Having to do multiple clicks to get firefox to change windows

I had to get a new notebook because something died in my old one and one of the first things I do with new computers is to load up and install firefox.
This means I am now bebopping about on the net with the newest version of firefox and wndows 7 sp 1.
I normally run multiple tabs in the main window and a couple of other windows of firefox that may or may not have multiple tabs depending on what I'm doing. I've been doing this for a couple of years and firefox has not had any problem with this until now with the latest and maybe not the greatest version, 12.0.
The problem is that it is requiring multiple clicks of the mouse button to get it to change focus to the instance of firefox that I want to go to. When I click on the window, it changes but as soon as I release the button, it instantly returns the focus to the previous window and requires repeated clicking to get the focus to finally stick on the window that I want.

I've also noticed that this effect is between all the windows of the various programs running.

  • How can i get Firefox to change all the printable info on a web page print to black, so i can see the printout?

Firefox correctly changes the print background to white, but leaves the colored info as it was on the web page. My monochrome printer uses Grey Scale to interpret the colors, but most colors are interpreted with so dimly that they cannot be seen on the printout.
I am running Firefox 3.6.10 with Ubuntu Firefox Modifications 0.9rc2 and the OS is Ubuntu 10.04. I have disabled the Ubuntu Firefox Modifications Extension, but the results are the same.
    Thank You for your help!

Does Firefox offer to store a new password if you remove the old password?

Make sure that you not run Firefox in (permanent) [[Private Browsing]] mode.
    * You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
    * To see all History and Cookie settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting <b>Firefox will: Use custom settings for history</b>
    * Uncheck: [ ] "Permanent Private Browsing mode"

  • I am having trouble editing track names and information in my Itunes library.  Help center says click on selected track, click on file, click on get info, make changes, and press save.  When I get to get info, it won't let me change anything. Help??

How do I edit track names and information in my I-tunes library?  I followed the Help Center instructions, but it will not let me change anything.  Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Those symptoms usually indicate a permissions problem. See Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows for advice.

  • How do I get firefox 4 on Windows 7 to 'remember' to open on monitor 2? It keeps opening on the main monitor, only.

When you open a program in a multi-monitor set-up and transfer the program to the second monitor and close it, when it next opens it should open on the second monitor. Firefox 3.x performed this way. Firefox 4 does not -- it only opens on the main monitors, always.
Please build this into the product or provide an option for it?
    Thanks,

Update: I forgot something about the way BootCamp installs Windows...
I had temporarily turned off BlueTooth on OS X because I didn't need it, and when you do that, it effectively removes it from the system's list of devices.
So I just wiped the Windows partition, turned BT back on in OS X, and re-installed Windows. Just to make sure, I went through and manually installed all the drivers by hand and then let the BootCamp utility install them as well, and it's been working like a charm!

  • I click on the Firefox ixcon. Windows appears to start opening it. But it stops and never begins.

The hour glass appears, as if the program will begin. Then after 3 or 4 seconds it disappears. So I am unable to open FireFocx. I now have to use Internet Explorer (yuck).
It started happenming a few weeks ago. I would contunue to try to start the program and eventually it would open. Today for the first time, after dozens of attempts, it fails to open.

I understand that Firefox is no longer working on your Windows Tablet. The development of Metro did stop and has been discontinued. However what version were you on before this started to happen?

  • I'm having trouble using migration assistant to get data from a windows pc over to a macbook pro mavericks. It can't resolve finding the sources wirelessly.

I have installed migration assistant on the pc. I am running it as administrator. It says waiting to connect to Mac. I am running MS on the macbook pro (brand new) and it found the machine but keeps saying looking for other sources and I can't move ahead. Any ideas?

Resolved. Someone told me verbally what to do.

  • Why after viewing multiple internet sites, and closing out of them and Firefox, I cannot get Firefox to relaunch unless I restart my computer?

After I launch an initial website and go on to other related sites, multiple locations appear on the task bar. When I complete my web visits and click out of all the sites and close out of Firefox I assume that the browser is no longer active. When I attempt to restart the browser, it will not launch. When I close down my laptop, a message appears telling me that Firefox has to shut down. To me this indicates that Firefox has been running in the background when I have shut it down. The only way I can get Firefox to relaunch is to shut the computer completely down.

  • I suddenly started getting redirected when I click on my Firefox icon. Page says "Paypal and Firefox Simple promotion!" Paypal says it isn't theirs. I can't seem to get past this. I am afraid this a Trojan redirect or keystroke copier.

I'm not sure how or when it happened but whenever I click on any Firefox icon on my desktop, I get redirected to what appears to be a Mozilla Firefox page but there is a window on the screen that says "Paypal and Firefox Simple promotion!, Did you know that Mozilla Firefox is the most safe browser? Paypal trusts Firefox! Login to your paypal account using Firefox today and get 25$ promotion on your balance by next month!
    * This promotion valid only for VERIFIED account holders

    * Always proceed to Paypal by securely typing www.paypal.com in your browser.
then a button to click that says "contnue with xxx.xxxxxx.com"
this is where the button is for the url I was originally trying to get too.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs.<br />
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.<br />

  • Having trouble running multiple instances of Firefox in XenDesktop 7.1

We recently upgraded our Citrix environment to XenDesktop 7.1. We published Firefox, but only one user at a time can have the program open. When we try to run multiple sessions, we get this error message "Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system."
We've had it published in previous Citrix environments with no problems. How do we need to configure Firefox in XenDesktop so that multiple users can run the program at the same time? Thanks.

