Having some trouble with my new 160 gb Classic

Hello all!
I recently purchased a new 160 gb classic. I synced it with iTunes and had no problems, all my music transferred fine. Now, I'm having a weird issue. My iPod is set to automatically sync. I want it to be set to manually sync so that I can erase songs from my library after they are on the iPod. I do this, and it works after I click apply, but then it goes wrong. I try and sync songs manually by dragging them to the iPod and it tells me the sync faild and to disconnect, reconnect, and try again. I eject my iPod from itunes and it leaves iTunes, but the screen still says Connected, do not disconnect. It never changes to the Okay to Disconnect screen. I disconnect the ipod anyway, and then if I plug it back in, iTunes doesn't recognize it. If I quit iTunes at this point, it will not re open. I have to Force Quit it and after I do, it still won't open. The only way to fix it is by restarting my laptop. When I do this, iTunes recognizes the iPod again, but it is set to automatically sync, starting my problem all over again. Does anyone have any idea what I can do?

In your iTunes Preference->Devices
Tick ON - Prevent iPods, iPho... from syncing automatically.
     Click OK
Then in your Device Summary, -> Options
tick ON - Manually Manage Music and videos.
Good Luck!

  • I'm having big trouble with my new mainboard: Part II

    Hi
I haven't got any more replies to my post "I'm having big trouble with my new mainboard" by Krelian 2003.09.13 at 05:25. Please help! I've been struggling with this for a LONG time. And now my computer won't boot at all! Sometimes the LED's in front of the computer lights up for half a second, and nothing more happens. The only sign of life is the green light in the LAN jack. It happened after I took the ide cable for my harddrive in and out of the mainboard. This is insane, how can that suddeny happen :O ?! I was asked by wonkanoby to post max amps for my PSU, I did, and I really need to know if I maybe need a new PSU, since he asked that. Can a new PSU solve all the problems mentioned in my previous posts? Everything was fine except that I couldn't get into Windows, before i tried another harddrive on my computer. How can that complicate things so much? I have tried going barebone, and taking out the cmos battery and setting the jumpers JBAT1, J10 and J11. I have also tried every suggestion I got. Please help! I really need to get this fixed!

Some power supplies or designed so that if there is a short or overload they shut them selfs off and some will not turn back on. Some have a relay that will click back on and work, some you have to  cycle the power switch. Those that won't come back on will have to be replaced. I'm not saying that yours is that type as I have no way of telling. But if you have a friend who will loan you a good power supply you might try it. As someone else said just turning off the power will not darn all the power from some motherboards. To test this turn off your power supply than turn on the computer with the start botton. Mine will flash the lights and fans will start to spin than die. So every time you turn off computer to work on it. After turning off PSU hit the start botton to drian any power left in it before working on it. Also do this after unplugging it just to make sure.

  • I'm having big trouble with my new mainboard.

    Please help!
I've bought myself a new mainboard, a MSI K7N2 Delta-L. I was having trouble getting Windows XP to detect my harddrive, but then I found out that I had to to first format my harddisk. But now I've got a new problem. I first tried a different harddrive on my computer, to see if something was wrong with my harddrive. But, there wasn't, since I tried my harddrive on another computer, and it worked. So, when I put my harddrive back into my computer, I can't enter BIOS. The screen either turns white, or some colors appear, and nothing happens. If I start without trying to enter BIOS, the same thing happens after detecting IDE devices (which takes an unusally long amount of time). When the white screen is up, my CD-rom tries to start my Windows XP cd several times, but, nothing happens. How can I get my computer to start normally, so that I can reinstall Windows and live happily ever after.

I pulled the jumper out of my harddisk, and it detected IDE devices extremely fast, as it should. But, I still can't enter BIOS. After detecting IDE devices, the screen turns white, but not for long, I could hear the harddrive booting, and the Windows XP boot screen appeared for about half a second. Then the computer restarted, and the same happened again.

