Having Problems with my mail Program

I am having Problems with my email account. I am still on OS snow Leopard and just recently ordered the Newer Mac mini with Lion.
I use to have the Mobile Me account, since I haven't switched over to iCloud yet, I still have the Mobile Me account set up in my email account and still have the Mobile Me idisk on my desktop.I also have my other local isp email account in my mail program. Just now I am getting a email problem from my other email account, I am getting my email but I get a pop up window that request my password from my other email account and at the top of the side bar where the mail icons are on the left side there is a "A" with a Circle around it next to my mail icon or sometimes a " ~ " (Tilda)  next to the mail icon. I tried to contact my ISP to ask them if they were having propblems at their end but they didn't get back to me, they usually do get back to me.
Since I have the Mobile Me email account un active, am wondering if the mobile me account is effecting my other active email? am also wondering if the computer still thinks that the Mobile me email account is still active and is trying to get mail through my other active email account?
Does someone have any soloutions for me? or can someone Please help me? cause this is very fustrating cause that Password wondow keeps popping up and I can not turn it off from popping up unless I completly quit the mail program but if I restart it or reopen it up, it starts all over again.
Please someone Help me if you know what is going on here?
Thank You,
Mrs. Trisha Foster

you might try to look for the VACUUM command (do a google search on: mail.app vacuum).
The ~/Library/Mail/Envelope Index file is a SQLite database. it does slow down as things are added and deleted. You can also find people who suggest deleting (or moving this file to the desktop or somewhere else) after quitting MAIL and then restarting MAIL... it will tell you it needs to import all your mail... it SHOULD find all the mail and rebuild the "Envelope Index" file. You can try it.

  • Is anyone having problems with Yahoo mail please ?

    Hi,
I am having problems with yahoo mail.  I have to log in and out a few times before the inbox will open.  Having eventually got in, it fails to delete.
So I'm asking if others are experiencing similar problems please ?
    Best regards,
    dfenceman

    Hi,
This problem seems intermittent.  It was working OK earlier this morning but now I can't open emails, I'm getting the following error message "We’re sorry, but there appears to be a problem loading the email".
If I try forwarding the message to an alternative email address, as suggested on the Yahoo community forum, I get this error message "Yahoo Mail is having a problem retrieving the original email for reply or forward."
Has anyone got a fix, or even a workaround please ?
Can the mods help with this ?
    Best regards,

  • Is anyone having problems with apple mail since upgrading to Yosemite?

MacBook Pro 15", mid 2012 running Yosemite 10.10.1 - ever since upgrading to Yosemite, I have a problem with Apple Mail which is that the from address persists on my screen after I close the email.  I have to quit mail and sometimes even restart to get rid of it.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Any ideas?

No, I mean it lingers when I close the email. What I've discovered since I posted earlier is that if I reopen the email and hover over the address  in the actual email the one that is persisting goes away.  Thank goodness, because it is very annoying. I am wondering if it is somehow intentional in the SW. Thank you for asking.

  • Is anyone having problems with sending mail today?

I am having problems sending mail today (as is my husband). I am using the Mail program with my iMac. I am getting constant requests for passwords and sending my in iCloud account just keeps spinning. My husband received an email I sent him although on my computer it was still in the outbox and spinning. Is this network wide or my ISP.

Are you guys by anychance on Optimum Online? My family is having the same issue; they are able to access all services on their 3G devices, and I can access their accounts from my home, which is not on Optimum -- only having this issue through Optimum's cable internet.

  • I am having problems with the Mail search engine.

Here is what is happening. When I attempt to search my Mac Mail sent folders using the Mac Mail's search function, the message window simply goes blank after I enter the second letter into the space next to the magnifying glass icon. This only happens when I try to search my sent folders. It will still search my received mail folders just fine.
I have tried rebuilding the Spotlight index, and also rebuilding the Mac Mail database. Neither worked.
I have read some suggestions that one use Terminal with a command such as sudo hdutil -i on "/Volumes/Macintosh HD.
Although I am loathe to type anything into Terminal, I tried to enter this command, then it asks me for my administrator password, and then refuses to allow me to enter it, so that is an entirely new problem that I would have to figure out.
I am using OS 10.6.8 on a MacBook Pro.
What if I just reinstall Mac Mail? Would that work?
    Thanks for your help.

