Having trouble charging the battery

I have a 15 inch Mackbook Pro that I am having trouble getting the battery to charge. I tried resetting the PMU and it still is having problems. I can leave the computer charging all night while it is off and in the morning I'll still only have a 50 percent charge. Do I need a new battery?

as suggested, make sure you try a re-calibration first. If that doesn't work go here:
http://www.apple.com/support/macbook_macbookpro/batteryupdate/
Make sure you install the battery update first and proceed from there.
there are known issues with certain older MBP batteries -AND-, important to note, Applecare and warranty are irrelevant. They will replace the battery if it meets the criteria on the above site.. period.
I just had mine replaced on an over 2 year old MBP 2.0 with no Applecare.
hope this helps.

I'm Having trouble charging my Iphone, do you know of a proper way of cleaning the charging port, or any other ways of fixing the phones charging abilities? 16g IPhone4

Clean charging port with clean dry toothbrush. If something more than dust, dirt, debris is present, clean with toothbrush and a small amount (drop) of Isopropyll Alcohol. The pins are on top of the dock midrib.

  • Is anyone having problems with the battery drains quickly and the iphone4 heats up in use and in charging after upgrading to 5.1.1?

Is anyone having problems with the battery drains quickly and the iphone4 heats up in use and in charging after upgrading to 5.1.1?

I have had the same problem but I seem to be getting somewhere to fixing it!!! My battery was going down at 20% an an hour now its 10% with constant use and 5 in standby !!! So improvement all round
First I did a restore then I drained the battery i started to charge it and when it came on I turned the phone off completely and let it charge to 100% I then left it for a couple of hours on charge at 100. I saw no improvement after 1st drain so I repeated the drain battery and charge steps again with the phone turned off when charging and have seen a very big improvement. I am going to do it again tonight and hopefully problem solved!!!!
The next issue is iMessage as that's playing up and wifi drop out
    Good luck

  • Is anyone having trouble with recharging battery on ipad4? It does charge but is very slow

I have a new iPad and it seems to be very slow in charging the battery eg 1 hour for 10% of charge.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem or am I doing something wrong?

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • My iPhone 4 has been having trouble charging.

My iPhone 4 had been having trouble charging for a while so i switched cords thinking that was the problem. That worked for a while then i kept having to switch cords every few days or it wouldnt work. As of last night my phone wont charge with any cord in any computer or in the wall or my car. I got frustrated so i turned it off hoping to preserve what little battery life i had left. When i turned it back on i noticed it had charged! The charge doesnt last as long as it normally did but it still works. When its plugged into the computer and turned on it doesnt recognise that its plugged into anything and doesnt start syncing or charging but if i go into iTunes it recognises the device is connected and i can manually sync my phone as long as it is on. Do i need to replace the charging port? Does the battery also need replaced? Has anyone else had this happen?

Sounds like the iPhone has a hardware problem with the battery, with the charging port, or both.

  • HELP PLEASE! I am having trouble charging my iPod Mini 4GB

I am having trouble charging my iPod Mini 4GB. I used it for approx 30 minutes until it died, and it will not charge. I have tried charging it through the USB port and also the wall charger - but nothing comes on the screen to say it is in the process of charging and it will not switch on. The trouble shooting section of the manual says there should be a thunder flash icon?? Any ideas please?
Could it be the internal battery at fault? Shall I buy a new one from Maplin?

my iPod mini is doing the same thing. i'll charge it all night through a wall charger (all connections seem to be ok, the charging icon appears on the screen). but i'll take it off and turn it on for not even 5 minutes and it wil turn off! i charged it for about a week once and i took it off the charger for again, 5 minutes, and the thing turned off on me. i've sent my iPod in for service before because it was frozen, but this battery issue hasn't happened to me until recently.
if i send my iPod in for a replacement, what kind will i get back? one of my friends said that if i sent it back in, i would get a 2GB nano. thats not enough!! how do i get more?

  • I need any help i can get, im having trouble with the app find my iphone. I have lost my iphone, checked on the computer, and somehow, took it away so how do i get it back??

    Help
I need any help i can get, im having trouble with the app find my iphone. I have lost my iphone, checked on the computer, and somehow, took it away so how do i get it back??

If you are saying that after signing into iCloud it is telling you device is not found, it could be for any number of reasons. If the battery is dead, if the SIM has been removed, or if someone else has the phone and they have restored it, it will not be shown. Also, if you located it once and then sent a remote wipe, it disables the abililty to locate the phone with Find My iPhone.

  • HT4061 hi,i,m having trouble charging my iphone 5 can you help me please

hi,i,m having trouble charging my iphone 5.it got down to 17% before i realised it but it would not charge from my wall plug and cable.i,m now using the cable direct from the phone to my pc.i,ve read this is a common fault but i need it fixed can anyone help please

If the iPhone still has Warranty or AppleCare, then it will be covered at Apple. If no coverge, time to buy new charger if you think you need one, as the PC seems to work for you.

  • Having trouble with iphone battery life ?

I bought the phone via applestore.com was delivered to my singapore address. The phone battery life is minimal does not hold for more than few hours and am anbale to reset or install any softwares as per battery life. If you could kindly direct as to wehre i can take the phone is singapore to claim warranty as am having trouble contatctin the apple support numbers.
    Thanks
    Munshid

No, no trouble really. Although I am the third owner of this 3gs, I find the battery pretty hard to kill. I think all you people with lag and battery drain problems have one or more rogue processes running. Maybe one of the various system info apps from the app store could reveal if this is the case.
Otherwise, try a restore or a restore as new.