  • I am having some trouble with receiving messages from iMessage users when I don't have my iMessage turned on. When I called for support, I spent 30 min waiting and the woman's response to me was "Turn on your iMessage." I prefer not to use it

I have an iPhone 5s and a MacBook Pro. Ever since I updated my computer software to Yosemite, it linked my Apple ID with my phone number and I am not receiving messages from iMessage users on my phone, but rather to my computer. I don't like to use iMessage so I keep it off and would like to receive all messages as SMS texts. I have already tried changing my Apple ID password, logging off of my Apple ID in iMessage on my phone and turning it off, and changing settings on messages on my computer. Nothing is working. Either the messages continue to go to my computer or the messages trying to be sent say they cannot be sent.
After spending 30 + minutes waiting for technical support, the woman helping me (who did not give me her name) told me I should just turn on iMessage. After explaining that I don't like having iMessage on and asking why it worked for at least a year up until this point she said "things change and sometimes we don't know why things do what they do". She asked me about various other things on my phone such as bluetooth and told me to turn on and off airplane mode and the call disconnected. I have not been contacted since, even though she has my phone number.
I am hoping for some help and also hoping people don't get the type of service I received tonight.

I think you can solve your problems by removing your AppleID email address from BOTH the Messages setting on your iPhone and the iMessages settings on your Mac.
    On iPhone:
    Settings > Messages > iMessage > Dissabled
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > touch the "(i)" < touch "Remove This Email"
    On Mac:
    Open "Messages" application
    Click "Messages menu > Preferences
    Click "Accounts"
    Select your AppleID account
Under the "You can be reached for messages at" settings, uncheck your AppleID email address and your phone number
Then uncheck the "Enable this account" setting
And lastly, ask all of your friends with iPhones to delete all iMessage conversations (blue bubbles) in their entirety.
To test, send a friend a new text using their phone number (not their email address) and watch the color of the bubble.  If it's green then you are using SMS.

  • I am having much trouble with the new reminders in IOS7 and how it interacts with Outlook Exchange. Many features lost in the new version.

When I downloaded IOS7, I found that the reminders/task app and how it interacts with Outlook Exchange is much more difficult to use. Some of the issues that I am having are...
    1. Trying to edit my task on my phone is not possible, if the notes are lengthy. When you click on the text to edit data near the top, it will scroll to the bottom and not allow you to edit the text because you cant see it.
    2. Now all of my task are in one long list. I can not move from day to day like we could in previous version IOS6
    3. When I do edit a short task reminder and click done, it crashes and completly goes away. It does save the edit though
    4. You can only add task at the bottom of each days reminders. This is very inconvient and much more difficult than IOS6
    5. There is a major delay or latency when interacting inside of reminders in this version. Much more than IOS6. It is very unstable and quirky.
I have never seen Apple take a step back with a product until now. I am a huge Apple fan and always will be, so I am hoping they make enhancements to fix these issue. It is a big time prodcutivity killer.
Thanks for any and all help you can give.

  • Having some troubles with annotations, hyperlinks, images within PDFs

    Hello all.
I am having a few issues with my PDFs and I hope that someone can assist me.
First, I want to state that we are using LCES2 SP1, with Workbench, Designer, Workspace, PDF generator and Reader Extensions. We do not currently have Output.
    Situation:
I have created several forms in Designer that present the user with information from an XML submitted via a .net app. The info includes customer data, URLs to other pages and a URL to an image/s which I embed within the PDF for presentation.
In addition to the customer data, the forms present one or more embedded images from the XML which are different every time(dynamically embedded in form). We also present several URLs from the XML which I have hyperlinked. We also need to capture Annotations/markups on the PDF.
I have the dynamically populated images displaying correctly to the user. Annotations and the hyperlinks are basically functioning correctly as well.
    My issues:
The problems that I have encountered are:
    1. The embedded images that are presented do not show the annotations on them. It seems as though the annotations are marking on the PDF behind the embedded images. For example, if I draw a line across the PDF, the line is there but will not show on the actual images. Is there a way to push the images back and bring the annotations etc in front?
    2. The hyperlinks work correctly except that when we open the PDFs in Workspace, the hyperlinks open the page within the Workspace area. Is there a way to force the Hyperlinks from Workspace to open the page in a new browser tab or page? I have attempted to use the target="_blank" with no success.
    3. The annotations are being captured and collected ok within LC. I can see the updated XML which includes the markups etc. I have attempted to then use the updated XML to present the PDF, including the annotations, to the next user in the TaskAssignment. Even using Reader Extensions, the annotations/drawings do not display to the next user in their Task. However, if I open the same document using Acrobat Pro, the annotations are displayed correctly. Anyone have an idea what I am doing wrong? Do we require the use of Output to flatten the document with the annotations?
Thank you all for your assistance
    David

    Hi,
three years later I have the same problem as David posted in no. 1.
I created a PDF form in LCD with image fields and text fields that are filled within another software. In LCD I placed the fields in the background. After the pdf fields have been filled within the other software the user wants to add markups and comments on it.
But the markups on the PDF appear behind the images and texts. I need the markups in front, how can I manage this??
    Best regards,
    MiHue

  • Having some trouble with Apple Application Support...

