How do you have your texts read to you on the Incredible? Is there something that's built into the phone or do I have to download an app?

The Droid Incredible device does not include an application to read out your incoming messages. Such application may exist in the Android Market.
Please keep in mind that Verizon Wireless does not support third party application and if you need any technical support for third party applications only the application developer can provide assistance.

How to hide cut/copy/paste/Replace… menu on the UIWebView when it is being displayed over the keyboard.
Detail: I am having a HTML from, having text box, displayed using UIWebView. If user types in text box it shows the keyboard. Now If user tap and hold on text box it shows a popup menu. Now while keyboard and pop up are being displayed user scrolls the view. At this time it shows pop up over the keyboard which I need to hide.
I tried setMenuVisible of UIMenuController when popup rect and keyboard rect intersects each other on viewDidScroll but it didn't help me.
Any clues will help a lot.

Accessible pdf alt text read twice by on-screen reader

We are working on a math text book. We are currently creating an accessible pdf in addition to a text book for people who are visually impaired. We have ordered our text such that the on-screen reader reads the pages in the correct order and have tagged sections appropriately. However, some paragraphs contain several symbols that the on-screen reader cannot comprehend and for those we have made figures and inserted alt text that literally explains the equations. The problem is that the on-screen reader will first read the alt text but then will proceed to read the text itself that we are trying to replace. Thus many paragraphs are read twice. Please advise.

Alternate Descriptions:
PDF documents may be enhanced by providing alternate descriptions for images, formulas, or other items that do not translate naturally into text.
But, you have content that does translate naturally into text. So, you get the alternate text entry and the content that is naturally renderable.
Consider use Replacement Text (Actual Text) or, when appropriate for abbreviations/acronyms, Expansion Text.
However, if the characters are naturally renderable, there is no need for any of these.
Do apply the PDF element for "formula" to the equation content.
Only use alternate text descriptions for image/graphic objects present in the PDF.
Avoid having other tagged content being associated with a child tag of a tag that has alternate or actual applied.
You may find having a copy of ISO 32000-1:2008 available helpful.

When I click email links on firefox, it won't open my AOL email client to continue, I get "The file may not be supported by AOL, AOL will try to open it as a text file if you choose to continue" how to fix?

When I click email links on firefox, it opens AOL, but comes up like this.. "The file may not be supported by AOL, AOL will try to open it as a text file if you choose to continue" how to fix? and yeah, I know, ditch AOL and all that good stuff, but I have so many things tied into my email address that it's not in the cards atm..

That file might have moved to a different location on the server. I think you'll need to check with RefWorks support or your local IT department on why the install page links do not work.

Yesterday I searched the Internet for the meaning of the different card speeds. I came across the following Windows Mobile Team Blog website which explains that: there is no standard to the speed of the cards! The website is:

A few years ago I did a simple test where I plugged an SD card into a desktop SD reader, copied 30M of files to it, timed the copy with a stopwatch, and then repeated the procedure with different cards. I literally found some cards that finished in 30 seconds while others took 80."

The memory cards can only operate at the speed that the device you are using them in can handle.
If you use a 80x and a 150x memory card in a device that can handle a maximum speed of 80x then both cards will run at 80x.

The results of the performance tests are usually carried out when the card is brand new and with no data on it. This can be a little misleading with the day to day performance of a card.

When will Apple have a searchable text reader and upload file capability? I have a large text file I need to upload to my iPhone, search, and dial.

I had a Palm the I used for work and travel it had a very nice application called DOCUMENTS TO GO. It allowed you to upload, view, and edit .doc, .xls, and .ppt files. this was very handy when traveling. Also, I could sync my palm with my iMac and work PC using bluetooth, took care of the file transfers as well. I would like to have the same capability on my iPhone. I bought it to replace all of my old stuff i need it to the same as my old stuff. I hope that Apple reads this and gets on the ball. Until then I still have to carry my Palm or thumb drive on trips.

Making existing text read-only

I need to make existing long text read-only in transaction MSC2N. But user should be able to enter new text. I didnt find any user exits when the user goes to text editor in this transaction. I found a badi but it doest seem to work. Could you plz guide me with this

I believe that site is actually using different background images in each state, but the same effect can be achieved with the tooltip composition widget, in which case you could use text.

HT4796 My downloads are only opening in the text reader, my downloaded programs are not opening to run

Everytime I download a program and select it from the download menu, the download only opens from the text reader. How do I get my downloads to open properly?

Are these downloads applications? Your download folder is just a "temporary parking" area. They need to be installed first - double/control click the file; this should open a finder window with either an installer that will automatically install it or it may show it and an alias to the applications folder. Drag the app onto that alias. You can then open the newly installed app from the applications folder or the Launchpad if you use it.

Is there a way to turn off text messaging while you listen to songs/videos?

I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a way to temporarily turn off text messaging while you are listening to a song or video? I find it very annoying that if I let someone listen to the videos on my phone - that while they are doing that and a text comes in - it shows up right on the phone for them to read it. This did not play out too well when my girlfriend was listening to it yesterday.(keep all smart comments to a minimum please, lol). Can you turn off texting while you listen and then turn it back on when you finish? Please say yes... Thanks

Nathan, thanks for that info....I appreciate that. That makes a lot of sense (what you said about airplane mode) and seems to be a good feature. I had been told a couple of times by airline personnel to please turn off my phone.
This seems to be the answer I was looking for. I just hope that it will still play in my car. I was finally able to find a Belkin Cable to connect it to to hear music. I have an auxillary port for it. That is where & when the trouble lies. When I am listening to the ipod portion - watching a video - and hearing the music come from my speakers in the car. All of a sudden, a text comes through and you can read it & it asks where you want to 'view' or 'ignore'. I'm gonna test it...

Thank you for your question, I understand that you would like to know if there is a browser available for the Firefox OS platform that asks for the desktop version of a site, instead of the mobile one.
There was a bug filed for this feature in the earlier devices of Firefox OS, however there is currently no ETA on when they will include this feature in the Firefox OS browser.
I understand that this news may be frustrating. However, the [Bug 833150 - Support "Request Desktop mode" in browser app in Firefox OS ] and other bugs for specific devices are bugs that I have found that shows it has been requested before.

When I start FCPX it stops with the blue-red window with the text Reading "Music at Siljan - day 5" event. Whatever I do it won´t open up so I can work. Do anyone know how to boot up? I tried to restart my computer but nothing helps.

It seems something is corrupt in that event. One thing to try is to temporarily move the folder for that event out of the Final Cut Events folder using the Finder. Then try to open FCP X. If it now opens, you know that event is corrupt. As to how to fix a corrupt event? Not sure there is a better way than reimporting the media as a new event.
