My Daughter changed her Apple ID, not sure why. Then she changed it back to the original. She has lost $50 on her iTunes. How does she restore the funds?
How did she change her AppleID?
If she simply updated the AppleID (not created a new one with a new email address), log out then log back into iTunes store.

  • I am having trouble with my Mac Pro 2006

I can get it to boot up in safe mode only. Will not boot from a disk, will not boot up regularly, wavy pink lines across the entire screen, even after its booted in safe mode.  If I try to booted up normally I just get stuck in the grey/blue screen after the Apple logo.  I have done the standard troubleshooting, resetting PRAM, etc.  I ran the disk utility once I was booted up in safe mode and it said that both volumes were fine. I tried removing the additional RAM that I had installed, nothing.  The optical drive reads the disc when it is in the computer and I'm booted up in safe mode, but when I try to restart to boot from the disk so that I can run utility, it just freezes on the Apple logo.  Not sure what to do next, if I should take it to a professional or just remove the data that I need from the disks and scrap it. Help is appreciated if you can.

My Mac Pro 1,1 has new FBDIMMs, new graphic card, some SSDs in there, even USB 3 PCIe.
But anything could go or be suspect and a list or output from Etrecheck gives a better starting point.
FBDIMMs are easy to find on ebay and elsewhere.
The original memory is old, and might want to try with just a pair of new set of FBDIMMs instead.
Bad RAM can result in files that are garbage, even if the directory is fine.
There are some 3rd party programs that can help, from Carbon Copy Cloner to Disk Warrior.
SSDs are a great way to go. And start with a clean install with some new or changed hardware.
Finding a graphic card - and that would be #1 suspect
A Mac Pro 4,1 are popular, inexpensive way to go and are selling on ebay and Craigslist for under US$500.

The image and table detail the 15-pin VESA DDC2/E-DDC connector; the diagram’s pin numbering is that of a female connector functioning as the graphics adapter output. In the male connector, this pin numbering corresponds with the mirror image of the cable’s wire-and-solder side.

  • I am having trouble changing my macbook password i try entering my current password but my computer does not regonize it and i can not change it what do i need to do please help!!

i need help i can not change the password it does that shaking boz thingy even thoough i put the correct password in

Do you have a recovery partion.
When you forgot the password and you can't use OS X, you have to use the new Recovery.
To boot in Recovery system, press Command and R keys in boot and hold the keys until you see the Apple icon. If you have a Mac with Internet Recovery, read > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718. If your Mac has got a wireless keyboard, hold them when you hear the startup sound
When it starts, select Utilities > Terminal, and type:
    resetpassword
Press your user and type your password. Finally, reboot.

  • No more iSight, so which Webcam can I  buy for Mac Pro tower?

I have a new Mac Pro tower with 23" Apple Cinema display.
I need to buy a FireWire web cam. Dosn't need mic as I have headset, but won't matter if mic is built in.
I wanted iSight, but Apple don't make them and they area expensive used (UK price used is £100).
Can anyone recommend a decent web cam for use with Skype and iChat AV?
    Thanks.

What there were are at the bottom of this page http://homepage.mac.com/john_kenn/video.html
You may find someone still has them on the shelf.
You do realise that OS 10.4.9 and above will use a USB Video Class camera without drivers ? (They are now in the OS).

  • Having trouble with my internet speed on Mac Pro tower.

    Hello all.
I just had an AirPort card installed into my Mac Pro Tower (2.66 GHZ Quad-Core Intel Xeon, with 3 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 internal memory, Running OSX 10.6.4), and the internet is running, but at a snail's pace compared to my Mac Book Pro (2.66 Ghz, Intel Core 2 duo, 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 internal memory, running OSX 10.5.8). I ran speed tests on both of them, the Mac Book pro is running at around 20 MBPS while the Tower is tops out at around 5 MBPS.
Anyone else having these kinds of issues? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mac Pro airport wireless is poor at best.
I'm going to try BearExtender. I can't hang with the internal card anymore.
Had a G5 in the exact same place as the MacPro and it worked fine.
Have a friend that recently got a MacPro and he's bypassed the airport card because of such poor performance.