So, I recently purchased a new 3G iPod Touch. I already had iTunes installed, so I did not think I would have a problem. However, it prompted me to update to iTunes 9. I didn't give it much thought when it froze the first few times and simply thought it was a download error, so I just stopped the installation process and retried. After letting it run, the process gave me an error message prompted from the "Publishing Product Information" status. I tried uninstalling all the Apple-related software on my computer in hopes that it would work to no avail. I received the same message. Then I tried going through this list of troubleshooting procedures [http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1926?viewlocale=en_US] which also did not work. I did some research and found that some individuals had luck with extracting each of the separate install processes from iTunesSetup and proceeding to install each one separately. One person claimed that by starting with AppleApplicationSupport, he somehow overcame the issue. However, once the installation process reached a certain point [also the Publishing Product Information status], the process froze and a short while later fed me an error message (the error reads: 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32",publicKeyToken="1fc8b 3b9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="x86"'. Please refer to help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x800736FD). I'm at a loss as to what to do now.

Some experimental advice in this context. (I generally try this for different install errors than the publickeytoken jobbies.)
We might be able to get things to go through better if we do a "standalone" Apple Application Support install, and then do the iTunes install.
    First, uninstall iTunes again.
Now go "Start > All programs > Apple Software Update". *Do not install anything yet.*
In ASU, go "Tools > Open Downloaded Updates folder". Delete any files currently in there.
Go back into ASU. Select the iTunes offering. Now go "Tools > download only".
After the downloads complete, go back into the Downloaded updates folder. Doubleclick on the AppleApplicationSupport.msi file to do a "standalone" AAS install.
Does that one go through okay this time?
If so, doubleclick on the iTunes.msi this time. If that goes through okay, does iTunes launch without the error message now?

  • I am having some trouble with Adobe Flash Player

I have tried to record an audioboo and when I press record the Adobe Flash Player comes up and asks to allow the mic etc... I set it up to allow but then can't close the box!? I have tried lots of times and it just won't close and hence I can't record the boo. I don't have a problem closing the flash player any other time and I have in fact recorded audioboo's before, but for some reason I can't now? Any help or advice would be great.

I have the exact same issue - but the funny thing is that it is only on my iMac - my MacBook Pro is fine and they both have 10.7.2 and the same latest Flash Player, so I think it might be a hardware problem to be honest.
Ever since upgrading to Lion my iMac has been that way - my MacBook Pro had the problem with the first update from Adobe but after the second update of the Flash Player everything is fine on the MacBook Pro.
How old is you MacBook Pro?

  • Having some troubles with Quicktime + ITunes

    Okay.
    The Story...
I don't use itunes or sync my ipod to much, and I like took my library of tinues out, and i planned to reinstall windows all together but I didn't so I tried to uninstall itunes and reinstall and just replace the library. ( wasn't exactly thinking i could just put the library back in and go. This was all done over a period of time. ) Well then everything messed up. I got errors and had to uninstall quicktime as well, finally got it to work and quicktime and itunes installed and when I try to open itunes it crashes right off the bat. I've installed older versions and the newer versions and it's still the same so I'm stuck on what to do, I've tried other methods of trying to fix it and none have worked. I'm kinda thinking my case isn't common. Sorry if this is long.
    Jeff

Silent quicktime failure is much rarer than silent iTunes failure. It has been a while since I encountered it.
It used to be associated with malware infection, so as a first step could you run a virus an spyware scan with up to date definitions.
A second opinion would be a good idea too. The Kaspersky on line scan seems to be good at detecting things but doesn't remove anything:
    http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner
Also check to see that your smart card service is present and not set to disabled. iTunes needs it and it is a quick thing to check.
    Start>>Run>>Services.msc
I am not around until tomorrow now. It is important to be sure you are free of malware before starting troubleshooting as that can interfere with a solution as well as causing the problem.

  • Having some trouble with importing audio and editing it in iMovie (iLife '11)

Hey guys. Hopefully some of you will be willing to help me with my problem.
Basically I have a video that I've imported into iMovie just fine, and I have a separate audio file that I want to lay over the video. I've figured out how to do this (throw the audio clip into iTunes, then import audio from the iTunes library browser within iMovie). My problem is that I want to have the audio clip I've imported from iTunes come in at a certain point on my video clip, and I want to completely mute the video's sound so that I can ONLY hear the audio clip I've imported from iTunes when that starts playing.
If anyone can help me on how to do this, or if I was confusing and anyone needs clarification please let me know and I'll do my best to replay as quickly as possible.
Thank you very much for any and all input!

