I'm having lots of difficulty captioning my photos in organiser and have repaired and optimized my catalogue - any ideas please?

Try adding captions via the properties panel. Right click on your first thumbnail and choose Show Properties from the bottom of the context menu.
You can enlarge the panel by dragging the bottom right corner. Make sure you are using the general tab. Enter your text in the caption field, then use the right arrow key to move to the next thumbnail.
It’s an alternative way of adding captions which uses less memory than opening images full screen.

Having trouble in running a unix command and getting the output

10.4.7 and Safari lock ups - Any ideas please?

I installed the 10.4.7, iTunes and Quicktime updates and have found Safari to be freezing (not responding) on random sites. I did get an odd message on the first attempt of downloading, which I have never seen before - 'Download timed out' - I redownloaded them and they installed without any other problems. I have run the permissions and emptied caches via Onyx Automation and manually cleaned the Safari cache. I haven't noticed any other abnormalities in the system other than Safari regularly not responding, although, I have not used many other apps since the upgrade. I'm currently using Firefox, which running like it should. This is the first time I have experienced any glitches with updates since the Java fiasco in 10.3.9.
Any input and advice is most welcome and will be greatly appreciated. My next step is to reset Safari.
Any other ideas please?

Silly rabbit, create a new account, name it "test" and see how your apps work in that User acct? (That will tell if your problem is systemwide or limited to your User acct.) This account is just for test, do nothing further with it.
Open System Preferences >> Accounts >> "+" make it an admin account.
Let us know and we'll troubleshoot this further.

all over songs, uploaded from cd's on my laptop and dragged into itunes will no longer play, a red circle with a red square in the middle appears and skips the track.
anybody know why Itunes / iP5 will no longer play all tracks, has worked for years, only stopped with the latest itunes update.

Trying to set up Time Capsule to MacBook Air but it only recognises the ethernet LAN connection and not the WAN Any ideas?

If I put the ethernet cable in the WAN port of the capsule my book doesn't pick it up but when I put it in the LAN one it does. Then it tells me it needs the WAN connection I tried rebooting in various ways including modem but I can't get past 2 problems i.e. Problem1 - Double NAT so I click the Bridge Mode and then it asks me to place the cable in the WAN port. As soon as I do it loses it. The light is flashing amber so its clearly a connection problem. Any ideas anyone?

The WAN port is for the ethernet cable that is coming straight from your modem/router.
Plug your computer into any of the Lan ports.
Once you're configured (and in bridge mode) it won't matter after that, but leave those details for later.

My 'zip code' says 'invalid' i'm from the uk and tried both with and without the space. any ideas?

If the register page will not take the information then I would give HP Tech Support a call. The agent will be able to quickly setup the account and register the printer to you. It will be a rather quick process.
In this case, it would be the most time efficient option.

I am having trouble printing 11x14 photos from 9.5.1 iPhoto. Can someone please tell me what to select?

I am unable to find how to print a 11x14 photo through 9.5.1 iPhoto. there are different page selections but I cannot find what to select.

In the Print window don't you have this option?
If not bring up the Print window from any other application, like Preview, select Manage Custom Sizes under Paper Size:
There you can add a custom size with the margins set as you want:
But if you say it supports 11 inch wide paper stock it should have an 11 x 14 layout.

I am having problems with migration assistant (windows pc to Mac 2011) When I get to the 'Quit other applications' box and click continue, nothing happens. There are no other apps running - any ideas, please?

I am having probems with migration assistant. Trying to transfer data from a windows laptop to iMac 2011. It was working fine when I did the set-up yesterday, but it was going to take hours to transfer some videos so I quit the process with the intention of doing it again at a later stage. However today I find that everytime I get to the 'Quit other applications' box on the Mac and click 'continue', nothing happens. Have checked mission control and confirmed no other apps running. Tried several times with the same result every time. Migration Assistant running on my laptop with the 'Waiting for mac to connect' box displayed. Mac is connected to wi-fi OK as able to use Safari and access internet. Any ideas, please?

Thanks for your suggestions. Have managed to get Migration Assistant working but now have a new problem, i.e. where does it save the transferred files?!! Searched a few forums and it seems it saves it under your old username, or suchlike. Anyway I tried logging on as a new user using my old user name but there were only a handful of files there, couldn't locate the majority of stuff from my old laptop. Anyway I don't intend to go through any more hoops with MA - will just save the important stuff to an external drive and transfer it that way. Not impressed with MA at all. I thought it was supposed to be a user-friendly tool to simplify the transfer from pc to Mac - not my experience, I'm afraid!

If you import the audiobook as an audiobook to your iTunes Library, it will be listed in the Books section of your Library. You may need to turn on Books in order to see them. If you cannot see the File/Edit... etc. menu, use CTRL B on your keyboard to make that menu bar appear. Then go to Edit/Preferences>Books and put a tick in the box.
But, if the imported audiobook shows up in the Music section of your iTunes Library, highglight the files (in iTunes) and select File/Get Info/Options/Media Kind>Audiobook. These files will now transfer to the Books section of iTunes.
Once on an iPod Classic, look under the Audiobooks menu. Again, you may need to change the settings in the Settings menus, in order to have the Audiobooks option shown on the Main Menu and/or the Music Menu.

Im new to Mac and I was doing fine with my new laptop but somewhere along the way I have reach to a point where I cant continue my work. I am having trouble on transferring photos from iPhotos to my Seagate External Hard Drive, even when the hard drive is compatable with my MacBook Air. Some how I have trouble trying to drag my photos to my drive and it is not letting me to do so. Pls. help me in my sistuation or derect me to a website that will answer my questions. I am getting really upset and frustrated; so I'm out of ideas.

What is the file system on that drive? Is it formatted MacOS Extended (Journaled)?
And what is your iPhoto version? iPhoto 9.5.1?

What exactly happens when you try to drag photos to your drive? Are you dragging from iPhoto's window to the drive?
Can you export your photos, when you select the photos on iPhoto and use the command "File > Export"?

HT201077 I am having trouble deleting individual photos from my iPad on shared photo streaming.

I am having trouble deleting individual photos on Shared Photo Streaming on my iPad 2. There is not a trash can or delete option. If I choose edit on the first page, and I try to delete, the next step is to cancel photo sharing, which I don't want to do.