    I do not understand virtualisation.
I can however say that ordinarily Firefox needs each user to have a separate profile and for Firefox to open simultaneous multiple instances with separate profiles the ''-no-remote'' argument needs to be used.

  • How do I get firefox to open a new window when i click on a link in a webpage ?

When I click on a link in a webpage in Firefox, generally it opens the new page in the window i am in (though some times it does not). How do I get it to open a new window (or tab) each time I click a link.
For example, on www.bbc.co.uk if I click on a link, the new page opens in the same window, if I then click another link in the new window, again, it opens in the same window. To get back to the original window, I have to use the back button twice. Surely there is a setting so that all 3 windows can be open on separate tabs or separate windows.
I have been to the tabs window in options, but doesn't seem to make a difference.

Open link/bookmark in new tab in same window:
*Middle-click (press the mouse scroll wheel) the link
    *Ctrl+left click the link
*right-click the link, choose "Open Link in New Tab"
    Open link/bookmark in new window:
    * Shift+Enter on the link
    * Shift+left click on the link

  • When I try and open firefox now,I get a Run box that comes up and no matter what I click I get an error message.

I have had a problem on my computer with a virus and after several days running different programs to clean up my computer and once it was clean the people over on PCHF suggested I do some things to make my computer more secure. While all this was going on I upgraded firefox to the latest 3.6.12 update, and added a fire wall, (Zonealarm). I updated everything on the computer with the latest and the greatest.
I also was running a guest account on the computer as my main internet account and from what I understand the default guest account is not supported by the new zonealarm firewall so I decided to create another user account and then transfer all my user files off the guest account onto the newly created account that would have zonealarm support.
Before this time I had ie explorer and firefox both working on all three of the user accounts on the computer and after all this work I can only get firefox to work on the newest account. When I try to connect to the internet on the other two accounts I get a box that pops up, 'Run as' with several things to click and no matter what I click I get sent to an error page with an error message: An error occured while processing your request. then and error message ....Ref # 97.dzd0060.1291309687.11103569
Ie explorer will work on all 3 accounts but firefox seems like it wants to be hard to get along with. I don't think it is anything bad that is wrong, probably just a simple click of a box somewhere but I have read every thread on several forums over the past week and I can't find that box.LOL

  • When i click on the Firefox icon, a message about Torbutton appears. Wen i close the messag, i get a proxy error note.

I recently downloaded the latest version (15.0.1) of Firefox for my Mac. When i click on the Firefox icon, i get a display "Important Torbutton Information". It states "Torbutton is now always enabled. Click on the Torbutton for more information". I click on OK. I then get a display that states "THE PROXY SERVER IS REFUSING CONNECTIONS". I believe that i have two problems. 1. How do i fix the Proxy Server.
    (2) How do i access Torbutton?

  • I was no longer able to click on my Firefox icon and open . I uninstalled firefox and then reinstalled and I still cannot get Firefox to open. It says that the download was successful. What should I do?

I attempted to open Firefox as usual and when I clicked on the icon nothing happened. I uninstalled Firefox and then reinstalled. It said that the download for Firefox was successful but it still does not open. When I click on Firefox it now just says to upgrade Firefox. What should I do to get Firefox up and running again. I have a Mac and my Safari is linking me just fine to the internet so Apple says it is not a Mac problem but a Firefox problem.

I notice you turned off the setting that diverts new windows to a new tab. Since the new window will open in front of your current tab, it may appear that the current tab was closed, when in fact it is behind the new window. This hard to explain in words.
Do you want to switch the setting?
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Tabs
Check the box for "Open new windows in a new tab instead"
    Does that help?

  • How can I get Firefox to run on a network with multiple users logging on with the same user name and password?

I am trying to get Firefox running on a large network where I have multiple users that log on with the same user name and password. The problem is that when another user logs on to another computer the message comes up that their is already an instance of firefox running on that computer even though there really isn't. Only one instance can be run on the network at one time. I believe it is because firefox stores a shared profile as it thinks it is actually the same user even though it is being run on another computer. I repeat that each user that logs on uses the same user name and password but on different computers.

  • How can i get firefox not to open up when i click on a WMV?

i downloaded windows media player 11 and now when trying to watch a WMV saved in my documents instead of my media player opening up i go into firefox and multiple tabs open up very fast instead of my media player opening? i can watch other types of videos like MPEG and firefox doesn't open! but when tying to watch a WMV i just get firefox?

What I'd like to be able to do is:
Use "Show my windows and tabs from last time" ("Don't load tabs until selected" checked). If I close and open Firefox all my tabs are there. Once in a wile I know that I had, lets say, 20 tabs open when Firefox was closed BUT I want to open it without all those tabs... just home page or blank page. I was wandering if there a key I could press during start up to prevent Firefox from opening all saved tabs (like "shift" for Safe mode).