  • I am having trouble on older mac book pro working in Preview its like being on old PC

My newer 3 year old mac book pro is broke and i am using the older one ( lion) to do some work and having to use preview because i cant reinstall all software on this as well.
I am having trouble on older mac book pro working in Preview.
Why is Preview bad on older machines?

    Have you reset the SMC?
    Shut down the computer.
    Unplug the computer's power cord.
    Wait fifteen seconds.
    Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
While you're at it, resetting the PRAM won't hurt anything and 'might' help is SMC reset didn't work (PRAM does some port control):
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
Something else you might try .... you don't say how you're updating to 10.6.8, however, if you're using Software Update, you might try downloading the 10.6.8 combo update, which contains all updates to 10.6. Sometimes, Software Update doesn't work quite right, and installing the combo update fixes that. Download the update from Apple's download site at http://support.apple.com/downloads/ , using Disk Utility repair permissions, apply the combo update, then repair permissions again.

  • TS1362 I have a Mac Pro tower, am running osx and iTunes will not work.. It basically just stopped working after having run faultlessly for...years... I can see all the songs, playlists etc, but the progress bar will not progress..it's 'stuck'. Suggestion

I have a Mac Pro tower am running OSX and iTunes will not work. It has always worked flawlessly. I can see all my iTunes content- my playlists, my songs et cetera, But I cannot play anything. The progress bar is  'stuck'...any suggestions?

Thanks. I have been using iTunes since its inception and have never had a problem...I'm using the latest version. The progress bar is the bar that moves when you're playing a song..it just won't start when I double click on a song,..have tried quitting, rebooting etc but nothing works. Apple are useless-they have told me twice they've tried to call me 'momentarily', but I've been waiting by the phone, and they definitely have not tried to call...

  • Monitor goes dark on 2008 Mac Pro Tower with ATI Radeon 5870 Card

I have a 2008 Quad Core Intel Mac Pro Tower running 10.6.8.
The original graphics card had trouble with HD movies of any kind and eventually my screen would sometimes not turn on (stayed black) when the computer was turned on.
So I replaced the graphics card for both reasons to a ATI Radeon 5870 PCIe with a GB rather than the 256 that came with the machine.
The problem was solved. I got a new monitor, one that is like the latest ones and all has been working great for a few years.
Then recently the monitor started going dark while the computer was on. (no screen saver or anything like that, I can be in the middle of work on a photo or video).
    Trouble shooting I have tried.
A forum said drag the mouse to the hot corner for a while and then back. Well, I tried, assuming I was dragging the mouse to the corner. Didn't work.
I tried using the keyboard commands to shut down the computer. It didn't work.
I tried plugging the keyboard into other USB ports and tried to shut down the computer. No luck.
The only thing that works is shutting down the computer with the power button.
on start up the monitor is back on.
Sometimes it works for days like this, other times the monitor stays on only minutes.
The monitor is fine. Tested my old monitor on the computer to make sure it wasn't my new monitor.
    So the questions are:
    Can it be over heating?
is it worn out, toast, done and or dead and dieing?
Should I buy a replacement graphics card VS finally upgrading and getting a new computer (lots of $$$$ but then I do work in HD Video so....)
    any help is appreciated
    thanks
    john

Replacing FBDIMMs would be today inexpensive and worth doing.
No one knows if heat is an issue without your using thermal sensor monitor. Probably want to up the default fan speeds while at it.
And because you don't have Lion+ then even more reason to setup a small maintenace volume on another drive with OS X basic system for repairs. In fact you should always have a bootable backup or two  you can rely on.
Restarting may work, or it  may be you have now new issue with corrupt fies or directory that a safe boot even is no guarantee of fixing.
When in doubt, try a clean new OS install on another drive.
    And FBDIMMs: $25 for a 2x2GB set on Amazon.com
You want to get  the most out of what  you have, a small investment  in RAM,  maybe recycle those drives for 2-4TB units. And an SSD will have system responding better and perform better.
My guess, the 5870 wasn't needed and was overkill and a 5770 for almost  half would have been more than adequate.

I am having trouble Installing Acrobat XI Pro... I'm receiving an error that says I need Adobe Application Manager to verify my license.  Each time I try to install Adobe Application Manager 8.0, I receive an error that says the installer failed to initialize.  I am then directied to download Adobe Support Advisor, which, according to your website, doesn't exist any more.  I am now stuck.  Please help.

