Having probs backing up iPad after iOS5 install
iTunes downloaded iOS5 for my iPad but after doing so, it froze upon "Backing Up." I had to 'Force Quit" iTunes. I checked the iPad and it's still running the earlier version of iTunes. I'm thinking of just deleting the new iOS5 file and using the old one until the bugs are out of the new one. Or, does anyone have a solution to the not-backing-up part? Can I delete the iOS5 updated file from my Mac? BTW, I had no problem with updating my iPhone 3GS.

ive had the same problem i downloaded the new version and now it been on backing up since 1pm and its now 6:39pm i dont know what to do ?

My husband had the same problem with some apps after I updated his iPad 2 to iOS 5. I checked the app store and there were updates for the apps to support the new software. After updating, all apps work just fine.

I'm having probs backing up iPhone 5 to iCloud - just sits on the backing up screen with message 'estimated time remaining....' But goes no further and doesn't back up - wifi is fine and definitely enough storage spaces. Anyone have any ideas please?
You might try a forced shutdown to begin with, hold down the top and home buttons together until the device shuts down, then restart it.
First check that your device is correctly connected to the wifi/internet (settings > wifi)
If your back up continually fails, you might try turning off back up on your mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup) and then deleting the backup file from iCloud by swiping the backup file on the mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup > manage…) and then turning back up on again.
If this doesn't help, try turning off some items for back up in a pattern to try to establish if your problem is being caused by specific data on your device.
Being able to back up to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you don't have access to a computer or have infrequent access to one, however unless you specifically need to use iCloud for back up, you will find backing up to iTunes significantly more convenient and possibly more reliable.

I have installed reader about 10 times now and it says I can use it now, but when I try to open a file it tells me I need to launch Reader and Agree to terms. I really need to use it now for school. You need to open Reader outside of Safari Start>All programs and accept the agreement.

Some files in "DOCUMENTS" icon in dock won't open. Get msg saying "You need a newer version of Pages to open this document." Already have Pages 4.1 installed. Same files will open ok from Finder/Pages App./selected file. Prob not noted until recently after sync'd with ipad2 (Pages) when I installed iOS5. Anyone-- please?!
You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5.2 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.2 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Older versions of Pages 5 can not open files from later versions of Pages 5.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud and opened in a newer version of Pages is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed almost 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

Missing App store from my ipad after ios5 installation
I seem to be missing my app store icon from my ipdad after upgrade to Ios5, how do I get it back. I'm unable to dowload apps directly to my iPad
Reboot and see if it comes back.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Swipe from screen to screen and look for it.
If you can find it any other way - you can reset the home screen layout and it will appear on the home screen. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout. But if you do this - you will return the home screen to the exact way that it looked out of the box. -
Ipad2 old emails gone after ios5 install
Last night I installed the new version of IOS5 on my iPad2 and I have now lost all of my previous emails. Has anyone else experienced similar things or found a fix for this problem? Thanks
Regrettably, Apple doesn't preserve saved emails retrieved from POP accounts through major iOS version changes. I lost a bunch of saved emails too.
Do you also check your POP account with another email client? I'm going back and finding copies of all the important emails on my Mac's Outlook client, and then forwarding those same emails back to myself so I can once again retrieve them on my iPad. It's a pain, but it works -- if I have a second copy saved on my Mac.
Maybe one of these days I'll switch to an IMAP email provider.... -
Still having problems with insufficeint permissions - after clean install
I'm seeing this on multiple friends' computers, and now have it on mine.
An auto update fails with the error of insufficient permissions. (I can't find how to post a screen shot of it.)
I read through several discussions, and ran the manual uninstaller, then checked for the files as denoted on the FAQ, and tried to run the installer after downloading it and still cannot get Flash Player installed due to insufficient permissions writing the files.
I am on Windows 7 64 bit(current patch level), IE(9.0.14), and have d/l the latest Adobe Flash Installer.
I know that at least 1 of my friends is on Windows 7 32 bit, IE, and whatever the latest Adobe Flash update is trying to install.
I am running on an Administer account while trying this.
When I was first asked for help I checked and know that my friend's account was Administration as well. Last month I reran the flash installation file and used the "Run as Administrator" option from an administration account and the installed worked. That did not fix the issue this time. As stated above I have it on my system now and some other friends have it on theirs as well.
How can I fix the issue? How can I make sure it doesn't come back when the next auto audate takes place?