  • Compaq nc6000 not charging the battery

    Hello,
I'm having a problem with a Compaq nc6000 I'm trying to fix up for a freind.  It doesn't appear to be charging the battery.  It will run off the battery and the external power just fine, but the charging indicator does not come on and the power management in XP doesn't show any increase in the battery's charge.  If the battery won't charge, this laptop will turn into a desktop once the battery is dead.  Does anyone know where the charging circuit for the battery is located?  I'm hoping it's not on the mainboard, but I expect it is.
Any chance this is a problem with the OS?  This is a laptop that came off-lease and there's something strange about the install of XP that's on it.  I can't put my finger on it, but something just doesn't seem right.

    Hello;
Two years ago I had this same issue. Bought a new charger. Still would not charge. Bought a new battery. That fixed it.
Now I am in the same situation....maybe. The charger registers as on AC power. It will keep the battery from going deaf, but will not charge.
If this was a mother board issue instead of battery how would you know?
So, even though this is an older computer I am considering purchasing a new battery.
As far as I know even in perfect working condition my laptop is not worth a dollar.
Laptops are more difficult to diagnose and I don't know anyone who will repair them.
    Wishing us both good luck,
                                            Chris

  • Is it best to fully charge the battery when you first get your laptop

Is it best to fully charge the battery when you first get your laptop?
I remember buying a bluetooth earpiece and I had to do that in order get the most out of the battery due to the memory it has or something like that..
    are macbooks the same??

I agree. I HATE having to wait for the battery to charge on my new Palms and Macs before using them - I guess GOD teaches us patience in strange ways (hee, hee).

  • Thinkpad Yoga S1 Runs off AC but won't charge the battery

I have recently purchased an S1, which is now having an issue that I can't seem to resolve on my own. The laptop works (almost) perfectly on A/C, but doesn't charge the battery. I noticed yesterday the battery was low (which was surprising, because I had only recently unplugged it) - so I plugged it in to charge. At which point, the battery icon in the system tray stated "8% (plugged in, not charging).I've tried the following to fix this: 1) Leaving it plugged in overnight completely off. 2) Running the battery calibration (fails w/ unexpected error). 3) Tried turning off battery optimization (Option is removed in newer version of drivers, so NA to my issue). 4) Tried reinstalling the power management drivers anyway (even though I already had the newer version). 5) Holding down the power button for 30 seconds, both plugged in and not plugged in (suggestion from forum). 6) Holding down the reset button (pin reset on the mobo) for 30 seconds, both plugged in and not plugged in. 7) Charging from BIOS. 8) Letting the battery run down to 0% in BIOS, then rebooting on A/C (another forum suggestion).  Now I'm just at 0% plugged in and not charging. Previously I said the computer almost worked perfectly, the almost is that the CPU is stuck at ~800mhz, even with all power management turned off (including Speedstep in BIOS) and the power profile set to high performance. Can anyone think of anything else I can try before I give up and send this thing back? It was working perfectly for the last couple of weeks or so, including getting ~ 4, 5 hours of battery life, so unless the battery failed very suddenly I can't imagine why it would just start refusing to charge.

well I replaced the battery with another one I bought (exact same model for the battery SONY 45N1705, I was hoping I would get another battery version because I notice there is an update for the other battery revision that fixes issues with battery stopped charging. http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds001322. I forced the bios update from 1.07 to latest 1.24 using olydbg to skip the battery check. this did not help with anything relating to the battery. now I am stuck again where I was at the beginning..... im looking at buying a board replacement.... also I was looking at replacing the power supply but I check the voltage and the amps, and it is correctly matching what is written on the back of the laptop. still getting the 0% plugged in and charging.

Is anyone having problems with the battery heating up and draining the power?  Mine has been doing this for about 2 months now.

This is a major problem with Lollipop, but yo said it started 2 months ago.   Several people have fixed problem by removing FaceBook And Face book messenger and then re loading the apps again.   You might want to clear your cache before reloading.  Not sure this is your problem, but worth a try.  Good Luck

  • I am having trouble keeping the quality of my video when exporting to my external drive.  I change the kind to "original" but when I view the video from the external drive once exported, the sound and picture are distorted.

I am having trouble keeping the quality of my video when exporting to my external hard drive.  I have tried to export from iphoto with changing kind to "original" but when I open the video from the external drive the quality is effected.  I have also tried copying the video to my desktop and then dragging and dropping onto the drive...same problem. Any suggestions?  I would like to save everything to my external drive so that I can delete all of iphoto library and then reimport to correct a few things.

The file sizes are identical.  In the finder I did a search for all .mov files.  Then when they came up, I went through them and named each one so that they would be easier to find.  I am a new mac user and am used to windows.  I realized later that I should not have done this....with a mac files should be named within iphoto app...not finder....When I went to open the videos in iphoto, it wouldn't allow me.  I had to go into finder, copy to desktop and reimport into iphoto.  Then the videos worked again.  However, I had the problem with the poor video quality when copied to external drive before that.  Actually the first problem I had was when I copied to ext drive...videos were copying as an image...so I learned that you have to change "kind" to original before exporting....then that problem was solved...now they are videos, not images but not of a great quality.  Skips, sound and images are not in sync...etc...
