Having trouble correcting Wireless Network settings

I have managed to turn on a feature on one particular SSID and am unable to correct this. When I open firefox or chrome while connected to this network, I get a bunch of downloads for php scripting. This only happens on that one network. Background traffic, such as Steam or OneWay(ftp client) work without issue.
I have tried removing the Network entry but any time I reconnect, the information has already been stored, and I can find no way of either getting rid of this information or editing the channels/frequency the network operates on.
Does anyone have any ideas? Command line or GUI is fine.

What do you mean? can you give an example? screenshot? URL? something?
For the most part, applications are unaware of the physical network setup, so they won't change their behavior based on the network you're connected to (the exception to this is the use of proxies in different Locations, but that doesn't sound like the issue here).
Without visualizing the different experiences on this one SSID vs any other it's hard (impossible?) to tell you what to change.

Do you even know how to nuke and re-set Photoshop's preferences, colorplak? Your last post seems to reveal that you don't understand what I'm talking about. Here's a link you can click on:

To re-create the preferences files for Photoshop, start the application while holding down Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS). Then, click Yes to the message, "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file?"
Note: If this process doesn't work for you while you're using a wireless (bluetooth) keyboard, attach a wired keyboard and retry.
Important: If you re-create the preferences by deleting the Adobe Photoshop CC Settings file, make sure that you only delete that file. If you delete the entire settings folder, you also delete any unsaved actions or presets.
Reinstalling Photoshop does not remove the preferences file. Before reinstalling Photoshop, re-create your preferences.
Note for Photoshop 14.1 and later: If you use Generator and reset your Preferences, Generator is disabled. Choose Preferences > Plug-ins to turn it back on.

Hi there, can you please post some addtional info so that the Cisco Network Magic Support Community here on the Linksys Forums can assist you? The info that is needed is as follows:
1. Your Network Magic Version installed: example: 5.1.8345.0
2. The type of connection to the Internet, like DSL, Cable, or Verizon FIOS Internet Connection.
3. The Brand of Modem and its Model Number the router is connected to.
4. The Brand, Model, Hardware Revision of your Router and include the Firmware Version: Linksys WRT54G v8.2 Firmware Version 8.2.05
5. The Method of connection your problem computer has to the Router: Wired or Wireless.
6. The Connection in use on the problem computer: Ethernet Port is a PCI Adapter Card, Linksys WMP54G v4.1
7. Operating system and version and Service Pack Level, if any. Ex. Windows XP Professional x64 Edition Service Pack 1
8. Software Firewall in use: McAfee Personal Firewall 9.0.136 Build
9. Also if any Anti-Virus Program or Spyware Program is actively protecting your computer. (Some Programs like Spybot does cause problems, not being able to go to specific sites.)
10. Include your location in the post or fill out your Profile for this forum and include the location. (Reason: Not all Routers from a given manufacturer are available everywhere.)
11. Post the link to your Router Model, if an off-brand Router or not found in the USA on the Manufacturer's USA's Website. (Why? Posters helping each other, aren't working for Linksys or Cisco, so make it easier on the posters helping on.)
12. And any other information you think is important if answering your own post, and the nature of the problem, itself.
13. By posting all this information, you can hopefully get help from someone that has the same equipment that you have and theirs is working. Not everyone has the same equipment.

You have to choose – one settigf or another.
The thing is.your HD clips will look better in an SD project than your SD clips will in an HD project.
WIthout knowing much more about your project and the kind of content, it's really hard to be specific. But generally I'd let my project settings be guided by what fraction of my timeline will be made up of HD clips and how much SD clips. If it's 75% HD, I'd probably do an HD project…and so on,

Where do I find the wireless network settings (setting up brother MFC)

Sorry if this is a really dumb question but the bloke at Brother said he couldn't help me because I was asking about an Airport Extreme rather than a router....
By way of quick background I am trying to connect my new Brother MFC-665CW to wirelessly.
Question 1
To do this my quick guide tells me I need to:
1. Write down the wireless network settings of your access point or wireless router.
SSID
WEP key (if needed)
WPA/WPA2-PSK (TKIP or AES) (if needed)
(I do know I have set up WPA Personal security on my wireless network via my airport extreme and have a 13 letter password.)

Later in the instructions it asks me to select TKIP or AES - how do I know which one?

The SSID would be the same as the AirPort Network Name. Since you set up WPA Personal wireless security on the base station, the type would be WPA-PSK w/TKIP.

You'll want to choose TKIP. AES is only used with WPA2 Personal.

Having trouble connecting Wireless Router to Network

Hey everyone, I ordered two Encore ENHWI-2AN3 wireless routers and am having trouble configuring the one I want to use as the wireless access point (other one will be used as a repeater.)

I disabled DHCP, and set a new IP on the local network. I disabled WiFi on the verizon router as well. When I run an ethernet cable between the two using LAN ports, and try to use WiFi I get a signal, but it doesn't go load.
I'm assuming I need to tweak something in the "internet" section of the Encore router, the main options are Dynamic or Static IP, PPPoE, PPTP and L2TP.
To clarify, I am not looking to replace the Verizon router, only use the Encore router for Wifi

Having trouble setting up network

Hi guys,
I just recently moved to a new house and am having trouble setting up the network with my airport extreme. There is a cable modem that is networked to the house so that every room has an outlet.
I connected the airport to one of the outlets with my macbook and when I create network, I cannot connect to the internet wirelessly even though the macbook detects a network when I set it up with bridge mode. But hard wired through the router I can surf the web as I am doing right now.
When I hit share an IP address, the internet does not work at all. It seems to work fine with my old netgear router, but would prefer using the airport.
I've also reset the airport as well with still no luck. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Have you tried powering down the modem for 5 min and then turning on with the ethernet connected to the WAN port of airport extreme?

