Having trouble sending e-mail on Pop 3 account
Well having a little trouble with my Pop 3 accounts , it seemed to work when i first installed the Iphone but now i am getting a failed to connect to my smtp.west.net.cox account and i do have the password correct and changed it and also turned it off but still no go.
Should I restore the Iphone in Itunes and start all over again or try something else. Thanks

The article does mention how to configure you mail if your internet provider offers an authenticating server for people who travel. However, if that is not an option, there are a variety of ways to use a third-party SMTP server for legitimate outgoing email. Other users have suggested some of them on these forums.

I can recevie mail just fine - it's the sending that is not going through. I see the mail was down for about 4 hours earlier today, but all systems show "go" now. Ran Connection Doctor - and that looks good too.
Any ideas on what I can do to troubleshoot? I'm a recent PC convert and am not familiar with Macs just yet...Have you ever been able to send messages with your .Mac account?
If not, the required settings for using an SMTP server that is outside of your ISP's network or not provided by the ISP is determined by the ISP.
Some ISPs allow the use of an authenticated SMTP server only (such as the .Mac SMTP server) that is outside of their network on Port 25 (which is the common SMTP server port) but some block its use regardless.
Are you also accessing an email account and SMTP server that is provided by your ISP with the Mail.app and if so, are you able to send messages with this account and SMTP server?
Something to try.
Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the Account Information tab for your .Mac account preferences at the SMTP server selection, select the Server Settings button below. Enter 587 in place of 25 in the Server Port field and when finished, select OK to save the changed setting.
If this doesn't resolve it and you are accessing an email account and SMTP server provided by your ISP with the Mail.app, select/use your ISP's SMTP server to send messages with your .Mac account which is invisible to all recipients. -

Thunderbird saves your drafts every five minutes by default. Sometimes auto-saved draft messages aren't cleaned up, giving you the impression that the incomplete messages are also sent. This happens especially for drafts stored on an IMAP server. You can change the configuration to save the draft messages locally by going to Tools -> Account Settings -> [account] -> Copies & Folders- > Drafts and Templates -> Keep message drafts in... and choose Drafts folder on Local folders...

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.

To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.

I am having trouble sending bulk emails from a Mail Group (less than 100 at a time) on my gmail account. They come back saying the server can't recognize the data and try again with selected server or try later or edit message, all of which I have attempted a number of times, including re-booting the computer. I am wondering if there is something wrong in my Address Book? I have check Apple Preferences, and Mail Preferences and all seems in order. I can send to any of the individual addresses, but not in a group.

I am having trouble send messages with attachments in Mail. Even small attachments (130K) Mail tries to send, then gives up and the message sits in my out box. How can I fix this?

Having trouble sending jpeg images as attachments in Mac email.....they go thru as images and PC users can't see the SAVE or QUICK LOOK boxes that Mac mail has. One friend scrolled over the image, right clicked on it and saved as a PNG file.
Apple Mail isn't going to change the format of any of your attachments. it isn't going to corrupt them either.
Exchange is a transport protocol and server. The issue you describe is not related to Exchange.
There are many different versions of Microsoft Outlook in use and they all have e-mail bugs. Different versions have different bugs. Some Apple Mail hack to get around a bug in Outlook 2003 may cause the same message to be problematic in Outlook 2000. Fix them both and another issue will cause trouble in Outlook 2007. You can't fix this. Apple can't fix this. Microsoft can and has but that is irrelevant if your recipients are using older versions.
One specific problem is that Apple Mail always sends image attachments inline, as images, not as iconized files. You can change this with Attachment Tamer. Just be aware that use of this software will break other things such as Stationery. E-mail is just a disaster. To date, no one outside of Apple has ever implemented the e-mail standards from 1993. Apple has continually changed its e-mail software to be more compatible with the de-facto standards that Netscape and Microsoft have unilaterally defined and people documented as "standards" after the fact. The e-mail messages that Apple Mail sends are 100% correct and do not violate any of the original standards from 1993 or the Microsoft/Netscape modifications. The problem is entirely bugs and limitations in various versions of Outlook. -

if you have a mobile me account. First go and move all your data to the cloud by going on your computer and logging in at me.com/move. The cloud has replaced mobile me, so there is no need for those two accounts
Also make sure that for any of your email accounts you set them up to fetch, not push. My tech person set them all to have the email servers push data to the phone. The new iphone4s antenna is extremely strong so it will continually try to access stuff that is pushed–***** a lot of battery life doing this. It makes it worse if you have exchange 2010 accounts. Something about changes made to exchange really suck battery life from devices that access such accounts.

I was having trouble sending to hotmail accounts from my Earthlink account, they had me go into Mac Mail preferences and make changes (because they claimed it was Mac Mail's fault, even though the hotmail error code said it's because Earthlink is blocked by hotmail), now Mac Mail doesn't work AT ALL - any help changing the settings back to correct Mac Mail settings? Any chance you use two step verification on your Yahoo account? If you've ever had to enter a code that was text messaged to you when you log into your Yahoo account on a new computer, then two step verification is probably on.
If that is the case, you'll have to generate an app specific password in the Yahoo web mail page and enter that as your password on your Apple Device instead of your standard password in Mail Settings. -

There seems to be a few bugs with iCloud Mail at times, so send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

I use my Ipad to film my clients and need to send copies to my clients. I am having trouble sending them. When I press share, it only gives me options of sending them as a Message airdrop or Icloud. When I press Icloud nothing happens. The videos are usually 5minutes to maybe 20 minutes. I need to send them insome kind of a compressed manner so it iseasy for my clients to open and watch. Thanks
Have you thought about uploading them to youtube? You can put things there up to 8 minutes long, and up to 15 if you get verified. You can also have them 'unlisted' which means they're not visible to anyone without the link.
I think your issue isn't as much that the videos are too long, it's that the file size is too big. I have a 3 minute video that I shot with my iPod that's 300 megs, and most mail programs max out at 25 megs.
There may also be options with vimeo or other video sharing programs that you can explore.
