Having trouble downloading from old computer, to load on new computer.

I need some help. Just bought a used computer and am trying to download some of the info on my old computer (WINDOWS 7) on a flash drive.
My son started the process but had to go. When I came home there was a message window that said something couldnt be completely down loaded and did I want to skip it, try again or delete.
I choose to skip it, then the window came up again and I choose skip it. Then the message window closed and I think the computer quit down loading.
Now I dont know where I stand on the down load. Is it done or is there more to down load and I dont know what to do.
When I plugged the flash back in the popup on the screen only offered import options, no download options.

I switched to the Linus operating system and I'm using firefox now. I wanted to quit using windows.
i have been using windows for a long time and have a lot of favorites, contacts and documents that i can't remember all of them. I want to download them on a flash drive for future reference, if needed.
I know its not a firefox problem but i need help to download my old stuff so i can move forward.

Since you did not indicate the nature of your problems, I can only make a couple of generalized comments. 1) Most people import/capture DCR-SR40/60/80 "muxed" MPEG-2 content using iMovie ('08, '09, or '11). This workflow converts the files to QT edit-compatible formats (all I-frame M2V video with PCM audio) that is compatible with both QT 7 and QT X applications. 2) If you are already trying to use this workflow and are having problems getting the iMovie application to recognize the media/camcorder, recommend you change the order of connecting camcorder, powering-up camcorder, and booting the iMovie app.

Having trouble installing my licensed LR 5 on a new computer. I have .exe file and also license/serial number. but I am asked only to buy or try.

Old computer died, and I am trying to install LR 5.5 on my new computer. I have run the exe file and have moved all my picture files and the LR data base files to the new computer. When I try to open the program (it is listed in my start menu and is in my system tray, too) a window opens that already shows as selected the option saying I have a license, but there is no way of going forward from that window. I could choose buy or try out or cancel. I'm obviously missing something here and would appreciate any help. Should I perhaps run the exe of LR 5 and then do updates to get to 5.5?
I have checked my Adobe account and LR5 shows as being owned by me. I have NOT downloaded the CC version of LR. I am running Win 7, 64-bit.

Just FYI, apparently, running LR 5 exe works as we would have expected, and
the link to update to 5.5 comes right up when the program is opened. Takes
some time, of course (and wants to create a new catalog as well), but it
does work.

from my old computer and tried to install the program on my new computer. It has now locked me out telling me it is still installed on two computers. It was completely uninstalled on my old computer. Help.

How do I download from a portable drive to my new computer?

My hard drive crashed. The geek squad was able to copy the info (including my photoshop elements 3.0 pictures) onto a new portable Hard Drive. I bought a new PC.I have hooked up the portable drive to my new pc, and installed Elements 3.0 on the new PC. How do I get my old photos off the portable Hard Drive and into Photoshop Elements organizer on my new computer? I seemed to find the catalogue, but it seemed to have problems finding links to the old photos.

That's great that Geek Squad found your catalog. I am surprised (in a good way).
Regarding the photos ... the catalog will recognize them if they are in the exact same folders and have the exact same file names as before. Hopefully, this is a simple move of whole folders from one location (the portable drive) to your new computer. If you don't remember exactly where they were before, go into the PSE Catalog, right-click on any photo, and select Show Properties to display the previous location.
As a last resort, you can try File->Reconnect but this may be very tedious.

I have an old iPhone4 & a new iPhone5 that I am dying to use but my laptop with iTunes on it died before my new phone arrived & I am a bit technically challenged. I have been given the use of my cousin's old windows laptop & I have created a new user on the laptop and installed iTunes but I cannot see any of my music, aps etc on there so I am not sure if I’ve done it properly. I can view my account details and that’s it. So I don’t know if I’ve done it properly. I have iCloud and have set it up on the new laptop too, I can see my contacts & calendar but I cannot see photos in my Photo Stream album where it said they should be, which makes me wonder if I have set that up properly either. I really don’t want to lose my latest photos since syncing my phone the last time. I do not know if I am able to retrieve anything from my old laptop at this stage but I’d really like to start using my new iPhone in the interim of finding out. Can anyone help me? If plugged in my old iPhone4 into this new computer would it sync all my stuff on there into the iTunes on this new computer? And then would I be able to plug in my new iPhone5 to this computer & it would sync all my stuff on to the new phone?

iPhones are not backup devices.
Use the backup of the old computer to put everything on the new computer.
Then you can sync the new iPhone and get all the content on it.

Having trouble consolidating iTunes library (to then copy to new computer)

The music on my iPod was compiled over time from various files on the computer. I am trying to consolidate all the music into a single iTunes library so I can move the entire library to my new computer. When I tried to do that, it said "copying files" and then I got an error message: "Copying music failed. The file name was invalid or too long." What can I do to consolidate my music? thanks

Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Start iTunes with the option (shift on Windows) key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.
To see your iTunes folder click on the Music folder icon in your Finder sidebar.

I am having trouble downloading an old version of lightroom

I purchased Ligmddhtroom 4 about a year ago and since then, have had two laptops crash. I am now on my 3rd laptop an it did not come with a cd/dvd drive. I need to download my version of Lightroom 4.3. There is nothing showing up in my ORDER HISTORY in my account. The program was purchsed at a store, and not online in the first place. What do I do? (other than buying an external cd/dvd drive?)

if you have a problem downloading, you didn't follow all 7 steps, or your browser does not accept cookies.
the most common error involves failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).

I agree. I don't rely on iCloud as a backup, that is what I have my portable hard drive for. Its 500 GB so I can hold my entire iTunes library several times over on it. I have all my movies on my hard drive, but somehow "The Mist" got deleted off of my hard drive, so I figured "Well, the option to redownload an already purchased movie is available through iCloud, I'll just do that!"
And permissions and download availability have nothing to do with it, the movie's still there, it still allows me to redownload it. The only problem is when I click download, I get that message.
And nobody else uses my computer, but I do have multiple accounts authorized on it. Even still though, I am attepmpting to download it through the account I purchased it under. :/
