In Mail>Preferences>Accounts tab>Account Information tab - from the 'Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP):' drop-down menu select 'Edit SMTP Server List...', choose the server you want to edit from those listed, click on the Advanced tab. Does that give you the option you're after?

I'm sure this has been asked a million times but am having trouble setting up again following a hard reset, shame the PC suite backup doesn't save these settings but that's another story..
What I have is, other than my personal details for my account..
Outgoing mail server: smtp.o2.co.uk (I have a yahoo maill account but the only way i've ever managed to get this working is to use the smtp server of my carrier, i.e. o2). have also tried smtp.mail.o2.co.uk
Accesss point in use: o2 active
security: SSL/TLS
port: default.

Outgoing email port settings

I am having trouble sending email throught my insightbb account via my iPhone as it keeps telling me to check my outgoing server settings. Insight tells me that it is because the outgoing server port must be set to 460, however I cannot find any way to edit the port settings on the account. Any ideas?

Not sure this falls into same message category, but hope you can help. I can't set up two mail accounts.
I have attempted to set up two Mail Accounts so that I have two different smtp out going options. At home I use smtp.west.cox.net which worked no matter where I was located outside my home, including in San Francisco when I purchased the phone, until last Thursday when my outbound emails stop sending when located away from home. The cox.net still works while I'm in range of my wireless server at home.
Problem 1: No matter what attitional account i attempt to set up last, it replaces whatever account is already set up with the new server info and the account name as well.
iPhone support told me to set up the account - smtp1.attglobal.net - to use when I'm away from home to solve the problem. It didn't work. And replaced my cox.net account on the iPhone.
Genius bar told me to set up cwmx.com. And it replaced my cox.net account on the iPhone. It didn't even work in their store.
Problem 2: After a combined 2.5 hours, the Genius bar finally told to set up another email account on Yahoo so I'd have different settings.
I now have no confidence in iPhone support or the Genius bar as the answer was more of an 'I don't know try this', than 'this is the solution.' Is there a solution that doesn't involved setting up yet another email account with another provider?

Cannot edit outgoing SMTP server list in mail.app

Did a fresh install of Snow Leopard on a new 13" Macbook Pro unibody and was trying to add an IMAP email account. After failing to connect, I was trying to specify the outgoing port and realized that I could not edit the outgoing SMTP server list.
Steps to reproduce error:
1. Open mail.app
2. Go to Mail > Preferences
3. Select "Accounts" tab and select any mail account
4. Select "Account Information" tab and click Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) drop down menu
5. Select "Edit SMTP Server List..."
After that point the instead of opening the list of servers with their settings, it simply returns to the "Account Information" screen. I'm a bit confused because I've never had this happen before in any other version of mail app. I cannot edit or delete any outgoing mail server accounts because of this. Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you for your time and consideration.

This should not happen. Had you migrated back to the fresh install the Mail folder in User-Library? Or is this a clean setup? I would go to User-Library-Preferences, and drag the com.apple.mail.plist to the trash, then open Mail and try again.

you can only associate a port with the INCOMING SETTINGS. I need to associate a port with the Outgoing Server. How do I do this?

Tap on the outgoing smtp server under Settings>Mail,Contacts, Calendars and your email account. You will then see the advanced settings for the outgoing smtp server.

Help!! Cant send email how change my outgoing smtp port to 587 stuck on 25

Im on OSX 10.1.4. I go to Mail, Preferences, Account, Select my email account, Select Edit, Select Account Options.
All I see is a box saying Connect to server port: and it says 143.
When I try to send mail a message says smpt port timed our port 25. I called my internet provider and they told me to change my outgoing port to 587 but I cant find where to change the 25 to 587.
If I go back to the above and change the 143 to 587 my incoming mail stops working.
Am I looking in the wrong place or did I setup my email incorrectly? I selected mac account, pop, smtp.mac.com outgoing server, mail.mac.com for incoming server...did I do something wrong. I have a mac mail email address.

