Having to restore my ipod touch

I got an ipod touch for Christmas. I had to restore it a number of times. Called Apple and they told me to take it back - so I did - got a new one - now the same thing is happening. Anyone have any ideas or having the same problem?

What people don't want to consider with this type of device is that the computer is an integral part of it's operation.
If your computer is not functioning properly, or is not to spec, you will have troubles no matter how many Touches you get.
I strongly suggest looking at that before going nuts with the Touch.

If you have only restored from backup in the past, try resoring to factory defaults/new iPod since there may be some corruption that is causing the problem and corruption is in the backup.
If you still have a problem after restoring to factory defaults/new iPod the you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is n order.

The answer is that the iCloud advertising in Danish speaks of restoring apps, books and music and shows this, and in small print / gray print adds that in some countries this is not available. The Danish copy does not say that in Denmark the service is unavailable (suppose the English copy in US spelling showed the service, but did not say that the service was unavailable in the US).

After another couple of hours of hunting around, a Knowledge Base article in Danish turns up which begins by saying that purchases from the App Store, the iBookstore and the iTunes Store are restorable, but in small print / gray print advises which countries the service in fact covers. Errors 3000-3999 (3004, 3013, 3014, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
Check that your security or firewall software is not interfering with ports 80 or 443, or with the server gs.apple.com.
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (see "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you are using a proxy, try without using one.
Test restoring while connected to a known-good network.

Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.

I had to put my new ipod touch that i got last week into restore made because it was having problems. My ipod touch doesn't even turn on and show the connect to itunes icon anymore. I plugged it back into my computer (windows xp) and I open up itunes. Itunes says that there is an ipod in restore mode that needs to be restored before using it. try reseting your ipod by holding the home button and the sleep/wake at the same time until the apple logo appears on screen after you disconnect it from itunes.

I'm having issues syncing my iPod touch to iTunes. When i connect the iPod to iTunes, a message pops up saying "iTunes could not connect to 'iPod Touch' because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter a passcode on the iPod before it can be used with iTunes." Yet when I unlock the device, the only screen available to me it the picture of a USB and an arrow pointing to iTunes so there is no way for me to enter a passcode. I tried going into "My Computer" to view the files of the iPod, if i could possibly reset the iPod to its factory settings yet the connected iPod is not present. Is there any way to possibly reset this iPod or is there a software problem?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

Can someone explain step by step how i can restore my iPod Touch to the way it was when i bought it? hate to do something and make a mistake. You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.

I have been having problems with my iPod touch and my WRT54G router. I am so frustrated right now because after following the various steps mentioned in one of these threads, following Earthlink's prompts, and speaking with Apple, my iPod touch will still not work. It is connected to the internet but will not download the pages. It is quite frustrating. I have changed from WPA to WEP, I switched the 4th Generated key to the 1st. I've disabled this, enabled that. I've done just about everything. I updated the firmware. I made the switch from a partial bridge to a full bridge. Still nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any other suggestions? The one thing I have not done is enter the Apple code into the iPod which searches for website...-- I cannot access the internet with my iPod so this web address does not work. If anyone has been successful, will you please give me step by step instructions? Yesterday I was on the phone with Linksys for about an hour. Before that with Apple for about an hour and before that with Earthlink. How it is that I can walk into a Bread Co. or Apple Store and immediately connect to the internet with my iPod but I can't in my own house?? Everyone seems to think it is someone else's problem so I've gone around and around. Not one of the Linksys support personnel suggested I look here on this community forum. I had to pay the $9 fee to have advanced Linksys help but still my iPod does not work and when I called back, the man I spoke with seemed to think the case was closed because my PC, Laptop, and iPod are connected to the internet -- the iPod just won't download the webpages or get mail. My iPod's IP address begins with 192. I would appreciate any help on this matter

I had the same issues with my iPod touch & iPhone. It's a known issue with the touch & Linksys G routers. Go into settings on the touch & do the following.
1. Settings - wifi - linksys
2. Erase your DNS settings & input same numbers as in router
Settings.
3. Http proxy should be
in off position.
4. Close out & open safari you should now have a wireless
connection.
