Having trouble keep video quality

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can explain this one to me. For some reason when I drag a video into my project now the quality seems to be alot less than if I viewed the original video outside of Premiere. I don't recall noticing this earlier so I may have changed something in this particular project. I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight into setting up a project that is a good base for a video that is mp4 file type. I'm really new so I don't know what information is relevant, the video details are 720x480 @ 29 fps. I picked DV - PAL / Standard 48kHz.

Sorry off the top of my head I don't know much about interlacing, or what you mean by the viewer displaying both fields. I am looking at what you said, but I think that's something that will take a bit more time to understand. In general, I have some videos that were captured from an external source and saved in an MP4 format.(wether this is where the issues are beginning im unsure)
Anyhow from that, I start a new project, with the general settings, with the sequence presets at DV - PAL - Standard 48 kHz. From there, when I drag the video into the project and view the video in it's source section, there is an obvious decay of quality. I'm not too sure what im supposed to take into account or how im supposed to set this up. Besides altering the inital video outside of Premiere, it must be a setting. Either I've not set the appriopriate project settings for this particular video format, or I've done something to alter Premieres overal settings. Though I've not touched any preferences.

I would like to save everything to my external drive so that I can delete all of iphoto library and then reimport to correct a few things.

The file sizes are identical. In the finder I did a search for all .mov files. Then when they came up, I went through them and named each one so that they would be easier to find. I am a new mac user and am used to windows. I realized later that I should not have done this....with a mac files should be named within iphoto app...not finder....When I went to open the videos in iphoto, it wouldn't allow me. I had to go into finder, copy to desktop and reimport into iphoto. Then the videos worked again. However, I had the problem with the poor video quality when copied to external drive before that. Actually the first problem I had was when I copied to ext drive...videos were copying as an image...so I learned that you have to change "kind" to original before exporting....then that problem was solved...now they are videos, not images but not of a great quality. Skips, sound and images are not in sync...etc...

I'm having trouble with video imported from my camera memory card.The video breaks up and pixelizes when it's directly imported from the memory card. That makes the video useless. Why does this happen? It doesn't do that in any other video editing software. Thanks for the help.

Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Advanced tab.
Click Delete All under Browsing Data and Settings
Not empty the Safari cache.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select: Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now click Develop from the menu bar. From the drop down menu click Empty Caches.
Now try a video.

If you have not done so already, I recommend updating Final Cut Pro X to 10.0.5.
And if that doesn't work, download the following applicaton (FREE) and use it to convert your footage to Apple ProRes, or another compatible video coded/format...

I am having trouble keeping wifi connection on my ipad2 and iPhone 5. AT

I Am having trouble keeping my wifi connection on iPhone 5 but especially ipad2. Have had IPad checked out and is fine. At
&T has changed the router 3 times but no help. Will a different router other than AT&T solve this problem and if so, which one.

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

I'm having trouble viewing video's on my macbook.

I have a macbook and for some reason, I've been having trouble viewing online video's. And it happens with all sites, youtube, dog world, ect.
The video stops and has that circle in the center, then plays a little more, then stops again. I have version 10.6.8. I don't believe it is my internet connection, i can watch video's on my ipad.

Try playing at a lower resolution if that option is available (for example, in youtube the controls are in the lower right of the video window). Some sites, particularly youtube, seem to have problems playing some (not all) videos at 720p and 1080p.

Having problems with video quality in iDVD 09

I have created a slide show in iMovie with audio. When saved it is in a .mov format. I burned it to DVD using the burn folder option. It has great video quality in that format. Since most DVD players won't accept the .mov format or some PC's, I wanted the most common format for viewing. I exported the movie to iDVD and used these settings..
Video Mode-NTSC
Aspect Ration 16:9 widescreen
Encoding-Professional Quality
DVD Type-Single-Layer (SL)-4.2 GB
When going from the .mov format to the MPEG-2 format ( I think this is the output format for iDVD)
The quality is very poor. It seems to have wavy lines throughout the file, especially when someone is wearing patterned clothing.
Anyone know how to get the same quality of the .mov file to something that will be viewable across multiple platforms???
Would using moviegate conversion software be an answer????

a mov can contain all kind of codecs and esp. resolutions..
a videoDVD, by standards, has a 720x480 res, and is interlaced.
=> quality HAS to be 'lower' than any 5Mpix on a HiDef computer screen..
but, I did tons of slideshows with iMHD6 and iDVD.. for me, quality is superb.. for sure, tiny 'checker patterns', 'sub pixel lines' etc. HAVE to flimmer..

