Having trouble making my links to other sites open in a new window
On iWeb, on my Links page, I have ticked the box to 'open links in a new window' s that viewers aren't directed away from my set, however, when I visit my site this ahsn't worked - any idea what else I need to do?
What's the URL of your site so we can examine it first hand?
Try the following:
1 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iWeb's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
3 - reboot, launch iWeb, reset the links in the Inspector pane and try again.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

Ever since firefox automatically updated itself, I am not able to open websites in new windows - meaning that if I am on a website and you click a link on it that opens in a new window, that new window is blank. It used to work perfectly. I even checked my foxit reader and that it working well

I should bring your attention to the fact that your user agent says you're using Firefox 3.6, not 3.0. I will remind you that Firefox 3.0 has been discontinued and is no longer supported. Furthermore, it has known bugs and security problems.
As for your problem, you may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] and select ''Disable all add-ons''. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and theme. You can troubleshoot plugins the same way.
If you want support for one of your add-ons, you'll need to contact its author. -

How To Make Links In A .PDF Open In A New Window
Hello,
I am using Acrobat Pro 10 to create a fillable employment application. At the top of the main application, I want people to be able to click and be redirected to another .PDF file I have hosted on my site that they will need to fill out in addition. So, I have used the link tool, but this closes the main pdf application and opens up the new pdf in its place. This is very problematic, because it clears out all of their data in the previous main application. So, I need the link to open in a new window and not in the same one as the original form. Is this possible?

However, when I do this, and upload it to my site the link doesn't do anything. When you click above the word where the link should be, it doesn't show the finger pointer and doesn't do anything when clicked.
Any ideas? I greatly appreciate any help...That makes sense. So I guess it looks like I have 2 options.
1. Put the JS short code in and have it open the link in a new window if the user opens it in adobe. If a google chrome user opens it in the default viewer, they wont be able to use the link at all.
2. Leave the link how it is, and it will be usable in both viewers, but will not open it in a new window.
I am sureprised that opening the link in a new window isn't just an option in Acrobat Pro. I wouldn't think you'd have to make a workaround like this.
Is there an alternative way to have a page link on the form so that people can go to another .pdf whil keeping the main one open? -
As I say, since I updated to 3.6.15 I am unable to open links off a webpage that should open in a new window, or even open enlarged photographs in a separate window. Either, in the case of the latter, I get the message "stopped" in the bottom of the browser window, or in the former case it either appears to begin to load the new page but then stalls. Sometimes I don't even get this, but end up with "(Untitled)" appearing in the tab label.
As you can imagine, this is causing a great deal of problems and I am keen to sort it out asap.Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

For some time now and after firefox has automatically been updated a few times, I click on images or links which are supposed to open in a new window automatically. A new window opens but it is blank with no toolbars, just an adress bar with nothnig in it.
mha007, Thank you. I walked through your suggested solutions and finally disabled all add-ons and restarted them one by one. The culprit seems to be ViewSourceWith 0.8.11. Interestingly when it is enabled I had to go to TaskManager to force Firefox to quit.
Maybe this information will help others. I don't know if the cache clearing etc helped but I would suggest that others start but Bringing up Firefox in Safe Mode (hold shift when you select the icon), disable all add-ons and then start them one by one.
Of course if you have ViewSourceWith maybe you should just disable it first rather than go through the tedium of restarting each add-on separately. To get to the add-ons when it won't open from the toolbar type about:addons in the address area. -
Link List Explorer NOT Opening In A New Window
Hi All,
I am trying to force my KM linklist links to open in a new window and this is proving to be a hard feat!
I have navigated to System Admin --> System Config --> Knowledge Management --> Content Management --> Configuration --> Content Management --> User Interface --> Settings --> Resource Renderer Settings --> Link List Resource Renderer.
Within this area, I have changed the Target Window Type to "blank" and "fixed" amongst other options but it is not opening the new links in a blank window.
Instead, it opens the KM folder in a new window and when I click on a link within that folder, it opens in a new portal window complete with Portal framework.
All I want is for my links to open in a new blank window with no Portal framework.
Any ideas?

bug 13852263 - ACTION LINKS - NAVIGATION TO BI REPORTS DOESN'T WORK ( OPEN IN NEW WINDOW)
for now : to uncheck the "Open in New Window" checkbox and go to the detail report in the same Window.
Note: this bug has been fixed by applying the patch 14003822 (u need to get the latest patch)

How do I make a link to another webpage open in a new window?
Hello Everyone, I am at a loss as to how to do this. I'm not a developer, just someone who updates simple things on my website. I thought I took care of this a couple of weeks ago, but whatever I did it does open the link in a new window while opening it in the window my site is in too, which defeats the purpose. I can't find how to correct this in Help. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Pamela

I don't want to upgrade everything, especially not after reading about iMovie 08.

Clicking a link in portal favorites opens in a new window?
Hi
I added few pages to my favorties and when i click on the the link in favorites, it is opening a dialog with "download" and save buttons. I donno why it is happening like that.
could some one help in this regard??

We can't solve it. Eighter with client-caching nor without caching.
On click on a favorite the ie-dialog ist coming out for open oder save the destination. When I choose "open" nothing happens.

You might want to try using an html editor like Taco HTML Edit to open html files, I find it makes them much easier to read.
Your file is viewing as a web page because Safari is probably set as the default app to open html files.
What you need to do is press the "ctrl" key when you click on the file in your iDisk, this will give you a menu, choose Open With, then choose the app that you want to open the file with from the list that you see. If you use text edit (launch the app, go to Text Edit > Preferences > Click Open and Save > Check “Ignore rich text commands in html files”).

Most people know how to use their browsers BACK button to return to a site. Or better yet, right click on links to open them inside new tabs or windows. This should almost always be a user's decision and not a web designer's decision.
If you have all links open in new windows/tabs, In no time at all, user's browser will be stuffed with them which is ugly and can diminish browser performance.
If you need to open a new window on SELECT links, use the Behaviors Panel, press the Plus sign (+) and select Open Browser Window. Repeat this for all links you want opened in new windows.
