Having trouble printing pdf from Safari

I'm new to Mac, so I'm hoping there is just some secret place I don't know about to adjust these settings.
Here's the issue: I am trying to print a pdf certificate (full page with a thin border on it) from Safari. When printed, the page is offset to the right and down, like there is some sort of default page margins set up in the browser.
What I've tried: There is no "page setup" option in the "file" menu. In the print menus (the ones that appear when you click the arrow next to the printer dialogue box), I have tried selecting a borderless paper, printing borderless pages (with the sliding bar at both ends of the spectrum), changing the orientation, changing the zoom, and creating a custom paper with custom margins.
No matter what I do, the page still prints out with a sizable margin on the top and left, the certificate border is right at the edge of the page on the right, and off the page on the bottom. This also happens when I print the page from Safari to a pdf, so it's not the printer.
Any suggestions?

Hi
Don't rely on an HP updater to work. They don't quite understand a Mac mentality.
You can find the latest HP driver for your printer here.
Yes, a faulty printer driver will affect Safari's printing.
After you install the driver, "repair permissions" using Disk Utility found in your Finder's Applications>Utilities folder.

Now, when I try to print a pdf from Safari, the print window shows nothing to print, and subsequently, nothing prints. Does anyone know what's happening? It worked fine for years.

  • Can't print pdf from safari

Ive been having this issue forever
When I need to print a PDF file, I cannot do so from Safari.  It just comes up blank pages.
If I go to another browser like Chrome, I have no problems.
Anyone know why or what I can do?
It seems Safari causes so many problems in addition to this one that I seem to have to use other browsers more and more

Also, the little printing window that usually pops up on the dock when you print something and then quits itself after printing doesn't quit itself anymore. I have to actually select it and quit it myself. It's very annoying.

  • HT4550 Download or Print PDFs from Safari

    Hello:
It has been awhile - hopefully my memory is OK.
Highlight any existing PDF file on your computer (don't open it).  Then go to the file menu.  Open with should give you the available choices.  As I recall, this sets the option globally.

  • Cannot save or print pdf from safari in Snow Leopard

Just recently have been unable to save or print PDF documents from two different websites using either Safari or FireFox on Snow Leopard (10.6). The same websites can be accessed, saved or printed on a different computer using Safari and Lion (10.7). Looking for help.

Found a previous post that suggested doing a Right Click on the PDF form in the Safari Window and then printing from the pop-up menu. This does work. Also, on one of the PDF forms there was a pop-up menu at the bottom of the form that appears only when you move the mouse pointer to the bottom of the form. From this memu I could either save or print. But, just using the Safari File>Print command did not work.
Although both of the alternate techniques work, it is still a mystery why this behavior should suddenly appear.

  • I am having trouble printing pdf's on my iMac.

I can print pdf's if I open them in Preview.  However, if they open in Adobe Reader they do not print.  I suspect there is an isue with the soft ware.  I have tried re-downlading the software but it tells me it is already installed.  How do I "uninstall" Adobe Reader from my iMac?

Download AppZapper (It's a free trial)
    Install it and open it.
Drag the Reader app to the AppZapper window and "zap" it along with the associated files to the trash.
    Empty the trash.
Download the Reader FULL installer here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/ to replace it.

  • Cannot print pdf from safari

When I try to print a pdf downloaded by safari I only get a blank, black page, if I print via safari itself, and an error that no pages are selected (when thy are) if I try to print via adobe reader,  I'm running OSX 10.9.2 and Safari 7.0.3

To view PDF in Preview, you have to remove Adobe Reader.
Remove Adobe plug ins if any.
    Macintosh HD > Library > Internet Plug-ins
    Look for these two files.
    AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin
    AdobePDFViewer.plugin
Right click it and then select Move to Trash”.

  • I'm having trouble transfering bookmarks from Safari to Firefox. File, "Import" button is grayed out. I've gone through your trouble shooting, the database for imports is no longer current.

I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.8. I have the latest version of Firefox 5.0. I'm over Apple's Safari, and I'd like to transfer my bookmarks into Firefox. I've gone through your help and support section and found an article that could help me. However, when I click File, the "import" button is grayed out. Which prevents me from importing bookmarks into your browser. So I drug the Firefox icon into the recycle bin, and hit empty trash, then re-downloaded the firefox software from your site, and it seemed to remember my old bookmarks from a year ago. The file, "import" button was still grayed out, so I couldn't update my entire new list of bookmarks onto your web browser.

  • Im having trouble printing photos from my HP Photosmart B110

I've set up the printer correctly but was unable to print photos initially so I reinstalled the software which worked. I could use the options and printer properties functions once Id selected a photo, allowing me to resize pictures etc. And then after a while it just stopped! When I click print, nothing happens, the status bar comes up and disappears straight away whereas before it would tell me its sending the print to the printer and when I check the print que, there is nothing there. The only thing that happened was my internet disconnected for a little while and after it came back on, nothing worked? Surely everytime my internet disconnects I don't have to reinstall everything again???? Please help me

  • I'm having trouble printing pages from Adobe Digital Editions

So earlier, I made the authorization to print the whole ebook.
Upon my making this authorization, my computer was slow.
I cancelled the command, figuring that Adobe Digital Editions would let me try again.
Now it says I can only print 4 pages.
    This program is really dumb.
How do I gain more pages available to print for the same ebook?

  • Hi. i'm having trouble viewing pdf files in safari

i'm having trouble viewing pdf files in safari.

    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • I am having trouble printing to an Epson XP600.  It is a new printer and it has been replaced because we thought it was the printer.  Basically, when I print from Excel, only color will print.

I am having trouble printing to an Epson XP600.  We have replaced the printer and we are still having the same problem.  When I try to print from Excel, only the color prints.  Any suggestions?

Has anyone else had issues not being able to print black (such as a document)?  My photos print great, but when I try to print a simple black-ink document, it won't work. Any suggestions?
