Having trouble burning images to cd, get error code 0x8002006E - what is it?

Hello all, I am having trouble burning images to a cd, I get error code 0x8002006E - what is it?  I have an older MacBook Pro, OSX 10.6.8.  Help!

You might also try SMC and PRAM resets:

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379
And you might try deleting the "com.apple.finder.plist" in your Library.
Ciao.

  • My Mac OS X 10.4.11 will not write DVDs and gets error code 0x80020022, what is wrong?

My Mac OS X 10.4.11 will not write DVDs and gets error code 0x80020022, what is wrong?

That code is not really useful since it just means it can't write DVD's (or probably CD's).  The only thing you can do is first to try a different brand of DVD's, higher quality.  You could also try burning at a slower speed.
Based on the fact that you are using an OSX that's no long supported, there's probably not much you can do to correct this issue if it is software related.  You may also have a failing Super Drive, another consequence of an older Mac.

Hi, I am running the latest Lion update, on my MB Pro, and keep getting the error code 0x8002006E when trying to burn a DVD. Could this be a dirty lens issue in the drive. I see that many others have had the same problem, but relly cant seem to find anyone that has a solution that works.. Help

It's an error thrown by Mac OS X's DiscRecording framework (as opposed to an error communicated by the drive's firmware). The message is (as you probably saw)
"The burn failed because of a medium write error."
Could this be a dirty lens issue in the drive.
I don't think there's one single cause for this error. It might be a dirty lens. It might be something else. Not all recordable optical discs work well with all burners. Try a different brand.

  • Error code 0x8002006E what's going on Apple?

Okay, so everything was fine for over a year and i get this error 'error code 0x8002006E' coincidentally, it happened only a moth or so after installing Leopard. I find that i can read cd's and dvds perfectly fine, but when it comes to burning them i get that error code.
having done some research over the net and browsing like a million forums i cam across a guy who said he reinstalled tiger and the problem was gone. then as a test he installed Leopard again and the problem was back.
now this is clearly an operating system problem. i want to know is apple plan to rectify it, because after all, it's a glitch in their system. this is an apple issue. does the upgrade to 10.5.3 solve the problem?
there are thousands of people with this problem. if we all come forward then they will have to do something about it.
in the mean time, can anybody tell me how to fix the problem.
    cheers

Really? Thousands?? Because a search of these forums for "0x8002006E" pulls up exactly 70 posts, including yours. Even Google only produces 657 hits.
The general theme seems to be that you should try a different brand of discs, or zapping the PRAM, or if those steps don't work your drive may be on the way out (in which case the solution is to contact AppleCare for a replacement, or buy an external drive).
    Hope this helps...

  • Burning to DVD, now getting error message.  What do i do?ng t

I use Verbatim DVDs as I've always done to burn my DVD's. I think a few weeks ago I may have turned off the "verify" discs after burning option thought I can't seem to find how I did it or how to turn it back on.
I'm not sure if my current problem is related to this but I am receiving this error message after burning most DVDs:
"This disc could not be verified and might be unreliable. Try again using a new, blank disc. (error code 0x80020063."
When I go into the DVDs, all of the files are there (typically video clips I am burning) but some of them will not let me fast forward or jump ahead when watching the videos (which I need to do). I must sit and watch the entire video clip. If I try to fast forward or jump forward, the video clock will run but the video stays where it was. It's quite frustrating.
One more thing, I have tried burning at 1x (a slower speed) and no difference.
Is there a setting I need to turn back on to verify these discs? Any other suggestions?
    Thanks.
Message was edited by: Clayton Rhoades

I just dropped into the forums to see if other people were getting the DVD burning verification error (Error code 0x80020063). I've been holding off on the Tiger to Leopard upgrade until very recently. All of my must-have apps were anecdotally stable and I was under the impression that 10.5 was too. Apparently reliable DVD burning is Tiger only, at least on my systems.
We've been burning Taiyo Yuden DVD's almost daily with Tiger with incredibly low failure rates. After what seemed to be a smooth upgrade of a Mac Pro tower & 2 MacBook Pro laptops (one is a Core Duo and the other is a Core 2 Duo) I've spent the entire afternoon troubleshooting until I ended up here. Some searching on the board leads me to conclude that this will be a bigger headache than I imagined.
I've done all the obvious stuff (varied the burn speed, moved the files to a different drive, reset PRAM & SMC, used a different account, deleted finder.plist, tried repairing the system with DU on the Leopard install disc and then I tried burning on different computers with different media). What I'm finding is that over 50% of my DVD's are throwing the error code during verification across 3 different models all running Leopard 10.5.2. CD burning seems to work as before (but we don't use this as much so ?). I saw that some people had posted that closing the finder window helped, but that didn't improve my overall failure rate. The DVD's appear (indentical byte size and item numbers) to be burned correctly and usable, but I need to be sure so I can't trust them.
We need reliable DVD burning for our business and this is a real problem. I was going to trudge over to the Apple store, but it doesn't sound like there's a real fix yet.

  • TS1436 I have Windows 8 and the latest iTunes software. Whenever I try to burn a CD, I get error code 4310. I have never had an issue with iTunes before. I need help.

I have tried to burn playlists on to multiple CDs and every time it gives me this error code (4310). This is a mjor setback. There's no reason I shouldn't be able to burn discs.

  • When I try to add music or audiobook to Ipod I get error code 0x8007045d- what's wrong?

Error code 0x8007045D comes up when I try to add songs or audiobooks to my ipod- any suggestions as to what's wrong?

The error message is " Attempting to copy to the disk 'Mike's IPOD' failed.  The disk could not be read from or written to."
I am in "manually transfer music" mode on the IPOD.  Some mp3 music files can be copied to the ipod via iTunes. When I try to copy serverl files, it will copy 1 or more, then hang up on  a file.  Sometimes if I try with that file several times it will finally copy to the IPOD.
The error comes up while I am in iTunes-- I assume it is referring to the IPOD, but I am not sure.  I am running Windows 7.
    Thanks for your help.

  • HT1926 Having Trouble Updating to iTunes 11 getting error Apple Mobile Device faiil to start

Can't get iTunes 11 to install. I keep getting an Apple Mobile Device Failed to start error

The frequently suggested repair steps listed in comments athttp://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 and http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1926 did not work for me yesterday when I attempted for an entire day to fix this commonly reported problem with the newest iTunes update. I now realize that I overlooked one step listed in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923.
My computer has a Windows 64 bit operating system. I should have  paid attention to this instruction:
"If you have a 64-bit version of Windows, you'll need to confirm that the following folders have been removed:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Bonjour
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes\
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iPod\  "
Tonight, I removed those previous version files from the Program Files (x86) directory and executed the rest of the steps listed. Success resulted. If you are struggling like I did to install the iTunes newest update on a Windows 64 bit operating system, you might benefit to recheck that you followed the instruction listed above.
