firefox, and Preview, for only some sites/documents. CNN.com has become my test site, seems I can crash the printer 90% of the time with their home page at any given time in the day.
    A summary of what I have tried:
    - Upgraded the firmware to the latest for both the JetDirect card and the printer.
    - Swapped the JetDirect cards between the 8100 and 8150.
    - Swapped ram on the 8150 board.
    - Disconnected external trays, bins, and removed extra RAM and hard drives from the 8150.
    - Tried setting the JetDirect link and matching switch port link to 100FD, 10HD, 10FD, 100HD, as suggested by a poster.
    - Tried having client's print to the printer through a XServer Print Server.
    - Can consistently create the error from multiple systems running 10.3.9, 10.4.5, and 10.4.6 (didn't have an install base of 10.4 before 10.4.5).
    Someone in the 'know' (which means they're likely not), said 10.4.7 will likely fix this. Being Apple has not even addressed that the problem exists (that I could find), I doubt the magic fix is a release away.
    Apple's software is triggering something that Windows systems appears not to be, so one could say it's an Apple problem; but ulimately it's HP's software/hardware that is at fault in that it is allowing their system to crash from input alone.

    Firstly, I do not understand why you are using an absolutely positioned div for your button.
    And if you gave us an actual link to the website, we could see how the AP div actually does interact with your website.
    But I do have a hunch:
    Looks like you have positioned the button off the screen. If one has one's browser open to something like 900 pixels wide, your button will be 30 more pixels to the right of where the viewer's browser is. It will also be 325 pixels down from the top, which means it will be just below many headers.
    With AP divs, often browsers won't show you scroll bars if you have positioned something off the page.

  • Having problems seeing Movie

    Just completed my first Movie but am having problems. When I scroll over the movie the audio and video both play. When I play in the preview video and export to itunes/youtube the video is black?
    This is probably a very simple thing I'm doing wrong nevertheless at the moment very frustrating.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    When I look at what it says in the iphoto export it indicates this:
    Compression: Cinepak
    Quality: Medium
    key Frame Rate: 24
    data Rate: 90kbytes/sec
    Wow! That is an old one which I had not even considered testing. Will probably have to run some tests on my own to confirm it, but for the moment am assuming this compression format has the same export problem as both Animation and Video. Frankly, I am surprised that it even imported at all since the Sorenson/Sorenson 3 compressed formats would not and I simply stopped testing at that point. My advice would be to convert one of your files to one of the "proven to be compatible" formats (like DV, AIC, M-JPEG, Photo-JPEG, MPEG-4, H.264, etc.) and perform a test project export of the single file to see if it exports normally. If it does, the you have located the problem and should probably report it via iMovie Feedback.
    Also, if you open it in the QT Player and check the "Inspector" window, you should find the audio compression format used. Would be interested in leaning which was used with your video here.

    Sorry for the late reply. My email firewall has become a little over zealous & sent a lot of my emails straight to my junk email folder, so I have only just now discovered your reply in my junk mail folder.
    The only "don't open files exceeding xxx megabytes" instruction I can find in my Prefs, is in the Bridge Prefs for Thumbnails, & mine is set at 1000mb. The biggest files I handle are bigger than 200mb so I should be able to open a few, not just one.
    However, this doesn't explain why I can open a psd format file of 180mb, close it, but then can't open a RAW format file of only 26mb immediately after.
    I can open the RAW file only if I restart my computer - very annoying!
    However, thanks for the advice about the video card & memory.
    So, I'm still stuck as to what the issue is.

    This is a major problem with Lollipop, but yo said it started 2 months ago.   Several people have fixed problem by removing FaceBook And Face book messenger and then re loading the apps again.   You might want to clear your cache before reloading.  Not sure this is your problem, but worth a try.  Good Luck

    Check that there isn't a different Trash folder to the one with the proper Trash symbol on it.
    If you see one in your list of folders rather than a separate one, highlight it, then click on Mailbox...Use this mailbox for...Trash

    I recently had to swap out my iphone 4s and I am having problems restoring photos and videos from icloud.  When I restored my phone from icloud, half of my pics and videos have been deleted, the pics that were restored on my phone are very blurry, and the videos won't play.  I get a message on my phone that says " the URL you are requesting is not found on this server".  I have erased and reset my phone twice, but every time I do it, more pics and videos are deleted.  I have backed up to icloud and iphoto, however, some of the pics are no longer on iphoto either.  Is there someway to get the videos to play on my phone again?  Make the photos not as blurry as they are now and to restore the pics and videos that have been lost?  I really would love to have them back, this phone is supposed to be the best and right now it doesn't seem to be.  Please help if you can.

    iTunes Support wasn't of any use to me.
    I have also been having another problem - with BBC iPlayer and other video streaming not working due to insufficient bandwidth, despite my overall download speed being consistently around 50Gb.  This is also affecting AppleTV downloads
    I am using Virgin Media as my ISP, and was wondering whether you do as well.  This might be the common thread.
