Having trouble reinstalling iTunes to Vista...

So I was having problems with certain components of iTunes working at first, so I completely removed iTunes (meaning deleted the folders and files, and deleted all of the other iTunes applications.) The problem is now when I attempt to reinstall it, it gets pretty far but then this little box pops up that says something along the lines of "Something went wrong with the download package. Please contact your service provider for more information." And then it will undo some of the things it said it was doing.
Then it will show me the final screen telling me that iTunes had finished installing. Here's the problem, everytime I try to open it now Windows Installer opens and it attempts to configure iTunes and then the window just stops and disappears. What's really frustrating is I tried to go into the iTunes folder and open up iTunes.exe and my computer told me I had to have administrator permission to access that folder. Despite the fact that I AM THE ADMINISTRATOR, it still told me I couldn't access it.
So I tried one last time to uninstall everything, but this time when I tried to delete the QuickTime folder it told me access was, yet again, denied and that I had to have administrator permission. And everytime I click the "continue" button it just does nothing and tells me I cannot access my QuickTime and iTunes folders. So I just went ahead and downloaded the program again, and I just had all the same problems. Windows Configure would open up and disappear as usual.
Excuse all of this explanation, but this is really frustrating for me.

My windows 7 crashed the other evening and I am having troubles reinstalling iTunes. I have tried to delete Bonjour, Quick Time. ITunes, etc, but to no avail. When I try to install 10.5.3 for Windows I get 3 information boxes before the installation wiz shuts down. They are as follows:
“The older version of Bonjour cannot be removed”.
“The older version Apple Software Update cannot be removed”.
“The older version of Quick Time cannot be removed”.
“The installation of Quick Time did not complete successfully. ITunes requires Quick Time”.
And finally, “ITunes installer interrupted”. “Finished”.
Any hints on how to install 10.5.3?

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.

In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Software Update entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Next, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Next, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:

This section contains information that might help your situation, as the order and manner which you uninstall has an effect on the outcome:
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459

    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.

Started having trouble with iTunes so I uninstalled everything and tried to reinstall but it says ' iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes.'  Well, I've uninstalled and reinstalled 5 times.  Now what?

I figured it out.  A week ago I had downloaded a screensaver from a website I trusted and that's when my problems started. I uninstalled it but that didn't help.  So, I reinstalled it then used an uninstall softtware app that cleanns more than the control panel does. Then I used a computer cleaner to be sure everything was wiped clean.  And it worked.  I downloded iTunes for the 7th time in 2 days and finally it worked!  And I lost nothing from my account.
Maybe this info will help others.

    Hi cheperrumps,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
Uninstalling or reinstalling the iTunes application won't affect your music (data) -- but it's always a good idea to have a backup!
The information below will show you how to do that and to troubleshoot your issue with iTunes:
iTunes: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • TS1424 I am having trouble getting Itunes to open

I am having trouble getting ITUNES to work I have deleted itunes and everything associated with it and reinstalled and I still get the same errors,
The application has failed to start because of MSVCR80.DLL
INTUNES WAS NOT INSTALLED CORRECTLY  ERROR 7
THIS APPLICATION FAILED TO START BECAUSE ICUDT49.DLL WAS NOT FOUND

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • Having trouble opening itunes on my pc

I am having trouble opening iTunes on my PC, how do I fix the issue?

    Hello Will,
I know you said you uninstalled iTunes but if you only uninstalled the application itself and not its components, when you re installed the issue could keep happening. I recommend using this article to uninstall iTunes and its components Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7 found here http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923.
After that try installing iTunes again and see if the issue is resolved.