Clifton I must disagree with you on the above statement. It is my opinion and experience that you should never connect the camera directly to any computer, Mac Windows Whatever.
It is always best to Remove the memory card from the camera and put it in a card reader, whether an external reader or one built into the computer, to copy images from the card.
Hi Shootist. I would be interested in hearing some reasoning on this. I almost always use a USB cable to connect my camera to the MBP for transferring pictures, and have moved about 30,000 this way over the last 6 years since my photography went digital. Recently, on the rare occassions when I have only a few to transfer and I was too lazy to go for the cable, I have used the card reader; about half those times I have difficulty getting the MBP to recognise the card. I find I have to press the card very hard into the slot for it to be recognised.
My rationale is quite possibly wrong, but I feel that the USB connectors are more robust and hard-wearing than the flimsy connectors on an SD card. Also, I haven't measured it, but I think the data transfer is faster with the cable. (I just came across this test, which reports noticeably faster transfer for cable than built-in card reader, but the computer was a PC)
Chiara, sorry for hijacking your thread.

  • Logic 9 "disc too slow"  2 TB drive for recording audio on Mac pro tower, lots of system HD space 6 gigs ram?????

I purchased a Mac pro tower in 2008 it has a 320 GB system drive with lots of room left I have 2 500 GB drives and just purchased a new 2 TB 7200 RPM drive just to record from Logic onto it. I have 6 GB of Ram. I have been having this problem for years and I'm getting quite sick of it!.. I just set up a new 24 track project and I'm recording into logic via firewire with my Presonus firestudio and 2 digimax FS units at 44.1k and cant even record a few songs without it stopping in the middle of recording. This is sooo frustrating. Imagine when the band comes up with something cool and asks me to play it back and walk up to my $4,000 mac with my $500 worth of Logic to see it say Disc too slow!. I have seen this problem on many forums. Mac needs to fix this!. It makes me want to make a youtube vid of me burning my Mac with lighter fluid in the yard!. I purchased the "best of the best" at the time and Logic wont even work on a brand new Mac pro properly!?.. Cmon Apple help me out here???

Now that I've had time to stew over your comments. I do appreciate what you are saying however there should be another way to remedy this problem without having to purchase anything (ie in the software or an update, new version from apple). I ran a recording studio for Several years. I also did put a lot of thought and research into purchasing my Setup and had many compliments on the sound quality. What I'm saying is that Logic 9 should have no problem functioning on my computer. I think mac has made a poor product. I bet if I purchased the Pro Tools equivalent to Logic 9 that i could record 24 channels till the cows come home and get no errors. What I need to know is if there is something that I havent tried in my settings or software that can fix this. I think 6 gigs of Ram should be more than enough to work with. Here is what Apple has to say:
    Minimum System Requirements
    2GB of RAM (4GB recommended).
Display with 1280-by-768 resolution or higher.
    OS X v10.6.8 or later.
Minimum 3.4GB of disk space. (19GB of optional content available via in-app download).
So why should I have to purchase any Ram when it's supposed to work on only 3.4 gigs?... That's why your answer frustrated me. I meant no personal insult. I just think there has to be a better answer out there. I do appreciate your input though .

  • Max ram size for a quad core Mac pro tower?

I have a 4-Core, Xeon 3500 series, 3rd gen Mac pro tower with four DIMM slots and would like to know what is the largest size ram I can put in each slot and what is the best configuration for that ram?  My main concern is maximizing the rendering speed of Final Cut Pro X and I have read that since it is a 64 bit program it can utilize much more ram than the previous version.
Can I get the benefit out of 8G sticks?  Is it better to have the ram spread across multiple slots??
    Thanks!

Just installed my 3 new 8G sticks and I see NO DIFFERENCE WHATSOEVER!!!!  And now suddenly the cooling fan has kicked in to overdrive and is buzzing away - this is such a great result of spending over $300!  What a waste of $$$$$$
Sometimes when you change hardware configurations --  internal drives, dimms. video cards -- it may help to do a smc reset.
If adding memory didn't change your performance perhaps you should look at how much disk space you have for your boot drive or consider a ssd as a boot drive.