So there's no way to send with other ports? You HAVE to use port 25?
Sure there is - talk to every mail administrator of every domain you might ever want to send mail to and have them reconfigure their mail servers to listen on some arbitrary port number that you define. Wait for them to do it (it shouldn't take them too long), and then you're done.
Oh, no, hang on a minute... none of them are going to do that, are they?
But that's what you're asking for - you're asking for them to accept mail on some non-standard port number just so you can get around Verizon's mail blocking.
There is a reason why standard port numbers (defined by IANA) exists - just so that everyone's talking on the same page (or at least in the same chapter of the same book). You can't arbitrarily pick a port number and expect it to work unless both sides of the connection know to use it. You know port 25 works for SMTP because that's the standard. You can use any port number you like for your own mail because you can configure your own mail client to use a non-standard port, but you can't convince the rest of the world to follow suit (at least not without good reason).
In this case your options are to relay your mail through Verizon's servers, upgrade to their business plan (which supports hosting your own mail server and doesn't break the user agreement), or setup another mail server somewhere else that you can relay your mail through.

I just traveled to europe and discovered once I got their that my outgoing mail settings were all reset. I am back and still cannot send emails or find magic combination of outgoing settings. Have tried switching off SSL...doesn't work . Anyone haveung this issue? A solution? Thanks.

Having trouble editing iweb HTML. Help!

I have been trying repeatedly to edit my websites html that I created with iweb. I bought the domain with godaddy.com and changed the cname to web.mac.com so that I could create pages and publish them to .mac, which would then show up on my .com name. After a few weeks of being satisfied, I wanted to make my site better, and iweb just wouldnt cut it. So now I have the html code for my front page of my website to include a random image upload each time the website is visited. I've been reading about how to edit the html in iweb in multiple forums and how-to guides, but none of it works for me.
I attempted to publish to a folder and then edit the html and save it in the same place, with the same name, but this didn't have any effect on the actual website. What do I do? Someone please lay this out for me step by step and tell me what I am doing wrong. This is frustrating! Thank you.

Thanks for your response. Your second idea is what I'm looking for ---I want a few images to display, one after another, while the homepage of my website is open. It's not really a banner that I want the images to sit in (I think of a banner as being at the top of the page). I want to position the images lower in the body of the page. I had researched this topic quite a few months ago and found some things that might help---that's why I didn't start a new thread---but I couldn't locate the information this second time. 4) in those lines: images.push('blah_blah.jpg') , change file names (inside the single quote) to your image file names
5) size and place the HTML Snippet on the page.
6) Set the images' opacity to 0% after you are done so they won't show on your page.
That's it, there is no limit to number of images, when you add an image to the page, just add another line: images.push('blah_blah.jpg');

Having trouble editing bookmarks because FF won't tell me where they are when I click on the yellow star.

The yellow star works fine for storing new bookmarks, but if the bookmark already exists, I get only the small "edit bookmark" box, and not the full box that shows where it is and lets me edit it. My bookmarks are all organized into folders, and sometimes I can't remember where that bookmark is stored. Any ideas why I should have such a problem?

Sorry, Firefox doesn't have a "locator" for bookmarks that will tell you exactly which sub-folder a bookmark is located in. IMO, a major lack of usability, but the problem has existed forever and I got used to it.

{ Ctrl + B } to open the Bookmarks sidebar. Use the ''Search'' at the top to find that bookmark, then right-click and select Properties.

I am having trouble editing documents online

When I try to open documents online to edit them through the internet they open up through my desktop and not through the internet therefore I am not able to edit and save my changes online. How can I get my documents to be edited through the internet instead of the documents opening through my program on my desktop?

i have the same problem but i cannot change the permissions of the folder.
it allows me to unlike the read only box and apply to all sub folders and files and click ok.
But reopen it and check the permissions and its back to read only again.

I'm having trouble editing my imported video

My cumputer and most of the apps have been upgraded and now I'm not sure how to use iMovie.
At the moment I'm trying to edit my drawing vidoe so it no longer has sound and is sped up. So far I have been able to get rid of the sound, but I can't seem to make it speed up. I've clicked modifie but the letters turn up grey and it wont let me edit it at all from those opssions. Can someone please help?

Once again, you will NOT be able to ram preview all 10 minutes of video because that takes more ram than you have. AE is not a non linear editor and it's designed to create shots not edited movies. You can render movies that are longer than the ram preview but the ram preview length is limited to the available ram.