Spam filters work in different ways on different computers and different email providers, so why one message does go to the Spam/Bulk mailbox, and why it doesn't all depends on the Spam filtering criteria that that provider or product set up.
Any messages you want that appear in the Bulk Mailbox, you would be best off learning how to train the software or the email provider that it's good mail and not spam.  Once you do that, the emails that you've been flagging as good emails will begin to come back into your normal email boxes.
If you still need more help with this, please provide:
    1) The email software you're using on your computer, and the system software on your computer -- example: Outlook 2010 and Windows 7
    2) The email provider you're having trouble with -- example: yahoo mail, a work exchange email account

  • Problem with corrupted Mail program

This all started because my battery is so weak at this point that if I unplug for more than a few minutes, the system just blinks off....which is exactly what happened while the Mail program was doing something important. When I rebooted, my mail program was completely corrupted.
Now it hangs while checking mail and registers up to 24 new e-mails, but shows none of them, or simply fetches the same e-mail over and over again in each folder. Then it freezes up while the progress whirlygig thing goes around and around...even if I take a mailbox off-line it seems to do this same thing.
I disabled some of the mailboxes and found that this erased the content of all my e-mails in each folder that was disabled.
Meanwhile, it will actually send mail perfectly well.
If I remember correctly, reinstalling my system software will not fix this problem, unless there's something I don't know about. (These days there are many of those things.) Is there a preferences folder I can trash or something I can do to fix my mail program, while hopefully saving my past e-mails (I can dream, can't I?)? Suggestions are most welcome.
    Thanks so much!
    Jennifer

    Golden Shoes:
    Thanks for the quick response.
I have a POP account. Several.
Also, I don't run the computer without the AC. It was being moved from a desk to a table when it shut down suddenly before I could reattach the cable.
Would the mail preferences be located in the user folder? I tried getting rid of them and still had the same problem. I'm worried about tossing something global out when I shouldn't.
Finally, if you don't mind, snark never solved a problem. I'm sure you have nothing to prove and if you do, I don't need to know. I simply had a question since I am new to this operating system.

  • Having problem with yahoo mail on my old iMac

My old dome based iMac is running Tiger. My yahoo mail is version 3.0.2. When I try and compose an email lately I add files but when I get ready to send there is no "send" button anywhere to be found. I want to email pics from my old iMac to my newer iMac with 10.6.8. So what is going on with yahoo?

    I suggest a flash dongle.
    dropbox.com
zip up all your pictures.  upload the pictures to dropbox.  download to new mac.  You do not need an app on your mac.  do a manual upload/download.
    yahoo mail is version 3.0.2
I am not familiar with this.  Is it an app?
Yahoo changed configuration for imap a week or so ago.  Perhaps you should check your parameters.
I use Mac OS X 10.4.11 Mail program.  Works for me with yahoo imap protocol for input and smtp for output.

    Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
''When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.''
    Thank you.

  • N8 having problem with e-mail that I can´t delete

I sent an e-mail with a few pictures and I think it was too many pictures since it comes up that it can´t send the e-mail. I want to know how I can delete that e-mail and how to make my phone try to send it every time I am connected to internet. Also when it tries, the phone gets very very slow and sometimes freezes totally.
Should it not be a folder where mails are? And I don´t mean sms messages.

    Did you try "rebuild mailbox?"

  • I have been having problems with e-mails coming through to my 3g iphone recently, my e-mail provider recommended diabling the SSL as a default option but im not sure where to find this on the phone can anyone help?told

Please can you advise how to disable the SSL on my iphone, i am not sure where the setting is.

Go to Settings/Mail, Contacts, Calendars.  Tap the name of the email account. If you don't see a bar labeled "Advance" near the bottom,  Tap Account.  Tap Advanced.   Under Incoming Settings, there should be an option to Use SSL.  If it is ON, tap it to turn it off.