Drag your audio track from the Music Browser directly onto the point on your video clip where you wish the audio to start. Don't drag it into the background, but onto the clip thumbnail in your Project. I'm assuming that you have already created a Project and dragged clips from the imported Event. All the editing has to be done in the Project - not the Event.
You will now see a green bar (ribbon) beneath the clip thumbnails, representing the inserted audio. If you click on the small waveform icon at the lower right below the Project thumbnails panel, the audio waveforms will appear (coloured light and medium blue).
You can slide the audio back and forth. You can trim the ends by hovering the playhead (red vertical line) over either end of the green bar until you see a cross-hair icon - click and drag inwards or outwards (subject to audio being available at either end). You can also click on the small gear icon at the start of the audio track and select Clip Trimmer - here you can trim the ends by dragging the yellow handles whilst viewing the corresponding video.
You can split the audio - place the playhead at the proposed split point on the highlighted audio track, right-click (or Control-click) and select Split Clip from the pop-up menu.
If you click on the small gear icon at the start of the track, you can select the Clip Inspector. Click on Audio Adjustments. Otherwise just double-click the green bar and select Audio from the Inspector. In the Inspector you have many choices for editing audio, such as, volume levels, ducking, fading, enhancement, equalizer settings and so on.
You can mute the original audio by double-clicking the video track (or using the gear icon), then reducing the volume in the Inspector's Audio tab. Another way is to use the Ducking feature. Open the Inspector for your added audio track and move the Ducking slider to the zero position - this will mute all other tracks running in parallel with the track you've inserted.
You can easily fade audio tracks in and out without using the Inspector. Open the waveforms by clicking on the waveform icon (as described earlier). At each end of an audio track you will see a small greyish coloured box as you hover over that area. Click and drag as far as you want to create an audio fade. As you do this you will see the waveforms drop in volume.
You can also select sections of audio in the audio track. In the bottom half of the audio track (with waveforms selected) click and drag to surround the selection with a yellow border. Now you can click on the volume line to adjust the volume up or down for that section. Drag the yellow dots to extend or reduce the fade on either side of the selection.
Hope this helps! I think I've covered the essentials.

  • Hello, I have been having some trouble with my mac after i bought it and used Migration Assistant, i.e. not being able to install some applications, such as adobe flash player. Anyone know a solution? Thank you!

I really wish someone could help me.
    Thank you.

Reinstalling OS X won't help you unless you erase the drive and reinstall from scratch. To do that you want a backup of your files so they won't be lost. If you can do that, then:
Install or Reinstall Mavericks or Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
OS X Mavericks- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Erase and reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
Now, after the successful first startup you will be in the Setup Assistant. Be sure you give your new admin account the same username as the one on your backup. When you get to the Desktop I suggest you install Flash from the download link I gave you earlier. Open Safari and see if Flash is now working for you. I recommend you reinstall only your data at this time. Redownload and install any third-party software you use. Be sure you get only the most recent versions and that they are compatible with Mavericks - App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.

  • Having some trouble with hidden and checkboxes on tabular forms

    My query is as follows:
    select distinct tt.name tasktype,ct.name costtype,htmldb_item.checkbox(3,1,NULL,'Y:N',':') "Add Cost", htmldb_item.text(4,defabscost,9) defabscost,
    htmldb_item.hidden(5,tt.tasktypeid) tasktypeid, htmldb_item.hidden(6,ct.costtypeid) costtypeid
    from acct.defabscost d
    inner join work.tasktype tt
    on d.tasktypeid = tt.tasktypeid
    inner join acct.costtype ct
    on d.costtypeid = ct.costtypeid
I have it wrapped within a function, which works fine. My issues are that I want to have the checkboxes function as row selectors. Basically, not pointing to primary keys (I have a compound primary key on this table). If selected, fill in the table, if not selected, erase from table. Also, My hidden items kinda contain the "primary keys". When I set these as hidden, I see the column, but there is no data. I don't want to see the columns at all, but when I set these to "hidden" in the attributes, I can't reference them with htmldb_application.g_FXX. Any suggestions?

I actually figured out how to get the htmldb_item.hidden part working properly. I misread the guide, thought it was a comma between fields and not a concatenation. Works fine. But I still need to get the checkbox to work like I want.