IMessages womt send from new iPad after ios6 installed
After updating to ios6 iMessage will not send or receive messages
created an account just to piggyback on YardleyFFL, I have the exact same issue with my latest-generation IPad/Verizon data plan & having to press my luck with the exact same type of fixes as he's outlined above except in the DC metro area. *** is going on with that, had I known that I would be costing myself dearly in LTE connectivity I would've resisted the ios6 update.
Maybe this is the wrong place to vent but the IPad's cellular connectivity is one of those perks that make it worth for me to pay a premium for Apple products vis a vis other tablet competitors. For the first 5-6 months I've been really impressed with the speed of the LTE connection to the point I was tempted to upgrade from the iPhone 4s to the latest model just for that capability.
But now I'm extremely weary as the rug seems to have been yanked out from under me here, not that the LTE connection has become any slower when I have the signal, but it's now its impossible to establish the 4g LTE connection in many places where I had four bars before the software update. Would love any answers or recommendations - fairly new to iDevices so maybe it's some mistaken setting I'm using, if so please advise - but otherwise it's left a very bad taste in my mouth, & I commend and co-sign with the poster above for raising the issue. -
Home share no longer works on iPad after ios5 update.
The home share icon is visible in video application but clicking on movies I have purchased results in an error message - cannot open. The images and info for movies and tv shows also not displayed. ...The problem has now worsened. Pressing the moeshare button to access the itunes library on my macbook progresses to half way and then stops. I have rebooted the ipad, shut down icloud, restarted home share from itunes and even rebooted the wireless router. I have also tried deactivating sinc over wi-fi. None of this work. It is worth noting that home share works on appleTV and that I have not updated appleTV OS for a few months. The next thing to try would be to reboot my macbook that I am not hopeful will achieve anything. I am just letting anyone who is experiencing the same problem know that they are not alone.
Update: After rebooting my macbook - Moves now playing. TV shows bought using a different apple ID account still does not work even though they did before.

Gettting itunes music/playlist back same way after new install of XP Pro
I did a full image copy of my hard to an external drive, then blew away my hard drive and reinstalled XP Pro. I've installed itunes 9.x and now want to bring back into itunes my music from the saved image on the external drive. Can I bring back my music and or playlists to itunes exactly the same including the "date added" feature? I have tried to do many things people and others suggest such as renaming <itunes library.itl> and other files, moving <itunes music library.xml> to the desktop, doing something with Previous iTunes Libraries. I'm so confused and STUPID!!! I have this <itunes music library.xml> files in both itunes and itunes music folders which are both in doc andsetting\myname\mydocs\mymusic\itunes\itunesmusic.

One was an update for BITS, one was an ie6/outllook express update, one was xp security update and one was v5 update ( to replace v4). Was getting the odd blue screen crash and slow load times but have fixed these, caused by services such as BITS, Workstation etc running when not needed.
Yeah the 9800 pro is not sharing power with anything
The fix for it just now (when xp doesnt load)is to manually hit the reset button, boot into safe mode. shut down again and wait 20 seconds and reboot, if that doesnt work do it again boot in safe mode and delete keyboard restart and boots up. though with old keyboard sometimes had to do this a few times. thats why though my keyboard was faulty.
Am now begining to suspect mobo is faulty, which i really hope is not the case as that'll be another faulty MSI part within 6 months. -
No fotostream icon in my settings on my ipad after re-installing everything
On my I-pad .... Settings - iCloud there is no option anymore to turm on photostream. . After many tries with password erro, my whol harddrive was swiped. i reinstalled everything with itunes on my pc. After everything was installed, I went to settings to activae fotostream, but this option was not available.
You must have iOS 5.0 or later to use iMessage. Go to Settings>General>About>Version, and verify that you have iOS 5.0 or later.

Photo sync with iPad after iOS5 upgrade
Following upgrade to iOS5 lost all photos & folders on ipad1, folders on windows pc won't sync when ticking all folders, only if using choose folder, if you try to select another folder it first deletes the previously syncd folder. Any ideas?
You need to sync all the folders/albums that you want on the iPad together in one go, as only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad. There is help on syncing photos on this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236

How do I import songs from external h.d. back into iTunes after re-install?
Hello.
Heres the story. I keep all of my music on an external drive (thank God) and have my iTunes music folder location set as that drive. After my system crashed, I had to re-install my OS and now I have no idea how I can play my music again from itunes. I don't want to put all of the music onto my iBook's hard drive, but I don't know how else to let iTunes know where my music is.
Sorry if I am not explaining this very well.
Any suggestions would be more than appreciated. I am about to drive across the country and really need to have access to my music or I will never make the journey.
Thanks...iTunes prefs -> Advanced. Set the iTunes music folder location to where your music is on the external.
Now go to iTunes menu File -> Add folder to library and select the music folder on the external.