I don't think that a software update from Apple will solve the issues that you are having. You have a rogue installation. After you posted I have just done the following:
Disk Utility can verify  my partitioned Volume (including my boot disk) AND REPAIR the non-boot disks on the same Volume without a glitch. It repairs the non-boot disks containing data smoothly.
I have used Mail to send some mails from some Yahoo and Hotmail accounts to my Thunderbird client containing GMail accounts - absolutely normal.
I have iLife '09 but my iMovie '09 and iPhoto '09 open in a jiffy and I see no issues here. I have 6GB RAM (Maximum) on an early 2008 Macbook Pro with a 750GB hard drive partitioned with 120GB reserved for the Boot Drive.
I am sorry that I cannot help further but I am sure there must be a way to reinstall the software without having to revert to restoring your ML backup. I have two clones and if you have such I would attempt to do that through that rather than through Time Machine - that is of course if you have a cloned drive.
    Good luck!

  • For users having problems with Mail functionality...

Hello! I have been having problems with Mail functionality as well, so, I took a few steps to see if I could solve the problem on my own.
    My problems were:
Mail would freeze when sending mail, or, when I pressed quit, it would freeze.
If I toggled between inboxes too much it would freeze up.
Even after trying the many techniques others offered on this board, Mail still froze up. So.. here's what I did:
1.) Turn off the auto-retrieve mail function in the preferences/general menu. Set it to a manual check. Just check it yourself every once in awhile. It may not be as convenient, but it works, trust me.
2.) Under the fonts and colors menu, set all three fonts to the SAME font (mines Century Schoolbook, but anything works) and turn off fixed-width font. Sometimes mail has a tough time decoding and working with texts, and causes it to freeze.
3.) Clean our your main inbox! Place the emails that you want to keep, but don't need to be in your inbox in a new folder on your inbox bar (mines aptly named 'Saved Messages.' That way, when you open up Mail to your default account, it doesn't have 1,000+ messages to index. Also, try to keep the inboxes from having more than 100-200 messages per. It seems to frown on any more than that.
After trying these three easy, steps, restart mail and see if things run smoother. I have had no problems since these changes, and mail runs a ton better. Plus you don't have to worry about deleting your library/mail folder anymore. Let me know if things work out so I can see if my theory is a universally proven thing. Thanks and good luck!
    iMac G5 20"   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Good question. I have worked very little with IMAP other than as a testing device, so, on a daily routine I cannot say how it would function. However, I can only expect that by having the option to download all emails for offline viewing selected, you are right in it being a lag creator. Another suggestion would be, if you are running a single-computer setup, to have the account delete emails from the server after recieving them on your computer. Thus, you reduce the risk of repeat downloads or unnecessary build-up on the server end. DO NOT select this option if you run multiple computer set ups on one AppleMail account system or you will cause some discrepancies and/or data loss from system to system. Or, if you have emails redirected from a seperate server to Mail (i.e. I redirect mail from my university email account into Mail so that I don't have to go to the web-mail site to check it--> just like Gmail or Yahoo etc etc) you won't be able to check them from the web-based email system if you have the system delete them. Ok that sounded confusing. Solution: have the system remove emails from the server after a week (or any period of time, just not immediately) so that, in the off-chance you need to use the online system, you will have access, and will give you a chance to check the emails on other systems without a threat of data corruption (by corruption i mean that frustrating feeling you get when you can't find that super important email that was in your inbox just 10 seconds ago on your desktop etc.)
I will see if I can learn anything more about IMAP Ernie. Its definitley the biggest problem source for Mail, POP and .Mac being simple and functional as long as you don't play with the settings too much. As far as the issue of Offline viewing goes, try turning it off and seeing how Mail functions.
BEFORE you turn it off, however, I recommend saving all of your emails in your inbox as a text file or something so, in case the server burps and has a brain flatuence, you don't lose anything. Been there, done that, thrown the books against the wall in a frustrated rage.
My only reserve about the Offline Viewing is whether or not Mail will, when you click "recieve mail," have to re-download the emails from the server each time. If so, then it may end up taking longer and lagging more. The issue here is obviously minimizing the amount of activity between Mail and the email server without jeapordizing information on the server or multiple Mail programs on the same account. When we can find that balance, I think Mail's potential will be realized. Keep the questions coming.