Hi. I'm new to IPad...just bought from Best Buy 1 month ago. Used to PC. I cannot watch videos without them stopping every few seconds. If I hit the start/pause or stop, it will start again. Would someone help me please? I'm not close to the Best Buy store & impossible to get them on phone!

Videos are heavy files. While the internet speed may look o.k for websites, and other light weight things videos tend to need faster internet.
It may just need buffering, also iPad in youtube at least defaults to the highest possible quality for the videos, which also means the videos get very very heavy. 1080p video can very very large. in the hundreds of megabytes.
Think over MB for a short 5 minute video at 1080p. If your internet is not fast enough it will stop to buffer. It will also resume playing once its buffered enough.
If you pause it at the beginning and let it buffer a bit, it may be able to last a bit longer.
Most videos have a load indicator in the position bar. Its usually a lighter gray to show its loading the video, keep an eye on that and make sure there's enough of the gray bar so it won{t catch up while playing it.

Having trouble converting video to dvd

Hi there. I am trying to convert an 8mm tape to dvd. I imported using FCP, i made my necessary edits and then converted them to a quicktime file and imported the clips to iDVD and burned my disc. the problem I am having is that when I playback the dvd anytime there is motion it gets very pixelated and looks like garbage. I am sure there is a setting that I am missing, or not converting it properly. I really need some help on this.

Export: Using Quicktime conversion. My settings are: Compression H.264, Quality: best, Key Frame Rate:24, Encoding:multipass, and Dimensions 720x480(4:3)
I am just looking for the most convenient way to transfer and edit these tapes to dvd without the glaring pixelation problems.

Export: Using Quicktime conversion. My settings are: Compression H.264, Quality: best, Key Frame Rate:24, Encoding:multipass, and Dimensions 720x480(4:3)
First, you must feed iDVD with an uncompressed copy of your movie, what means, same settings that your timeline. Select Export > Quicktime Movie (not conversion!) > Same settings. Then use that file as soure in iDVD. iDVD will encode this file to MPEG2 video.
Second, I suggest you learn to use Compressor and DVDSP. iDVD will not give you too much encoding control. With Compressor you can set the exact encoding parameters you need, including AC3 (Dolby) audio. iDVD uses AIFF audio that can cause skips when playting in stand alone players because the high bitrate.

I'm having trouble uploading videos to DropBox.

I'm having many difficulties uploading my videos to dropbox from itunes. All I do is publish my video to iTunes from iMovie. Then, I drag the video from iTunes, and put it in my dropbox folder. They're mostly only 4 minute videos, or smaller. But, when I upload it to DropBox, it takes almost two days, IF it even uploads without quiting on me. Whereas, on my Parents iMac, it only takes at - the most - 3 hours. We have wireless internet, and that's what both of our computers are on. I even hooked our computer up to the wifi box (for lack of better words... considering I have absolutely no idea what 'the box' is called. Oops...) and it would do nothing. I have no idea what to do, and these videos are important. I do one a week. And they have to be uploaded before friday, each week.

What size are those videos? The free Dropbox has a 2GB limit.

Having trouble with sound quality

I have had this iPod Touch 2nd Generation for almost 2 years now, and I'm starting to have some troubles with it. The headphone sound quality is now starting to deteriorate. Unless the headphones are plugged in a specific way, either one bud goes out, or the sound quality goes down, as there is a lot of static and crackling, and I've had experiences with it actually shocking my ears while I'm listening.
I have tried a new pair of headphones, and this does nothing.
My iPod is obviously beyond the manufacturer's warranty, and it's up-to-date with the latest update. Is there anything I can do?

Sounds like your headphone jack may need replacing.