Troubling extending wireless network with Time Capsule and Airport Extreme

I am trying to set up and extend a wireless network in my house, but it’s not working right. I have two Airport/Capsule units in the house:
2TB Time Capsule (Dual-Band II)
1 Airport Extreme (Dual Band)
I have the Verizon Fios router as my gateway to the internet, and also as my DHCP server. I have also tested the ethernet ports in my house to verify that they work, and that I can get a DHCP-issued IP address.
Now, my Verizon router has WiFI, and it’s still on. I am not using it though except to troubleshoot. So far as I understand, this should not cause a problem.
Base station setup
So I setup the TC to Create A New Wireless Network, on the ethernet network it’s on (Dlink switch plugged into Verizon router). I set it up in Bridge Mode (as opposed to having it dole out IPs, since the Verizon router does this already). The TC gets a valid IP, and my wireless device connect to it without a problem. I have checked “Allow this network to be expanded” under Wireless settings.
Extended station setup
The AE Dual-Band is plugged into the Ethernet, and is reset to Factory Settings. I name it “Airport Extreme 2” and I chose “I want Airport Extreme to join my current network.” The other two options are: “I want to create a new wireless network” and “I want to replace and existing base station or wireless router with Airport Extreme.”
I chose to “join,” I select “I want to connect Airport Extreme to my network using Ethernet to extend my existing wireless network.” The other options are to disable wireless entirely, or to “wirelessly join my current network.” On the next page it asks me to select the device or network that the Airport Extreme will connect to using the Ethernet. I set it to the Time Capsule.
Results:
Access near the Airport Extreme 2 is incredibly slow. Speedtest shows I am getting less than 1Mbps. Worse yet, my mail client won’t connect. It just times out.
What I had hoped was that the AE would connect via Ethernet to the network, and just bring the wireless network to the other side of the house. Instead it almost seems as though it is just re-amplifying the TC’s signal. Otherwise, why is performance so bad?

Hello Kennuff. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Since you have the ability to connect all of the routers by Ethernet, there is no need to configure the Time Capsule (TC) & 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) for a dynamic WDS (aka, extending a network). This option is only when the routers do NOT have an Ethernet connection between them.
Instead, you want to configure the TC & AEBSn in a "roaming" network. I suggest starting by performing either a "hard" or "factory default" reset on both.
Next be sure that both the TC & AEBSn are on the same Ethernet subnet coming from the Verizon-supplied router.
Configure the TC & AEBSn as follows:
AirPort Utility > Select the TC or AEBSn > Manual Setup > AirPort > Wireless
o Wireless Mode = Create a wireless network
o Allow this network to be extended: <not checked>
o Radio Mode: <leave the default or if you require a specific mode make sure both routers are configured the same>
o Wireless Security: <configure both routers the same>
AirPort Utility > Select the TC or AEBSn > Manual Setup > Internet > Internet Connection
o Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode)

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Difference between the 'WDS' & 'Extend a wireless network' settings?

I bought a Time Capsule & an AirPort Express with the intention of using the AirPort Express to extend the wireless signal in my home. After reading up on it a little it looked like I needed to use the 2 devices in WDS mode.
I had trouble settings it up in WDS mode & ended up doing it without.I set the Time Capsule to ‘Create wirelss network’ under the Wireless settings in AirPort Utility & the AirPort Extreme to ‘Extend a wireless network’ & it seems fine.
I’m just wondering what the difference is between this & WDS mode? And would WDS be better than what I’ve set it to now? (Would it extend the range better than the current setting?)

"Extend a wireless network" is an option only among 802.11n devices. It is much easier to set up than WDS and is potentially faster in terms of throughput because of the differences between n and g.
It's not clear to me, however, that the throughput of an "extended" network is reduced less in terms of a percentage than is that of a network extended via WDS.

Try:

My Macbook Pro running Lion 10.7 will no longer connect to either my HP or Epson printers. Both printers report that they are connected to the correct wireless network and until 2 weeks ago work perfectly.

My Macbook pro running Lion 10.7 will not connect via a wireless network to either of my printers, Epson and HP. Both printers report an excellent connection to the correct network. The Macbook reports "printer not found"
Until 2 weeks ago all worked well. Both printers makes me think some setting in the computer must have changed.
Any suggestions?

System Preferences>Fax & Scan. Delete the printers and re-add them back in.

Wireless Network Settings not Retained

Signs - when the laptop is disconnected from the network (either when the computer goes into standby or is shut down) all of the wireless network configurations are lost and I can't work out how to save them.
Network Setup:
Router - Linksys WAG54G v.2
Broadcast SSID - Disabled
Security Mode - WEP 128 bit 26 Hex
MAC address restriction - Enabled (I can connect to network so it's not this)
Authentication Type - Auto
Control TX Rate - Auto
Basically every time I need to connect to the network I have to enter in the SSID and the WEP Key. I've attempted to do this in Internet Connect, Network Preferences, and in the Airport menu. None of these give me the option to save the preferences.
At the moment I have the WEP key saved in a word document so I can copy and paste it in, but there's gotta be a better way than that!
Any help would be appreciated

Having trouble with outgoing email settings

I'm sure this has been asked a million times but am having trouble setting up again following a hard reset, shame the PC suite backup doesn't save these settings but that's another story..
What I have is, other than my personal details for my account..
Outgoing mail server: smtp.o2.co.uk (I have a yahoo maill account but the only way i've ever managed to get this working is to use the smtp server of my carrier, i.e. o2). have also tried smtp.mail.o2.co.uk
Accesss point in use: o2 active
security: SSL/TLS
port: default.

Glad it's sorted now as took settings off an iPhone for you, on N8 incoming & outgoing settings are inacessible which is a lot of use.
